While it Hazbin (pun intended) a little bit since our last episode, the Fallout (I will stop now) will be short. Tara and I lose our caps over Amazon Prime's new show Fallout, based on the video game of the same name, has blown away critics and fans alike. Directed by Jonathan Nolan and starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins. Finally we get to talk about one of our surprise top shows of the year, and quite possibly of all time. We sing praises for the Amazon Prime show Hazbin Hotel. Created by Vivienne Medrano and starring Erika Henningsen, Stephanie Beatriz, Blake Roman, Keith David and Amir Talai. When Lucifer's Daughter, Charlie Morningstar, opens up a hotel in hell to help sinners get a second chance to get into heaven. Not everyone thinks she is up for the task, but with the help of some intense friends, she will prove she is every bit her namesake. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/troyandtarawatch/message

When I was 5 years old, a movie came out that would change me forever. I'm talking about Jurassic Park and in celebrating it's 30th anniversary, Tara and I went to see the special edition in 3D. Then after looking at where this series started we look at where it ended with Jurassic World Dominion and where it went all wrong. Then as a palette cleanser, we watch 65 and see the "inspirations" it takes from Jurassic Park. On this episode of Troy and Tara watch we talk about Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein and starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Rege-jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis and Hugh Grant. This was a great movie with memorable moments throughout that had us laughing till it hurt, striking the perfect balance of light hearted humor that never got too corny... Unlike our 2nd movie that we discuss, Burlesque, yes, that Burlesque from 2010 starring Christina Aguilera and Cher. Why you might ask? Bodies Bodies Bodies starring Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Rachel Sennott, Chase Sui Wanders, Pete Davidson, Myha'la Herrold and Lee Pace and directed by Halina Reijn. This movie hooked me in with the trailer and did not disappoint on the funny quips and insults that only can be pulled off by a 20-somthing of this millennium, with twists that keep you guessing who you should trust. On this episode we discuss an absolute homerun of a show in A League of Their Own, out now on Amazon Prime. Written and Starring Abbi Jacobson, this amazing show is not only filled with an outstanding cast; Abbi Jacobson, Chante Adams, D'Arcy Carden and Gbemisola Ikumel to name a few but also top notch writing. While this is not an exact copy of the 1992 movie starring Gina Davis, it does use it as a frame work for the characters and the time period to tell a much more poignant and inclusive story that has time develop over its 8 episode arc. Finally we discuss the 2nd season of Only Murders in the Building, out now on Hulu and our first impressions of Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon and Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. Turning Red is steaming now on Disney+ and stars Rosalie Chiang as Meilin and Sandra Oh as Ming. Directed by Domee Shi, this Disney Pixar movie was a surprising fun and enjoyable story set in 2002 Toronto with 13 year old Chinese-Canadian girl Meilin. We don't want to spoil this movie too much but with a great animation style and amazing voice acting from the cast, it's easy to recommend this movie. We also swing into the new Spider Man: No Way Home and go spoiler heavy right away but we talk about why this movie has made the money that it has. Superhero here....superhero there....They're everywhere but now James Gunn has given us his first look at a superhero show with his "unique" brand of comedy. Peacemaker is a spin-off from Gunn's 2021 movie "The Suicide Squad" played by John Cena and stars Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante... I mean, Adrian Chase, Jennifer Holland as Agent Harcourt and Steve Agee as John Economos aka "dye beard" and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith aka White Dragon aka Peacemakers dad. We pretty much love everything about this show and we highly recommend it. Finally, we watch the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife and even though I have a few issues with the story and how they handled the extra characters, it was still a great movie that made us laugh and smile all through out. Written and Directed by Jason Reitman and staring McKenna Grace as Phoebe, Finn Wolfhard as Trevor, Paul Rudd as Grooberson and Carrie Coon as Callie. So join us once more as we watch and talk about Peacemaker and Ghostbusters: Afterlife --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/welcometothenightside/message
While we stick to the theme of murder shows, Tara and I watch one of the longest show titles we have ever watched and try to make it make sense from the mixed reviews coming out about this show. The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is more than just a mouthful, its a show that runs a thin line of being a drama and being a satire on the genre that it takes it's inspiration from. While most people may have a issues with what this show wants to be, Tara and I just embrace it for the oddness that it is. Spoilers at the 14 minute mark. As we now have finished Yellowjackets on Showtime, our craving for another season has only grown. The first minutes of this show teased us with something that we just wanted to know more about, both in how we got there and how the characters will end up with trying to live normal lives after a very tragic event. Finally we go into a preview of Murderville, out now on Netflix, so join us on Troy and Tara Watch. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/welcometothenightside/message
Due to a mysterious reason...our first attempt at recording this episode did not turn our well....to say the least. But now with that out of the way, Tara and I get to talking about Netflix's Archive 81. This supernatural thriller about at man hired to restore a set of VHS tapes that were damaged in an apartment fire, but not everything is as it seems and the further he digs the more he finds out how everything is connected! Even though we are late to the party.... we start finally start HBO's Search Party. Now on its 5th season, we try to make sense of the reckless choices made by main character Dory. Then in true Troy and Tara fashion, we go off on a tangent about other great shows including HBO's The Righteous Gemstones and Disney+'s The book of Boba Fett and why Mando still has our hearts. So join us as we go on a rant about what we are watching on another episode of Troy and Tara Watch! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/welcometothenightside/message
Not knowing what we were getting into, Tara and I watched The White Lotus on HBO Max, with little explanation as to what it would be. Needless to say, if you have seen it, is that this is a 6 episode drama/dark comedy that is meant to make you feel angry and upset with almost every person you meet and the conversations they have, but not in a bad way. What makes this a must watch is not the comedy or the drama but its the message... you are supposed to get upset and frustrated and that not everything is going to have a happy ending. Then doing a complete 180 we talk about Disney's Encanto. The music, the art and animation all make this a great move but the cast and the writing make it even more amazing. This has been one of Tara's top movies and it's not hard to see why. So come and join us as we get frustrated and upset but also excited and happy as we discuss what we watched. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/welcometothenightside/message
Before we get to far into the Christmas Season, we try to keep the scary alive with a watching of Werewolves Within! This hidden gem of a movie that released July 2, 2021 stars Sam Richardson and Milana Vayntrub, directed by Josh Ruben and written by Mishna Wolff, based off a 2016 VR video game from Ubisoft, similar to Among Us. This suspenseful comedy shows the best of its cast and each of the characters that come into the scene. Tara and I are no strangers when it comes to competition shows and we felt like this was the perfect time to discuss what works, what doesn't, our top 3 and what we would make into a competition show.
