I'd venture to say that all successful coaches have a lead magnet ingrained in their business. Lead magnets come in many different forms but they ultimately are giving something of value away for free in exchange for contact information. This has been a staple business practice since day 1. But what if I told you there's a much better way? A way that allows you to get super qualified buyer leads who are much more likely to join your signature program. This is what I want to share with you on today's episode with my guest Allie Bjerk.  Allie is a leader in the industry on helping coaches fill their list with buyer leads, not just freebie leads, through the use of Tiny Offer™! Fast-forward to twenty years from now. Imagine you have the chance to go back in time to RIGHT NOW.What would you come back to do over? Would you focus your time on rushing your kids to school so you can build your business? Or would you take a moment and appreciate them at this age right now? It's one of the questions our guest Allie Bjerk proposes in today's episode.Allie is an expert on passive income and has built a multiple 7-figure business – all while being a mother of three and maintaining “white space” for time with family. So many people think you need a huge sum of money before passive income investments kick back, but Allie is proof it can start with one small thing at a time.Allie and I talk in-depth about balancing the motherload with a successful business, which at times, means being BRUTAL about how we spend our time in terms of return on investment – and remembering what's ACTUALLY most precious at this moment. In this episode you'll hear about:How Allie's business started with social media/ads/website design, and how launching a $27 product changed everything, eventually generating $1 millionHow we spend our time in terms of R.O.I. and M.V.P. (minimal viable product) – what's the least amount of work that needs to be done for something to sell?Making the decision to NOT do things that take up too much time and don't generate a lot of revenueThe importance of a morning ritual for Allie, which involves journaling and exerciseBeing intentional about the time she spends with her kids; Allie was never at a point where she wasn't seeing her kids at all and working 80-hour weeksHow Allie constantly reevaluates the structure of her days and her business to have the flexibility and “white space” to live the life she wantsResources & LinksBe sure to check out Allie's podcast, The Decision Maker Show. Hello my fabulous She Did It Her Way listeners! In this week’s podcast episde I have the absolute pleasure of interviewing online mogul, Allie Bjerk. When Allie first launched her business there were definitely a lot of ups and downs, getting to where she is today. As of right now, her business is generating about $3 million a year in digital products and coaching programs.  Allie’s Journey:Allie went to school for graphic design and marketing and while she initially started as a service provider, it took seven years to hit six figures. But when she was not in school, she was out socializing. She was studying people and would be the one like having conversations just to see what people would say and feeding off of that energy. After graduation, the recession hit. She took a job selling cell phones in northern Minnesota and eventually married her husband whom she had dated through college. She finally landed her (then) dream job working at an agency doing SEO, which she discovered to be not a very fun topic. After suffering through nearly 3 years of corporate drama she had her first child and realized that the agency was charging the clients $95 an hour and only paying her $17 per hour. She knew there was something to be done on her own. A few months later her strong-willed son was kicked out of daycare and she was expecting baby #2. She knew this was the time to leap and make it work. For Allie, having her back against the wall propels her into action. Within two months she had more than replaced her corporate income. She spent time getting her feet wet and networking and she finally found her community.Allie worked with clients offering various online business services, mostly social media and helping online business owners with their launches. At one point, one of Allie’s clients made a charge-back to her credit card (yikes!). After receiving a notification that $6,000 was going to be debited from her account Allie had to make a massive pivot, quickly. Through quick thinking, Allie realized that she needed to convert her cold traffic into buyers, with a low price point. She knew how to run ads and build funnels and combined those to create her original Tiny Offer - a live stream calendar. It was 365 ideas of live streams people could offer their audience. She made her money back quickly and kept reinvesting what she was making into more and more ads. Along the way Allie dealt with imposter syndrome feeling that she was not worthy of making this passive income, or growing and scaling her business. It became a very emotional and mental journey, as well as a professional one. She realized she was going to screw up. It was part of the process. Ad’s would be rejected, she would get nervous, not everyone would love the program...all things that were just part of the process. Allie has taken her natural talent of learning and really listening to what people want and giving them exactly what they are asking for. She has learned what gets their brains ticking, all about the dopamine rush and why buying products creates serotonin in our brains.  Allie’s Relationship With MoneyAllie decided she needed to give her money a job. She created a spreadsheet and spent time being intentional and deciding what she wanted to use the money for. She broke it down into sections: how long until she wanted to achieve this/ make this purchasehow many people did she need to join her 6k programhow many people need to purchase her Tiny OfferAllie has now turned her relationship with money into a positive one where she finds fulfillment and gratitude with each purchase someone makes. It helps her to stay focused and realize that it is more about the overall picture, not just about the money she is bringing in. If you want to learn more about Allie, head on over to her website or connect with her on Instagram (@alliebjerk). As always, until next time, keep doing it your way. Insights:“She was studying people and would be the one like having conversations just to see what people would say and feeding off of that energy.”“She knew this was the time to leap and make it work.”“She realized she was going to screw up. It was part of the process. Many of us are battling with this situation: We invest precious time in creating and advertising our freebie, only to end up having an email list full of freebie hunters instead of future buyers.  