Today I'm talking to Erin Washington, host of the wildly popular podcast, Squats & Margaritas. Erin's upcoming book, From Pain to Purpose: Finding Meaning in The Mess, is a second edition of her previously released book, Squats & Margaritas. In this new edition, Erin details her journey through twenty years of an eating disorder and finding body peace and acceptance at the age of 38 and finding her life's purpose during the global pandemic. Squats & Margaritas was written when Erin felt compelled to share a new method of working out that produced proper results. For years, Erin exercised rigorously and deprived herself of many foods and activities. It wasn't until she found balance that she achieved both physical and mental wellbeing. At the time of releasing the first edition, Erin believed she was writing from her highest form of self. And then the global pandemic hit and her purpose shifted immensely. Erin was called to start weekly Instagram live conversations early on in the pandemic and was having real conversations with her followers about our daily struggles, including being in lockdown with young children, how hard it was to maintain a workout or a schedule, and much more. These conversations led Erin to her weekly podcast, Squats & Margaritas, conversations to help women feel seen and inspired to find their own purpose. I'm really looking forward to speaking with Erin today as her story is very relatable to many of you. Erin will be talking about her eating disorder recovery journey and particularly how she changed her relationship with exercise and working out. Erin is going to speak about finding purpose in life and how anyone can do this. Erin has founded the Blue Butterflies Foundation which empowers teenage girls around body image and self-worth issues. She is going to share her best body image tips and some wisdom for mums raising daughters. I hope that you enjoy the conversation.
