Finally broke my Soul of Sydney duck. I went to their very first party at Sydney Park maybe 14 years ago with my then two little boys. The youngest who was only two took to it like a duck. He dragged me into the middle of the makeshift dancefloor and started dancing. He didn't want to leave.Fast forward to 2025 and I'm the one behind the decks spinning vinyl classics from 91-94. It was a beautiful sunny day and the vibe reflected it. Smiley happy house heads everywhere you looked.I wasn't sure what I was going to play, but as set time approached Terry playing before me was putting some thickness out of those speakers, so I started with something chunkier to match - Frankie Knuckles 2005 hit - Back In The Day.From there it was back to back classics, not the big obvious ones, you hear them all the time at classics events. No this was the cool stuff that we all loved but it stayed very much underground. The only exception is towards the end when I decided to drop my latest track - Beautiful Persons. It samples Beautiful People which meant it fit nicely alongside tracks more than 30 years older. So many kind words from everyone after the set. Such a wicked crowd, as most older crowds are, knowledgable, friendly, want to have fun, and don't have their phones out all the time - THEY ACTUALLY LIVE IN THE MOMENT!!!Huge thank you to Phil & Sam for having me onboard. Well done to the other DJs, the music was solid from start to finish. And we can't leave out the energies bunny that is Mirrah Reflects
What happens when love turns into a game of blackjack, where hearts are the chips and emotions set the stakes? Join us on Wild FM Radio as we, Elektra Rain and my AI co-host, Nova Circuit, take you on a rollercoaster through the soulful landscapes of love and heartbreak. This episode promises a deep dive into Adrian Stone's haunting melody, "The Love I Once Found," where lost love lingers like a ghost in the corridors of the heart. We'll share a laugh about the lighter side of letting go—saying goodbye to shared gym memberships and Netflix passwords. Charles Carter's "Barroom Belle" will then sweep you off your feet with its enchanting tale of a woman whose allure leaves a trail of spellbound admirers. To add another dimension, Tiffany Vaughn's "Love's a Game" will have you picturing smoky jazz lounges where love is both a seductive dance and a high-stakes gamble. Her raw, evocative lyrics beautifully capture the pain of love lost, weaving a tapestry of emotion that resonates with anyone who's ever played—and lost—the game of love. We'll wrap up by celebrating resilience with an unnamed track that champions self-reliance. So pour a glass of something strong, light a candle, and let your spirit roam free with us as we celebrate the wild, untamed heart of Wild Radio. This week, Kate begins by recapping her experience seeing Wicked twice and shares her favorite Easter eggs, then answers listener voicemails that are a combination of nostalgic pop culture, millennial travel icons, and a witchy women's studies lesson. In this episode, Kate reassures listeners that when America decides, it's not always on our side, as evidenced by many years of questionable voting behavior from the majority that brought us the Soul Patrol on American Idol. Then she pilots something she'll never do again called Bethtern Civ, where she explores the medieval demonizing of folk magic and pagan rituals later referred to as ‘witchcraft' in the context of it being in opposition to the Christianization of the West. Lastly, she snorkels millennial queen/icon/legend, Samantha Brown: Travel Guide, and Kate shares how Sam's sensible haircut and can-do attitude at waterparks inspired her modern love for hotels and resorts. It's also about Ian and Claire, two kids whose grandfather passes away, but unfortunately gets his soul crushed in the fist of an evil dead inventor called Zachariah Kull. Dia Wall is one of the realest. Periodt. This sista is what I call part of the “Soul Patrol” on KSHB. As an award-winning journalist, Dia does her duty reporting the news. But she does something else I admire. She knows her agency. Dia shows up in her space unapologetically. She's not just a face at the table but uses her voice and personal perspective, bringing attention to what impacts us – as women, mothers, community members and Black people. Representation without voice is only a checked box; there's no power. We see Dia use her voice on-air but she brings that same passion behind the scenes. She is bold. An advocate. Authentically Dia at all times. That gives her power. That's why I had to sit down with the sista. Dia is more than a professional host, storyteller, writer and speaker. She's also a fervent leader who believes in connecting women through our shared experiences and being real. And sis delivers in her book, “The UnHappiest One.” While it can appear some of us have it all, many still feel empty. If you can relate, this is a convo you don't want to miss. Dia keeps it a band about her life: highs and lows, crazy keyboard thugs, fights with her hubby, dealing with her inner self-critic and more. And although she says she's not a preacher, sis needs an offering because she delivers a real sermon! Lean in as Dia Wall shares lessons learned and more about her "sort of" memoir, The Unhappiest One.