But if not a freebie, what else will attract the right people to our email list?  Allie Bjerk has figured it out. Feeling miserable about her corporate job after her son was born, she came up with an escape plan: Become an entrepreneur and help her own clients manage social media.  At first she was amazed at how easy it was. Her client rooster was full, and she constantly updated her knowledge on Facebook ads and sales funnels to offer the best service she could. But her workload was unpredictable. She was living client to client, and when a payment didn't come through, she found herself with her back against the wall: She either had to launch her own product, or close her business.  She didn't have the email list size or the audience to sell a high ticket offer, so she came up with a new strategy and created a tiny offer instead, hoping to gain visibility and grow her business.  Over the course of the next eight months, she made $300K.  In this episode, Allie shares the strategy behind the tiny offer, how you can gain visibility by applying it and what you need to consider when putting your own tiny offer out there.   If you're tired of putting freebies out there that attract the wrong audience, this is just what you need.  “People are starting to lead with a tiny product instead of a freebie because it attracts a different audience who's ready to actually do the work.” - Allie Bjerk Are you more of a reader? Scroll down to read about how you can create your own tiny offer!    In this Episode of The Sigrun Show: How Allie's priority shifted rapidly when her son was born (2:57) What led Allie to come up with her tiny offer idea (6:25) How long it took Allie to create her first tiny offer (10:27) The profit Allie makes with her tiny offers (12:25) Figuring out the pain points of your clients and creating multiple offers (13:40) How Allie ended up creating a coaching program (16:39) Allie's vision (19:08) How you can create your own tiny offer (20:45) The system Allie uses (24:11) How the tiny offer trend will develop (27:15)   Want to learn about other strategies besides the tiny offer that help build your list? Find out how Jadah Sellner attracted 1M  Email subscribers with a 30 day challenge.   How to Create Your Tiny Offer Even though Allie is making profit with her tiny offer, it's really about attracting the right clients and building your email list.  Much like with a freebie, people get a taste of your teaching style, but by paying a small price for it, the offer becomes more intimate and you attract people who are invested and actually want to do the work, instead of freebie-hunters who will never turn into buyers.  Here's what you need to think about when putting your tiny offer out there:   Define your ultimate goal If you could have any dream business, what would it be? Is it a coaching program, a course? Clarity on your end goal is key in understanding what your tiny offer needs to be about.  Understand who to target Work your way backwards to understand which people you need to attract to create the business you want. What are their pain points? How can you solve their problem? Build a product around it that provides a quick fix.  Once you've solved their problem and they've gone with you through this journey, connect with them on an emotional level. On her junior album Homogenic, Björk (pronounced “Bjerk”) dumped the playful genre-bending of her earlier albums for a consistent palette of strings and volcano-like, almost proto-dubstep beats, and the result is almost universally considered the pièce de résistance of her career. But even more than that, the album is a mature, unique expression of Björk's inner life, at a time when the press often treated her as more a quirky headline in a swan dress and less a human being. Well, Discord & Rhyme will have none of that! Returning guest Shivam Bhatt has a limitless ability to gush over Björk, and he joins Rich, John, and Mike for an episode best described as “groveling at the feet of a deity.” There are so many things we love about Björk, from her truly outside the box lyricism to her absolutely otherworldly voice, and we hope this episode conveys the unpredictable joy of getting to know her music.Cohosts: Rich Bunnell, John McFerrin, Mike DeFabio, Shivam BhattComplete show notes: https://discordpod.com/listen/bjrk-homogenic-1997Discord & Rhyme's merch store: http://tee.pub/lic/discordpodSupport the podcast! https://www.patreon.com/discordpod

Paul Bjerk’s compact biography Julius Nyerere, published as part of the Ohio Short Histories of Africa series follows closely on the heels of his monograph on the same subject – Building a Peaceful Nation: Julius Nyerere and the Establishment of Sovereignty in Tanzania, 1960-1964 – published in 2015 by the University of Rochester Press, about which Bjerk was interviewed on the New Books in African Studies podcast. Similar to the monograph, in this short work, Bjerk foregrounds Nyere’s political biography – the founding of the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU); his leadership of an independent Tanzania; and his eventual consecration as an icon of postcolonial Africa. Additionally however, considerable time is spent on Nyerere’s personal arc from intellectually gifted rural youth, to principled if flawed leader of an independent nation, to, having foregone many of the trappings of political office, elder statesman living the end of his life much as he began it. The podcast conversation delves deeply into these intersections of the personal and political and provides a way into this eminently readable sketch of Nyerere’s life. Although Nyerere’s biography is not the focus of this book (during the interview Bjerk nonetheless tantalizingly alludes to a biographical project currently in the works), Nyerere’s formative exposure to British Utilitarianism, and the thought of John Stuart Mill in particular, is unquestionably fundamental to his vision of postcolonial statehood, including his unwavering belief in the one-party state. The central contention of Building a Peaceful Nation is that meaning-making is at the core of political activity, and that without understanding how meanings are produced through discourse, Tanzania’s continental exceptionalism is difficult, if not impossible, to understand. The book, and the interview, explore in depth the development (and pitfalls) of a discursive strategy designed to work at both the grassroots and cosmopolitan levels, produce a sustainable democratic system, and “minimize conflict during the transition to independence”, all within a highly complex geopolitical context.
