Welcome true believers to X-Men Horoscopes where each week our host Lodro Rinzler is in conversation with a special guest to discuss the X-Men issue that aligns with a significant month and year from their life and what that issue reveals about their future. Erica Schultz, comic writer extraordinaire, joins our host Lodro Rinzler for the Season 2 finale of X-Men Horoscopes! We dive into the classic X-Men issue 105 where Jean finally figures out she's a giant cosmic bird. Eric the Red (FML that I have to explain Eric the Red) has manipulated the former herald of Galactus Firelord - basically if a matchstick took the form of a person - into taking out the X-Men and only Jean can sort of stop them! We also get a sneak peek at Erica's new series: Laura Kinney the Wolverine, hitting stands this December. Also in this episode: Who is the alien Captain America? What cause will Erica flip her own desk over to defend? Why the new Wolverine series has an all-female creative team Firelord is just a giant matchstick who won't stop talking about the last job he was fired from Eric the Red is the reason Lodro drinks Erica yells at Lodro about his categorization of New York City neighborhoods Jean has the most expensive apartment in NYC and now her security deposit is gone Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum fight on panel Cyclops sees Jean's new power and is torn between "this is sexy" and "I'm terrified" and has lived there ever since Misty Knight gets a bad break in the roommate department This and much more in the finale of Season 2 for X-Men Horoscopes! We will be back in a few weeks with a power-packed Season 3 and, as always, thanks for listening! Erica Schultz is a Ringo Award nominated comic book writer (and editor and instructor and letterer). She is the creator of Forgotten Home (nominated for five Ringo Awards in 2020, published by comiXology Originals and Dark Horse Comics), the co-creator of Bylines in Blood, the co-creator of Strange Tails with Claire Connelly (nominated for a Ringo Award in 2020), co-creator of M3, and creator of Twelve Devils Dancing from Action Lab Danger Zone. Erica has written everything. For Marvel she's written Moon Knight, Black Widow, Daredevil, Hallows' Eve, Beta Ray Bill, Wolverine, Spider-Man, X-23, and Misty Knight. For Image: Spawn: Rat City and The Deadliest Bouquet. You can follow her on Instagram and Twitter (she calls it Twitter still, you might call it X) and check out her very cool stuff here. This week's guest is David Pepose, the writer and co-creator of the Ringo Award-nominated comic Spencer & Locke as well as Going To The Chapel. from Action Lab Danger Zone. As the comic book industry experiences huge shakeups in publishing and distributing, creators like David Pepose are looking to more crowdfunding ventures such as Kickstarter to appeal to a wider audience that might not have the backing of a traditional publisher. Adrian speaks with David about what inspired his latest comic The O.Z., which is described as The Hurt Locker meets The Wizard of Oz. The conversation then shifts into the marketing of said title, as it is David's first Kickstarter comic and he breaks down his experience with a new outlet of potential readers. There's also talk about what the continual shift towards crowdfunding means for the direct market and the future of indie/mainstream comics and coming to the realization that we're not Keanu Reeves (but that's okay).

Horror is a genre that allows us to explore our fears, society's fears, and use it as an expression to bring out our struggles. This extends from cultural issues to personal issues like illness. in Dillon Gilbertson's Sweet Heart from Action Lab: Danger Zone, monsters are everywhere and no one is safe. As the ComixCentral’s 2018 People’s Choice award-winner, Sweet Heart is a new horror comic series created and written by Gilbertson, with art by Ghastly Award-winner, Francesco Laquinta, and colors by Marco Pagnotta. Over the winter holidays, I got a chance to speak with Gilbertson about this new story, the message it holds in its terrifying pages and how horror can be used to tell deep stories. In the interview, Gilbertson explains how the series began as a thinly veiled analogy for his life with diabetes that grew to represent ta number of chronic health, psychological, and personal issues many people deal with every day. He dives into why horror was the medium of choice to tell this story and more.

This week I spoke with Michael R. Martin, the writer of Blood and Dust from Action Lab: Danger Zone.  This is a stellar horror comic that I described as Vampire Clint Eastwood fights Swamp Thing.  Really cool stuff.  Michael has an inspiring journey as a creator.  He went through all kinds of trials and tribulations to get this book made and he never gave up.  It shows the lengths that a creator can go when he just has to tell his story.   Michael can be found online on Twitter. Also, if you like this show, you might like my other show, Raging Nerdon where I chat about nerdy things with my co-host BJ Boothe.  This week we dive into some trailers most notably the recent ones for Justice League and Spider-Man Homecoming.  It’s a good time to be a nerd.   SUBSCRIBE: RSS | iTunes | Google Play | Stitcher Music by Eric Matyas (www.soundimage.org)
