Welcome back to the Empower Her Business Accelerator podcast! I'm your host, Philippa Channer, and we're continuing our April deep dive into content pillars. If you've been following along, we started by defining your content pillars in Episode 174, then aligning them with your business goals in Episode 175. If you haven't listened to those yet, I highly recommend going back to catch up—they really lay the groundwork for what we're diving into today. This week's focus is on something many business owners struggle with: how do you make your content around each pillar actually engaging? It's one thing to have a strategy—it's another to bring it to life in a way that connects with your audience, builds relationships, and inspires action. Creating content isn't just about showing up—it's about showing up meaningfully. Engagement is the difference between content that simply fills a feed and content that sticks in someone's mind, prompting them to think, respond, share, or even buy. And when your content resonates, it strengthens your brand, builds trust, and keeps people coming back. Let's walk through the key steps I shared in the episode for creating content that truly connects: (01:00) Why Engagement Matters in Content Engaging content isn't just fluff—it's foundational. When done well, it: Strengthens your brand by making it memorable. Drives action—clicks, shares, purchases—because people respond when they feel seen. Builds relationships by encouraging genuine connection and conversation. (02:00) Step 1: Understand Your Audience's Preferences Knowing what your audience likes helps your content get seen and heard. If your people love quick tips, give them reels or carousel posts. If they love depth, give them blogs and podcast episodes. ✨ Action Step: Dive into your analytics or ask your audience directly—figure out what formats they love most. (02:40) Step 2: Incorporate Storytelling Stories are where the magic happens. They make your message relatable and human. Whether it's a client win or your own entrepreneurial journey, storytelling transforms your content into connection. ✨ Action Step: Brainstorm stories or case studies for each content pillar—bring them to life with real voices and real impact. (03:30) Step 3: Add Value Through Education People come to you for insight, so deliver it! Teach them something useful, solve a pain point, or answer a question they're asking right now. ✨ Action Step: List out FAQs or struggles your audience has, and create content that tackles them head-on. (04:10) Step 4: Involve Your Audience Let your audience be part of the conversation. Ask for their input. Run a poll. Respond to comments. It's not about broadcasting—it's about relationship-building. ✨ Action Step: Start incorporating engagement prompts like questions, polls, or Q&A boxes into your content mix. (04:40) Step 5: Use Visuals and Multimedia People process visuals faster than text, so don't miss the opportunity to stand out. Infographics, carousels, short videos—they all boost attention and retention. ✨ Action Step: Explore easy tools like Canva or Adobe Express to create beautiful, branded visuals that match your message. (05:20) Step 6: Maintain a Consistent Voice Your brand voice is your personality in the digital world. Is it warm and empowering? Confident and bold? Whatever it is, make sure it's consistent across every touchpoint—social, email, in-person, everywhere. ✨ Action Step: Create a quick brand voice guide. Even just a page that lists tone, favorite phrases, and dos/don'ts will keep you grounded and consistent. As I shared in the episode, engaging content is about more than just publishing—it's about connecting. These strategies help ensure your content pillars don't just exist—they live and breathe in the hearts of your audience. Next week, we're wrapping up our April series by exploring how your content pillars can evolve as your audience grows and your business shifts. Trust me—you won't want to miss that one! Until then, keep shining, and remember: Engaging content is the key to turning your content pillars into meaningful connections. ✨ Special Announcements & Links

Welcome back to The Brand Is You Podcast! In today's episode, we're diving deep into one of the most powerful tools for building a personal brand that is memorable, magnetic, and converts—educational content. Let's be real—educational content can sometimes feel dry and boring… but it doesn't have to be! The key isn't just about sharing information your audience could easily Google. It's about crafting educational content from your unique perspective, with your voice, story, and experiences—so it deeply connects, builds trust, and ultimately, drives conversions. What You'll Learn in This Episode: ✔️ The biggest mistake people make when creating educational content—and how to avoid it ✔️ How to make your content digestible and engaging (hint: bite-sized is better!) ✔️ Why consistency is everything for brand authority and audience trust ✔️ The power of mixing up content formats—Reels, carousels, IG Stories, and Lives ✔️ How engagement turns followers into paying clients (and how to spark it!) Creating the right educational content is what makes people trust you, buy from you, and keep coming back for more. And the best part? It works whether you have 100 followers or 100,000. Resources & Next Steps:
