The couple remains in contact with many of the moms and children they have saved and cherishes a beautiful photo album that serves as a testament to what happens when we encourage the lost to choose life, choose Jesus. In the spring of 2017 we headed to Las Vegas or as Bevelyn called it, "Mr. Las Vegas" because "Vegas is so rough it has to be a man!"  Edmee really had it in her heart to go to Planned Parenthood and speak with women about abortion, and unfortunately, Bevelyn has had three abortions and knows firsthand the struggles and the pain, so we googled the closest Planned Parenthood location and drove there. When we arrived, the parking lot was empty, but we knew it was open, so we just sat in the car, praying and seeking direction from the Holy Spirit— Eventually, a car pulled up and three people got out of the car; an older couple and a young girl, who looked to be no more than sixteen. We figured the couple was taking the girl to get an abortion. So a few minutes after they went into Planned Parenthood, we followed them. Bevelyn approached them with love and started a conversation with the couple and then asked them why the girl was there. When they didn't want to disclose any information Bevelyn just looked at the girl and said, “Don't do it! Don't do it! You'll regret it the rest of your life. This is not a good decision. God is a Provider, and He will make a way for you to provide for you and your baby. Do not kill your baby. Do not murder your child.” The man stood up and started to raise hell, shouting at Bevelyn to mind her business, and yelling and saying that it was “a safe procedure and that it was just clump of cells, and we're getting it early on. You have no right to say these things!”...

In the spring of 2016, we spent a memorable and spirit-filled week in Munich Germany where we learned that there's always more going on beneath the surface, and things aren't always what they appear to be. We, Bevelyn, Edmee and Jessica, were thrilled to go to Germany for the first time. When we originally booked our trip, we made a reservation and paid for a hotel in Munich, but about two weeks before we left for Germany, our friend Manu who lives in Munich with her son Benny offered to host us! So in Manu, we had both home and tour guide. A double blessing! We were looking forward to spending quality time with our friend, whom we'd met the previous year on our ministry trip to New Orleans. Manu picked us up from the airport, and as we were driving around getting our first glimpse of Munich, we were immediately struck by how clean and tidy the city was! It was practically spotless. We wondered where we could minister in a town that looked as if it had itself together! But Manu knew exactly where to take us, and drove us to a refugee camp. Germany has become the temporary home to many Syrian and Nigerian refugees among other nations.

Strong emotions often surface with a discussion of this topic. That passion points to our critical need to understand the truth regarding whether or not God has predetermined who will go to heaven and who will go to hell. Also, the question of whether or not God has planned out each person’s life affects us. Does God have a plan for your life? Does a blueprint exist for your future? Did God predetermine whether or not you would get married, and to whom? Did God plan whether you would be wealthy or poor, happy or sad? If God does plan your life, does He do so in minute detail or in general themes? If God has a plan for your life, are you able to alter that plan? This topic directly influences people concerning how they live their lives. As Christians, we must seek God to accurately portray the LORD to others. For any misrepresentation of God will dishonor Him and perhaps bring harm to those misled. For several decades, Congress has considered numerous bills to prohibit employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. But as noted above, although Congress has come close, it has not yet shouldered a bill over the legislative finish line. In the face of the unsuccessful legislative efforts (so far) to prohibit sexual orientation discrimination, judges may not rewrite the law simply because of their own policy views. Judges may not update the law merely because they think that Congress does not have the votes or the fortitude. Judges may not predictively amend the law just because they believe that Congress is likely to do it soon anyway. If judges could rewrite laws based on their own policy views, or based on their own assessments of likely future legislative action, the critical distinction between legislative authority and judicial authority that undergirds the Constitution’s separation of powers would collapse, thereby threatening the impartial rule of law and individual liberty. As James Madison stated: “Were the power of judging joined with the legislative, the life and liberty of the subject would be exposed to arbitrary control, for the judge would then be the legislator.” The Federalist No. 47, at 326 (citing Montesquieu). If judges could, for example, rewrite or update securities laws or healthcare laws or gun laws or environmental laws simply based on their own policy views, the Judiciary would become a democratically illegitimate super-legislature—unelected, and hijacking the important policy decisions reserved by the Constitution to the people’s elected representatives.

