What's my definition of fear? False Evidence Appearing Real. -Anna Sabatino aka “Anna Sab” Meet Anna Sabatino, wife, mother, life coach, driving instructor, entrepreneur, and all-around super-woman. It was Anna's husband who nominated her as a guest on the show and she did not disappoint! In this interview, we learn all about the long and winding road of life. For Anna, the twists and turns are there to help us find our purpose. The daughter of Italian immigrants, Anna grew up in a strict but faith-filled, loving home in Brighton, Massachusetts. At only 20, she began working on the administrative side of a hugely successful sporting goods agency that represented New Balance Athletic shoes. Thirty years later, her boss retired and closed the business, leaving Anna at a crossroads, so she put on her running shoes and started training for the New York and Boston marathons. She also signed up for an Empowerment Workshop that ignited a new passion: helping teenagers find their way. Armed with her certification as an Empowerment Life Coach, she launched a coaching practice aimed at teens…and sadly, no one came. Frustrated and feeling a little bit lost, she went for a run…and ran into an old friend who said: “Get certified as a driving instructor. Most of your clients will be teenagers anyway.” Today, Anna is the owner of her own driving school, www.csdriving.com, and the CS stands for common sense. Whether she's in the car or the classroom with her students, whom she proudly calls her “lovelies,”Anna is a guiding light when they need it the most. Says Anna: “ Most teens are terrified to drive. I shift the way they think from negative to positive and give them confidence. I tell them fear is really false evidence appearing real.” What's next for Anna? A new book called Just Drive: Life Lessons from Behind the Wheel. For 22 minutes, bound to keep your foot on the gas, and your eye on the horizon, just hit that download button. #teens #lifecoach #drivinglessons #drive
Today's episode is a recording of a talk Jeremy gave at a church in Atlanta at a Men's Empowerment Workshop. You can find the second part of this talk (on Culture) on the 1000 Houses Podcast. Jeremy breaks down the importance of seeing your role as a father as a coach (not a babysitter). He gives examples of how to train your children, tools to lead and coach well (including the family meeting), and then gives practical exercises you can use to figure out your own family's mission and values so that you can tell whether you're "winning". Tobi Jo Greene's own experiences as a girl growing up in Ojai inspired her to start the Girls Empowerment Workshop nearly 20 years ago. Now expanded to the Empowerment Workshop, teaching girls, and now all youth, skills to help them navigate adolescence and other crisis moments in their lives in a social-media saturated era of identity crisis and confusion. The goal is to help children learn a deep sense of self-worth, of respecting differences, and communicating effectively. Since Greene began the program, thousands of youth have been enabled and now the program has been adopted across Ventura County and beyond. She's been honored with the Dr. Robert Skankey Humanitarian Award for her work. We talked about the lessons she's learned along the way, first as a young girl growing up in Ojai, as a mother and now grandmother, plus exciting new projects on the horizon. We talked about the evolving pressures on young people today. We did not talk about Shintoism, hobo symbology or Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Charlene Madden has admittedly spent most of her life living in a state of darkness. After experiencing over 9 years of sexualized trauma at the hands of her grandfather, a decade of domestic violence, and 3+ decades of mental illness and suicidal ideology, she was just 2 days away from taking her life when she attended a workshop where everything changed. She was able to begin the healing process by rewriting her thought patterns and found her Purpose by turning her Mess into a Message of Hope, Evolution, and Transformation that she now shares with people all over the world. Charlene Madden is an author, speaker, Reiki Practitioner and creator of the Ignite Your Life Women's Empowerment Workshop. Her most important roles though are loving wife, & proud mom of 3 amazing children, (as well as being a fur-baby mom to 3 dogs, a cat and 5 pygmy goats). Charlene is a passionate advocate to ending the stigma for those who suffer from Mental Illness and have experienced Childhood Sexualized Trauma which she has experienced in her own life, and is working on creating a facility that will bring together rescued animals and trauma victims. 3 top tips for my audience: 1. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. Understanding what we can avoid in life and what we can't 2. Sometimes you have to sit in the dark, but you don't have to stay there 3. You, and you alone are Responsible for where you are today. Self-responsibility is the first step to recovery and creating the life you desire. This episode is a replay of the Women's Empowerment Workshop which was held in March during Women's History Month. The discussion focused on how women should use all the resources available to them to shorten their job search or advance their career. Two resources are discussed: utilizing the services of a career strategist and a paid recruiter. My guests are Stacey Weissbock of JobssNow, and Ashlie Moseley of Beacon Hill Staffing. To watch the replay of this workshop, please visit our YouTube Channel: https://youtu.be/Xx4EQ0D8ta4 Important points from the discussion - from Stacey and Ashlie: - Advice to help job seekers in this challenging job market o Consistency matters, don't be inconsistent in your outreach or relationship building, research the company, practicing your messaging – consistency is he first step to success. o Build a schedule create consistent relationships and outreach, research, do the work; make a spreadsheet if that helps. - Virtual interviewing tip o Download all the different types of software: WebEx, Teams, Zoom and GoToMeeting prior to your interview because you don't know what they will be using and you want to be prepared. - Working with recruiters o There are always job postings (open requisitions) on their website o If there is not the right chemistry with one recruiter you can always request another one - Benefits of working with recruiters o Recruiters have strong relationships with clients (hiring companies). o Access to the hidden job market (i.e., companies sometimes have positions that are not posted) o They can advocate for you with the company - Prior to the pandemic, it was a “candidate's world” meaning that there were more jobs than candidates; now it is flipped – there are great candidates in the labor market but not enough jobs. - Hot industries: human resources, legal, finance and pharmaceuticals - Unemployment rate in finance is below 3%; positions in accounting can range from accounts payable/receivable all the way to CFO; you do not always need a CPA to work in accounting. - Onboarding/starting a new position o Majority of onboarding is remote (i.e., offer letter, identification) o When you start new job virtually, it is up to the company to get you what you need to be successful o Let recruiter know if you need any equipment; and they will help you get it. - Contract work o Be open to working on contract for a while, employers like to see that you are working o Contract work can also sharpen your skills or help you learn new ones; shows you are still networking and staying in the game. o Contract work could also turn into a permanent position. On today’s episode of Feminine Roadmap guest Rich Kohler is asking women- “Got physical empowerment?” Rich, a leading physical empowerment coach and 6th degree black belt in karate created a program for women called “Hands Off Lady Women’s Empowerment Workshop”. He shares how his own personal journey as a teen finding karate in order to gain confidence later became the foundation for him to build a powerful program to help women and children to find their own confidence. Rich believes that using your body through his physical empowerment workshops actually helps women build the tools they need emotionally to be able to set boundaries and stand up for themselves. Once women realize they can assert themselves on their own behalf then he challenges them to create a kick-butt life in every area of their lives no matter their age, experience or situation because success does not discriminate. Rich shares some powerful insights into how women nonverbally communicate whether or not they have healthy boundaries, how to begin to recognize when their boundaries are being violated and how to respectfully and firmly assert themselves. This is a must listen episode for every woman so grab a cuppa something wonderful and a friend, get empowerment together! www.feminineroadmap.com/episode189/