Sam and Emma host Nick Estes, host of The Red Nation Podcast, to discuss his recent book Red Nation Rising: From Bordertown Violence To Native Liberation, on the relationship between policing and surveillance, and Native communities in the US, both inside and out of reservations. Nick, Emma, and Sam begin with the recent assaults of native folks that instigated the founding of Red Nation, and what the role of Bordertowns, lying just outside of reservations, plays in the policing of indigenous communities, before Nick Estes walks us through the relationship between Black and Native communities reaching back deep into the 20th Century, exploring Minneapolis as a meeting ground in the 1960s with the Soul Patrol and American Indian Movement attempting to police the police and keep their community members safe. Next, Emma and Nick look into how the current Line 3 pipeline protests, alongside previous pipeline violence such as DAPL, expresses the direct parallels between the “us versus them” mentality that police take when confronted with communities of color, regardless of urban or rural environments, and the military strategy that leads these coalitions of law enforcement agencies, with national guard policy currently promoting lethal force in protection of pipeline infrastructure. Estes wraps up the interview touching on the book as a primer for the tools to understand the role of capitalism and state intervention on behalf of industry in this exploitation and violence, the continued claiming of native lands, and the parallels between international fights for decolonization. Sam and Emma conclude the free half with an update on Cuomo's resignation and infrastructure progress. And in the Fun Half: Nomiki Konst joins Sam and Emma to say goodbye to our first Black, Jewish, Muslim, Lesbian, AND Disabled governor, as they chat about Cuomo's departure and his potential replacements, including Kathy Hochul, Letitia James, and Tom Suozzi. Next, they move onto discussions on Biden's handling of the pandemic and mask efficacies, admire Bill Hemmer's clear dedication to German philosophy, and Mike Lindell continues to Mike Lindell. Sam and Nomiki debate the correlations between anti-science rhetoric and general misogyny, racism, and toxic masculinity from the alt-right, and they give a quick rundown on potential features of the reconciliation package, plus, your IMs! Our mission here at the Music Museum is to support all Vietnam Veterans and those who serve the United States, then and now. We thank you for your service. During the entire length of the Vietnam War, soul music ruled the airwaves. AFVN Radio played and played the Motown Sound. It was this music that got you through another day, another day closer to going home. Music was a big part of a soldier’s down time that centered within the hooches of Vietnam. And soul music is a big part of the “Soundtrack of the Vietnam War.” Of course, laughter is good medicine, but MUSIC is the best medicine. Thanks for being a part of our ongoing Homecoming celebration. Welcome Home. Our shows are broadcast around the world. There is no opinion offered on the War. It’s all about the music. First, we would like to offer a HUGE thank you to our friend April "Royal Hawaiian" Hom who came up with the concept for tonight's show. Two weeks ago the country of Japan as well as the wrestling world was set on its collective ear when Hana Kimura, a popular wrestler with Japan's Stardom promotion who also starred in the Japanese Netflix reality show Terrace House commited suicide as a result of cyberbullying. She was only 22 years old. In the aftermath of her death both parties in Japan's Diet legislature are hard at work crafting an anti cyberbullying bill to try and stop these tragedies from happening again. This really hit one of April's good friends, the head of the Minnesota Wrestling Hall Of Fame, Carol Castle. Carol's son, a firefighter, committed suicide. Now Carol already had a suicide prevention program aimed at first responders, but the Hana Kimura case got her to realize wrestlers go through depression and even bullying. Through the Minnesota Wrestling Hall Of Fame,https://minnesotawrestlinghalloffame.com/wrestling-for-life/ she had created the Life Coin program. Carol will explain what the Life Coin program is and how it can help potentially save someone's life. We will also welcome back Cheryl "Lightning" Rusa and for their first appearances with us, Camen Wickert, who under the name Envy was one half of Soul Patrol and also appeared on POWW as Lady Soul & Essence. We were supposed be joined by Ku'uipo Siler, who was Little Feather on GLOW, whose father committed suicide, but as of now she is headed to the hospital for the birth of her first grandchild. Congratulations. We will try to make sure we add some light moments but we want to make sure this very important subject is not only addressed, but if anyone needs any help, we urge you to call in.

