The White Guardian recruits the Fourth Doctor to collect the six hidden and disguised segments of the powerful Key to Time. He assigns him an assistant Time Lady named Romanadvoratrelundar, whom the Doctor calls Romana. He warns him that the Black Guardian also seeks these segments, but for an evil purpose. The White Guardian provides them with a wand-like device, which can locate the pieces and remove their disguise. When inserted into the TARDIS console, the locator first reveals a segment to be on Cyrrenhis Minima, but then moves to Ribos. Ribos is an icy planet with late-medieval-type inhabitants who are unaware of alien cultures. A human from Earth named Garron tries to sell Ribos to an exiled tyrant called the Graff Vynda-K. The Graff is impressed by the planet's supposed quantity of jethrik, the rarest and most valued mineral in the galaxy. He believes the opportunity confirmed when he sees a piece of jethrik among the Ribos crown jewels. This is all part of a ruse orchestrated by Garron; the jethrik was planted by Garron's assistant Unstoffe, who also was playing a native with an "honest face" who spins a yarn to the Graff about a nearby lost mine. The locator points the Doctor and Romana to the same jethrik, which must be the disguised segment of the Key to Time. The Graff Vynda-K provides a large sum of money as a deposit for the planet that is to be kept safely in the room with the crown jewels, watched by Ribos guards by day and a shrivenzale beast by night. Later, Unstoffe distracts the shrivenzale, recovers their piece of jethrik, and takes the money from the safe. The Graff learns of Garron's deception when he discovers a covert listening device in his room. He imprisons Garron with his "accomplices", the Doctor and Romana, and starts the search for Unstoffe, who still has the money and the jethrik. Unstoffe hides with Binro, a homeless outcast who believes that Ribos is a planet orbiting a star, and that there are other stars in the universe, which Unstoffe confirms to be true (because he was from Earth). The Ribos guards summon a Seeker who locates Unstoffe's hideout. Using the listening device in the Graff's room, Garron warns Unstoffe about the Graff. Binro, thankful for Unstoffe's encouragement, leads him to the labyrinthine Catacombs under the city, where the natives bury their dead. The Graff and his men enter the Catacombs without the guards, who fear the place, and the Seeker warns that if they enter, "All but one are doomed to die." K9 helps the Doctor, Romana, and Garron escape and go to the Catacombs. The guards destroy the entrance to the Catacombs causing the ceiling to collapse on the Graff's men. Having recovered the money and the jethrik, the Graff gives his last surviving guard an explosive to kill himself with. The guard, actually the Doctor in disguise, swaps the explosive for the jethrik. The Graff walks off into the maze yelling like a madman as the sounds of one of his previous battles resound around him, before exploding. After leaving the Catacombs, the Doctor, Romana, and K9 dematerialise in the TARDIS. Garron and Unstoffe claim the Graff's deserted ship, full of years of plunder, while the Doctor and Romana transform the jethrik into the first piece of the Key to Time.

The Black Guardian trilogy continues, well not much actually happens there as Turlough is trapped for most of it. It's time for Nyssa to take the limelight (and her skirt off) as we see her decide to stay and help cure lazars...
Winner take all! It's time for Enlightenment, the final story of the "Guardian Trilogy" from the Peter Davison era, and it's a heck of a story! Co-hosts Ken and Mike have plenty to discuss in this episode, including the creepiness of Eternals Striker and Marriner, the fact that companions Tegan and Turlough are actually given stuff to do (!), and, well, if the Black Guardian really wanted the Doctor dead ... why didn't he get Abslom Daak? Or John Wick? They also talk about the Guardians in this story and in the Trilogy writ large, and their (lack of) impact in them. So much stuff to talk about, so pull up an Edwardian deck chair and have a listen!
Materialising on an Edwardian sailing boat in space, the Doctor and his companions Tegan and Turlough find themselves caught up in a mysterious race which the prize for winning is Enlightenment - the wisdom to find your heart's desire And when the Black Guardian continues to pressure Turlough to complete his side of their murderous pact, it seems that the Doctor may not survive to cross the finish line... this is enlightenment welcome to regenerated why not take a look at our social media and give us a review on Apple Podcasts merchandise -https://teespring.com/en-GB/stores/regenerated facebook - www.facebook.com/regenerateddoctorwhopodcast/ twitter - twitter.com/Regenerated1963

It's the final part of the Black Guardian trilogy and this time it's all about the race! But we're not on Earth, we're on a ship, a *space* ship. Who will receive…Enlightenment?
An old friend and an old foe return in this episode, as both the Brigadier and the Black Guardian reappear. Plus there's a mutated alien and a schoolboy trying to kill the Doctor. It's all happening!

In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... The News Well, it's not really the news, this is Paul's chance to air his views on the return of David Tennant and Catherine Tate to Doctor Who and also what he thought of Legend of The Sea Devils! Then Phil and Paul's conversation turns to what might happen in the 60th anniversary year? Review - Enlightenment Phil and Paul finally get around to discussing Enlightenment, the final part of The Black Guardian Trilogy from 1983. It's been a long time since either of them watched this but they found a lot to enjoy in an unusual story from that period of Doctor Who. And of course they discuss the acting talents of Leeeeeeeeeeeeeee John!
This month's story prompts Alex to remember what can only be described as 'a day of nicking' back in 1993. And having bravely shoplifted the story she can't help but feel a greater investment in this particular Davison adventure. There is much talk of Liza Goddard (and Lionel Blair), the blond one from Kajagoogoo, and what Nyssa had for breakfast. All in all its so 1983 it hurts. There's 2 tracks from the chart in the weeks that Terminus was broadcast, over the knee thigh boots, and more blusher than you can shake a stick at. As usual, the pair ask and answer some important questions: Why is no-one surprised that Terminus has time travel capability? Where are all the Lazars who survived? Why is the plague ship so grimly decorated? Why does Tegan call a crowbar a prybar? And are any of the Lazars lezers? They agree that the Garm is super cute and that Bor is one of the best supporting characters ever to grace the series, but they are much less enamoured with the Black Guardian bits and all the ducting. And as they hurtle towards a conclusion they agree that Nyssa's likely fate after the TARDIS leaves is very dark indeed. But it's not all grey and beige, as they discuss in a bumper Dressed for Success segment. The perfect moment for Andy to explain why he has a sexy Robin Hood outfit. it's high time Terminus was reappraised and this podcasting duo are primed and ready. We love you all. Next Time: The Ark
As we take another grimacing look into the Black Guardian's manipulation of Turlough, it's Nyssa who leaves us concerned by the story's end. The post Classic Rewatch: Terminus first appeared on Gallifrey Public Radio.

