Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford. On this week's edition of Line Drive Radio, Tab and Paul did their best to not be too corny when discussing the Field of Dreams game between the Cubs and Reds in Iowa. While the teams won't be as competitive as last year's edition between the White Sox and Yankees, the nostalgia the game - and location - provide is still iconic and exciting. The boys also walked around the league and gave some flowers to the Baltimore Orioles, who weren't supposed to be a contending team (yet) this season but are now tied for a wild card berth. Who would have thought the Baltimore Orioles would be fighting for a playoff spot in 2022? The playoff races have also been costly to some, including now-former Detroit Tigers GM Al Avila who lost his job this week. We discuss which other GMs might feel the seat heater turning on as the season continues. Stay tuned for this week's LDR Fantasy Add of the Week! And, as always, play ball! Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford. Welcome to June, where All-Star ballots are available and managers start getting fired. After discussing the nice, new deal Houston gave Yordan Álvarez and the impressive improvement from Seattle's stud rookie Julio Rodríguez, the guys spent some time on the two major league managers who filed for unemployment in the last week. On our previous show, the Phillies were The Bad because of their brutal stretch of play and Joe Girardi being on the hot seat. Well, Girardi got canned and the Phils haven't lost since. So we tip our cap to them as this week's The Good. The Bad this week is the Angels, who let Joe Maddon go after losing 12 straight games (now 14). Things are bad in Anaheim, but - as we said last week with the Phillies - is it the manager's fault or the roster he's been given that doesn't work? And what will they do for a permanent manager in both Philadelphia and Los Angeles of Anaheim? Stay tuned for this week's LDR Fantasy Add of the Week. Follow everywhere @linedriveradio.

Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford. Welcome to June! The calendar has moved to the third month of the MLB season and we're starting to see some teams heating up. Toronto is hot, winners of seven straight and trying to chase down the Yankees. And the balls were flying in Denver in a double-header on Wednesday that produced 40 total runs. Tab and Paul spent some time in the state of Pennsylvania this week for the good and the bad. The good this week has been the bad more frequently than we would like to admit, but when the Pirates go into Dodger Stadium and sweep a three-game set with the Dodgers we have to give them their flowers. Good for you, Bucs! On the flip side of the page, the Phillies are a dumpster fire and manager Joe Girardi's seat is warming. Should he be the scapegoat for their problems? Should the GM bear the blame for their flawed roster? Or do they need to consider big moves after going all-in this past winter? Stay tuned for this week's fantasy add of the week. Fans in Baltimore, Kansas City, Detroit and Seattle should be buying tickets just to see these young guys play now and into the future. The flip side was in New York, where the Yankees continue to dominate but drama has crept into their season. Line Drive Radio - Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford.Welcome to the middle of May, baseball fans! For some teams - especially in New York - the year has been a fun start. For others, it hasn't been great. Tab and Paul jump off to start the week discussing youth baseball culture and then turn their attention to the Cincinnati Reds, who threw a no-hitter - and lost... to the Pirates. The guys also discuss the ugly injury to Houston's Jake Odorizzi on Monday night and Kansas City's decision to make a change on the bench, firing their hitting coach (yes, Terry Bradshaw. No, not that Terry Bradshaw).  This week, the good is a celebration of Cubs' backstop Willson Contreras reaching the 100 home run plateau in his career. He's only the third Cubs' catcher to reach the mark, and did it with a grand slam on Monday night. The four-run jack capped an 8-run inning for the Cubs; Contreras became the first player in more than 60 years with a grand slam and another extra base hit in the first inning of a game.  The bad looked at the struggling offense in Toronto. No, not the Maple Leafs - the Blue Jays have been surprisingly underwhelming this year. In a tough American League East, they need to get on track before the Yankees run away and the Rays separate themselves in the playoff race.  Stay tuned for this week's Line Drive Radio Fantasy Add of the Week. The Cleveland Guardians are in first place, the New York Mets are the first team to reach 10 wins and four of the five teams in the National League West have won at least eight games entering Friday. There's been plenty of big scores and fun performances already this year!Tab and Paul dig in and discuss the greatness of Miguel Cabrera as he approaches 3,000 career hits. How exclusive is the company he's in? The number of other players who have done what he's accomplished in the big leagues is incredibly small. The respect for Miggy is universal -- to the point that Aaron Boone didn't want to let him try for his 3,000th hit with the game on the line in the eighth inning in Detroit on Thursday. The guys have thoughts on Boone's free pass... They also spent a few minutes discussing the ugly situation in Oakland. The A's had less than 6,500 fans at two home games this week -- total. With ownership flirting with moving the team to Las Vegas and the front office trading away their best players once again this winter, can you blame the fans for not showing up or paying for tickets? Tab and Paul are back in the saddle, excited to finally get to the business of talking baseball... instead of talking about the business of baseball. The guys catch up on some of the enormous player movement that's shifting the landscape of the big leagues. The Oakland A's have been at the center of the baseball world for the past couple weeks, swinging three significant trades with East division teams that cause ripple effects across the two divisions. How did the trades of Chris Bassitt to the Mets, Matt Olson to the Braves and Matt Chapman to the Blue Jays impact those