Recent comments attributed to executive recruiters handling the Sacramento, California and Palm Coast, Florida recruitments must be addressed. A Sacramento Bee article alleged that CPS HR recruiter Pamela Derby has "suggested modifying certain incentives in a potential contract, including supplemental leave and severance, to ensure the new hire does not make as much." In Florida, Strategic Government Resources (SGR) recruiter Doug Thomas advised the governing body against including a salary range in their job posting and brochure. Recruiters and recruitment firms that actively seek to undermine the pay, benefits, and contractual protections in the name of advising their clients must be put on notice that there will be consequences. And it is imperative that public sector executives across the country take individual action to communicate these concerns, as well. In this episode of our podcast series on insider risk, Catherine Marinis-Yaqub is joined by Doug Thomas, the Managing Director for the Threat Detection and Analysis Office at JP Morgan Chase. Establishing and operating an insider risk management program can often be a daunting and overwhelming experience for companies, and our speakers delve into the challenges facing insider risk programmes and how organisations can increase engagement throughout their organization, confront sensitive issues such as employee privacy, and why insider risk is, at the end of the day, a “team sport”.
Mike and James chat with Roger Chrysler, a wargamer whose family history led him to a deep dive in early Ontario history and the War of 1812. Roger tells us about his family and their involvement in the war, and we do our own deep dive into the many gaming possibilities (figures, rules, scenarios, books) that this fascinating but poorly known war offers. If you aren't itching to refight Queenston Heights or Lundy's Lane after listening to this, we don't know what's wrong with you. Also, we chat with Kevin Jacobi, one of the partners behind Six Squared Studios in St. Catherines, ON. Doug Thomas gets us ready for the new year. Listen close to his heart for what Jesus has for us in the future.
We talk about a wide range of topics from favorite 90's bands to breaking up fights.
Pastor Doug encourages us to ask God for direction. He teaches from 1 Samuel 27-30. David was in a very bad place but inquired of the Lord to find the right things to do.
This week we are joined by the one and only, Doug Thomas. We break down all the action from Bristol, the fights, the playoffs, the finishes, and much more.

Durning the pandemic many restaurants turned off their ovens, corked their wine, and closed their doors. Services like Seamless and Doordash exploded providing the vital service of connecting hungry customers with a variety of culinary delights. But many of these orders weren't from restaurants at all, but rather delivery-only businesses known as “Ghost Kitchens.” On this episode of Remote Space, host Doug Thomas chats with journalist Kristen Hawley about the rise of the Ghost Kitchen, an evolution in the restaurant business that began before the pandemic and has grown exponentially with the rise in meal delivery. The 2020 pandemic led many to discover that they weren't as tethered to a specific location as they previously thought. Realizing that they could continue to do their job from anywhere they had a laptop and reliable internet, it was easy for people to pick up their lives and become a digital nomad. But when your life is comprised of traveling as much as a digital nomad's does, it can be difficult to meet people and forge strong bonds, but that's where our guest comes in to save the day. Aline Dahmen realized she loved the nomad life but when she found that it was difficult to find and keep friends and develop relationships, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She developed Nomad Soulmates, an online community specifically geared for those like her who were interested in finding friends and romantic partners throughout their travels. Have you noticed an ever-increasing cacophony of barks and meows in your neighborhood since the pandemic began? Well you're certainly not alone. Since the pandemic brought the majority of America's workforce inside their homes, people who previously were apprehensive about getting a pet only to leave it home alone for 8-10 hours a day figured that now is the perfect time to get that furry friend they've always wanted. On this episode of Remote Space, host Doug Thomas sits down with Corey Childs and Kerri Tenniswood, two members of PAWS, an animal shelter based in Lynwood Washington, to talk about the pandemic pet adoption surge. Band It About - Proudly Supporting Live Music "Podcast Series"
Preview of S2 E32 Andrew Griffiths, author of "Progressive Rock Drumming", Business Owner/ Manager 'Frets & Sticks Music co' Andy joins me in The Engine Room this week to chat about his career. This is a preview of one of Andy's many stories that he tells during his interview. This is part of his memorable gig stories, when he explains how the Adelaide band "The Dagoes" broke up during their gig at "The Tivoli Hotel." The Full Episode will be available to listen to on Saturday 12th of June. Please Follow the BAND IT ABOUT - podcast series so that you don't miss the next episode. Andy has over 40 years experience in performing, recording and songwriting throughout Australia, having spent 7 years in Sydney and Melbourne as part of his Professional playing career. His first Adelaide band was the very first Punk/New Wave band in Adelaide "Black Chrome", Simon Stretton - vocals, guitar, Simon