Another mind bending podcast. First an apology for talking over Jennifer; because I knew I didn't have her for long, I wanted to squeeze in as much information as I could. The first half I interrupt her often, the second half not so much. Yes, I did a Laverne & Shirley, I played "Guide the Pizza Delivery guy" - an idea that Charles Grodin had, that he pitched to Penny. They wrote me in and as noted, they cut me out. It's just fun that I did the show, and that Harry Dean Stanton sang a song (which went over, and is why I was cut out, according to Penny.) I did spend the millennium on a yacht with Bob Shaye, Penny Marshall and others - and I played the piano while Penny sang shows tunes from "Hello Dolly" but with Bob and Ava Shaye's names instead. And for those familiar with our books with transcripts of eight years of meeting weekly - "Backstage Pass to the Flipside 1, 2 and 3" or "Tuning into the Afterlife" - they'll know that Jennifer doesn't recall our conversations unless folks on the flipside remind her. We did interview Gary Marshall when he crossed over, we have interviewed others mentioned in the podcast, Robin Williams, Sally Kellerman... Luana Anders is our moderator on the podcast, she did over 300 TV episodes and films, knew everyone - and those in turn know others. We've had many stop by the podcast - not because they're "celebrities" - there's no hierarchy on the flipside, but because Luana knew them. (Luana reached out from the flipside to get me to do a documentary about this research.) I was at Penny's birthday party when I met Robin Williams. Luana introduced me to Fred Roos, introduced me to Francis Coppola who introduced me to George Lucas (I beat them both playing "Risk"). Rance Howard starred in my film "Limit Up" so I know Ron, as well as his mom. I don't know Bill Hudson, but I do know his ex Goldie. Apologies to her children for dropping their names in this podcast - I try not to offend grieving family members, but sometimes it's healing or helpful to hear or see how easy it is to access our loved ones. We do this podcast for that reason - to demonstrate one doesn't need a medium (it helps) doesn't need a hypnotherapist (it can help) but one can just do a simple meditation (example in DivineCouncils.com or the film HackingTheAfterlifeFilm.com ) to chat with anyone. Or give Jennifer a call. She's really good at what she does. As Harry Dean Stanton told us (transcript is in "Backstage Pass to the Flipside") "tell people to allow for the possibility there is an afterlife so then they won't waste another minute of their life arguing about it like I did." I mention David Kirkpatrick in the podcast, as he wrote a wonderful memory of Cindy on his Facebook page. Some may think I'm directing Jennifer in these questions - but since we've been doing this for eight years, I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone - for me that's a waste of time and energy when she's done that so many times already. Plus she works with law enforcement daily pro bono. I'm not the only one who knows how talented she is (JenniferShaffer.com) I don't know if Ron or George or Fred will ever see this podcast, but they're specifically mentioned in here. Our loved ones are NOT GONE. THEY'RE JUST NOT HERE. The data, research, footage from UVA Medical school DOPS demonstrates consciousness is not confined to the brain. It's not my opinion, theory or belief that people say the same things about the afterlife using hypnotherapy, meditation or in this case mediumship - it's footage. Examples are in flipsidemyfilm.com, "Talking to Bill Paxton" on Gaia, or HackingTheAfterlifeFilm.com . And to Bill Hudson - whom I don't know - Cindy says "you can have it." She says you'll know what that means. We hope so.

I first became familiar with her as Prunella in the 1965 Rodgers and Hammerstein's adaptation of Cinderella and became an instant fan. Please join me as I celebrate her with colleagues who knew her best as we celebrate her career, life, and body of WORTH! We are joined by Christine Fournier, Dan Goggin (Nunsense), and Lesley Ann Warren!