"Are you a content creator?" It's a question I get asked a lot. And honestly, I don't really like the label. Why? Because the reality is, very few people make a sustainable living purely from content creation. Most of us create content to support something else – to sell a service, market a product, or build a business. Think about it. Sure, there are exceptions, like Pastor Jerry Eze, whose content monetizes directly through views. And then there are the influencers – the Kim Kardashians and Bob Risky's – who build empires on lifestyle content and brand endorsements. But for most of us, especially those in the professional services space, content serves a different purpose – using content to build credibility and drive business. My podcasts, focused on sales and marketing, lead to paid speaking engagements, coaching, and consulting gigs. The Illusion of Glamour Many are drawn to the allure of content creation, the perceived glamour and fame. But the odds of achieving Kardashian-level clout are incredibly slim. Instead, I believe a more sustainable path lies in creating content around a skill set or interest you already possess. And if you're looking for the easiest route? Focus on education. The Power of Educational Content Educational content is evergreen. It ages well, unlike trendy, entertainment-focused content. My oldest podcast episodes, from five years ago, are still among my most popular. Anyone can do it. Take your phone, explain what you do, teach people how to do it, and show them how it benefits their lives or businesses. Key Takeaways: * Don't chase fame: Focus on building a business, not just an audience. * Leverage your skills: Create content that showcases your expertise. * Educate, don't just entertain: Educational content has lasting value. * Anyone can do it: Start creating content that helps others. So, are YOU a content creator? Maybe. But more importantly, are YOU using content to build a real, sustainable business? #contentmarketing #business #education #podcast #marketing #sales

In today's first episode of my new podcast and YouTube show, The Allocator: A New Way to Finance Real Estate, I'm joined by Badri Malynur, co-founder of Avestor. Badri explains how Avestor caters to the needs of the real estate capital formation industry by providing a platform that redefines how funds are created and managed. What is an Allocator? An allocator is someone who typically negotiates preferential terms (such as higher preferred returns or more favorable promote splits) with a sponsor in exchange for delivering a significant investment into a deal. Once the terms are secured, the allocator pools investments from other individuals to meet the negotiated threshold. They may share the preferential terms with their investors or retain the difference as compensation for their efforts. How Avestor is Different Unlike platforms such as Juniper Square or IMS, which primarily serve as document management systems, Avestor goes further by integrating these backend processes with a customizable fund model. This model allows sponsors and allocators to create funds that consolidate offerings from multiple sponsors, giving investors the flexibility to allocate their capital as they see fit across various deals within the same fund. Streamlined Processes Avestor simplifies fund management by providing a single Private Placement Memorandum (PPM) that covers all deals within a fund, along with individualized deal disclosure statements. Investors receive a consolidated K1 at year-end, eliminating the need for multiple documents. By reducing legal fees and administrative burdens, the platform makes fund creation and management more efficient for allocators, sponsors, and their investors. Additional Resources and Support Beyond fund customization, Avestor provides pre-developed legal templates, accounting support, and optional marketing partnerships. It also offers access to educational content, mastermind groups, and tools to help fund managers grow their businesses, creating a comprehensive solution for those looking to streamline capital raising and fund management. Badri and I discuss the Avestor platform and the capital allocator industry in detail. This is an episode you don't want to miss. ***** Explore the world of real estate capital allocators—a fresh approach to financing that's reshaping the industry. When the pandemic hit, Matt Newman, like many hairstylists, found himself at home unoccupied. Eventually, though, he took his expertise to TikTok — and today, he has 2.4 million followers on the platform and another 1.2 million on Instagram. Regularly working with brands like Tresemmé, he's known for both his tutorials and his takes on viral trends and hacks. But what he is most proud of in his four years of content creation is simply teaching people how to do their hair, he said. "The thing people tell me when I meet my internet friends in real life, is, 'You taught me how to blowdry my hair.' That's my biggest accomplishment — and it's not always my most viral content, but it's my most meaningful content. It's empowering to know how to fall in love with your own hair in your bathroom, with the stuff you already own." On this week's episode of the Glossy Beauty Podcast, Newman discusses the value of educational content, the power of creating with brand partnership opportunities in mind and the reason he's not creating tons of TikTok Shop-forward content.

