Blade is a 1998 American superhero film directed by Stephen Norrington and written by David S. Goyer. Based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name, it is the first installment of the Blade franchise. The film stars Wesley Snipes as the titular character with Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson and N'Bushe Wright in supporting roles. Blade is a Dhampir, a human with vampire strengths but not their weaknesses, who fights against vampires. Blade was released in the United States on August 21, 1998, and was a commercial success, grossing $70 million at the U.S. box office, and $60.2 million worldwide. Despite mixed reviews from film critics, the film received a positive reception from audiences and has since garnered a cult following. It is also hailed as one of Snipes's signature roles.[4] Blade was noted as a dark superhero film for its time,[5] as well as being Marvel's first successful film and setting the stage for further comic book film adaptations.[6][7] It was followed by two sequels, Blade II (2002) and Blade: Trinity (2004), both written by Goyer, who also directed the latter.

In this thought-provoking episode I interview NVC trainer, Mary Goyer, about one of the most challenging topics for couples to talk about openly: sex. Why is it so hard to discuss sex openly, compassionately, and connectedly, and how can Nonviolent Communication help us through this so we can have the amazing sex lives we long for? Exploring various barriers to communication, Mary addresses societal conditioning, individual traumas, and limiting beliefs surrounding sexuality. From systemic challenges to personal experiences of trauma, we examine how these factors contribute to the difficulty of expressing one's desires and needs in intimate relationships. Throughout the episode, Mary shares practical strategies based in Nonviolent Communication to support us all in having more satisfying sex lives. We cover a wide range of topics, including how to address judgments, how to negotiate differences in preferences, and how consent can be hot. Worried that talking about sex will kill the vibe? Don't worry! We address that head on, and show you how it can actually have the opposite effect. Join us as we challenge societal norms, break down communication barriers, and empower couples to embrace open, honest, connecting conversations about sex and intimacy. Whether you're new to NVC or a seasoned practitioner, this episode offers valuable guidance for enhancing connection and satisfaction in your sex life. Resources Mary Goyer, featured guest: 1.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your one-stop-shop for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. As of Sunday, the Writers Guild reached a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to end its strike after nearly five months. The parties finalized the framework of the deal Sunday when they were able to untangle their stalemate over AI and writing room staffing levels. This is welcome news to everyone involved no doubt and hopefully means the actor's strike will soon follow suit. The first trailer for the upcoming three-episode Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Special has premiered to excited Whovians everywhere. The trailer features David Tennant portraying a reincarnation of his Tenth Doctor who reunites with his companion Donna Noble played by Catherine Tate, as well as Jemma Redgrave reprising her role as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, and Neil Patrick Harris will play The Toymaker, an all-powerful villain who first appeared in 1966. For reasons unknown to many, a reboot of the U.S. version of The Office is rumored to be in the works. Original creator Greg Daniels is reportedly returning and has previously hinted at bringing the show back, but with different actors in the roles. Daniels has also been quoted as saying he envisioned it as a quote “extension of the universe…but I don't know if that would be something people want…” end quote. In a recent podcast interview, screenwriter David S. Goyer let loose some interesting info about the Christopher Nolan Batman films, stating that he vouched for Jake Gyllenhaal to portray the titular character of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Goyer continued to tantalize saying that he is pretty sure there is test footage laying around somewhere of Gyllenhaal's audition in a Batman costume. We also could have had a Leonardo DiCaprio version of The Riddler, if an unnamed Warner Bros. executive had gotten their way. The Dark Knight trilogy is often lauded as some of the best feature films of the Caped Crusader. Amazon has announced that its Prime Video service will feature limited ads beginning in early 2024 and the ad tier will be the default option for Prime Video. Paramount has set a release date for its untitled sequel to the surprise horror hit Smile. It will be released Oct. 18, 2024. Lionsgate has released a new trailer for The Hunger Games prequel film Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The film is set to hit theaters on November 17th, despite the ongoing actor's strike. During what is expected to be the worst weekend for theatrical ticket sales so far this year, Expendables 4 landed only $8.3 million in its opening weekend, representing the worst opening for a film in the franchise. It was narrowly bested by The Nun II, which continues its reign at the September box office. Gareth Edwards' hotly anticipated sci-fi epic The Creator has finally been unveiled for its first audience, with a press screening taking place last week. Judging by the early social media reaction from journalists and critics, there is almost universal praise for the way The Creator looks and the stunning work of cinematographers Oren Soffer and Greig Fraser. Many of those who saw the film last Monday described it as one of 2023's best films. The movie releases this week on September 29th.

