Mike Garafolo, NFL Network, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly chat about all the news and notes around the NFL. Puck and Mike get temporarily distracted because they start talking about golf and who they would like to play if they could choose anyone in the golf world! Once they stop talking about golf, they get into the Seahawks win over the 49ers and how important that was for Seattle and how crushing it was for San Francisco. Amazingly the Seahawks will be playing for first place in the NFC West on Sunday. They react to Geno Smith's appearance on the Richard Sherman Podcast. How much do the Seahawks need Smith and how much does Geno need the Seahawks?Where will Aaron Rogers end up next season? Any chance he could land in San Francisco? Will there be a number of suitors for him?Are Deion Sanders and his son a package deal to the NFL? If they are, where? Was the Bills win over the Chiefs important? Mike and Puck get right into the win over the 49ers and what was the single biggest reason for the win. Mike told Puck that Mike Macdonald offered a different tone than what Pete Carroll would always preach. It was great to have Abe Lucas back on the field and you could tell immediately that he was a difference maker and he raised the play of the entire offensive line. Geno Smith continues to be hot topic with fans and media and showed again with his last second drive why he continues to be such a polarizing topic and player. Mike gets into a very interesting discussion with Puck on the team building philosophy of Mike Macdonald and how it's different than the rest of the league thinking and how it harkens back to an older style of football. They also discuss the 49ers window and look ahead to the Seahawks matchup with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Lastly, Puck wraps up the Thursday show with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Money is not everything for everyone. Washington State defensive tackle David Gusta illustrated that this week with Puck. Happiness is being where you are and in the present.

That led to a conversation about the changing landscape of college football and will there be a day where all the West coast teams play in one conference again. Puck plays a soundbite from WSU defensive tackle David Gusta about the world of the transfer portal and the world of tampering by other college coaches. Gusta is Puck's guest this week on Coug's Corner, which you can find on YouTube, Apple, Spotify and up at PuckSports.com. The NCAA and college football need to get a handle on tampering and the NIL before it truly gets out of hand. Before Jim leaves, both discuss the top of Ernest Jones and why so many people after just three games want to sign him up immediately. Also, the boys had a good laugh at the decision looming for Jedd Fisch with who he's going to start at quarterback against Oregon. Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.comjoins Jason “Puck” Puckett to discuss the Seahawks remarkable win over San Francisco. Rob proclaims the 49ers finished and their window closed to make a run at the Super Bowl. They discuss the up and down play of Geno Smith and get into the discussion of whether to pay him or not pay him. It's a subject that is driving Rob mad! Should the Seahawks drop everything and sign Ernest Jones to a contract? Rob and Puck are both an agreement that it's way too early and let the season play out before you come to any conclusion. They also can't figure out why Pro Football Focus (PFF) does not like Jones. Can you believe the Seahawks have a shot at first place in the NFC West?! Puck and Rob can't and that's what makes sports fun. Puck than transitions to baseball and plays a preview of his Mariners Offseason DiamondTable Show with Ryan Divish and Adam Jude of the Seattle Times. On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett welcomes his regular Thursday guests: Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network and Brad Adam of ROOT Sports. It's the final visit of the year for Brad as the Mariners season is over. Puck starts off the show before Mike jumps on talking about fans reactions and anger towards ROOT Sports and how they aren't critical of the Mariners. Puck explains that they work for the team and no one who works for a team whether on TV or radio is going to be overly critical of that particular team. The Seahawks finished up the first month of the season and Puck loves where the team is at right now. The offensive numbers have stood out and the defense, minus the Detroit game has been good. On thing the defense needs to improve on is forcing turnovers. Mike Garafolo, NFL Network joins the show and immediately discusses the market for Davante Adams who has requested a trade from the Raiders. The Jets and the Saints are the obvious landing spots, but Mike said keep an eye out for the 49ers because they tried to trade for Adams over the summer while dealing with Brandon Aiyuk. If the Niners were to trade for Adams they would obviously be shipping Aiyuk out. Does Tyreke Hill want out of Miami and does he want to return to the Chiefs. Mike gives the lates on that situation. Doesn't look like Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers will play for the Giants on Sunday as he deals with a concussion. Also, don't anticipate to see Seahawks defensive tackle Byron Murphy against the Giants, but Leonard Williams will try and give it a go. Other NFL news, what happened with Von Miller and his four-game suspension? Puck moves on to talk about how concerned he is with the injury situation with Abe Lucas. If they are brining in 42 year old Jason Peters, they are in trouble. Pac-12 is in trouble after UNLV and Air Force announced their intention to stay in the Mountain West, however, the Pac-12 has the best teams from the Mountain West, so don't worry. Puck explains why he's not all that concerned. Mike Garafolo, NFL Network stops by to talk NFL. Doesn't seem like Byron Murphy and Leonard Williams will play this week. Brad Adam isn't covering the game on Thursday and he's headed to watch the game with his father and just being a fan. Brad and Jason “Puck” Puckett dive into the latest blunder involving Julio Rodriguez. Brad wants to know what was worse, the Julio play or Victor Robles from the previous night. Puck and Brad wonder and are frustrated that the team will no doubt trade one of their young pitchers in the offseason to improve the offense. They just can't decide which one will be moved. Going back to the Julio and Robles situation, Puck and Brad agree that Dan Wilson should have been more pointed in his postgame comments. He didn't need to go over the top in his displeasure, but he needed to publicly state that is not the way the Mariners play. Puck introduces Brad to the “Puckett Crisis Firm.” Lastly, this offseason will be the most critical for Julio Rodriguez. His struggles this season are a main source of why the M's will not make the playoffs.
Brad Adam, ROOT Sports concluded Thursday's guests with a breakdown of where the Mariners are at right now. How much impact has Edgar Martinez made for the offense and would he consider staying on full-time next season under Dan Wilson?
