Welcome to Superhumanize, where we explore the wisdom and traditions that connect us to our roots, our purpose, and the universe itself. Today, we have the incredible honor of hosting Kumu Ramsay Taum, a revered cultural practitioner and spiritual leader whose work in integrating Native Hawaiian values into modern contexts is truly evolutionary.Kumu Ramsay is a living bridge between the ancient and the modern. Trained and mentored by some of the most respected Hawaiian elders, he is a master of several Native Hawaiian practices, including Hoʻoponopono, a powerful process of reconciliation and healing; Lomi haha, an art of body alignment and healing; and Kaihewalu Lua, the formidable Hawaiian martial art. His journey has been deeply influenced by the belief that true warriors must first be healers—a philosophy that stands in stark contrast to today's often misunderstood notions of strength and masculinity.Imagine a man who, with nothing more than a calm smile and subtle movements, can disarm larger, highly trained opponents—because for Kumu Ramsay, the essence of combat is not in the violence but in the preservation of peace and balance. In our conversation today, we will explore not just the techniques, but the profound spiritual and ethical foundations that guide these practices.Kumu Ramsay's contributions go far beyond personal mastery. As the founder and president of the Life Enhancement Institute of the Pacific, he has been a transformational leader, advocating for the integration of cultural and place-based values into business and community models. His approach is a call to honor our interconnectedness and to operate from a place of respect, reciprocity, and sustainability—a message that is critically needed in our world today.Today, we'll talk about his personal journey, about what it means to be a true warrior, and how ancient Hawaiian principles can guide us toward a more balanced, respectful, and connected way of living.Get ready to be inspired by Kumu Ramsay, where the wisdom of the past meets the possibilities of the future.Episode highlights:00:24 Meet Kumu Ramsay Taun03:49 The Essence of Aloha09:53 The Concept of Common Ground16:40 Kumu Ramsay's Background and Training24:24 A Warrior's Path31:19 Martial Arts Demonstration and Philosophy32:47 The Essence of Lua: Art and Science34:25 Inner Peace and Warrior Spirit36:24 Protection and Confrontation38:54 Healing and Responsibility42:54 Ho'oponopono: Misconceptions and Depth51:53 Creating Peace from Within56:16 Upcoming Events and OfferingsResources mentioned:Makali'i Rising / Immersion with Kumu RamsayKumu's websiteGuest's social handles:FacebookInstagramP.S. EP114: Summer weight loss and the Warrior Spirit Challenge In this episode of the Weight Loss Warrior podcast, I dive into some key strategies to help you stay on track with your weight loss goals during the summer. I also introduce an exciting new initiative: the Warrior Spirit Challenge. This episode is packed with practical advice, reflections on my first year as a coach, and an invitation to join a free coaching challenge designed to reset and refocus your weight loss journey. Summer often brings a flurry of social events, holidays, and potential disruptions to your weight loss journey. Many of us set weight loss goals with summer in mind, aiming to look and feel our best for vacations, weddings, and beach outings. However, it's common to face challenges during this time, from holiday indulgences to a lack of routine. I shared personal insights and strategies for navigating these summer challenges without abandoning your goals. It's important to recognise that even if you haven't reached your desired weight or if you've indulged during a holiday, it doesn't mean your journey is over. Instead, it's about maintaining balance and finding ways to enjoy the season while staying on track. A significant part of this episode focused on the concept of Outcome, Processes, and Actions (OPA). This three-step structure helps you create and set realistic goals. Next, I introduced the Warrior Spirit Challenge, an exciting new initiative designed to help listeners get back on track with their weight loss journey. This five-day challenge offers free, one-on-one coaching sessions with me. It's an opportunity to reset, refocus, and address any obstacles or limiting beliefs that might be holding you back. And the willingness to do that is what makes them a leader. And for the main course: we're talking the warrior spirit for a Christian, and what it means to be active, not passive in this faith journey.

Original airdate: February 8, 2022 A spiritual journey describes the process of a person embarking on a quest to deepen their knowledge, understanding and wisdom about themselves, the world and a higher power. For most of us, spiritual awakening is brought about by life-changing events or meeting mentors who change the way we think. While every journey is unique, they all share certain commonalities. My guest, Dan Millman, brings those to the forefront in his new memoir, “Peaceful Heart, Warrior Spirit.” Dan Millman teaches “the peaceful warrior's way” in the United States and around the world. Author of eighteen books published in twenty-nine languages, Millman is a former world-champion athlete, university coach, martial arts instructor, and college professor. His bestseller “Way of the Peaceful Warrior” was adapted to a feature film starring Nick Nolte. Dan shares the lessons he learned from his evolution from childhood dreamer to world-class athlete over a span of two decades. He describes an approach to living with a peaceful heart and a warrior's spirit, an open path that's accessible to anyone who is prepared to move to the next stage of their awakening.

What would you do if your thoughts keep you awake and restless at night? In the case of today's episode guest, he wrote down his words… and the result? A brand new book that was just launched during the beginning of September that answers a far more profound and ennobling question: what does it truly mean to be a warrior, both in and out of the uniform? Retired Marine Corps Veteran Jayson Downing had this passion and desire to do his part on contributing on how to make a situation better and see what actually he could do to help. He shared the reason and inspiration behind his book, Reawakening the Warrior Spirit: Exploring What it Means to be a Warrior in the Modern West that engages and explores some of the most challenging topics of the day from the unique perspective of the military warrior mindset. Jayson hopes that the people who will read the book can truly learn from it and get encouraged to do a lot more than they are currently doing and examine their lives, self and modern society.

Everywhere you look, people are asking the same question, “What the heck is happening in this crazy world we live in?” Depression and suicide are both on a rise, outrage has replaced reasoned discourse, victimhood is now a virtue, and cynicism in more the norm, instead of the exception. Enter in Marine Corps veteran Captain Jayson Downing who is on a mission to “Reawaken the warrior spirit and what it means to be a warrior in the modern west today.” Drawing on his own experiences in military training and the crucible of combat deployments, Jayson breaks down not only what exactly is going on in the modern West, more importantly, he addresses what we can do about it.   We are blessed to have Jayson on the IMPACT SHOW today. Specifically, here are some of the things we cover on this important topic that needs to be heard: A few of Jayson's top lessons that he learned as a Marine and how he uses them now in the civilian world. Why the transition from the military to the civilian world is often frightening and scary.   Why Jayson wrote his book (that just came out September 5th). Who this book is for and what's the mission behind the book. What is the Warrior Spirit…and where did it go? How to “Embrace life with strength & power” when you're getting your tail whopped.  You talk about “Pray for Peace…Prepare for War.” Talk more about that… What would be your recommendations be for young men & women today who not only want and need to survive, but want to lead and thrive in a changed world? Why I love the quote, “bleed more in training and die less in war.” How to be a modern day Warrior in the times we live in now. Jayson's big hope with this book and why everyone needs to read it and pass it on to a friend or family member.   I'm really proud of Jayson Downing. Not only is he a new author, he completed my “God-Sized Dreams” program a year ago and committed to writing and publishing this book. Additionally, he's about to become a first-time Dad in just a matter of days with his wife Dr. Carleigh Golightly.    If you would like to purchase his book, you can do so on Amazon or visit his website at www.TheWarriorJournal.com.
