Frigus is a snowshoe race put on by The Endurance Society, a Northeast based event company run by Andy Weinberg. Many OCR enthusiasts from back in the day know the importance of Andy but nowadays he is still a solid race director. Speaking of OCR enthusiasts, I was able to have Scott Sweeney call in to talk about his experience at Frigus. Scott is frequently a volunteer coordinator for races like FIT Challenge and Bonefrog. Whether he is participating or playing a crucial role in the event, he is always a welcome sight. Be sure to thank him for the work he does as an unsung hero. Races can't happen without volunteers, and the volunteer coordinator is vital in getting them together to keep races running smoothly. 0:00 - 2:11 - Intro 2:11 - 3:52 - Quick News 3:52 - 4:19 - Content Preface 4:19 - 20:42 - Scott Sweeney Interview 20:42 - End - Outro ____ News Stories: Canadian Spartan Schedule Savage Point Series John Albon's AlbonApp OCR Running Clinic with Coach Diaz at Underdog Surprise Secret Link Leg Day Secret Link ____ Related Episodes: 60. How can we use curiosity to find what works for us when we are trying to develop a healthy relationship with food? How have we confused who we are with what we eat? And what makes us so defensive when we talk about our own food choices? This and more as we get curious with Corinna Coffin. Corinna Coffin, M.S., R.D., is a registered dietitian and fitness enthusiast with a strong passion for helping others lead healthier, happier lives through nutrition and lifestyle practices. A Virginia native, she attended Virginia Tech for undergraduate school where she received dual degrees in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise as well as Spanish. During her time there, she competed on the University's club lacrosse and triathlon teams, as well as discovered CrossFit and obstacle course racing (OCR). Four months after her first competitive OCR, she placed second at the 2014 Spartan Race World Championship in Killington, Vermont, and signed her first pro-team contract shortly thereafter. Corinna spent the next 2.5 years (including her final semester of school) racing professionally all around the continent. Since then, she has placed first and second at the 2017 and 2018 Tough Mudder X Championships, as well as competed on teams at the 2017 and 2018 CrossFit Regionals and at the 2018 CrossFit Games. On the podcast today, Corinna dives deep into our relationship with food and how we can use curiosity to find what works for our body. She discusses the importance of nourishing your body and taking the perspective of 'what can I give you' instead of 'what can I take from you.' She also explores her own relationship to curiosity as a competitive athlete and how asking herself, what if?, allowed her to become a top athlete in various sports. OUR CURIOUS JOURNEY: 6:46 - How does nature heal us wholistically. 10:30 - Is what you eat a reflection of who you are? 13:20 - How food choices become a vehicle for self- and other-judgment. 15:45 - Curiosity as the catalyst for understanding your relationship with food. 19:08 - The importance of empowerment around food choices and nutrition. 24:45 - Why sustainability is key when choosing your own nutrition plan. 29:30 - Using values to help you meet your goals. 37:36 - The role of curiosity in Corinna’s athletic accomplishments. 45:00 - How limitations grow inside of our heads. 51:30 - Human Declaration Quiz. 57:37 - Closing Curiosity.