Chris Duffin sits down with the remarkable powerlifting virtuoso, Brianny Terry. Celebrated for her impressive lifts and consistency, Brianny opens up about her recent meet where she almost quit but instead rediscovered her love for the sport by lifting for fun. We explore not just her athletic achievements, but the values ingrained from her military family upbringing, her struggle and triumph in defining her identity beyond sports, and her steadfast commitment to mental and physical strength. Brianny shares profound insights into the pressures of social media, the importance of adaptability, and her evolving views on strength and femininity in powerlifting. From her meticulous training regimens and mental recovery techniques to her ambitions and personal philosophies, Brianny's story is a testament to resilience. She also discusses the supportive nature of the powerlifting community and the balance between competition and camaraderie. Brianny Terry, a determined and resilient athlete, recently participated in her first FQ meet despite facing significant challenges just ten days before the event. During her preparation, she struggled with a 622-pound deadlift, failing twice—once due to strength and once due to her grip. The second failure resulted in a ripped hand, leading Brianny to doubt her chances of setting a new record. Though discouraged, she ultimately decided to continue, motivated by the support of her friends and the desire to experience the meet. Brianny's journey is a testament to her perseverance and determination in the face of adversity. Kris Kaiser and Stephen McCaul met at a pub in Santa Monica, California, and hit it off immediately. A shared interest in sound brought them together. Kris and Stephen's professional paths were quite different, but audio was a common thread throughout their lives. Kris's PhD dissertation studied the effects of urban noise on the breeding behaviors of frogs. Stephen developed audio software for video games. Both shared a love for spreadsheets, food, and the glorious sound and invitingly impenetrable interface of the Yamaha DX7 synthesizer. A few years later, Kris was a professor and Stephen worked on increasingly complex audio problems in his day job. As an escape, they began experimenting with home-built synthesizers and wild DIY noisemakers. Stephen developed a Eurorack module over a weekend after a dare from a friend, and the synth community took notice. That was the beginning, and in 2016 they quit their jobs and took Noise Engineering full time. Now a staple boutique developer, their hardware and software products are used and adored by hobbyists, composers, artists, and producers around the world. About 6-7 years ago…I would post a picture of me in Bali and share something inspiring with a CTA and this would lead to sales and clients. These days, the bar has been raised so much higher–just inspiring content is no longer effective. AND just educational content does not work either. I'm going to take this even further. Just educational content is not good for your business. Sometimes, I see my clients hiding under the teacher's hat instead of saying what they really think. AND most of the time, they're bored to death from creating just educational content

There's a lot of great content out there. So why not find inspiration there? Sample it, remix it and make it your own.In this episode, we're turning to one of the greats when it comes to sampling: the late rapper and producer J Dilla. Together with the help of our guest, Head of Marketing at Crowdcube, John Hills, we're talking about borrowing from content that's already out there, building your content IP, and never losing your human touch.About our guest, John HillsJohn Hills is Head of Marketing at Crowdcube, Europe's leading equity crowdfunding platform. To date, they've helped raise over £1.4 billion for over 1,300 businesses and built up a community of over 1.7 million members. He joined Crowdcube in April of 2022. Prior to his current role, John led the marketing team at FrontFundr, Canada's leading equity crowdfunding platform. There, his team helped 70+ companies raise more than $90M and built up an investor community of over 32,000 people. He has also previously held marketing roles at Duuers and Founder Institute. Outside of work, he is a bass player, marathon runner and a record collector. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Donuts:Sample, sample, sample. Just like J Dilla samples from Dionne Warwick, The Temptations, Run-DMC and more on Donuts, you can borrow ideas from content that's already out there too. You don't have to come up with something totally original every time. John says, “When you're doing content marketing, the bar is incredibly high. You can feel quite overwhelmed. Like, I don't have the budget that Apple has, neither do I have the brand expertise or the people to do it. That doesn't mean that I can't have an impact. I can still be scrappy. I can still look at what's working and create things that are memorable and valuable for people. And so I think that you can just look at what's already out there and how you fit into that rather than feeling you have to create something new. You can take what's there, see what appeals to people and see how you can make that memorable and impactful as well.”Build your content IP. John says, “You could create a load of content and just farm it out. [But instead] why don't you find a problem that your customer really cares about, name it so you're acknowledging it, you're identifying it, and then exist only to solve that problem. You become known - you become synonymous - with that content IP.” For J Dilla, his calling card - what he was known for - was a horn sampled from Isaac Hayes. And John says, “I kind of think of that as his content IP. You know it's him. It's giving you what you want, which is a dopamine hit of great music. He's being there for you. And I think that's what we have to do as marketers too, right? Like basically find your Isaac Hayes horn and blast it where appropriate.”AI's a useful tool, but never lose your human touch. John says “that's really what's going to land with people and what's going to resonate.” It's like how J Dilla sampled from live recordings, which John points out have slight imperfections and variations from a studio recording. He says live recordings catch your ear, engage you more and are more memorable.Quotes*”Sampling is interesting because you're channeling your interests. You're like part curator, part creator. And like that is truly what a marketer is. It's just a perfect metaphor for modern marketing.” - Ian Faison*”If you want to engage and build an audience, you want to be known as someone that's bringing them the good stuff. You filter through. You know which places to look, which is what [J Dilla's] doing on the album. Like, ‘I know this really particular little piece of a song which I dug out from a record shop and turned into something that sounds really cool for you.' In the same way we, as marketers, have an attention economy, right? So it's kind of ‘Why should you have to pay attention to me rather than someone else?' I've done the hard yards and I'm bringing you the good stuff, packaged neatly in a newsletter or a podcast or on a social feed.” - John HillsTime Stamps[0:55] Meet John Hills, Head of Marketing at Crowdcube[2:44] Exploring the Genius of J Dilla and Donuts[10:39] Sampling in Music and Marketing: Creativity Unleashed[22:13] AI in Marketing: Keeping the Human Touch Alive[26:30] Crafting a Content Strategy at Crowdcube[27:42] Content Strategy: Educating Companies on Equity Crowdfunding[28:19] The Art of Content Distribution and Engagement[29:04] Crafting High-Quality, Educational Content[31:18] Innovative Campaigns: From Invoicing Templates to Cricket Burgers[40:25] Leveraging LinkedIn for Demand Generation[44:26] Broadening Horizons: Beyond Marketing Books[46:53] RecommendationsLinksWatch Parks and RecreationConnect with Jen on LinkedInLearn more about IntellimizeAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. Dallas Parsons, Senior Director of Marketing at Mixhers, joins Retention Chronicles to discuss adding value to the ecommerce customer experience. Dallas started at Mixhers as a customer success manager, so she knows exactly what their customers care about most after her first-hand experience. She's since transitioned into their marketing department to focus on customer retention, email marketing, designing the customer experience, implementing marketing technology, loyalty programs, & more. Like many ecommerce brands, Mixhers continues to focus on customer retention as customer acquisition costs (CAC) continue to rise. They chose to funnel their energy towards what was working for them - email marketing. Dallas and her team decided to define an email marketing strategy that helped educate their customers. They did this by enabling a product quiz around which supplement would be the best for that customer based on their answers. At face value, some ecommerce brand operators would argue that this isn't a smart marketing approach as it could add friction to the buying experience. But, the Mixhers team saw that it actually helped their customer's buying experience and resulted in higher revenue. With more confidence in what product they were buying, Mixhers customers benefited largely from this addition. Dallas tells Mariah about this decision and much more on this newest episode of Retention Chronicles.