While on hiatus, Enrique decided to take things into his ow hands to guarantee that DBB Inc, has never missed out on a week in their entire damn career! After declaring, Robert Pattison's The Batman is the best single Batman movie, he goes back and watches what people consider the definitive trilogy to decide once and for all, for himself of course. Movie Summary: The Dark Knight Rises is a 2012 superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan, who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Jonathan Nolan, and the story with David S. Goyer. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, it is the final installment in Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, and the sequel to The Dark Knight (2008). The film stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne / Batman, alongside Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Morgan Freeman. Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist Bane forces Bruce Wayne to resume his role as Batman and save Gotham City from nuclear destruction. Christopher Nolan was hesitant about returning to the series for a third film, but agreed after developing a story with his brother and Goyer that he felt would conclude the series on a satisfactory note. Nolan drew inspiration from Bane's comic book debut in the 1993 "Knightfall" storyline, the 1986 series The Dark Knight Returns, and the 1999 storyline "No Man's Land". Filming took place from May to November 2011 in locations including Jodhpur, London, Nottingham, Glasgow, Los Angeles, New York City, Newark, and Pittsburgh. Nolan used IMAX 70 mm film cameras for much of the filming, including the first six minutes of the film, to optimize the quality of the picture. A vehicle variation of the Batplane and Batcopter termed the "Bat", an underground prison set, and a new Batcave set were created specifically for the film. As with The Dark Knight, viral marketing campaigns began early during production. When filming concluded, Warner Bros. refocused its campaign, developing promotional websites, releasing the first six minutes of the film, screening theatrical trailers, and sending out information regarding the film's plot.

So, when I clicked in to chat with debut Amish Romance author, Christen Krumm, I had no idea what I was in for. How does a woman who has never read an Amish book get a contract for two in blind auditions? Listen in to learn how and to discover why I was sold on the book before I'd read a word! Note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you. Why Did This YA Rom-Com Author Decide to Defect to Amish? Amish fiction--tales of maidens in kapps, men in straw hats, and a life lived at a buggy's pace. Or so they say. When Christen Krumm's synopsis of On the Golden Cliffs described a fish-out-of-water story--kind of two of them in one--I knew I had to read it. Listening to her talk about the process by which she auditioned (talk about waiting until the last possible second!) only confirmed that. Christen Krumm combines a social media influencer with an Amish novelist (shh... no one is supposed to know!) and throws them together. What isn't to love? What could be better? Oh, I know... the fact that she's going to write TWO MORE BOOKS in this series. EEEP! On the Golden Cliffs by Christen Krumm One wrong post has sent influencer Lyla Taylor's social media empire crashing to her feet. To save it, she'll have to escape to rural Montana. Six weeks in a high-end spa won't hurt…except, she's not booked into a spa, but at a rustic Amish B&B. Suddenly, her roommates are raccoons, and her daily activities include hanging laundry. Thanks, but no thanks. Lyla is ready to hit delete and head back to civilization. Amishman Reuben Milner has a secret…one that could destroy his world. For now, however, he's kept his life as a novelist under wraps, focusing on providing for his family after the tragic passing of his father. Renting the dawdi house seems the right move—until the wrong woman moves in. However, she comes with ideas to help improve their B&B, and that, along with her feisty personality, is something Reuben can't ignore. Even if the elders want him to focus on joining the church and finding a wife. When going home isn't an option, Lyla decides to help the Milners spruce up their rental. It does help distract her from her problems online. The more Lyla works on the rental with Reuben, the more she wonders if returning to her former life is worth it. However, is it the simple life that Lyla's heart longs for—or a particular guarded Amishman with secrets of his own? And when those secrets are discovered, what will it cost them both? Book two in the delightful and sweet Big Sky Amish Collection. Learn more about Christen on her WEBSITE. Like to listen on the go? S. There was a time, if you'll gather round our podcast fire, when you had movie studios looking for anything with Vampires, and as for comic books... well, I guess Men in Black was an exception (we forgot to mention that in the episode so I'm mentioning it here, correction huzzah), but that's actually a good example of what we mean when saying comic books were neither hated or a priority for studios. They were... there, and easy to ignore. Why adapt a comic book when there were (gasp) original properties that could be pitched to executives for possible pick up! Maybe someone would find the next Tarantino, or even the next Usual Suspects! shrug. The point is, Vampires were a big deal in the late 90s, on the heels of Bram Stoker's Dracula, Interview