championship-caliber rosters? And how did the rivals of those three teams respond with their moves? What are the Minnesota Twins doing? The guys dig in on their busy offseason that included a major trade with the Yankees, adding a starter from the Reds and their blockbuster addition of star shortstop Carlos Correa. Did these moves make them better? Or are they just spinning their tires in an improving American League Central? The Twins weren't the only team in their division to spend big on a shortstop -- or the only team to break the bank on that position this winter. WanderFranco broke Mickey Mantle's record for consecutive games on base before his 21 st birthday, reachingfor the 37 th straight game on Tuesday. He's been brilliant at only 20 years old. On the other side of thecoin, the reigning NL Rookie of the Month and NL Player of the week Frank Schwindel has been great forthe Cubs as they rolled off a 7-game win streak of their own.On the day that Albert Pujols plays what might be his final game in St. Louis against Yadier Molina, thegold standard for Cardinals' catchers – Ted Simmons – will finally get his rightful place in the Hall ofFame. And just two days after Labor Day, the founding executive director of the MLBPA Marvin Millerwill finally get his place in Cooperstown as well. Both seem perfectly fitting. And on opposite ends of the voting spectrum, Larry Walker and Derek Jeter will be the two playersinducted on Wednesday. Walker, the second Canadian-born player to be voted into the Hall, joinsFerguson Jenkins as the pride of his home country. He was voted in on his tenth and final ballot. Jeter,The Captain, spent 20 years with the Yankees and defined winning for a generation. The guys close out the show with this week's LDR Fantasy Add of the Week. Need help? Nuthin' But Baseball! Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford.Part of the Revolver Podcast Network. This week's show kicks off with a special tribute. The Pittsburgh Pirates made history 50 years ago – Sept1, 1971 – when they started an all-minority lineup. Those Pirates embraced what is great about sports:putting the best players together to succeed. They made history in a way we should celebrate today.Paul and Tab then spent time looking at the remarkable season in the American League. Wander Francois making history for the Tampa Bay Rays, reaching base in 31 straight games (and counting), the second-longest streak in AL history for a player before turning 21. The guys also tipped their caps to Royalscatcher Salvador Perez, who is having one of the best offensive seasons ever for a catcher. When the guys turned their attention to the National League, this week's mess with the Mets was frontand center. Should fans boo? Should players care? Were Javier Baez, Francisco Lindor, Kevin Pillar andothers wrong for their thumbs down “celebration” and should we care? And who is going to step up andbe a leader in that organization? The guys closed the show with their usual LDR Fantasy Add of the Week. Who should you consider asyou come down the home stretch in your fantasy league? Listen to this week's episode to find out!Follow everywhere @linedriveradio.All archives at www.linedriveradio.com.

Nuthin' But Baseball. Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford.Part of the Revolver Podcast Network.Paul and Tab kicked off this week's LDR episode looking around the playoff races around Major League Baseball. In the National League, the Brewers have essentially won their division but the East and West are wide open. The Giants continue to impress with the Dodgers and Padres trying to keep up while the Phillies are trying to hold off the Mets and Braves on the other coast. As the Red Sox come back to the pack in the American League East, the Yankees and Blue Jays hope to surge into a wild card spot. But the A's are chasing down the Astros out west, making for an exciting sprint to the finish. The guys then turned their attention to the incredible scene in Dyersville, Iowa on Thursday night. The Yankees and White Sox played an exciting game in a setting that looked like a Norman Rockwell painting come to life. The aesthetics of the game were amazing – the game itself was as compelling as any regular season game between playoff-caliber teams as possible. And the walk-off winner from Chicago's Tim Anderson put an exclamation point in a marvelous night. How do the White Sox and Yankees stack up for the coming playoff chase? The guys took a look at the case for each as a potential World Series team… and identified a few things both teams need to work on down the stretch. The show closed, as always, with Tab's Fantasy Add of the Week. Nuthin' But Baseball! Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Tab Bamford.Part of the Revolver Podcast Network. On this week's episode, Tab and Paul took a night (and maybe a stiff drink and a cigar) to unwind from the most emotional, chaotic trade deadline in MLB history. Friday was a day and a half and the final two months of the regular season are going to be crazy because of it! The guys spend some time digging in on the biggest and most active team at the deadline: the Chicago Cubs. Anthony Rizzo is now a Yankee, Kris Bryant is a Giant and Javier Báez is a Met. The World Series chapter in the history of the Cubs franchise is now written and closed. Chicago fans had a tough week but Tab offered some thoughts on how and why Cubs GM Jed Hoyer made the moves and offers some optimism for fans who think the Cubs sold too much too lightly. But the Cubs weren't the only team to swing big at the deadline. The Dodgers grabbed a couple more superstars in Max Scherzer and Trea Turner as they try to repeat. The Braves bought an entirely new outfield. The Phillies added an All-Star to their rotation and the Blue Jays acquired an ace from Minnesota.Exhale and catch up from the trade deadline with the insights and commentary on what went down and why it may have ultimately been good – and necessary – for sellers to sell and buyers to buy in this week's episode. And, as always, Tab offers his Fantasy Add of the Week. And will the Cubs ever win another game? The guys then dig into the box and let Trevor Bauer and the Dodgers know how they feel about the scandal in Los Angeles. How did the Dodgers handle the situation? They should have done better.
