Under the helm of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canada is not a serious country. We proved that over the weekend, when the Toronto Police failed to protect a meeting with Trudeau and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as pro-Hamas activists swarmed the Art Gallery of Ontario and police cancelled the event. Are we witnessing two-tier policing? The police had no problem brutally cracking down on protesters during the Freedom Convoy but seem to turn a blind eye to pro-terror masked activists who intimidate Jewish Canadians, threaten and attack police and even shut down diplomatic meetings. Candice Malcolm says Trudeau has failed all Canadians, and under his leadership, Canada is barely a country anymore. Tune into The Candice Malcolm Show. Learn more about your ad choices. Shaun Taylor has had a dizzying array of careers and life experiences. He was one of the original members of JTF2, Canada's tier-one special operations unit, and retired as a warrant officer. Shaun was also a Use of Force instructor for a Canadian Police college, and shortly after that, he became a computer systems engineer and was a full-time teacher in that subject. The experience he gained there led to him writing a 700-page study guide that was sold throughout North America. He followed his stint as a professional nerd by moving into a consulting role in private international security, where he eventually met his wife. This led him to the next stage of his career, where, as one would expect of a retired special operator, he settled down and opened a successful coffee shop.Shaun then discovered a passion for ultra-endurance racing, eventually leading to competitive 24-hour Solo mountain bike racing. During thirty 24-hour solo races, he competed around the world and eventually became a World Champion. People in the racing circuit began asking Shaun for help, so he created his own coaching company and worked with high-performance race athletes worldwide for the next 15 years. In 2022, after several discussions with friends within the veteran community about the concerning statistics on veteran suicide and mental health, Shaun stepped away from his coaching business. Since then, he has focused on improving things for the Veteran, LEO, and First Responder communities, which led to podcasting and the start of a new podcast platform called The Collective. His podcast has had over 200 guests, ranging from SOF members to human behavioral scientists, with a general focus on human betterment.Shaun's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shauntaylors1/The Collective Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@the_collective_yt/streamsTimestamps:00:00:22 Intro to Shaun Taylor00:02:20 Seven Careers00:07:17 JTF200:10:24 Problems Establishing Unit00:11:43 Team Culture00:14:41 Extreme Accountability00:19:17 Positive and Negative Competition00:23:24 Reason For Being00:26:02 Understanding Your Own Purpose00:31:22 How Do You Get Motivated00:40:26 When Did You Start Training00:44:08 What Did You Most Struggle With00:46:30 Living Two Different Lives00:51:50 How to Fit Training Plan Into Operational Schedule00:54:51 Always Ready To Get The Go Signal00:58:34 Maintaining Mental Health01:00:25 Outro

The Roy Green Show Podcast, September 17th 2022 From London: Ben O'Hara Byrne reports on preparations for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth.         Guest: Ben O'Hara Byrne. Host: A little more conversation. Corus radio nationally. Pierre Poilievre a week into his leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada certainly continues to lay down the gauntlet to Justin Trudeau. We speak with one of Poilievre's earliest supporters within the Conservative Party about what Senator Denise Batters believes a Pierre Poilievre leadership will bring to the CPC and what Canadians might expect from the official opposition and its leader. (Most will recall Senator Batters very public challenge of Erin O'Toole when he was CPC leader which led to the expulsion from the CPC MP caucus by O'Toole, although the party's Senate caucus refused to expel Batters.)              Guest: Senator Denise Batters (Saskatchewan) When police officers are killed in the line of duty it is their immediate families which suffer most. We speak with Jason Harnett whose brother Andrew, a Calgary Police Service Sergeant was killed on New Year's Eve, 2020, after being dragged by a fleeing vehicle and falling into the path of an oncoming car following a routine traffic stop. The driver of the fleeing car was 17 at the time and faces a murder trial. A second occupant of the car who Sgt. Harnett was in the process of arresting on outstanding warrants pled guilty to manslaughter and will be out of prison before Sgt Harnett's then unborn son will reach his 4th birthday. Sunday, September 25, the first post-Covid delayed Canadian Police and Peace Officers Memorial service will take place in Ottawa. Sgt Harnett will be recognized.                    Guest: Jason Harnett. Brother of Calgary Police Service Sergeant Andrew Harnett.    