Welcome to "Meet the Musicians" with Jake Laughlin. On this episode we have Soul Patrol.
THIS WEEK... In a recent study conducted by the Barna Group, 47% of Christian Millennials think it's wrong to share their faith. We were skeptical. Do Christian Millennials really want to avoid sharing their faith, and expressing their beliefs? Or is the idea of evangelism going through a period of redefinition? If you grew up in the church, the act of evangelizing probably paid a significant role in your faith. After all, in the Bible, Jesus does command his disciples to go out unto the world and spread His message, a la the Great Commission. But what exactly does that mean? Does it mean we should be standing on the street corners shouting through a megaphone? Is evangelizing approaching strangers on the street to simply talk about Jesus? Is the wordless book and pre-prepared spiels effective tools in introducing someone to a brand new faith? We recount our own experiences in evangelism and discuss how we personally feel about evangelizing, and offer many thoughts on the study that was conducted by Barna (spoiler alert: we do not agree). Our first American Idol winner! This weeks' album is brought to you by a current 42 year-old who was 30, but looked 50, when he won on the show. Taylor Hicks, in this self-titled album, brings a little bit of soul with not a whole lot of anything else to spice it up which is just what we'd expect from the lowest ranked 'Idol' winner to date. Come and join us!
Welcome to Reel Travels and the last episode of 2018! My very special guest is Taylor Hicks! You might know him as the winner of season five of American Idol, but he's been super busy since taking the title! Just recently, he spent three seasons hosting State Plate, the original travel series from INSP, where he trekked across all 50 states in pursuit of the foods that best represent that piece of America. You can now watch all three seasons on Amazon Prime! (Doooo it!) Taylor talks to me about his time on the show -- was there anything he didn't like? -- traveling and his new music coming in the spring! Soul Patrolers take note! I also ask him the hard-hitting questions, such as what's his favorite foods? drinks? movies? television shows? We had a blast talking and I'm so happy to bring this to you. I would like to thank everyone for such a successful year of Reel Travels. I have a lot in the works for next year and I'm excited to bring it all to you. I would like to thank my sponsors (Mario Scalzi of Parker Villas is my sponsor of this episode! https://www.parkervillas.com/), everyone who has purchased my book, A Film & TV Lover's Travel Guide, all of my guests and celebrities who came on Reel Travels this year and you, my listeners, who have given me great feedback, shared my show and made this a success! See you in 2019!

We begin with my Mt. Rushmore of sports-entertainment wrestling. Keep in mind, this is mine and I claim no more than that. I entered the world of wrestling in the vicinity of 1984 with all of the passion of a pudgy, awkward ten-year old after I moved to Connecticut, and I exited that world, and Connecticut, in 1989 with equal abruptness and all the passion of a skinny, still awkward, and now pubescent fourteen-year-old who just had his mind cracked open by GnR’s, “Appetite for Destruction” and a VHS porn I found in the recesses of some forbidden drawer. (Yeah, I know. It’s a lot to process. Just let it go and move on. I did.) So…here goes. 1. Hulk Hogan (…because…Hulk Hogan.) 2. Dwayne Johnson (…because…he’s like Hulk Hogan times Hollywood minus all of the Hogan BS.) 3. Rocky Johnson (…that’s the Rock’s dad. He was a straight up, no gimmick bad ass…as was his tag team partner Tony Atlas. Actually, his only gimmick involved his pecs, several tattoes on said pecs, and the movement of said tattos on said pecs. Check out this video of the Soul Patrol.) 4. Bob Backlund (…the first match I ever watched, on a console television, involved Bob Backlund. Backlund ushered in the Hogan era via the Iron Sheik. Also, I just love a crazy ginger.) Mark then goes WWE/F “inside baseball” and leans quite Lampley as he describes his Mt. Rushmore of wrestling music and gimmickry. His decision, without much thought and yet with five cocktails coursing through his blood: 1. Hulk Hogan, “Real American.” (But seriously, this is a horrible song. Lyically, musically, vocally…it’s a triple-decker heaping pile of poo on a platter. And the video. It highlights all that was actually wrong with the 80’s. This is my opinion only. Not Mark’s. Not yours. But hey, it’s my blog.) 2. Dwayne Johnson, “If you smell what the Rock is cookin‘.” 3. Randy Savage, “Pomp and Circumstance.” 4. C.M. Punk, “Cult of Personality.” (Later, Mark would mention the Undertaker’s gimmick, and how it should likely be on this list. So, there it is parenthetically. And here it is on Fallon.) Things kind of spiral from here, but the ride was fun…and as the cars return to the point from which they began, we close out this quintet of quirk and anti-quotidian chaos with one of the hardest, most-head-bangingest songs of the late 80’s, “Cult of Personality,” by Living Color. Oh, and I should mention, we begin this final leg of our marktastic journey with one of the chillest, funkiest, hippy-dippiest tunes from the same year (1988), “What I Am,” by Edie Brickell & New Bohemians. We present to you, “No, That’s Not Jim Lampley. (Mark, pt 5).” THAT…is Jim Lampley.

