Conversations with Visionary Artist Jake Kobrin recorded mostly live through Instagram during the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic. Right now is a crucial time in human history, and people need inspiration and positive role models and examples more than ever. The Inspiration behind the podcasts is to provide a platform for community pillars and to construct an inspiring narrative for people in this time of crisis. The people Jake has felt attracted to speak to are people who have stepped outside of the conventional way of thinking and being. They are those who have transcended the matrix. They live life on their own terms. They are all people Jake respects and wants to learn from, and who he is inspired by. They are artists, musicians, philosophers, writers, psychologists, and coaches. I hope you find these conversations inspiring as well. "The wound is the place where the Light enters you." – RumiIn this essay, I reflect on the heartbreak that shattered me and became a profound initiation—what I now understand as a sacred wound. Through the lens of myth, poetry, psychology, and personal story, I explore how grief, when fully embraced, can become a teacher, a threshold, and even a source of creative power. I weave my own experience of devastating loss with the stories of Orpheus, Chiron, Rumi, Tristan and Isolde, and others who were shaped by wounds they never fully healed from. Rather than trying to “get over” the pain, I chose to sanctify it—to treat it as a passage into deeper love, art, and soul. This essay is both a mourning song and a love letter to those who carry their own sacred wounds, and an offering of hope that our suffering, if honored, can become the very source of our genius.

In this episode of the Creativity and Consciousness Podcast, we explore the intriguing premise set forth by Frank Herbert in his seminal novel Dune, where humanity, after a catastrophic dependence on “thinking machines,” vows to reclaim its intellectual sovereignty. We look at whether our modern digital dependency is undermining our cognitive abilities, creativity, and depth of thought. Drawing parallels with historical intellects like Bach, Beethoven, Darwin, and Einstein, who achieved greatness without digital aids, we question the impact of today's ubiquitous computing on our ability to think critically and creatively. The discussion spans various fields, from music production to the sciences, highlighting how digital tools might be smoothing out the rich idiosyncrasies that define human creativity and intellect. Join us as we examine if the convenience of modern technology comes at the expense of our intellectual depth, and explore ways we might use these tools judiciously to enhance rather than diminish our cognitive capacities.Don't forget to subscribe and leave a review if you enjoyed the episode! In this week's episode of the Creativity and Consciousness Podcast, we continue our groundbreaking series, Cybernetic Séances, by summoning a digital recreation of one of the most controversial and influential occult figures of all time—Aleister Crowley. Using ChatGPT to approximate his mind (entrained through his books and writings) and ElevenLabs' cutting-edge voice simulation technology to revive what we imagine might have been his distinctive voice (though few audio recordings exist), I sit down with an algorithmic Alesiter to explore the core principles of Thelema, the pursuit of True Will, and the nature of magical practice in the modern era. This conversation transcends the boundaries of time, offering a rare opportunity to engage with Crowley's provocative philosophies—re-contextualized in an age defined by advanced AI and global connectivity. As with our first Cybernetic Séance, with the late great Terence McKenna, all of my questions were recorded live, injecting an authentic sense of immediacy and spontaneity into the dialogue. We dove into questions of authenticity, morality, and personal freedom, investigating how Thelemic principles might help guide us through the complexities and distractions of our current moment. All music in this episode was composed entirely by Udio AI.The podcast image was created using MidJourney AI. In this episode of The Creativity and Consciousness Podcast titled "God is the Dreamer," I wanted to explore the Hermetic concept that life is a dream where we are both the dream and the dreamer, existing in the great mind of God. We explore how our subconscious minds shape our reality, often ensnaring us in trances and narratives we may not have consciously chosen. By becoming lucid within this "dreaming," we can awaken from these patterns and actively reshape our lives with limitless possibilities. We discuss practices like lucid dreaming, meditation, and sigil magick as powerful tools to tap into the subconscious mind. These methods empower us to change deeply ingrained beliefs, allowing us to become co-creators of our experience rather than passive participants. The episode also emphasizes the importance of embracing our unique perspectives and acting with love and empathy, recognizing our interconnectedness within this collective dream. For a deeper dive into these transformative concepts, don't forget to preorder my upcoming book, which further explores the journey toward lucidity and personal empowerment. Also, check out my YouTube workshop on Sigil Magick to learn practical methods for accessing and conditioning the subconscious mind. All of the music featured in this episode was created using Udio AI.

Together, we reflect on how constraints can foster creativity and how to maintain balance between wellness and productivity. We reference Erick Godsey's Navigating The Shimmer course, The Artist's Way, and Art and Fear, offering a candid exploration of navigating life, creativity, and recovery in the face of unplanned constraints.
I dug through the archives and found this old essay I wrote many years ago about Lucid Dreaming, and thought I'd share it on the podcast for all of you to listen to, as I realized I haven't shared any new podcasts in a while. Lucid dreaming represents a powerful state of consciousness where the dreamer becomes aware they are dreaming and can sometimes influence the unfolding dream narrative. This capability opens doors to extraordinary dimensions, serving as an inspiration for artists and as a tool for personal and spiritual exploration. It echoes the limitless possibilities seen in stories like The Matrix, where reality is malleable and deeply interconnected with our perceptions and beliefs.Lucid dreaming allows us to tap into our subconscious in ways that can directly benefit our waking lives. It's been shown that this altered state can enhance creativity, problem-solving, and emotional processing, giving us tools to better navigate challenges we face in our day-to-day lives. For instance, Dr. Stephen LaBerge, a pioneer in lucid dream research, has demonstrated how athletes, artists, and musicians can practice skills in their dreams to improve performance when awake. His research suggests that the brain cannot distinguish between the actions taken in dreams and those in reality, meaning you can enhance your abilities while you sleep. This means that the actions taken in a lucid dream, for example practicing an instrument, affect the brain the same way as if you were practicing the instrument while awake. (citation) His book, Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming, co-written with Howard Rheingold, provides a comprehensive guide to understanding and harnessing the power of lucid dreams.I hope you'll enjoy this podcast!
“Cybernetic Conjurations: The Nexus of Magic and Machine Intelligence” This piece goes into the history of magic, introducing key figures such as Aleister Crowley and John Dee – both famous for their mystical practices about our contemporary development of AI. It delves into how the ancient ideas of summoning and servitors correlate with contemporary digital creations, stating that it is a never-ending thread of human intention to shape reality. The article also discusses the ethical considerations and philosophical issues raised by AI's exponential rise, making parallels with ancient magicians' goals. It invites readers to ponder the place of AI in our lives and its potential for either elevating or undermining them.
