Our very own Amy Cohen Epstein sits down with Amy Sutton, Chief Executive Officer of Crossroads4Hope, a community nonprofit organization based in New Jersey helping individuals and families navigate cancer diagnosis and treatment. Amy shares the incredible work being done by Crossroads4Hope to offer emotional support, resources, and guidance to cancer patients and caregivers, with a special focus on our most vulnerable communities. As the Lynne Cohen Foundation continues its mission to expand access to preventive care and early detection through our clinics, it's inspiring to see like-minded organizations focusing on the holistic care of those already battling cancer. Together, organizations like ours help bridge the gaps in healthcare by ensuring that women, in particular, are supported on their entire cancer journey—whether that's through early intervention or emotional support during treatment. For more, follow The Seam on Instagram, watch full episodes on Youtube, or visit the Lynne Cohen Foundation website.Produced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. In this full-circle conversation, Matthew Zachary sits down with Amy Sutton, Executive Director of Crossroads4Hope, to dive deep into the evolution of cancer support and the profound legacy of organizations like the Wellness Community. From reminiscing about pre-internet cancer advocacy to envisioning a future rooted in public health and equity, this episode explores the human side of care in ways only Matthew can deliver—with wit, humor, and an unfiltered lens.Amy shares her journey from working at Rand McNally (yes, the map company) to becoming a torchbearer for cancer patients, caregivers, and survivors. They tackle everything from the challenges of sustaining local cancer support services in a digital-first world to how the healthcare system neglects the psychosocial needs of both patients and caregivers. Together, they unpack the crucial role of social workers, the necessity of caregiver inclusion, and why navigating life post-cancer diagnosis demands more than just clinical solutions.Whether you're a cancer survivor, caregiver, healthcare professional, or just someone trying to make sense of this messy world, this episode promises insights, laughs, and plenty of Gen X nostalgia. Plus, find out why Matthew thinks we should stock up on Rand McNally maps for the apocalypse.Be sure to check out Crossroads4Hope's groundbreaking Professional Development Conference in March 2025, where Matthew will be the keynote speaker. "Tennis" anyone? Marissa is joined this week by Brian Duss for a Very Special Episode. Why so special? For starters, we learn Amy Sutton has some hidden depth of character. But mostly it's because we're getting some **sound trumpets** explicitly gay characters! Alas, "explicit" only in one sense of the word. But still.***Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
Has there been a gas leak in Sweet Valley? We ask this because every single person in this town is behaving in deeply weird ways in this book! Jessica continues to pursue creepy Jeremy, and even the news that his gormless fiancé Sue is terminally ill doesn't put her off. She's also taking a leaf out of Margo's book, making incredibly suspicious remarks in front of her worryingly unobservant friends and family. Meanwhile Liz reaches new heights of hypocrisy when she finds out what Todd got up to on his holidays, Enid and Olivia start acting like Amy Sutton, and Lila weaves a web of lies when she tries to teach Robby November a lesson. The way labour and birth is depicted on film and TV has bugged me for some years and, I think, does little to make women feel empowered. This episode isn't about how or where to give birth - that's your choice - but we do talk about what happens in an uncomplicated vaginal birth.Amy is the Lead Research Midwife in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the university of Cambridge, and study coordinator for the Pregnancy Outcome Prediction Study 2 (POPS2). She's previously worked as a senior research midwife in the NHS, and as the Eastern Regions Champion Research Midwife for the NIHR. Amy received a Chief Midwifery Officer Silver Award in 2020 for her work in reproductive health and childbirth research.Amy has