Join us for our compelling series, "life isn't a dress rehearsal." On this episode we will discuss your soul, and "you" needing you. We all know that dealing with your soul is a daily and emotional task. It's also a task that we must "do" in order to get to the next phase in our lives. In all of that, it comes down to truly needing yourself. If you don't show yourself how important "you" are and how much you need you, then you will never see the other side of how great you can see yourself. Remember; seeing yourself in a truly amazing way and knowing you are in control of yourself is a beautiful feeling. Tune in as we discuss soul patrol and needing you. Stay tuned and keep it locked.
Join us for our compelling and eye opening series; "Life Isn't A Dress Rehearsal." On this episode we will discuss healing your soul and loving yourself from the inside out. In life we tend to go through many things. Everything from relationships, career, family, and so much more-we as individuals will experience it all. What we don't take ourselves through is truly taking care of ourselves and doing the work to love ourselves. This in itself will have an even greater tramatic effect on our lives in more ways than one. We must do the work on ourselves in order to love ourselves no matter what. Tune in as we dive into "soul patrol and love." Stay tuned and keep it locked.
John and Bob Davis of Soul-Patrol.com wrap up their conversation on notable 2013 events.
In part one of a two-part conversation, John and Bob Davis talk about and comment on the events that transpired on www.Soul-Patrol.com and in the Funkisphere for 2013.
Join us for our compelling series; "Life Isn't A Dress Rehearsal." On this episode we will explore what it takes to be the soul police for ourselves. It's called "soul patrol." Most of us have that intuition to know when something is wrong, but many of us don't adhere to the signs to fix it. Meaning, our issues stems from the inside out. For the many of us, we just pass through life like "things" or "people" will fix us or heal us. "WRONG!" Healing only happens when we as individuals ahere to the our crying souls. Healing takes place when we listen to our own pain and troubles from within. It takes places when we as individuals make the decision to heal ourselves. It's time to "heal" and it only can only be done by you and only you. Tune in as we explore what it takes to heal ourselves with our own souls. Stay tuned and keep it locked.
Bob Davis of Soul-Patrol.com is back in the FIFD Universe to wrap up another thought provoking conversation with John in the Funkisphere!

Episode 19- Aired 1/10/06 The Sonic Society This week in the Society we return to a fan favourite, "The Soul Patrol" by David Koenigsberg. Our heroes of the Soul Patrol investigate the kinds of terrible crimes only humans could commit upon each other. They explore the psyche's of villains that most likely go undetected by mere mortal law enforcement, and that brings some interesting questions to mind. There's some long abiding principles that have run out of favour in our society today. The idea of "sinning in thought" is not considered nearly as important compared to sinning in deed. Episode #1 Aired: 9/06/2005 This week we kick off the festivities with a little soul searching. Are we alone? Or does God have control over everything? Shall we leave it in his hands, or take actions ourselves. In my own writings I've often considered exactly what part the celestial plays in the affairs of humanity.
