Lors d'un casting, j'ai été choquée de voir que l'on m'a proposé de jouer la mère d'une adolescente de 16 ans (alors que je n'en avais pas 30), sans pour autant que la jeunesse de cette mère ne soit thématisée dans le scénario... Depuis je me pose systématiquement la même question: à quel âge nous donne-t-on quel rôle? Et j'ai eu envie d'en savoir plus sur ce que cela veut dire vieillir dans un métier de représentation de soi, dans une profession qui valorise la jeunesse. Partant du constat qu'on offre des rôles aux comédiens et comédiennes qui ne correspondent pas du tout à leurs âges, cet épisode met en évidence la problématique des représentations du vieillissement dans les productions culturelles. A quel point les signes liés à l'âge sont atténués et comment cela influence nos inconscients. Jennifer Jo Brout is the Director of the International Misophonia Research Network. She is a New York State Certified School Psychologist, a Connecticut Professional Licensed Counselor, and holds a Doctorate in School/Clinical-Child Psychology. She is the mother of adult triplets, and is a Misophonia sufferer herself. Disappointed by her own experiences with the state of the field when seeking help for her own child in 1999, Dr. Brout began efforts to establish better research practice, improved diagnosis, and innovative clinical practice related to auditory over-responsivity. Dr. Brout has been at the forefront of research in this area for over 18 years, having established the Sensation and Emotion Network (SENetwork) in 2007, along with Sensory Processing and Emotion Regulation Program at Duke University in 2008 (now the Misophonia and Emotion Regulation Program). Leur catalogue est composé majoritairement d'ouvrages littéraires et d'essais, mais se nourrit également d'une volonté d'interroger et de dépasser les clivages littéraires, artistiques et militants. Articulé autour de cinq concepts clés, la maison d'édition se veut intersectionnelle, hybride, lente, solidaire et incisive.
