In this episode, host Colin Mitchell interviews Elizabeth Frederick, the host of Let's Talk Sales podcast and the president and CEO of Collavia. They discuss the concept of setting "stupid goals" and how to avoid them. Elizabeth breaks down the acronym SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) and introduces her own acronym, STUPID (Shoulds, Tasks, Unaligned, Procrastination, Inattentive, Disconnected), to help people set more effective goals. They emphasize the importance of aligning goals with individual skills and interests, breaking goals down into actionable tasks, adapting to changing situations, and connecting goals with calendars and task lists.Follow the Host:Collin Mitchell (Partner, Leadium)Our Episode Guest:Elizabeth Frederick (President and CEO, Collavia)Sponsored By:Leadium | The leader in outbound sales appointment setting*If you'd like to be a guest on the show or have any questions, email us at guest@salestransformation.co - Just tell us why you're reaching out and we'll contact you as soon as we can!

What is our goal in life? Is it to accumulate wealth, enjoy life, and pass away? Or is it to make others miserable or happy? For believers in the hereafter, the ultimate goal is to enter heaven. This is the focus of our discussion, as those who desire hell cannot be helped. Allah has outlined the criteria for success in the Quran in various places, such as Surah Waqiah, Surah Al Mominoon, Surah Yasin, Surah Mulk, and others. However, the key concept is that life is a test, and good deeds must outweigh bad deeds. It is a common misconception that performing prayers and prostrations are the only indicators of good deeds. If that were the case, Satan would have been the most successful. However, Allah's test is not always obvious. Satan failed because he could not pass a test. One may wonder why Allah tested Satan and creation despite their worship. What was the purpose? Additionally, if Allah tested them before, why would he not test again? To pass Allah's test, one must understand the criteria set forth for humans and Muslims. Consider the example of two students preparing for an exam. Student 1 follows the syllabus and past exams provided by the professor, while Student 2 reads broadly but does not follow the recommended books, fails to prepare for the exams, and ignores the successful students from previous years. The professor gave all the necessary instructions at the beginning of the term, sharing previous exams, course materials, and examples from successful students. The professor does not visit daily and will judge all the students after four years. Student 1 follows the instructions, while Student 2 convinces himself that he is doing the right thing and tries to influence others to not follow Student 1. Our aim with this series is to highlight the path of success followed by Student 1 and the mistakes made by Student 2 in the context of Allah's message. Ultimately, why would anyone not desire to enter Jannah? Moreover, why should anyone face an incorrect fate after working hard because of Student 2? To make the choice of Student 1, one must either be blessed or have an understanding of Allah's test. Luck is not always in our favor, so it is imperative to understand the test's context to make a conscious decision. Our ultimate goal should be to enter Jannah and avoid facing the wrong fate.

Nicole Bryson is an expert in ELA/Writing and a District Teacher of the Year winner. Last year alone, she received over 50 hours of professional development in writing. In the 21st Century, students need much more than content knowledge. There are specific skills required to be successful that can and should be taught through content. Skills that include: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, information literacy, media literacy, technology literacy, flexibility, leadership, initiative, productivity, and social skills.  Wouldn't we all agree that all careers require these skills in the form of writing? Would we then agree that we should teach our students these skills in their writing? In today's episode, Nicole and I discuss why students should write regularly and how to implement writing in our virtual classrooms. Writing is not limited to ELA classes and a writing workshop. Research has proven repeatedly (see references below) that writing leads to academic gains when used cross-curricular.