also been an independent midwife, which is when I met her as she delivered my second child. Join our resident Business Ninja Jamie, together with Amy Sutton, CEO of Crossroads4Hope, the safe space where people turn first to restore one's whole being and family. After a diagnosis of cancer, many people find it difficult to get the emotional support they need. This is for different reasons including the fear and uncertainty cancer brings and the complexity of family relationships. cancer support groups reduce stress and pain and improve the overall quality of life and survival for cancer patients. Support groups provide a safe place to share feelings, experiences, and challenges with others who are navigating similar experiences. The Crossroads4Hope network embraces all people touched by cancer — the diagnosed and their loved ones — to become empowered to take control of their health and care, through programs of support, resources, education, wellbeing, and hope. Their programs and service are delivered at no charge to people with cancer, survivors, loved ones, caregivers, and bereaved. For nearly two decades, they have served all those affected by cancer by delivering essential emotional and social support and services when it was needed most. The excellence of their program has improved the lives of tens of thousands of individuals by reducing the burden of cancer, so that individuals could move the health crisis to become empowered with the behaviors that enable them to take control of their health, wellbeing and care.Learn more about them and visit their website at https://crossroads4hope.org/.-----Do you want to be interviewed for your business? Yet again, two Sweet Valley girls are competing for the same guy - but this time there's a twist! Jean West is thrilled when she receives a love letter from Scott Trost - until she discovers he's sent the exact same message to Claire Middleton. The two girls team up to get revenge on Scott with a scheme that has so many holes in it Whizzer Wilkins could use it as a basketball net. Meanwhile, in one of the most entertaining b-plots in ages, an increasingly unhinged Jessica becomes obsessed with a literal dream boy, Liz and Todd clash over whether boys or girls are more shallow (this is Sweet Valley - they're all shallow), and the ghost writer wins our heart with their many digs at Amy Sutton. From the vantage point of 2020, it's unclear whether Sweet Valley High #48, SLAM BOOK FEVER, captured a phenomenon or started one. What we know for sure is that teenagers writing down all their opinions about each other could never, ever go wrong, hurt anyone's feelings, or spawn false rumors. It's Karyn's worst nightmare - Amy Sutton has set her sights on everyone's favourite himbo, Ken Matthews! But when Ken is involved in a car accident that leaves him blind, evil Amy is keen to move on - and she's not the only one at Sweet Valley High who is uncomfortable with Ken's situation. Thank goodness for Karyn's kindred spirit Terri Adams, who has had a crush on Ken for ages and is there to support him as he adjusts to his new life. And as for us, we're so delirious with joy at the demise of a certain orange president (we recorded this on November 8th), we don't even care that the word "fatal" in the title is false advertising or even that a certain teacher doesn't show up. It's tempting to say, "why are all these teen girls so awful?" But then you remember what being a teenage girl is like...which is not to say that Marissa and her guest, Denise Boylan, refrain from calling out teen girls like Amy Sutton, Jessica Wakefield, and even Elizabeth Wakefield on their bullshit. Because then, what would this podcast even be? People who we deem "cool as hell" in this episode: Enid’s Aunt; Amy Sutton’s mom, Dylan Sutton; Denise Hadley; Alice Wakefield? Jake and Amy Sutton are a couple who radiates passion for the Lord and helping people to understand who they are in Christ and what He has gifted them in to serve the Church. As pastors in the local church and parents, they share truths regarding the calling of fathers, mothers, wives and husbands, as well as pieces of their powerful testimony of how the Lord has lead them to understanding their unique callings in each season of their lives.