We saw Circus Trees at The Sinclair in Cambridge when we were there to celebrate The Record Co. and their upcoming new space in Boston. Three young women came on the stage in front of a full house. And once they began playing, everyone paid attention. They blew us away. Finola, 15, Giuliana, 17 and Edmee, also known as Egg, 13, are sisters from Marlborough, MA. And they play sad music. We love sad music. And by the time they finished their set we had already gone over to Robert McCarthy - their manager/dad and founder of Five By Two Records - and he kindly gave us some vinyl of their debut album Sakura. Giving us free vinyl is a sure way to get on ATB, but in their case they did not need to bribe their way on. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversation with Egg, Finola and Giuliana and talked influences, writing, rehearsing and how three sisters can get along, collaborate and create intelligent, amazingly sad, but gut-wrenchingly beautiful and emotional rock music in a band that is garnering a lot of attention in Boston.

Listen in as Edmee and Bevelyn talk about their adventures spreading the Gospel in Denver in July of 2017: from ministering to a former pastor who had fallen into despair and alcohol following the death of his first wife, and his new family which was in the throes of domestic abuse; to standing up righteously against Planned Parenthood alongside a couple who have spent the last twenty years of their lives rescuing women from abortion. The couple remains in contact with many of the moms and children they have saved and cherishes a beautiful photo album that serves as a testament to what happens when we encourage the lost to choose life, choose Jesus. In a society in which evil is seen as good; and good is seen as evil, we are grateful to the Holy Spirit for continuing to reveal the truth of Jesus to us so that we can go out and preach the Good News that Jesus LOVES and He saves.

In the spring of 2017 we—Edmee, Jessica, and Bevelyn— headed to Las Vegas, (or as Bevelyn called it, Mr. Las Vegas because Vegas is so rough it has to be a man)! Edmee really had it in her heart to go to Planned Parenthood and speak with women about abortion, and unfortunately, Bevelyn has had three abortions and knows firsthand the struggles and the pain, so we googled the closest Planned Parenthood location and drove there. When we arrived, the parking lot was empty, but we knew it was open, so we just sat in the car, praying and seeking direction from the Holy Spirit—telling Him that we just wanted to stop at least one abortion that day; we wanted to speak to at least one woman. Eventually, a car pulled up and three people got out of the car; an older couple and a young girl, who looked to be no more than sixteen. The couple appeared to be Caucasian, and she looked Hispanic. We figured the couple was taking the girl to get an abortion. So a few minutes after they went into Planned Parenthood, we followed them. Bevelyn approached them with love and started a conversation with the couple and then asked them why the girl was there. When they didn’t want to disclose any information, Bevelyn just looked at the girl and said, “Don’t do it! Don’t do it! You’ll regret it the rest of your life. This is not a good decision. God is a Provider, and He will make a way for you to provide for you and your baby. Do not kill your baby. Do not murder your child.” The man stood up and started to raise hell, shouting at Bevelyn to mind her business, and yelling and saying that it was “a safe procedure and that it was just clump of cells, and we’re getting it early on. In the spring of 2016, we spent a memorable and spirit-filled week in Munich Germany where we learned that there’s always more going on beneath the surface, and things aren’t always what they appear to be. We, Bevelyn, Edmee and Jessica, were thrilled to go to Germany for the first time. When we originally booked our trip, we made a reservation and paid for a hotel in Munich, but about two weeks before we left for Germany, our friend Manu who lives in Munich with her son Benny offered to host us! So in Manu, we had both home and tour guide. A double blessing! We were looking forward to spending quality time with our friend, whom we’d met the previous year on our ministry trip to New Orleans… Manu picked us up from the airport, and as we were driving around getting our first glimpse of Munich, we were immediately struck by how clean and tidy the city was! It was practically spotless. We wondered where we could minister in a town that looked as if it had itself together! But Manu knew exactly where to take us, and drove us to a refugee camp. Germany has become the temporary home to many Syrian and Nigerian refugees among other nations. And indeed from the looks of it, the living conditions in which the refugees found themselves were far superior to what many had in their home countries. And the refugee housing was much, much better than the refugee camps we’d visited in France where the conditions were precarious. LEARN MORE
