Garron Noone is one of the country's most popular social media stars, with a combined 3.5 million followers on Tiktok and Instagram. Usually he's gently poking fun at badly made cups of tea or ranking his favourite ice creams, but last week he veered off brand and ended up at the centre of an international culture war. After making comments about Ireland's immigration crisis, he drew support from the likes of right-wing commentator Katie Hopkins and misogynist influencer Tristan Tate. He's since explained his points were not well communicated and he's dismayed by the attention from the far right. But Irish Times media columnist Hugh Linehan says Noone's comments have thrown fresh light on the language and toxic discourse that surrounds discussions of immigration. Navigating Through Discomfort to Achieve Your Dreams Discomfort can be experienced in many ways. I'm writing this blog to elaborate on a very insightful point Dedra and Garron made during our show earlier this week. It was full of value bombs, but to keep this blog from turning into a novel, I wanted to focus on one key point they discussed: Pushing past their discomforts to do what makes them happy. In this blog I'll share what resonated with me about this concept as well as share some things you can do to make those uncomfortable moments a little more comfortable. Define The Life You Want Before you take any sort of drastic leap in life, it is important to have some sort of grasp on what you want your future to look like. I'm not saying you need to know who you are going to marry, how many kids you'll have, or even where you want to live. What I have found helpful is to break it down into one, five, and ten year goals. For us, way back when it looked like this: One Year Goal: Buy a second investment property. Five Year Goal: Take a two-month long road trip. Ten Year Goal: Financial independence. We are still in pursuit of our ten-year goal and if you have paid attention to our blog so far you will have learned that we've picked up a few rental properties along the way. Let's focus on our five-year goal and some of the discomforts and obstacles we had to face to accomplish it. The Obstacle In most cases, the biggest obstacle that is interfering with someone reaching their goals is their job. Ironically, what do you need to be able to fund your goals? A job, or some other source of income. Most employers won't allow their workers to take two months off. Since you can't do both, at some point you'll have to pick. For many reasons, this will bring upon all sorts of discomfort, some coming from places you might not expect. Common Discomfort There will be thousands of questions buzzing around your head, coming from you and people you know before quitting your job. ·        How will I make money? ·        What if I fail? ·        What if the economy collapses? ·        What if I get burnt out? ·        What about my work benefits? ·        Am I making the right decision? I'll add some actions you can take at the end to reduce some of this discomfort, but I wanted to highlight one surprising area of discomfort I felt as I was exiting my job. Surprise Discomfort Actually doing it. There is a very subtle but impactful difference between these last two sections. You see, the common discomforts are obvious, and on paper you could answer them all and it would appear that you have it all figured out. I really didn't like what I was doing. I felt useless, overpaid, on a jobsite that was overstaffed, and it made me miserable feeling like I had no contribution to society (if you haven't already gotten the hint, yes, I worked for the government.) To anyone, it would seem like exiting this job would be easy. I felt like I had answered all the questions I just talked about and was fully prepared to be on my own. I had a burning desire on both ends: I deeply despised my job and had big dreams and a clear desire for what I wanted out of life. Why was I having so much doubt and discomfort about pulling the trigger? Listening to Garren and Dedra made me really think about this, and the best I can come up with is that it is human nature. Human Nature I heard somewhere that humans don't like change. We are creatures of habit, and we find comfort in routine. We resist change, and if our plans get screwed up it can bring on anxiety and discomfort. Just think about the slight discomfort you felt the last time your remote batteries died so you had to get off the couch to fetch two new AAAs. No multiply that by whatever factor would bring you to uprooting your entire life, routine, and removing your leading income source. It sounds obvious, but I may not have