We dive into Steph Curry's Gentleman's Cut to see whether this 90-proof Kentucky straight bourbon from Boone County's Game Changer Distillery stands on flavor, not just fame. From the origin story and mash bill (75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley) to the five-to-seven-year age range and premium pricing, we unpack how this release positions itself for celebratory moments—and how it compares to other star-backed spirits.I share the full tasting journey, including why letting the bottle breathe transformed the experience. Expect a rich nose of vanilla and caramel with a soft nuttiness, an easygoing body with a light oily glide, and a long, centered finish with oak and a hint of char that quietly lingers. Using our nose-body-taste-finish framework, we land at 14/18—respectable, recommendable, and more compelling than a quick glance might suggest. We talk honestly about value: $78 to $80 isn't “deal territory,” but it slots beneath today's trophy bottles while aiming for premium occasions. We also broaden the lens on celebrity whiskey. Star power can supercharge awareness, access, and distribution, but longevity requires authenticity, reputable partners, and consistent quality. We highlight Boone County's craft credibility, how storytelling around celebration and friendship can ring true, and where some past celebrity labels have stumbled on youth, hype, or misaligned sourcing. EPSTEIN FILES TRANSPARENCY ACT PASSES IN HOUSE AND SENATE.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------HomeFront-Michigan: Tensions have become inflamed following demonstrations over the past few days in Dearborn. The entire affair revolves around one man, Jake Lang, who is attempting to start an "America Against Islamification" movement in Dearborn. So far several clashes have been reported between Lang's group and residents.Analyst Comment: Jake Lang doesn't live in Dearborn, he lives in New York. He's also currently running for office in Florida, and attempting to unseat Ashley Moody from her Senate seat in 2026.Indiana: More details have come to light regarding a fatal traffic accident that occurred on I-65 in Boone County over the weekend. Goderdzi Gujabidze was driving a pickup truck hauling another vehicle on a trailer when he collided with a National Guard convoy. His truck collided with one HMMWV, killing one Guardsman, and wounding the three other soldiers inside the vehicle. Gujabidze was arrested by ICE on Monday, as he is an illegal immigrant from the nation of Georgia.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In Congress, the bill to force the release of Epstein documents passed in the House and the Senate, and is expected to become law once signed by President Trump. As a reminder, President Trump has already mandated the release of these documents several times. In the world of classified documents, the President is an Original Classification Authority (OCA) so any documents that are classified for national security purposes always have been able to be released, so Congressional involvement was unnecessary. Additionally, the Binder Incident from just a few months ago cannot be forgotten either; this entire affair was already settled and allegedly on Pam Bondi's desk months ago. Now, every politician in the country is acting like we're examining this scandal for the first time.At least now, those protecting the Epstein clients are being a bit more honest. Rep. Mike Johnson stated that when more files are released, the documents will be heavily redacted, saying that "We can't release the full Epstein files without redactions due to National Security concerns" and that they need to "make sure we don't do permanent damage to the political system" by releasing the files. This of course led to the immediate assumption being that the Epstein network presenting national security concerns means that powerful elites are indeed implicated, and the US government will protect them to prevent the government from collapsing. Or at least, that's the current narrative that is now the official position of Congress and the White House. This afternoon, AG Bondi stated that a new investigation is ongoing, which will limit the release of most of what Congress just passed. Congress cannot order a federal agency to release documents pertaining to an ongoing investigation, so an ongoing investigation has miraculously materialized. This effectively nullifies the activities of the past few days, and will make sure nothing substantial is ever released.Analyst: S2A1Research: https://publish.obsidian.md/s2underground//END REPORT//

In this episode of The Bourbon Road, Jim Shannon and Todd Ritter return for Part Two of their deep dive into Lost Lantern's 2025 Summer Collection — and this time, it's all about the rye. The duo tastes through a curated lineup of four standout rye whiskeys, plus a bonus pour, delivering flavor notes, backstories, and some playful banter along the way. The tasting kicks off with Far North Spirits from Minnesota, a 4-year-old rye clocking in at 111.5 proof. It impresses with grain-forward notes, minty freshness, and a candy-like sweetness that evolves into a spicy finish — evoking everything from Melba toast to black licorice jellybeans. Next is the return of Fray Ranch from Nevada with a 6-year, 118.6-proof rye that blows both hosts away. With tasting notes of mint chocolate chip, brandy-like fruit, and a chocolate-dipped finish, it emerges as a strong contender for favorite pour of the episode. Colby and the Fray Ranch team continue to prove why their farm-to-glass model is producing truly unique and exceptional whiskey. Augusta Distillery (Augusta, KY) WF0059 The month-long celebration of the release of Whiskey Lore's Travel Guide to Experiencing Kentucky Bourbon: Second Edition continues with a journey to the Northern Kentucky region that is home to New Riff, Neeley Family, Boone County and others. But did you know, along the Ohio River, below Cincinnati and northwest of Lexington there are three distilleries just waiting to be explored? Today, we're going to visit with Ryan Edwards, co-founder of Augusta Distillery, a facility I've had the privilege of seeing evolve from the bones of an old manufacturing building into an experiential distillery that blends town charm, the building that employed so many, and a modern distillery that stretches the concept of what you can do in a distillery. It's also the home of a distiller you should know - Alex Castle. Join me as we go through the evolution of the distillery and find out what things you can do here that you've likely never done at any other distillery. We'll make you put Northeast Kentucky into your travel plans. And for Patreon.com/whiskeylore members, get an extra ten minutes to this episode with some insider information on some of the features of this distillery. Cheers and slainte mhath, Drew
