Emma was a D1 runner at University of Oregon where she ran her personal best time of 4:39 for the mile (!) which realistically is probably half the time of my best mile LOL. While running collegiately, Emma experienced severe body dysmorphia and amenorrhea (lack of a menstrual cycle). Once she stopped running, she went through what she calls her 'second puberty,' and had a whole new set of body image challenges. We chat all about it on today's episode!
I've gained some weight lately, and for the first time in my life, I'm okay with it. For years, I correlated weight gain with failure. Weight gain with shame. Weight gain with 'letting myself go.' But over the years and through my recovery, I learned that my worth isn't defined by my weight. More on this in today's episode