realized it at the time. If you are in a similar position, just know that it is normal to still have those doubts and discomforts even when those decisions should come so easy. Ways to Reduce the Discomfort Have Another Income Source In my case, we had rent checks from two other properties coming in. I also signed up with Uber and Lyft so that when times got slow (and they did) I had a straightforward way to make a small amount of money to make ends meet. And of course, having a spouse who was also working didn't hurt. Don't Burn Your Bridges Although it would nearly kill me to go back, I left my job with a good standing. I was clear with them on the issues I had working there, but there was peace of mind knowing that if I failed miserably, I could always go back. Find Something You Are Already Familiar With This may help answer the question about getting burnt out. Why did I choose to become a real estate agent? I was already familiar with it. I had been through two transactions through which I developed relationships with people in the business. I enjoyed it, and the scalable income factor was very appealing to me. Start Making Money First I made a deal with myself that I would not quit my job until I closed on my first deal as an agent. If you can find time while you are still working at your job to make some money with your next venture, that will add another spring to your launching pad. The White Guardian recruits the Fourth Doctor to collect the six hidden and disguised segments of the powerful Key to Time. He assigns him an assistant Time Lady named Romanadvoratrelundar, whom the Doctor calls Romana. He warns him that the Black Guardian also seeks these segments, but for an evil purpose. The White Guardian provides them with a wand-like device, which can locate the pieces and remove their disguise. When inserted into the TARDIS console, the locator first reveals a segment to be on Cyrrenhis Minima, but then moves to Ribos. Ribos is an icy planet with late-medieval-type inhabitants who are unaware of alien cultures. A human from Earth named Garron tries to sell Ribos to an exiled tyrant called the Graff Vynda-K. The Graff is impressed by the planet's supposed quantity of jethrik, the rarest and most valued mineral in the galaxy. He believes the opportunity confirmed when he sees a piece of jethrik among the Ribos crown jewels. This is all part of a ruse orchestrated by Garron; the jethrik was planted by Garron's assistant Unstoffe, who also was playing a native with an "honest face" who spins a yarn to the Graff about a nearby lost mine. The locator points the Doctor and Romana to the same jethrik, which must be the disguised segment of the Key to Time. The Graff Vynda-K provides a large sum of money as a deposit for the planet that is to be kept safely in the room with the crown jewels, watched by Ribos guards by day and a shrivenzale beast by night. Later, Unstoffe distracts the shrivenzale, recovers their piece of jethrik, and takes the money from the safe. The Graff learns of Garron's deception when he discovers a covert listening device in his room. He imprisons Garron with his "accomplices", the Doctor and Romana, and starts the search for Unstoffe, who still has the money and the jethrik. Unstoffe hides with Binro, a homeless outcast who believes that Ribos is a planet orbiting a star, and that there are other stars in the universe, which Unstoffe confirms to be true (because he was from Earth). The Ribos guards summon a Seeker who locates Unstoffe's hideout. Using the listening device in the Graff's room, Garron warns Unstoffe about the Graff. Binro, thankful for Unstoffe's encouragement, leads him to the labyrinthine Catacombs under the city, where the natives bury their dead. The Graff and his men enter the Catacombs without the guards, who fear the place, and the Seeker warns that if they enter, "All but one are doomed to die." K9 helps the Doctor, Romana, and Garron escape and go to the Catacombs. The guards destroy the entrance to the Catacombs causing the ceiling to collapse on the Graff's men. Having recovered the money and the jethrik, the Graff gives his last surviving guard an explosive to kill himself with. The guard, actually the Doctor in disguise, swaps the explosive for the jethrik. The Graff walks off into the maze yelling like a madman as the sounds of one of his previous battles resound around him, before exploding. After leaving the Catacombs, the Doctor, Romana, and K9 dematerialise in the TARDIS. Garron and Unstoffe claim the Graff's deserted ship, full of years of plunder, while the Doctor and Romana transform the jethrik into the first piece of the Key to Time.

