Stand-up comedian James Stanley tells us that becoming a comic is its own right of passage - to be a great headliner, you have to have been through all the tests, and by then, you've got to have the hour you need.He earned his stripes. Most recently, he got stuck in a blizzard between Winona and Minneapolis, and a farm hand had to dig him out: literally! With his life saved and his career rolling, he jams with Dan Bublitz Jr about performing in small towns, how/when to work on new stuff, doing political humor, sticking to your stuff in the face of the audience, and several useful merch ideas.James StanleyJames Stanley started his journey in stand up comedy in 2013 when he was 16 years old. Now James works every clubs in Minneapolis and is beginning to tour more and more of the Country. James has opened for and worked with names in the comedy works such as Stavros Halkias, Sean Patton, Nimesh Patel, Dean Edwards, and Geoffrey Asmus. James is also one of the hosts of the ‘This Is Something, Man' podcast and runs a weekly mic at Laugh Camp Comedy in St. Paul. https://www.jamesstanleycomedy.com/home-1https://www.youtube.com/user/jamesstanleycomedianhttps://www.instagram.com/jamesstanleycomedy/?hl=enhttps://www.tiktok.com/@jamesstanleycomedyArt of Bombing:"Nobody Had a Podcast Called The Art of Bombing" Theme by John Hult https://johnhult.bandcamp.com/album/half-a-life-to-recoverBumpers provided by https://www.facebook.com/joenicolamusic Website: https://www.artofbombingpod.com/ Links: https://linktr.ee/artofbombingpodHosts:Dan Bublitz Jr: http://www.danbublitz.com/ Josh Shirley: http://www.joshshirleycomedy.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-art-of-bombing-a-guide-to-stand-up-comedy--5788059/support.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze has been blasted by critics, and while it was beloved by children back in the 90s, what do those kids think now? Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello take on the Shredder (or spoiler alert: they don't) and try to save New York one more time, while also learning where they came from! Let's imagine a Ninja Turtle movie where they never use their weapons, but are sticklers for observing the traditional pre-fight donut. Clint, Mel, James, and Bob are back with Chuck Norris as he face-kicks his way through South America taking on the cartel. Billy Drago plays the perfect early 90s slimeball cocaine mogul as he sends his endless supply of henchmen to take on Chuck before he seizes his mountains of coke. The movie is a complete departure from Delta Force 1 which tried to say something important, it failed, but at least it tried. What do you think of Delta Force 2? Stephanie, Joe, and the Mayor are back in Perfection alongside Burt Gummer as he continues to have the worst luck ever. No matter how many killer dirtworms (aka Graboids) he takes out, they seem to follow him all over the world. This time, back in his hometown, will he be able to stop them for good? Given that there are 7 Tremor's movies, I'm guessing no. At least we can have fun roasting all of this ridiculousness along the way. What if Ben Affleck amid "misses" Forces of Nature and Bounce, made a heist movie that had plot twists on top of its plot twists, featuring an unhinged Gary Sinise and a young (crazy) Charlize Theron? A recipe for success you might think, but Reindeer Games got blasted by critics, and audiences and it bombed financially. Where did it go wrong? It had a great writer and an all-time director John Frankenheimer. Is it time to re-assess Reindeer Games or does it deserve its spot in the garbage heap of 90's cinema? Imagine the pitch meeting - "It's Santa Claus, right, but this one has muscles!" PRINT THE MONEY! Now, the rest of us are left to pick up the pieces of Hulk Hogan's Santa With Muscles (1996). Previous Hulk Hogan movies had him playing different versions of himself, and here he attempts to act and play a different character. It goes about as well as you'd expect. Many questions will be answered - how did Mila Kunis bury this performance? How can a lawn ornament bench press 300 pounds? Why is Ed Leslie playing an Asian? We'll pull it all apart, and then give out some awards, including our worst actor award, the "Steve Seagal" Trash Can Full of Dirt. Not too many movies out there featuring Jet Li in dreadlocks, but this is where we find ourselves. Even though The One (2001) is rated very low by critics, some swear this is an awesome movie. The movie made us laugh, we're just not sure it was supposed to. It also features one of the best Jet Li fights we've ever seen. We go scene by scene and answer the important questions - how did Jet Li get with Carla Gugino? Why is the only thing different in each parallel universe his hairdo? Why does Jason Statham have hair, and why can't he fight in this? We'll pull it all apart, and then give out some awards, including our worst actor award, the "Steve Seagal" Trash Can Full of Dirt. In his 1794 'A Review of the Manks History', David Robertson has given quick overviews of the various members of the Stanley family who were Kings, and later styled themselves Lords, of Man. However, he has a lot more to say about Yn Stanlagh Mooar, James Stanley, the