Dillon - bass, Andrew Griffiths - drums. Alan Griffiths, younger brother of Andrew, joined the band for the second half of 1977 as the vocalist, this enabled Simon Stretton to concentrate fully on playing guitar. Simon then played guitar and sang through the rest of Black Chrome's existence. The band released a single in 1978 Australia's God/We Are Tomorrow. The Dagoes were a rock band from Adelaide that was the catalyst in 1979 for Doug Thomas to create Greasy Pop Records, Andy was their drummer for one of the bands lineups, and this preview explains how that band broke up. Andrew Griffiths, is also the internationally recognized author of "Progressive Rock Drumming", which is a comprehensive, lesson by lesson guide covering all aspects of playing drums in a group. Studies on: solos, rolls, fills, and syncopation. Within the three main sections of the book, a lesson by lesson structure has been used to give a clear and carefully graded method of study. Music theory is gradually introduced to help the player understand the material being presented and enable them to create their own rhythms and beats. Andy is the owner, manager, and Drum Teacher of 'Frets and Stix Music', which was established in 1992, Andy is supported in the shop by his wife Danielle Griffiths and Zak Taylor. The shop is situated south of Adelaide in Reynella, and is dedicated to serving the southern suburbs with high quality service and advice when looking to purchase your first musical instrument, and has built a reputation for providing great after sales service for over 28 years. https://www.fretsandstix.com.au/ email andy@fretsandstix.com.au Apple Podcasts Google Podcasts Spotify https://ratethispodcast.com/banditabout https://www.podpage.com/band-it-about-podcast-series/ https://www.buymeacoffee.com/BandIt https://www.instagram.com/banditaboutpodcastseries/ #MusicInterviews #Drummers #Adelaide --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dianne-spillane/message
When offices began working remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic, teams had to work extra hard to figure out ways to communicate effectively when every team member was siloed in their respective homes. We all have our own ideas about what works and what doesn't in the new digital workspace. Online meetings, video chats, no water cooler talk have various advocates and detractors. And some have learned to love the “new normal.” To quantify these ideas, we can turn to Andy Goodman of The Goodman Center who conducted a survey of over four thousand people to get a more accurate sense of what works, what doesn’t, and most importantly, how to keep people engaged in the digital workspace. On today's episode of Remote Space, host Doug Thomas speaks with Andy Goodman about his findings in the survey titled, Unmuted: What Works, What Doesn't, and How We Can All Do Better When Working Online. Over the past year as the global workforce largely shifted to working remotely, our work-life balance was thrown for a loop. But one silver lining of the complications of working from home 24/7 and all the confusion and uncertainty caused by the pandemic is that it has led to a spotlight on both our mental health and issues of accessibility. On today's episode, Doug speaks with Megan Lawrence, Microsoft's Accessibility Evangelist who spends her days working to ensure that everybody has the tools they need to excel at their jobs. Doug and Megan speak about how there's been a paradigm shift in how those in the workforce discuss their mental health and ways that the workplace is evolving to become more accommodating, and the upcoming Ability Summit all are welcomed to. Since the Coronavirus pandemic began, most of us have transitioned to working remotely. It didn’t take long for some people to see some of the obvious benefits of ditching the traditional office setup in exchange for the remote work model, and many of those people have since realized they don't need to go back to the way it was. And then there are people like Lydia Lee, founder of Screw the Cubicle, who has been practicing nomadic employment long before the quarantine popped up on anyone's radar. On today's episode of Remote Space, Doug Thomas speaks with Lydia Lee about her transition from a six-figure corporate job to starting a career helping people to find meaning in their work and empowering them to find purpose while also making a profit. What is the future of customer service in the remote landscape?Try and imagine simulating the experience of interacting with a customer in-person while working remote. Who didn’t dread the commute to work? Getting dressed, scarfing down breakfast, the traffic, the crowds, the anxiety. And that’s on a good day. In a different world where we can go to work in our pajamas and work entirely from home, a lot of us are actually missing the commute to work. In this episode of Remote Space, host Doug Thomas chats with Natalie Singer-Velush & Lukas Velush, both former reporters and who now work as a Senior Marketing Communications Manager and a Content Program Manager at Microsoft. As two busy parents with careers in tech, Natalie and Lukas help remind us that commuting was not all that bad. In reflecting on how they used their travel time to chat, plan family events or coordinate logistics, travel time created a buffer of personal time before officially starting their workday. In addition, Natalie chats about how recent data around commute time is encouraging technology to focus in on wellbeing and productivity. Listen in and find out how a dreaded daily occurrence has now become a reminisced pastime.