We return to the group's time in Invenas. A stressful time filled with some of the most difficult adversaries that the group has faced, The Web of Fate. To shift the tides in their favor, they decide to take each member out one at a time. The first up is Garron, who they lay a very carefully thought out plan for but a single misstep allowed for her to stay alive and escape the group's effort. The tension was thick in the air of Invenas that evening for sure. Frustrated they regroup at the tea shop “Herbal Delights” with the owner, Ilezea. They decide to go after Grimwing and make another plan on how to take him out. It almost worked too, except when Galahad recalled just what the artifact's name was that Amina asked for, “The Stone of Revival”. After taking Grimwing down in an ambush a light shot from him and to the tower in the middle of the city and back to him again. He was reborn as a 10ft spider-centaur-like being from nightmares and the group collectively took him down again but started to question, how much longer could they do this for. Was the story about the spider god real? With quick thinking Salix banishes Grimwing and the group plans for an escape as Zechs arrives to tell them they have company. Arbane and his beasts are in hot pursuit of the group and they, just barely, escape. They made it to a safe house on the edge of the city and a number of the party members were contacted by their patrons. Awaking to a bestial spirit in the form of a small caracal kitten, which unsettled and enraged Zechs. Arbane tracked them, and their cover was blown, he was toying with them. The group reconnected with the resistance, trying their best to hide their tracks, and deliberated on how to remove the stone from the equation. It was decided that with the help of Iggy who could provide pendants that showed two members as high-ranked guards, they could infiltrate the Tower which the Web called home. Arguile and Shanks disguised themselves and stealthily embarked on one of the most dangerous missions they have ever had. The two made it to the den of the Web and while they were unsuccessful in retrieving the stone, they left with information and their lives. They return to the safehouse and inform the party of their encounter with some of the Web's members and the information they gathered. The party in the final hours of their showdown with the Web, plans, prays, and prepares for what's to come. How will the rest of this story unfold? Sleep and HRV trackers are becoming more popular, and the best ones have a smart dashboard that provides lots of information on your sleep performance, and HRV trends. They also have algorithms that assess all of the data and give a daily recovery score. I started using the Whoop tracker in 2017 and I have to confess that there have been times when I have been over focussed on the data to the point where I actually worried whether I was going to have a good night's sleep. Note: This is actually a diagnosable condition known as orthosomnia - obsessing over the perfect night's sleep. Over time I came to realise that the real value in devices like this is from the long-term trends and the behavioural changes which result. Today's guest is Garron Mosley, an elite age group triathlete. Garron qualified to race at the recent Ironman World Championships in Hawaii and as you'll hear the trip didn't go quite according to plan. (9:06) Rapper Mystikal has been indicted on first degree rape and is now facing a life sentence. He has a history of sexual assault, and is a repeat offender. We try to rationalize why he would need to take it instead of getting it the proper way. Get him up outta here!! (16:24) Ray J calls out Kris Jenner so he can clear his name. She recently took a lie detector test and when asked if she had anything to do with the infamous sex tape, it can back like she was telling the truth. Ray J kept the legal documents to prove she was involved. Also stated they did it three times to find the one that made Kim look this best. Last we left off, just a few hours after the assassination attempt on Garron the party sets their sights on Grimwing. They move in to strike and just manage to get the drop on him. Voyas blocks the door to the Harpy Room with her shield, (Captain America style), and the patrons start to panic. Meanwhile, back inside the party quickly discovers just exactly how the Stone of Revival works and the mystery behind the venom walkers. As Grimwing meets his end, a flash of light leaves his chest, goes towards the tower and back into him in a flash. He is transformed into a massive drider-like creature that screeches loud enough for the entire casino to hear. Galahad, Voyas, and the others go to strike the creature down, and outside Zechs knows that's his cue to act. Grimwing falls twice but is, just as quickly, brought back up as this creature. Zechs finally gets to the rest of the group to see the sight for himself and warn them that they have company incoming. Salix banishes the creature and Galahad takes his mighty sword Kanna's Fury and creates a giant hole for an exit. The group disappears into the night back to the safe house, uncertain if they were followed but confident that despite how things went the information they learned was vital. Invenas is on high alert, the party is exhausted but feeling accomplished for once and they decide to rest before the madness ensues the next day. Sojo, Waldy, and Garron switch up the format for this episode by focusing solely on the greatest of all time for MLB, NBA, NFL, Golf, and Soccer (kind of). While the NBA conversation is pretty much identical for the guys, the other sports do bring up some interesting athletes and some explanation as to why they are viewed as the GOAT in each host's eyes. Waldy-isms return this week, and the fan favorite Bum of the Week is as strong as ever. You can't talk about GOATs without thinking about the WOAT (worst of all time), and that title belongs to none other than Rey. Worst friend of all time as he abandoned his "friends". Waldy, Sojo, and Garron all sit around to talk about Steph Curry hosting the ESPYs and how badly he was attempting to be funny. As part of the discussion, the group begins a debate as to what sport has the best trophy, which does bring a variety of events into play. The episode ends with the bums of the week, but before that, Waldy does recite a beautiful poem to the love of his sports life, Eldrick "Tiger" Woods. Lastly, last weeks special guest/host, Rey, decided to big-time his team and not show up for the recording once again.

In this episode Sojo, Waldy, and Garron are finally gifted the appearance of their long lost buddy REY! The group covers Joey Chestnut solidifying himself among top athletes of all time. Waldy also gets the group up to speed with the craziness that is Aaron Rodgers and Rodgers' new tattoo.