Seventh Earl of Derby. In the latest episode from Bram Stoker's Dracula in translation into Manx, Mina Harker has said that no-one ought to hear the heartfelt anguish in Dr John Seward's voice as he describes the death of Lucy Westenra in a recording on his phonograph diary. John Seward agrees - but then is surprised by Mina Harker's change of mind when she declares that they must. We fairly rattle through the members of the Stanley family who had been given the Kingship of Man, which became known as a Lordship to protect the neck of Thomas Stanley in the court of Henry VIII. David Robertson's 'A Review of the Manks History' has now come to Yn Stanlagh Mooar, James Stanley, the tenth Stanley king/lord of Man and Seventh Earl of Derby. Professor Van Helsing has to return to Amsterdam overnight, so Dr John Seward goes to meet Mina Harker at the station. Each finds out more about the grisly happenings by swapping their personal diaries of events. One of the oldest pubs in the whole of Great Britain, the first recorded mention of Man and Scythe is in a charter in 1251. Over the last 769 years, it has been rebuilt a number of times and it is changed hands many times more. Following the Bolton Massacre of 1000 people on a single day, James Stanley, the seventh Earl of Derby was executed and still haunts the pub to this day (or does he?!) The Ring O'Bells is said to be one of the oldest buildings in Middleton, and may be one of its most haunted. Historically the pub's foundations are thought to date all the way back to Saxon times, and legend has it that a Druidical temple stood at this spot in the Iron Age – perhaps a place of ancient sacrifice. In the Middle Ages it served as a refectory for monks brewing their potent ale, probably in the area where the pubs cellars are currently situated. Join us as we discover what's really going on in these two establishments and also witness some scary CCTV footage. ________ Our book is out now - https://pursuitoftheparanormal.co.uk/shop

Ratma knows what we need to do to sort out J'Michael and fortunately that also overlaps with helping her get rid of a pesky problem. Hopefully Ratma isn't lying... you never know with her. In this episode, Amber's guest is the first Architectural Designer to be on The Wellness Revolution podcast! James Stanley brings a unique perspective to his clients through his weaving of spirituality and Zen into his work. Amber's discussion with James begins with his childhood and growing up in southern California watching his mother expand her business into an empire. As a child and an adolescent, James was fascinated by many different religions. As he entered his 20s, he helped his mother in her business but felt a longing for many years to connect to a higher power. He moved from California to Miami where he encountered a life-changing moment and began studying Egyptian Kabbalah. With his degrees in Engineering, as well as Interior and Architectural Design, James left Miami and headed to New York City. He started his design career through an agency in 2000. After working for an event company for five years, James decided to open James Stanley Designs. He connected with his first client through a friend and designed his first project. James believes it was through this first client who let him express himself that led to him building his own business. James and Amber continue to deep-dive into the meaning of Zen and how to find internal peace and happiness in life. They discuss how to hold on loosely to material things and be aware of that attachment in order to be content with your life's path. Their conversation goes on to connect these principles to creating space in the home for a Zen room or space and how to do this in a practical and budget-friendly way. Amber goes on to discuss with James about meditation and how to connect it to creating a room conducive to that practice. They also delve into the difference between thoughts and meditation and how to grow in deciphering between the two. James and Amber's personal experiences and backgrounds in meditation lead them to talk about some of the obstacles that can come up during the journey into meditation. Tune in to hear more of James' practical advice on how to create a Zen space that is based on your own unique style and tastes, from music and scents to colors and textures. Key Highlights James discusses his background and how it brought him to begin an architectural design company based on his childhood helping his mother in her business Zen and what it means for your home Not getting caught up in the distractions in life Recognizing a thought for just a thought Choosing to feel a certain way Meditation and how it is a journey Practical tips for creating a Zen space in your own home Finding things you love as inspiration for your space Specific budget-friendly ideas for items to design your space Episode Resources: Click here to join the FREE 2-day event happening September 12th & 13th: ambershaw.com/wellness-revolution-event Check out Ever Forward Radio with Chase Chewning Connect with James Website: jamesstanleyny.com/ Instagram: @jamesstanleyny Connect with Amber Instagram: @msambershaw TikTok: @msambershaw Website: ambershaw.com