It's finally here. The one you've all been waiting for. The one that put you off cocaine for life (we hope). Yes, we are gathered together today to celebrate the life and times of the beautiful and saintly Regina Morrow who, when Bruce reverts to his old 1BRUCE1 self and gets off with shameless Amy Sutton, turns to tormented outsider Justin Belson and ends up doing two lines of coke at a party which...well, you know the rest. Don your mourning attire as we, like Regina, head to Kelly's (turns out you can get there without being hijacked!) and raise a glass to the second most perfect girl to ever grace Sweet Valley with her presence. The ending is so emotional we can't even take the piss out of it! You can follow us on Twitter at @svhpodcast and follow the Headstuff Podcast Network on @HSPodnetwork and @ThisHeadstuff
The classic sitcom was wrong - three's definitely not company, as poor old Enid finds out when Elizabeth's childhood best friend Amy Sutton moves back to town. Amy Sutton, founder of Enjoy PR, takes us on her journey from law to PR. She shares why diversity is key to powerful Public Relations. We also explore the importance of relationships in PR and communications, and how to set expectations in client-agency relationships. Amy recently published an article on LinkedIn titled “Kill the PR Girl,” in which she challenges the stereotype of “the PR Girl” and why that stereotype hurts both public relations professionals and their agencies, in part because of the reinforcement of glass ceilings. We explore the importance of diversity in public relations planning, specifically how diverse perspectives drive creativity and effective problem-solving.
As part of our live show last year we also held an audio drama workshop for kids aged 9 - 11. It was part of the Brighton Digital Festival and hosted by ONCA. Here's a clip of what we got up to. Today we interview Davidson, North Carolina's Amy Sutton of Bodywork by Amy Sutton and MY TRIBE Essential Oils about her work as a healer and the plant medicine that is available through pure essential oils. Amy has been connecting with bodies for a long time, listening to what the body needs, beneath the words of her clients. She knows the body does not lie, and in fact, informs us about exactly what is needed! The pharmacy, she says, is provided by nature. Learning how to use that pharmacy is something she passionately teaches about and shares through oil education. Amy says, "I think about the connection that we have to everything, how we impact each other and the world at large. I think about our connection to this planet and how we've grown away from all things natural, and how beautiful mother earth is, as it literally we supports us in every manner....I worry about us as a species and how we've evolved, but devolved, at the same time. We know that we have 5 senses, but we actually have 6! ALL of us have the ability to live intuitively, into that 6th sense, but it has largely been lost or outmoded. I believe that the world needs us more than ever. WE need US - the dreamers, the healers, the empaths. We need to call everyone back, back into their bodies, their relationships with self and others, and back to this world that we inhabit. I belong to you. We are connected, inextricably connected to the ebb and flow of life." Amy's body wisdom and connection to nature's medicinal gifts makes for a wonderful Spiritual Charlotte podcast!www.spiritualcharlotte.com
We are connected, inextricably connected to the ebb and flow of life." Terrorthaw has made a career out of creating inventive ways to show that the King's rule of Europe is flawed. Until now he's never quite had a chance to so completely undo it, but since discovering the location of a working time machine he knows he has to move quickly. Can he dismantle his evil empire, gather the right equipment and assemble a competent crew before the King finds out what he's up to? And how do you dispose of a room full of henchmen without a whole automated death wheel stadium arena? -- Written and edited by Tom McNally -- PERFORMED BY: Amy Sutton, Joshua Crisp, Tom McNally and Ben Edwards. The King has broken the most important, fundamental rule in European Law and is not fit to be a King or even a man any more. But what is a man? And a woman - you've heard of those. How is a woman involved in what a man is? Can a woman get a man out of a bad feeling when he is feeling bad? The King won't grapple these tough questions alone in the rainforest canopy - everybody's favourite crime-solving gorilla is on his tail and no question is too tough for him. -- Written and edited by Tom McNally -- PERFORMED BY: Amy Sutton, Joshua Crisp, Tom McNally and Ben Edwards. The King has been missing for a long time. All of his friends who are not time-travellers are worried sick. His friends who are time-travellers, however, have more pressing mysteries on their mind - what is the best way to keep the wild gods of the Arctic from knocking down his rad castle? What really went down at the Sack of Rome, which is hands-down the coolest part of history? And why is Ba'al Hadad, god of thunder and fertility, such a useless layabout? But don't worry friends, there's a Magic Telephone on the hall table and everything will be all right when he calls back. -- Written and edited by Tom McNally -- Performed by Amy Sutton, Joshua Crisp, Tom McNally and Ben Edwards with special guest star Peter Markiner.
