In this episode of Real Christianity, Pastor Dale Partridge begins a three-part series on refuting Catholic doctrines about Mary, focusing first on the perpetual virginity of Mary. Drawing on both Scripture and theological analysis, Dale critiques Catholic claims by examining biblical evidence, including references to Jesus' siblings, which challenge the idea of Mary's perpetual virginity. The discussion highlights the importance of these Marian dogmas within Catholicism, where denial leads to excommunication and is seen as jeopardizing salvation. For Protestants, refuting these doctrines is vital to upholding biblical authority and Christ-centered theology.

On this week's episode of the SSPX Podcast, we welcome again Fr. Shane Pezzutti to discuss what the Church professes concerning the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is a point of Catholic dogma that Our Lady's virginity was perpetual, yet some Christians question this position based not only on conjecture, but ostensibly on the Bible. In this episode, we examine the question and explain, on the basis of Scripture and Tradition, why the Church states infallibly that Mary remained a virgin for her entire life. May is the perfect month to review some of these questions, not only to satisfy our reason, but to hopefully increase our devotion as well to this great privilege of our Blessed Mother. We'd love your feedback on these Daily Devotionals! Infancy gospels or protoevangelions are a genre of religious texts that arose in the 2nd century. They are part of New Testament apocrypha, and provide accounts of the birth and early life of Jesus. The texts are of various and uncertain origin, and are generally non-canonical in major modern branches of Christianity. They include the Gospel of James, which introduces the concept of the Perpetual Virginity of Mary, and the Infancy Gospel of Thomas (not to be confused with the unrelated Gospel of Thomas), both of which cover many miraculous incidents from the life of Mary and the childhood of Jesus that are not included in the canonical gospels.
