There have been a bunch of shows in the last 10 years that have been about OCR and/or featured athletes from OCR. The first name that came to mind for this chapter is the living legend himself, Hunter McIntyre. Hunter loves the camera, and the camera loves him back. He's the most outspoken athlete in the game, and he has the talent to back it up. He's been on more magazines and seen more airtime than anyone else in our industry. You could say he is our only true crossover star. Hunter joined us to discuss Boundless, Steve Austin's Broken Skull, Spartan Ultimate Team Challenge, Million Dollar Mile, and The Spartan Games. This episode was first released in 2021 and has proven to be one of our all-time most popular episodes. It has tons of action items and insights. Hunter McIntyre is one of the most decorated (and polarizing) multi-sport athletes in history. On top of being a mainstay in the sport of Obstacle Racing with 6 World titles to his name, he is a CrossFit Games competitor, has held the "Murph" World Record and Hyrox World Record, has been the Hyrox World Champion, was featured on both editions of the Spartan Games, and is undefeated on CMT's popular TV Show Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge. He was named to the Top 50 Fittest Athlete's List by Sport's Illustrated and has been featured in numerous magazines like Men's Health and Men's Journal. Hunter is a successful fitness entrepreneur and trainer. In this episode, Jamie Allison and Hunter talk about his drive to win at everything he does, how he studies his competitors, how had to build back his businesses and sponsorships after the pandemic, and how his grandfather played a big role in his success. We had plans with a great OCR athlete to have them on the show for a Mother's Day episode! Got a bunch of questions together that I have been coming up with over the years for her/him and was good to go ... but never heard back on Sunday. So then we extended our availability for Monday ... and still haven't heard back. So now our future backup idea for an episode became our current backup episode! The title is a bit much but it kinda gets the point across doesn't it? It wasn't a complete dumpster fire but there were an insane amount of issues that would have been an easy fix. We took notes while watching the show to prepare for a potential OCR Report episode that never happened so we go through those for this episode. There are more thoughts in hindsight but hope you enjoy our ramblings on the second season of the Spartan Games! 0:00 - 2:28 - Intro 2:28 - 12:38 - Quick News 12:38 - 13:47 - Content Preface 13:47 - 41:57 - Thoughts on Spartan Games 41:57 - End - Outro ____ News Stories: Jack Goras' Brother OCR in Olympics?* Horse Punching Alyssa Hawley Done with OCR Baby Cichosz Ohio OCR Grand Slam Hyrox Athletes Going to World Championship Top 12 Deka Mile Elites Spartan Montana Beast Elite Results Spartan Montana Ultra Elite Results Spartan Montana Super Elite Results Savage Charleston Podiums Proposal Secret Link Sexual Innuendo Secret Link Beautiful Secret Link Paw Paw Secret Link ____ Related Episodes: Spartan Games Day 2 and Ice Cream 5k with Katelyn Ritter OCR and the Olympics, Spartan Games 2.0, and Spartan Cross League with Spartan Head of Sport David Watson ____ Next episode we will be hearing from an athlete from Big Bear Spartan or maybe Hyrox World Championship! ____ The OCR Report Sponsored Athletes: Javier Escobar and Kelly Sullivan! In 2018 Robert Owens was declared “The Fittest and Mentally Toughest 66-Year-Old in the World” by Joe De Senna of Spartan Games. Robert says, “Everyone wants to be an overcomer, but nobody wants the battle. Everybody wants to be victorious, but nobody wants to fight through. If you can tolerate it in your life, you won't change it. Everything we want it life lies outside our comfort zone, and you have far more potential than you ever thought existed.” In other words, you can go far beyond average. Special Guest: Robert Owens.
Ryan and Veejay pop on to talk about every single event of the Spartan games. In the episode we go into detail about the competition and talk what we did not seen on camera.
Kris Rugloski is an elite obstacle course racer completing over 40 of them and racking up more than 30 podium finishes. After not participating in sports throughout high school or college like most of her peers, she is now enjoying being a true hybrid athlete. She has completed nine 100 mile ultra runs and is quickly becoming a HYROX World Competition favorite. She was a competitor on the Rock's The Titan Games and went up against some of the top athletes in her sports on the recently released Spartan Games 2. In this episode she talks with host Jamie Allison about how she has developed her mental resilience through taking on tough challenges, how she is enjoying her best life right now by integrating her work, sports and social life, and she talks about her experience on Spartan Games 2.
