Today you'll hear a conversation I had with Atiya-AKA Intuitive Jawn. We talk about spiritual hygiene, worthiness when it comes to manifesting, tips for working with your spirit guides and more! Intuitive Jawn aka Atiya your favorite neighborhood seer, is a holistic practitioner & psychic intuitive who uses her gift as a seer to help counsel people with psychic confirmation and knowledge from overcoming her own life experiences. Also known as Atiya Christina, Intuitive Jawn is an Usui Reiki Master Practitioner, and second-year Herbal Apprentice. Just this past December, she left her eighth year of teaching high school science to pursue her passion of using multiple modalities to heal the collective & uplift it's consciousness full time. Through Spirit, reiki, and plant medicine, Atiya has become more deeply connected to her own reality and life's journey, at the direction of her guides who continue to influence her open-ended but clear path towards healing generational trauma & self-discovery. As she has continued to integrate the practices of reiki & plant medicine in her daily life, it has felt like a return home, as the use of these practices continues to deeply activate her intuition and allow her to use her soul and past life gifts. She realised she wasn't living into my true potential. This happens to all of us!Atiya was so passionate about the skills she had developed she trained and became certified to deliver NLP trainings. She added to her skills through becoming trained in visual and virtual strategy and facilitation. What are income taxes? The tax that's imposed against the earned money that you make. How are income taxes calculated? Income taxes are calculated by adding together all sources of income (W-2 Wages, Rental Income, Wages you pay yourself you're your business…etc.) and then applying or subtracting all deductions against all earned income. How do you reduce your taxable income? You can reduce your taxable income through deductions or credits. Deductions are amounts that you can reduce your taxable income by to reduce your overall tax liability (i.e. the total amount you owe to the government in taxes). You can either apply the standardized deduction or the itemized deduction Standard deduction is $12,950 applied to all individual taxpayers who have less than $12,950 in itemized deductions Itemized Deductions are individual deductions that can be applied against earned income and can include the following types of deductions Property taxes State taxes Mortgage Interest Charitable Donations Medical Expenses (up to a certain percentage) Marginalized Deductions serve to reduce your earned income to decrease your overall tax liability. Are you tired of giving away your hard-earned money to Uncle Sam? Are you tired of tax professionals telling you to “start an LLC” to save on taxes? Are you in search of some tax savings advice that's applicable for your station in life? Me too! Starting a business, having children and/or getting married aren't the ONLY ways to leverage the tax code for your benefit.   We just need a seasoned tax professional to give us the blueprint on how to save on our taxes as single, childless, business-less renters. I know, I know sounds like a tall order but that's exactly what we are going to discuss in this week's episode, Making Money Moves Part I: Income Tax Strategies for Regular People featuring tax strategist, CPA and owner of The Savvy Accountant, Ms. Atiya Brown.     Atiya, aka The Savvy Accountant, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA),  a Certified Financial Education Instructor and owner of The Savvy Accountant. Taxes are the revenue that the government collects in order to fund public goods and services like government operations, public schools and city infrastructure.   What are income taxes? The tax that's imposed against the earned money that you make.   How are income taxes calculated? Income taxes are calculated by adding together all sources of income (W-2 Wages, Rental Income, Wages you pay yourself from your business…etc.) and then applying or subtracting all deductions against all earned income.   How do you reduce your taxable income? You can reduce your taxable income through deductions or credits. Deductions are amounts that you can reduce your taxable income by to reduce your overall tax liability (i.e. the total amount you owe to the government in taxes). You can either apply the standardized deduction or the itemized deduction Standard deduction is $12,950 applied to all individual taxpayers who have less than $12,950 in itemized deduction Itemized Deductions are individual deductions that can be applied against earned income and can include the following types of deductions Property taxes ◦ State taxes ◦ Mortgage Interest Charitable Donations ◦ Medical Expenses (up to a certain percentage) Marginalized Deductions serve to reduce your earned income to decrease your overall tax liability. For example, if you earn $100 in income for the year and have $80 in itemized deductions, your taxable income will become $20. If your applicable tax rate is ten percent (10%), you multiply the ten percent by your taxable income of $20 to get your tax liability which will be $2 Tax Credits serve as another tool to reduce your tax liability by reducing your net tax liability directly, dollar for dollar. For example, if your net tax liability is $2 as in the example above, and you have a $1 tax credit, your new tax liability will be $1. Welcome to episode three of Teen People. My name is Anna Soper, and I am a British-Canadian artist, writer, and librarian in Canada. Today I give you Atiya Jones: funny, outgoing, fashionista. Girl-about-town—until Covid hit—in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Atiya was but a girl in Brooklyn when she worked for Teen People as a Trendspotter—part of a focus group made up of Teen People’s own readers. She appeared in three issues of Teen People, including the one I have, where she was set up on a blind date. (Awkward!) When I contacted her about my podcast she replied, "An interview about one of the greatest periods in my life? Absolutely!" Atiya is a force of nature with a belly-deep laugh and unshakable self-confidence. Find her online at www.atiyajones.com. Films like Mean Girls often portray homeschooled children as extremely socially awkward, highly intelligent, yet very strange. Atiya, however, spent her entire life trying to change that narrative. In fact, by the age of four, she had already opened her first business. Thanks to a beautician gluing a weave to her scalp; at the age of eighteen, Love Atiya lost a patch of her hair in the front of her head, as well as her confidence. On the show today we are getting tips from the Financially Savvy Accountant, Atiya Brown. With her is an extra special guest, her daughter Rayna.  Rayna is one Financially Savvy Kid!  She has absorbed all the money talks her parents have had with her and put them into a book to teach other children about savvy money habits.  Her book is called What Are the Money Rules.   ATIYA'S MONEY STORY Atiya did not grow up with much money.  She was the oldest of five children and after her father past away when she was young.  She watched her mom struggle to support her family.  Through a few experiences - Atiya began to have an awakening about how she was handling her money.  This became more apparent when she discovered that she and her husband were not on the same page about finances when they decided to buy a home.  She learned that unlike her husband, she had credit card debt.  She decided to make a change and paid off her credit card debt.   RAISING FINANCIALLY SAVVY KIDS Atiya decided she wanted things to be different for her children.  She and her husband decided to begin teaching her children all about money.  It began with having open conversations with them from when they were little.  From there, they also gave the children money jars to split all their money into four categories, save, spend, give and invest.  This knowledge laid the foundation for Rayna to write her book. Rayna decided to write a book to help her little brother learn all about the money rules.  She loved to play "school" with him and figured a book would be a good way to help him learn. Rayna has been sharing her book with other children who are so excited to read a book written by someone their age.   ATIYA ON THE FINAL QUESTIONS Her money lesson learned growing up:  To talk openly with your children about money.  Her favorite reads:  She has two.   Rich Dad Poor Dad  The Biblical Principles of Finance  Her Favorite Life Hack:  Ordering groceries online.  Wendy totally agrees with this one.  It's a great time and money saver!
