Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #607 is an hour of fresh, inventive visionary acoustic improvised music played by the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, acoustic guitar, harmonica, ukulele and mandolin, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts at the beginning of February 2025, today's show begins with the upbeat, vintage folk of “Around The Bend”, a pretty, whimsical song with a fine vocal and chiming ukulele from Mariam. “In The Grand Splendor Of Creation” is a pretty piece build on a pretty, bittersweet chord scheme and featuring a touching, rich and emotional vocal from Mariam over a pretty instrumental bed of ukulele, piano and congas and “May We All Hear Our Spirit Singing Out” is a rich, classically-leaning musical piece framing a gorgeous vocal and Native flute conversation from Mariam above Craig's thrumming Native drum heartbeat. The Gaea Star Band goes hard blues on the swaggering “Feel The Wind” with a fine vocal and visceral harmonica from Mariam and fat-fingered Chicago-flavored piano from Bob. “Step On The Button” is a lush, circular slice of minimalism with a ‘60s feel and a joyful, playful vocal from Mariam and “Change The World” weaves funk, Native American music, fusion, blues and visionary poetry into a rich, propulsive epic polished with another fine vocal from Mariam. “If You Know What Was In Your Heart” is an achingly pretty ballad with a haunting ‘50s feel and we complete today's show with the airy, prayerful “Do You Remember You're From The Starts Above?”, a gorgeous, love-filled island folk song driven along by Mariam's relaxed ukulele. It's been a rare occurance throughout Pearl Jam's history to see them as the opening act on a tour. They toured in support of Neil Young in the early 90's, and famously for a set of shows for the Rolling Stones in 1997, but for six shows in 2006, Pearl Jam appeared as the opening act for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Pretty good company to cede the headline to, right? This episode covers the second night of Milwaukee's Summerfest from that run. A majority of this episode is dedicated to talking about what Tom Petty means to not only us personally, but music and pop culture as a whole. We'll share stories of our favorite memories getting acquainted with his music, and what he meant to the band as an influence. For a 17-song set, this could have been seen as a typical festival set, but they took advantage of the opportunity and cranked out some special moments. Last Kiss was played as the opener at this show, an occasion that's only happened two other times, we get rarities such as Sad and Around The Bend and Smile with a little dedication to how the story of the song came to be. We'll also discuss the performances of The Waiting and American Girl from the Heartbreakers set that Eddie got to help out with, and the Javier segment is a little bit different this week, so stay tuned for what's in store! More on dividend growth investing -> Join our market newsletter! To most investors, big returns are associated with exciting stories or cutting-edge technology. Since everyone is in the market to make as much money as possible, “boring” companies can be easily dismissed without much second thought. That line of thinking is straightforward enough but it may be misguided. Truthfully, some of the better-performing companies out there are actually pretty boring. When it comes to achieving attractive returns, it is not what a company does that is important, it is how well they do it. In this episode, Greg embarks on a deep dive into Union Pacific Railroad ($UNP) and the broader railroad industry. He makes the case that railroads are extremely predictable, well run, and have provided investors with decades of market-beating returns. Railroads are probably not your first idea for building wealth, but these companies are cashflow-compounding machines. This episode is a little bit deeper than we have gone in the past, but it makes for a compelling story. **NEW** If you submit a question to us and we use it in an episode, we will send you an official The Dividend Mailbox Yeti® Tumbler -> Email us at ethan@growmydollar.com.Visit our website to learn more about our investment strategy and wealth management services.Follow us on:Instagram - Facebook - LinkedIn - TwitterIf you enjoy the show, we'd greatly appreciate it if you subscribe and leave a review

It's the Summer of Love...Tractor, that is. That's because our friends in seminal Athens band Love Tractor return to O3L for an epic two parter as we discuss our Top 5 Summer Albums! It's time for the epic conclusion, where Love Tractor guitarists Mark Cline & Mike Richmond and bassist Armistead Wellford recount more wild, hilarious tales of the Athens scene in the '80s and the making of their second album, 1983's Around The Bend. We'll also divulge our #2 & #1 Summer Albums. If you didn't get enough sex, drugs & rock n' roll (or country rock, if a certain record label had their druthers) during part 1...well, you're in luck. Party at Little Richard's house! About Love Tractor: It is no act of misguided hyperbole to declare the genre-bending, art rock pioneers, Love Tractor one of the most influential bands of the past 43 years. As one of the inadvertent architects of the Athens, Georgia scene and sound, Love Tractor along with Pylon, The B-52's, and R.E.M. were essential in staking out the jangly and disco-driven rock that would have — and still has—a huge influence on subsequent generations. Of those bands, Love Tractor always stood out as the most artistically brave and willing to fail in order to succeed. In 1983, Love Tractor released their second album, Around the Bend, which was accompanied by a popular MTV video for the song "Spin Your Partner." The album showcased the band's growth and evolution, incorporating vocals and other experimentations to enhance their sound. The record was well-received critically and commercially— topping the college charts, and solidifying Love Tractor's place in the alternative music landscape. Around The Bend (40th Anniversary Remastered Edition) is due out September 1, 2023, on Propeller Sound Recordings. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Let's begin our Yield tour celebration by going back and covering the 25th anniversary of their two night stint in Maui. A destination show for Pearl Jam in a 5,000 person venue to kick off a strong slate of shows for 1998. Hawaii is a place that would gain importance over time as it became a second home for Eddie, and his friendship connections would later lead to him and Boom Gaspar meeting. This time period would also become known as the beginning of the end for Jack Irons as he would leave the band following the ensuing Australian tour leg. As we've discussed in the past three episodes, we'll once again have the chance to talk about some of the earliest performances of Yield album tracks. Songs like Given To Fly, Faithfull and MFC provided a punch and make an impact, while a song like Wishlist is still finding its way. This show features 21 songs in a shortened 90 minute set thanks to an early curfew, but the band leans heavily on No Code and the new songs while Vs. and Ten tracks are fairly limited. We'll discuss the fourth of fourteen performances of Around The Bend during this episode! If you like surprises, I think you'll be satisfied once the episode gets to about the 50 minute mark! No spoilers, but you'll enjoy this! Also, we'll have our Gear Guru Javier back to discuss Stone's wah wah pedal on Do The Evolution, and we'll answer the question of the week - what is your dream destination vacation spot that you'd like to see the band do a residency in? We don't know what's around the bend, but we're heading there through 2023. This episode plays Dylan songs & those of fellow travelers dealing with what's around the bend. In "20 Pounds of Headlines," we round up news from the world of Bob Dylan, which includes news about a new Dylan art book, a reminder about the forthcoming Bootleg Series, Dylan's ranking on ROLLING STONE'S new "200 Greatest Singers" list (a revision of its 2008 "100 Greatest Singers" list), and speculation about a 4k restoration of a film with Dylan in it that may be released in 2023. In "Who Did It Better?" we ask you to tell us who did "Death is Not the End" better: The Waterboys or Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds? Be sure to go to our Twitter page @RainTrains to vote!

Love is the Message series 4 continues apace. In this episode Jeremy and TIm continue to examine the dynamic environment of New York City around the 1975 Fiscal Crisis, contrasting pessimistic and optimistic accounts of the time: was the Big Apple a depressed town cut off from the rest of the country, or a city enjoying its own cultural renaissance? Or both? We hear about the early emergence of Neoliberalism, the cybernetic revolution, and the affect and aesthetics of Heroin. Tim and Jeremy introduce some early electronic music outfits, spend time on the singular sound of Suicide, discuss artistic representations of alienation, and introduce us to the downtown 'Loft Jazz' scene. Welcome to the Chicago Beer Pass: Your ticket to all the great beer events happening in and around Chicago. On this episode of Chicago Beer Pass, Brad Chmielewski and Nik White have their first in studio guest on the podcast in a long time. The guys are joined by Dan Schedler from Around The Bend Beer Co. Dan is the founder and was a guest on the podcast years ago, but a lot has changed since then… and a lot has changed since District Brew Yards opened on Ashland Ave. Dan brought with him some of the latest beers in their new series and explains how they are achieving these flavors. We also get a little insight into what’s happening at District Brew Yards as well as news of it being the official after party for Beer Under Glass.Having issues listening to the audio? Welcome to the Chicago Beer Pass: Your ticket to all the great beer events happening in and around Chicago. On this episode of Chicago Beer Pass, Brad Chmielewski and Nik White open cans of Dreamweaver from Around The Bend Beer Co. Around The Bend is located inside District Brew Yards and Brad made a stop in this past week to pick up this Vienna Lager and chat with Dan Schedler, the Founder/Brewer of ATB. As the guys crush this Lager they chat about their adventures this past week which included trips to Whiner, Pilot Project, Goldfinger, and Afterthought. Nik was out at Goldfinger for their Dark Lager day festival and although it felt strange to be at a beer fest again it was a nice welcoming feeling. Hopefully as the warm weather starts to kick-in, we start seeing more and more events around the city.Having issues listening to the audio? We spent last Saturday with Rett talking about Frank and Dweezil Zappa, MTS Management, Weird Al and north Florida legends Lyndard Skynard and Tom Petty. His upcoming album is "Around The Bend", quite literally, and we took a pretty deep dive behind the whiskey-soaked concepts driving songs like "New Year's Day", "Sleep it Off" and "Dead and Buried". The album drops this spring, but here you are privy to three full tracks from this smorgasboard of singer-song writer delights a full two to three months before the online launch party! On top of all this, it got real surreal for a minute just after the traditional ad break. Rett came to play in the chat lab, complete with Peter Parker and Clark Kent references. Oh, and Regan has graduated to Waffles! Note: This is our first episode with our new, original intro music by our good friends David T. and Mojo 3! Space Battles goes fully around the bend in the conclusion to our two-part special. Dave assembles the horde. Karen has no pants, no shoes, but many problems. Tiger leads a guerilla army. Michelle is a supportive girlfriend. It's the one where Kevin calls it months in advance.
Space Battles goes to camp! We take a trip back in time in this special bonus ep, to the nightmares of the Reagan era: feathered mullets, denim hotpants, and lovelorn white teenagers sitting around a lake. Michelle tests her riding skill. Dave does some nighttime archery. Karen takes a nighttime walk. Tiger acquires some nighttime critters. It's the one before going around the bend.