When a police officer is murdered in cold blood the entire police community in Canada suffers and rallies. On Monday (Sept 12) Toronto Police Service Constable Andrew Hong was shot and killed execution-style by Sean Petrie who according to police had been waiting at a Mississauga, Ontario, Tim Hortons for more than 2 hours for a police officer to appear. Petrie had earlier hijacked a vehicle which also involved him shooting one person who suffered life-altering injuries. Petrie then drove to his former employer's place of business and shot and killed the 38 year old father of 2 young girls and shooting two other persons at the auto body shop with one victim not expected to survive. - Petrie was then shot and killed by police near Hamilton.               Guest: David Perry. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The rule of law, policing and public service are key to a free society. Many of the issues we have been facing here in the United States are being felt by law enforcement around the world, including by our brothers and sisters in Canada. On this episode of the Blue View, National FOP President Patrick Yoes sits down with Tom Stamatakis, President of the Canadian Police Association and Chairman of the International Council of Police Representative Associations, to discuss the CPA, cultural differences, challenges facing Canadian law enforcement, and the community engagement of police. ICPRA was established to bring national police unions together to discuss police union issues, share information, and foster strong relationships between our national associations. Although we are from different countries, information sharing and networking benefit both our organizations through constructive dialogue, expertise, and shared experience. 00:00 – Intro 00:35 – About Tom Stamatakis 06:55 – Police Reform in the United States vs. Canada 15:42 – Demonization of Law Enforcement 24:20 – Police Leadership Needs to Lead 29:00 – Officer Recruitment Crisis 40:15 – The International Council: Sharing Information and Foster Relationships 46:25 – Final Thoughts

In today's episode, we speak with Andrew Ayres, a detective sergeant from Queensland Police, Australia. Andrew has been in the police force since 1992 and has seen his fair share of confronting situations. Whereas first responders, like paramedics, are the first to a scene, it is police like Andrew that see through the whole investigation. It is with this factor that PTSD is common in those serving in the police force. In 2014, what started off as few cups of coffee with work mates going through their own mental health journeys, has now turned into Blue Hope. Co-founded by Andrew, Blue Hope is a not-for-profit charity that provides support for current and former police officers around Australia. In this episode Andrew talks about his own PTSD journey, the changing views on mental health and PTSD in the police force, the situations that police are confronted with, how common PTSD is in those in the police force, what needs to be worked on in the police culture towards PTSD, and how family members of police officers affected by PTSD can help.  “If you've done significant time (in policing) or even been exposed to one traumatic incident, the PTSD monster is there” - Andrew Aryes on this episode of Wellbeing Tune in tomorrow when we speak to Canadian Police officer Laura Kloosterman about her PTSD journey. In today's episode, we speak with Laura Kloosterman, a newly retired police officer formally with the Ontario Provincial Police, Canada. Laura joined the police force at 18 years of age in 1989 and has over the course of her career worked in the areas of front-line policing, surveillance, the drug unit, witness protection, missing persons, and many more areas. She shares that it can't really be said that those working in the police force at one point in their career have not been touched by PTSD. Laura was involved in the homicide investigation of an 8-year-old girl, at a time when she herself had an 8-year-old child. It is the culmination of events such as this that lead to the development of PTSD in those serving in the police force. Laura now helps others with PTSD through Badge of Life Canada where she is the executive director. In this episode, Laura shares how she mentally dealt with seeing traumatic experiences across her career, some of the experiences She had while in the job, her journey to getting help with her PTSD, how she has managed her PTSD, the culture towards PTSD in the police force and how her daily life was effect by her PTSD before she seeked help.  “You as a police officer, you see things and you do things, that regular people don't do or don't see. I mean there have been people that have been affected by reading a book that has to do with trauma or watching a movie, or a TV show that has to do with trauma. Police officers see it in real life.” - Laura Kloosterman on this episode of Wellbeing  Tune in Tomorrow where we speak with two Victorian police officers about PTSD and police veteran support.  We would love to hear from you!
