It's the penultimate episode of Gundam Build Fighters, and things are going off the rails. Mind control! Exploding paint. Arm Fall Off Boy references! But is the episode actually any good? Only the mask on Yuuki's new Setsuna cosplay holds the secrets.
It's finally here! After many trials and tribulations, the boys have finally managed to bring you a lovingly crafted episode about two nobodies. We know you'll love it!
Spiderman or Squirrel Girl, Batman or Arm Fall Off Boy. This week on the podcast we ask the truly difficult questions.
This week, Nadia and Steve talk to podcast host Daniel Acker (@MrDrAcker) about the specific topic of superhero powers, and even more specifically, the types of supernatural abilities that Daniel himself has thought about nearly every day of his life. What's better, flying or super strength? What's an "evil" superpower, and how do wield responsibility with our powers? What about "real" powers (medically explained) or weirdo powers, like Dazzler or Arm-Fall-Off-Boy?! Let's do this again some time!
This week somebody actually asked as we took a topic requested by a listener. We are donning our capes and figuring out our origin story as we talk through the most pointless super powers in movies and TV which are still quite cool, because for every Superman there's an Arm-Fall-Off Boy. Expect questionable dolphin science, matter eating and the Teenage Anthropomorphic Ninja Turtles.
For this week’s episode of Geekorama, we’re talking about the trailers that were just released through the DC Fandome virtual event. What looks amazing, what we’re excited about, and what we’re probably going to pass on. Pop-Culture Trivia - The Suicide SquadSome serious Z listers in this sequel, here’s some info on a few:TDK-Otherwise known as The Detachable Kid or Arm-Fall-Off-Boy. The character first appeared in Secret Origins Vol 2 #46 in 1989. He was originally from the future and has never canonically been a member of The Squad. In the movie, he’s played by Nathan Fillion.Polka Dot Man- First crossed paths with Batman in 1962’s Detective Comics #300. He uses detachable polka dots as weapons, some that transform into different objects. He is played by David Dastmalchian in the movie.Ratcatcher 2- Detective Comics #585 introduced the Ratcatcher, the original villain was a ratcatcher who had knowledge of the sewer tunnel system in Gotham and could talk to and train, you guessed it, rats which he used to restrain, and torture victims and to smuggle goods. The film introduces us to a gender swapped version of the character who appears to be a legacy since she’s the second one. She’s played by Portuguese film actress Daniela Melchior GEEK OUTSTrish -Lucifer Season Five, Part One. OMG, I binged it in one day and am having some withdrawals. We got some GREAT fan service, Tom Ellis is an acting genius as he portrays not just Lucifer but his twin brother Michael and fans finally got the moment we’ve been waiting five seasons for!Jeremy - Been going on a vampire rampage lately. Burned through the five Underworld movies (and soon onto Blade.) Underworld 1 is a classic and just an all around good action film. The rest start getting more and more convoluted as they attempt to expand the storyline and shoe-horn in some romance. Thankfully Kate Beckingsdale returns for the final two (three is worth skipping!) Deep Dive - The DC Fandome Trailers!WW84-Absolutely will see, this trailer made me want it even more if that’s possible. I’ll be there opening weekend. The Batman-I’ll catch it on Amazon, at this point, seen the previous dozen Batman films, you’ve seen them all.Suicide Squad-I am optimistic with James Gunn at the helm and the team of Z listers he’s assembled that this could be what the first Squad movie should’ve been. And Elba, Capaldi, and Fillion don’t hurt either.Gotham Knights-Now THIS is the Batman movie I wish we were getting, why? Because Batman is dead, hear me out. I would love a spin on the Batman mythos that shows us what Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood would have to do in the wake of Batman’s murder to protect Gotham and navigate the murky waters of his legacy. If they make this for the Switch I will play the crap out of this game! The Snyder Cut- Do I have to say it? Hard pass. If you need four hours to tell a Justice League movie, you don’t know what the hell you’re doing. And I’ll admit that the toxicity of the fans who clamored for this makes me want to avoid it even more.Black Adam- Um...ok? What am I looking at here?Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League-Meh, looks ok story-wise. Not enticed to play.QotW: What trailers from the DC Fandome got you excited? Will, Mango and Gabe are stuck inside this week, and decide to hop on the phone to chat comics... specifically, some of the worst comic creations in all of history. Want to know what killed Captain Tootsie? Or why Arm-Fall-Off-Boy was rejected from super hero glory twice? Plus, we discuss why you should never, ever try to crash an X-Men birthday party disguised as a food product. (There's a good reason.) Martin Scorsese’s comments would have been old news by the time the ToB Crew got around to recording the latest episode of the podcast, fortunately he decided to double down on those comments, making it a whole new story! Julian, Dan, and Jeremy try to dissect Scorsese’s thought process and try to put all the fallout into context. They also discuss the set photo leaks from Suicide Squad that reveal a crazy cast of characters, Damon Lindleoff suggesting that HBO’s Watchmen may only be one season, and the latest Picard trailer. All that, and much more, on this week’s Tower of Babble Podcast!
In this episode, the Goods from the Woods Boys (Rivers, Sam, and Carter) are joined by comedian, artist, and the co-host of one of our absolute favorite podcasts Nerd G.O.A.T., Ed Greer! This is an episode all about comic book heroes and specifically the worst ones of all time. We go down the list of preposterous characters such as "Arm-Fall-Off Boy", "Matter Eater Lad", and Superman's super pet monkey "Beppo". We also talk about what kind of people rock which kinds of superhero logos. This is a completely ridiculous episode and we can't wait for you to hear it. Follow Ed on Twitter @EdGreerDestroys. Rick and Dafs attempt to throw a bone to the failures of the WWPI by sending them through the Troll Scale. Almighty Dollar, Codpiece, Arm Fall Off Boy, Matter Eater Lad and Jackie Chan all get a second chance to redeem their terrible failures. Plus, Rick updates Dafs obituary.
He can remove his own limbs and use them as blunt objects for weapons. How did he gain his powers? Carelessness with an anti-gravity device. Figures.
This week we've GOTTA talk Justice League (noticing a pattern?) & Gideon Falls. Also discussed: Mission: Impossible &... Arm-Fall-Off Boy?
Ding Ding! June is Fan Month (aka FANAGAR) and we’re kicking it off with a simple theme: Who Would Win?