The Power of 3 takes a look at a classic trilogy in the 1980s. Peter Davison's in the TARDIS, Mark Strickson's joining as Turlough, and Valentine Dyall is the Black Guardian once more. In this very special follow up episode to our latest very special episode, we continue our discussion of the classic era Tom Baker story “Genesis of the Daleks”. And unlike other contemporary Doctor Who stories, in this one the Doctor is mischievous, Sarah Jane is plucky and Harry is heroic. And when I say ‘unlike’, I mean ‘just like’. Except for Davros, the creator of the Daleks, showing up and throwing his metaphorical hat in the ring as one of the Doctor’s greatest foes. Well, after the Master…or maybe the Black Guardian…or perhaps Tim Shaw…of course there’s the Silence…etc.

Derrick Sherwin Derrick Sherwin is the last surviving producer of 60s Doctor Who and one of only two surviving producers from the classic series as a whole. Derrick joined Doctor Who as script editor in which capacity he worked on five consecutive stories between The Web of Fear and The Mind Robber. He then wrote The Invasion, acted as de facto assistant producer on two further stories before resuming script editor duties on The Space Pirates, then succeeding Peter Bryant as producer for The War Games and Spearhead From Space. Derrick's influence on Doctor Who has been profound and persists until today – he cast Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, invented UNIT and developed the Brigadier, invented the Time Lords and came up with the idea of exiling the Doctor to Earth. Peter Davison Peter Davison is best known for his roles as the fifth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who and Tristan Farnon in James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small. Davison was born Peter Moffett in Streatham, London. The family then moved to Knaphill in Surrey at which time he became a member of an amateur theatre company called the Byfleet Players Davison studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama. His first job was as an actor and assistant stage manager at the Nottingham Playhouse. He chose the stage name Peter Davison to avoid confusion with the actor and director Peter Moffatt, with whom Davison later worked. His first television work was in a 1975 episode of the children's science fiction television programme The Tomorrow People In 1978, Davison's performance as the youthfully mischievous Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small made him a household name. Davison has said that he was mainly cast in the role because he looked as if he could be Robert Hardy's younger brother. Davison subsequently appeared alongside Dickinson as the Dish of the Day in the television version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1981), whose producers considered it humorous for an actor known for playing a veterinary surgeon to appear as a cow. In 1981, Davison signed a contract to play the Doctor for three years, succeeding Tom Baker (the Fourth Doctor) and, at age 29, was at the time the youngest actor to have played the lead role. Deborah Watling Deborah Watling, the daughter of actors Jack Watling and Patricia Hicks, began work as a child actress with a regular role as the niece of Peter Brady in The Invisible Man television series. She was later cast for the lead role in Alice, Dennis Potter's version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, for the BBC's The Wednesday Play. Watling played Victoria in Doctor Who from 1967 to 1968, though her only remaining complete serials are The Tomb of the Cybermen and the recently recovered The Enemy of the World. She also appeared in Dimensions in Time, Downtime and the audio drama Three's a Crow. In November 2013 she appeared in the one-off 50th anniversary comedy homage The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot. Terry Molloy Follow : Site : Terry Molloy has been a member of the cast of BBC Radio 4′s The Archers, playing Mike Tucker, since 1973 and has won awards for his work as an actor on radio. On television, Molloy is perhaps best known for hiplaying Davros, the creator of the Daleks, in the stories Resurrection of the Daleks, Revelation of the Daleks and Remembrance of the Daleks. He also appeared in the Doctor Who story Attack of the Cybermen as an undercover policeman named Russell. In recent years, Molloy has reprised the role of Davros in the Big Finish Productions audio dramas Davros, The Juggernauts, Terror Firma, Masters of War, The Davros Mission and the four-part miniseries I, Davros. He also played Davros in a 2005 stage production, The Trial of Davros. Michael Troughton Follow : Site : Michael Troughton is an English actor, writer and teacher. He is the son of actor Patrick Troughton and the younger brother of David Troughton. He has appeared in many film, television and theatre roles, most notably as Melish, in Minder and Sir Piers Fletcher-Dervish in The New Statesman from 1987 to 1992. His biography of his late father, Patrick Troughton, published by Hirst Publishing, was launched in November 2011. He has also completed a number of audio dramatisations for Big Finish. David Troughton David Troughton was born in Hampstead, London. He comes from a theatrical family: he is the son of actor Patrick Troughton, elder brother of Michael Troughton, and father of both Sam Troughton and Warwickshire cricketer Jim Troughton. His roles have included guest appearances in Doctor Who, first as an extra in The Enemy of the World (1967–1968), then as a soldier in The War Games (1969) and in a considerably larger role as King Peladon in The Curse of Peladon (1972). He appeared in the 2008 series of Doctor Who as Professor Hobbes, in the episode “Midnight”.
