Mickey's Philharmagic! How dare Disney say Mickey isn't in an attraction? Enjoy a maybe-brief review of the history of the land on which these theater attractions currently exist. Dan gets defensive. Erik starts talking about another list of voice actors. Jimmy forms his own opinions. You know how the show works. Anyway, we're looking at the two renditions of Mickey's Philharmagic in DCA and the Magic Kingdom. Which is better? Are we working toward some conclusion to the Hollywood streets at some point? We take you back to an attraction and for our fans that wanted us to go way back, we are going way back. The Mickey Mouse Revue which opened October 1, 1971 last about nine years closing in the fall of 1980. How is leading us this month which only means one thing: we are going super deep into this topic. He begins by going over the homophone of Revue vs. Review and also how little is out there on the Mickey Mouse Revue. This attraction was located where the current Mickey's PhilharMagic is playing each day, so you can get a feeling as to how this played and where it was in the 70s. Throughout this episode, we walk you through the history and how the show plays out from start to finish. We recommend you watch the following video, just so you can get a visual of this attraction. How also gets us into how the attraction felt, which I appreciated very much because many of us have not seen this one in person. The voice of Mickey is discussed from this episode and it is not one of the better versions… This quirky and unique show has lots of small details and stories that really make it unique. As we dig into the history of this one you are really going to be blown away as to how this whole thing played out. Finally, we get into what happened after the doors closed in 1980 and where the entire thing ended up, with some recent updates! We hope you enjoy this look back at this unique attraction.

Disney World And Beyond with The Gold Key Adventurers Society
Beating The Heat at Disney World This week, the Gold Key Adventurers Society gathers to share some tips on how to beat the heat while visiting Walt Disney World in Florida during the peak summer season. To avoid the scorching heat, we suggest going to the parks early in the morning and late in the evening, taking breaks during the middle of the day, and spending time at the pool when it's hottest. For those staying overnight or longer, choosing to stay at a Walt Disney World resort hotel can enhance the overall experience by taking advantage of early entry and extended park hours, and hopping between parks to avoid the heat from the hottest ones, such as Animal Kingdom and Epcot. When it comes to seeking ways to escape the heat, we share with listeners the various indoor attractions that provide a good respite. The Magic Kingdom has indoor attractions like PhilharMagic and Enchanted Tales with Belle. In Epcot, indoor options like Living with the Land and The Three Caballeros boat ride are recommended. In Hollywood Studios, the light show at night is beautiful as is Toy Story Midway Mania. We also share our favorite cooling gear for staying comfortable and suggest using handheld fans, lightweight, rechargeable fans, and cooling neck gaiters. We also caution listeners against spending too much on overpriced cooling towels and suggest using a bandana or wet ball cap. Additionally, we share fun facts about the Disney parks, including some history and trivia. We also discuss some of our favorite pools and water attractions in Walt Disney World, including Stormalong Bay and the Big Blue Pool. We even suggest finding rest and respite at pool bars and sit-down meals on the hot days. We emphasize the importance of staying on-site to quickly return to the resort and avoiding traveling off-property during peak season. For those looking to relax and avoid the heat on Florida's hottest summer days, some tips include arranging for preferred parking or utilizing the Skyliner. We also recommend indulging in some treats like Dole Whip or a citrus swirl, and drinks from Trader Sam's, and the pool bars at Riviera and Nomad Lounge. We also discuss an upcoming Indiana Jones movie and share some alternative options for cooling down, taking a humorous note in the popular song and making a funny joke. We close the show with some recommendations for staying hydrated while visiting theme parks and for avoiding heat stroke and dehydration. We suggest bringing water bottles or simply asking for water at quick serve counters. We also discuss drinking electrolyte beverages like Powerade or smart water for salt replenishment. And we remind our listeners that it's important to stay cool and not party too hard during the hot Florida summers, and to take breaks when necessary. So go out there, follow these tips and have a great time at Walt Disney World! As always, a huge thank you to our sponsor, Key to the World Travel. The refreshed land greeted guests as a soft opening on Saturday after a media event, and then officially opened on Sunday. The newly reopened section has some of the same features that guests really liked in the already opened section for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. Rob't Coltrin became a Disney Legend in 2020 (inducted at the D23 Expo 2022 ceremony) after spending 30 years at Walt Disney Imagineering. As a show set designer, concept artist, art director, and creative executive, Rob't became a go-to artist at Walt Disney Imagineering for concept work, storytelling, and ride layouts. Rob't is famous for helping design such noteworthy attractions as Expedition Everest, Toy Story Mania, Radiator Springs Racers, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Enchanted Tales of Beauty and the Beast, Mystic Manor, Mickey's Philharmagic, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (to name just a few). His likeness can also be found as a Disney S.E.A. character (Prof. R. Blauerhimmel, which fittingly translates to "Blue Sky"). In this podcast episode, I chat with Rob't about his career at Walt Disney Imagineering, including some of the attractions he helped bring to life. We also "geek out" together about ride layout design and blue sky development. What is your favorite Rob't Coltrin land or attraction? From the moment we step into the lobby, the space is abuzz with excitement, full of music and performance posters, all building a joyous anticipation of what's to come! Inside the theater itself, dazzling chandeliers and velvet curtains offer that quintessentially elegant ambience that promises something spectacular to come. As we settle into our seats, the sound of the orchestra warming up brings our anticipation to a crescendo. Mickey's Philharmagic is an immersive experience like no other. Here, we are not only reliving all the nostalgia of these time-honored Disney stories…we are a part of them. Our imaginations are awakened and our senses held spellbound as we follow Donald through a montage of Magic…and mayhem. Listen for the chime of Big Ben and feel the cool night air of London as we fly away to Neverland with Peter Pan. Now sit back, relax, and put on your “Opera” glasses. The show is about to begin!

This week on a fab five , 4D, Three caballero, 2 to tango, 1 and only episode of ‘The Dark Ride' we drink all about the little fantasyland filler that could, when it's central Florida hot out and you need a nap, there has always been one tried and true attraction to go to. Well before the picnic mayhem of Mick and Min, there was always a place where we could go to be soothed by the sounds of an enraged duck trying to fix his past life mistakes. A place where we could always get our fill of original Disney characters while duping youngsters into listening to classical music, welcome to Mickey's PhilharMagic.
