We talk about everything about Italy travel and movies in Sicily, including The Godfather (and Godfather Tours) and Cinema Paradiso's filming locations. This interview has only piqued my interest in traveling to Italy.  Find me on Instagram at TheVirginTraveler and follow me on Twitter @reeltravelsmag.

Hey everyone it’s Lisa Iannucci and this is a special cross-over episode between both of my podcasts The Reel Travels podcast and The Write Start podcast. My special guest for this episode is Katherine Parker-Magyar, who is an extremely successful travel writer and I thought that writers would want to know how she accomplished what she did as a travel writer and the travelers who listen to Reel Travels would love to listen to what she’s accomplished as a traveler and, of course, her interest in film.  Katherine Parker Magyar is the guest today and here is a snippet of her bio:  “In my career as a travel writer, I’ve driven husky sleighs through Arctic forests in Finnish Lapland and sailed the Rio Negro to the heart of the Brazilian Amazon. I’ve practiced yoga with goats in the Swiss Alps and chased Alaskan King Salmon off the shores of Prince of Wales Island. I’ve jumped into black holes in Belize and trekked across the most active volcanic valleys in the Caribbean. I’ve hot air ballooned above the Sierra Nevada and tracked rhinos in the savannah of the Maasai Mara. Katherine Parker-Magyar has been 6 continents, 63 countries, and all 50 states, I do want you to keep in mind that Katherine talks very fast so listen carefully or slow down the speed of your playback.  Katherine, thank you so much for being on the show and thank you all for listening to both the Reel Travels podcast and The Write Start podcast. Welcome to Episode 40 of Reel Travels I'm your host, Lisa Iannucci. This episode, I take a detour and head over to Woodstock, New York for the 21st Annual Woodstock Film Festival and, as I’ve said several times before, my favorite film festival. I’ll tell you about the movies I watched and what I thought about them. Let’s get started.  Film festivals suffered big time this year. The festivals depend on movie tickets being sold and souvenirs being bought and the communities they are located in depend on tourism dollars with hotel stays, restaurant visits and more. If you’re not familiar with film festivals, you should be. It’s a great way to see some of the best movies that don’t always make it to the theaters. Some do, but not all do and there are some talented filmmakers out there. I started thinking about how can I do my part during quarantine to help and I realized there are two areas that fit me well -- movies and books. So my goasl going forward are to bring you more promotion on film festivals as well as to encourage you to support your local independent bookstores, not just to buy my books, but to buy any books. The arts need your help.  Please listen to the podcast and support the Woodstock Film festival. Check out:  https://www.woodstockfilmfestival.com/wff_store/souvenirs.php Well, that’s it for this week’s podcast. Not everybody really knows how to put a trip together, so this week, my guest is Liana Corwin of Hopper, an app that helps you to book your trips. It comparison shops for you when it comes to your airfare and will tell you when the right time to book it is. There’s so much more to travel, but this is a great way to get started. Maybe you’re a virgin traveler like I was, and what I mean by that is maybe you haven’t traveled a lot in your life or maybe it’s been a really long time since your last trip. So it’s a slightly different angle this week and, in full disclosure, this particular episode is sponsored by Spotlight Media and I want to thank them for doing this.  Enjoy the show!