with the Vampire and (on TV) Buffy. Luckily for us all, or maybe for some of us, David S Goyer stepped up to the plate and made a pitch from a comic character (via Marvel who around that time were verging on bankruptcy and only one property, Howard the Duck, was released by a major studio to that time) who fought and killed Vampires with special ass kicking skills. From what we've read, originally the comic character was white in the 70s. For the film, action star Wesley Snipes was hired and his take was to be stoic... very very very stoic. So, that could work, right? Jack and Trash-Panda Korey take on not one, or two, but *three* movies with Snipes as the titular BLADE from 1998 to 2004. Did we like them? Mostly! to varying extents! films discussed: BLADE (Directed by Stephen Norrington) (1998) BLADE II (Directed by Guillermo del Toro) (2002) BLADE: TRINITY (Directed by David s Goyer) (2004) oh and SPOILERS THROUGHOUT

The Sandman is an American fantasy drama television series based on the 1989–1996 comic book written by Neil Gaiman and published by DC Comics. The series was developed by Gaiman, David S. Goyer, and Allan Heinberg for the streaming service Netflix, and is produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television. Like the comic, The Sandman tells the story of Morpheus, the titular Sandman. The series stars Tom Sturridge as Morpheus, with Boyd Holbrook, Vivienne Acheampong, and Patton Oswalt in supporting roles. Efforts to adapt The Sandman to film began in 1991, and floundered in development hell for many years. In 2013, Goyer pitched a film adaptation of the series to Warner Bros. Goyer and Gaiman were set to produce alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who was planned to star and possibly direct. However, Gordon-Levitt exited over creative differences in 2016. Due to the prolonged development of the film, Warner Bros. shifted its focus to television. Netflix signed a deal to produce the series in June 2019, and filming lasted from October 2020 to August 2021. The Sandman premiered on August 5, 2022. It received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise going towards the casting, production design, costumes, faithfulness to its source material, visual effects, and performances, particularly those of Sturridge and David Thewlis, though some criticized its pacing and story. Nicole and Stu discuss Man of Steel, the superman reboot hastily retrofitted into the genesis of WB and DC's 'Not-MCU' franchise. We talk about the exploitative and ill-conceived use of 9/11 imagery, the bizarre strain of gruesome horror running through the film, the failure of writers Nolan and Goyer to fit The Last Son of Krypton into their 'gritty realistic' Dark Knight formula, the enigma of dumb-smart/smart-dumb guy auteur Zack Snyder, and much more! Nearly thirty years after his death, Isaac Asimov's acclaimed Foundation series—long deemed unfilmable—has been adapted for the screen. Co-created by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman for Apple TV+, season one of Foundation recently concluded with its tenth episode, and seven more seasons have been proposed (season two is already confirmed). The production itself is an impressive feat; Asimov's mythology is remarkably expansive, encompassing an entire galaxy over the course of a millennium and including a host of characters and locations. Another challenge for the writers is that while Asimov was a brilliant science fiction world-builder, his plotlines—though at times riveting—do not achieve the humane depth required for inspiring significant admiration, empathy, or repulsion towards any of the characters. Ultimately, what Goyer, Friedman, and their team have produced is not a faithful adaptation of the source material; the broad strokes of the story remain, but it has essentially been reinvented with engaging human complexities, intriguing subplots and backstories, and diversification of the characters. Throughout the premiere season of this thorough revamping (dare I say, enhancement?) of the Foundation saga, several interesting philosophical themes are explored. These include intergenerational justice (specifically, our moral obligation to people of the very distant future), the existence and nature of the soul, and our longing for a grand narrative that gives life significance and makes sense of the human condition. Like all good science fiction, Foundation goes far deeper than exciting, futuristic story settings and flashy starship battles; it offers thoughtful viewers plenty of big ideas to ponder. The few discussed here—intergenerational justice, the nature of the soul, the human need for a grand narrative of existence, and the power of myth—fit beautifully within the worldview of Christian theism, but they're deeply problematic for a materialist paradigm. This Postmodern Realities episode is a conversation with Journal author Melissa Cain Travis about her spoiler filled online-exclusive article, “Religious Robots and Other Curiosities: Exploring Philosophical Themes in Apple TV's Foundation Series.”https://www.equip.org/article/religious-robots-and-other-curiosities-exploring-philosophical-themes-in-apple-tvs-foundation-series/Please note this article will be fully accessible by the public in the future, to get early access to read it now, please see our FAQ section on Early Access to Online-Exclusive Articles by clicking here. https://www.equip.org/early-access-to-online-exclusive-articles-faqs/We'd also like to invite you to subscribe to the Journal.