Join me to celebrate the 50th episode with a very special guest. Ron Hicklin is the unknown singer behind the backing vocals of hundreds of recording artists. His vocal group, The Ron Hicklin Singers, became the “go to” backing vocalists for the top groups and solo artists, and were the real singers behind the background vocals of David Cassidy and The Partridge Family. Ron rarely gives interviews, but today shares with me some of the highlights of his career working with some of the biggest stars on the planet from Elvis to The Three Tenors. He was also the voice of Alvin in The Chipmunks, and a ghost singer for The Monkees. He describes himself as a “hidden star” whose voice has featured on around 100 number one hits; up to 400 movies, television themes including Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Batman, Flipper, plus radio and tv commercials. Ron kept detailed notes about every session over the 4 year run of the Partridge Family television series, a breakdown of which can be found on the website: The PF Recording Sessions! (cmongethappy.com) As a youngster he loved singing, joined a local singing group and formed his own group when 11 years old. Ron graduated from Renton High School in Washington and had planned on becoming a doctor studying at the University of Washington, but his first love music was pulling him back. At 19 he and his group signed with Capitol Records but realised he did not want to be a star and abandoned that for studio work. In the 1980s, Ron created Killer Music to write, perform and produce custom commercials which led to the company becoming the best in the business. This led to the creation of a catalogue music production company, Killer Tracks, which he again took to the top of the charts.
Larry Hankin is perhaps the most recognized “that guy” character actor in Hollywood; having appeared in over 200 films and TV shows, you definitely know his face. His filmography reads like a who's who of Hollywood he has had roles in Laverne & Shirley, Friends, Escape from Alcatraz, Billy Madison, Home Alone, Seinfeld, Breaking Bad. He's also a writer and short film director (one of his films even earned him an Oscar nomination) and a painter. Larry shares that as a young child 70-odd years he had this huge creativity in him but it was knocked out of him by parents who wanted him to have a stable career as a doctor or lawyer. He shares the pressure of what it was like to try to shove down his own desire to be an artist to obey his parents wishes, Larry opens up about what having ADD, ADHD, OCD, & Dyslexia has been like for him and the gifts these things have given him along the way - but my favourite moment comes towards the end of the show when he muses about what it was like to star alongside Clint Eastwood in Escape from Alcatraz. He muses about the importance of failure and how we have to come to accept it, because it is a part of learning. And at one point he gets esoteric about why we're here and why the cosmos let us in. Larry's life story comes across as a wild, lucky adventure - opening for Miles Davis, getting hired by Second City, Starring beside Clint Eastwood and even being nominated for an Oscar. Through listening to Larry it becomes obvious very quickly that whether he wanted to or not Larry always placed Creativity in the Driver's seat of his life. I suspect it was because of this that he managed to manifest so many of these incredible experiences for himself. Larry and I talked about the importance of Acceptance (which happened to be the word I pulled for the show) and acceptance is something that he embodies this so perfectly. He had these things inside him that he just had to follow. And he accepted that there was almost another person inside him running the show and that his job was just to do the things in the outside world to set that inside guy up. I was struck by Larry's unabashed loyalty to his own quiet inner voice. From the time he was so small he saw that the people around him didn't want him to live for himself and despite immense pressure to obey them, to make them happy, to fulfull his obligations as a SON, he never betrayed himself. He followed his heart and it led him on some incredible adventures. When he said, “I'm here to do what I'm here to do. That's why I was born and that's why the Cosmos let me in” I actually got the chills. That loyalty to his inner self, no matter what pressures were presenting themselves to him, is something I aspire to. He has some beautiful (and affordable!) artwork available from his website you'll find all the links and a FULL Transcript of the show in the show notes on Kate ShepherdCreative.com If you have not already left a review please do that right now! It's time for Why Does This Exist? Part 2! We're going to watch Laverne and Shirley and a pig, along with Fonzie and his dog, who are in the army and go back in time for a caveman wedding. Yep. And then we'll watch child versions of the superstars of WWE hang out at summer camp and commit/solve eyebrow crimes. It's as baffling as it sounds. Plus, Matsy tries to talk about only good cartoons, succeeding in recommending Kid Cosmic before getting crushed under the weight of Human Resources and that Rescue Rangers trailer, while Micah helps us rank cartoon females and gets lost navigating Chinese White Snakes and Green Snakes. If you smell what the AnCels are cooking! Cartoons in this episode: Laverne & Shirley with The Fonz, "One Million Laughs B.C." Camp WWE, "Not Without My Eyebrow"

Maybe you won't like our episode about Wayne's World. Yeah, and monkeys might fly out of our butts. This is the movie that taught a generation how to rock out to Bohemian Rhapsody. It *may* have inspired Michael Scott's favorite joke. And it's gotta be the only film ever to make fun of Laverne & Shirley, Nuprin, and visiting Delaware. It's the standard by which all other Saturday Night Live movies are measured, but does Wayne's World stand the Test of Time?
