The Midlife Makeover Show - Divorce, Empty Nest, Retirement, Financial Freedom, Midlife Crisis, Healthy Habits

What if the key to better relationships starts with how you treat yourself? In this soul-stirring episode, Wendy sits down with the brilliant Monica Berg—international speaker, Kabbalistic teacher, and author of Rethink Love, Fear is Not an Option, and The Gift of Being Different—to dive into the transformational concept of self-parenting. From healing childhood wounds to challenging limiting beliefs, Monica shares her personal journey of overcoming anorexia, perfectionism, and shame to become a “change junkie” who now helps others reclaim their inner light.   Together, Wendy and Monica explore how to distinguish compromise from sacrifice, why purpose isn't always a job title, and how taking radical responsibility can lead to spiritual freedom. Plus, you'll learn why sharing love might just be the most selfish (and soul-fueling) thing you can do.

171: How to Talk to Your Children About Empathy, Why It's Important & When to Do It

Chick Chat: The Baby Chick Podcast

Empathy is one of the most powerful skills we can teach our children — but it can feel like such a big, important topic. You might wonder, "Where do we start?" In today's fast-paced, often self-focused world, raising empathetic kids takes intention, awareness, and ongoing conversation. It's something that I find incredibly important, so that's why in this episode of Chick Chat, I sit down with Monica Berg to explore how parents can begin introducing and nurturing empathy in their children from a young age. Monica shares her wisdom on age-appropriate strategies, the impact empathy has on relationships, and how to model it through our own daily actions. Who is Monica Berg? Monica Berg is an international speaker, spiritual thought leader, bestselling author (Fear is Not an Option, Rethink Love, and The Gift of Being Different), and co-host of the Spiritually Hungry podcast. A self-proclaimed “Change Junkie,” Monica is a fresh voice that channels her many years of kabbalistic study along with personal life experiences. Monica shows individuals how to create a life that not only feels like it's working but, most importantly, a life in which they are living and loving as the powerful, fulfilled person they've always wanted to be. What Did We Discuss? In this episode, I chat with Monica about empathy in children, why it's important, and when to introduce the concept. Here are several of the questions that we covered in our conversation: How did you become passionate about spirituality?  How would you define empathy?  How should we talk about empathy and introduce the concept of it to our children? Are there age-appropriate strategies that you recommend?  How can developing empathy at a young age influence a child's future relationships and social interactions? How can parents create a safe space for children to express their emotions and develop empathy? What are some strategies parents can use at home to encourage their children to talk about their feelings?  How should parents approach the topic of empathy with children who may struggle to understand others' feelings? What long-term benefits do you see in children who grow up with a strong sense of empathy? What's one piece of advice you would offer to parents who are ready to teach their child(ren) about empathy? As you know, teaching empathy isn't a one-time conversation. It's a lifelong practice that starts at home. And, as Monica reminded us, creating a safe, emotionally rich environment where children feel seen and heard is key to helping them grow into compassionate, self-aware adults. Whether your child is a toddler just beginning to understand feelings or a tween navigating friendships, it's never too early — or too late — to nurture empathy in our children. I hope this episode inspires you to lead with love, listen more deeply, and model the kind of empathy we all want to see more of in the world. How good are you at telling the difference between a fling and the real thing? In this episode of This Is Woman's Work, we're diving deep into relationship red flags and how to spot them early to avoid future heartache. Our guest, Monica Berg, author of Fear Is Not an Option, Rethink Love, and The Gift of Being Different, brings her unique insights to the conversation. Monica co-hosts the Spiritually Hungry Podcast and serves as Co-Director & Chief Communications Officer for Kabbalah Centre International. Known for her authenticity and fearless approach, she encourages us to recognize our extraordinary potential while navigating the complexities of relationships with compassion and clarity. Let's be honest: even the best relationships have rough patches. They require courage, honesty, and a lot of self-awareness. The key is paying attention to what people show you consistently—it's usually more telling than what they say. Ignoring red flags only invites future heartache. The relationships we choose, whether romantic or platonic, are powerful reflections of the life we're building. If your relationship is one where both people are winning, keep putting in the work, keep communicating, and keep choosing each other. And if it's not? You know what needs to be done—move on. There are three types of fear: healthy fear, real fear, and illogical fear. 99% of our fears are illogical - this is the type of fear we need to eradicate because it keeps us small.  The only thing that keeps you from seeing all the opportunities in front of you is fear. If you're able to give a name to your fear, then it's not as scary as you think.  You will forever be changed by a life quake no matter how big or small it is.   HEAL SQUAD SOCIALS IG: https://www.instagram.com/healsquad/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@healsquadxmaria HEAL SQUAD RESOURCES: Heal Squad Website: https://www.healsquad.com/ Maria Menounos Website: https://www.mariamenounos.com My Curated Macy's Page: Shop my Macy's Wishlist OUAI: https://theouai.com/ use promo code: HEALSQUAD for 15% off Wonderful Pistachios: http://www.wonderfulpistachios.com/ Sign up for Marie Forleo's B-School: https://marieforleobschool.com/enroll/?partner=healsquadxmaria&banner=fec190fd Learn More About Monica Berg Monica Berg's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/monicarberg74/?hl=en Monica Berg's Website: https://rethinklife.today/ ABOUT MARIA MENOUNOS: Emmy Award-winning journalist, TV personality, actress, 2x NYT best-selling author, former pro-wrestler and brain tumor survivor, Maria Menounos' passion is to see others heal and to get better in all areas of life. Here comes Sword 5 and it's a deep one... Shame. The heaviness of Shame lies in the fact that it is truly insidious & creates fear in us at a cellular level. The fear that there is something inherently wrong with us, that we are bad, and that it's only a matter of time before everyone finds out. Shame can also be spurned from things that happen to us which feel too terrible and unacceptable that we can never let anyone know. We keep them buried deep inside with the resulting shame of these experiences eating us up. It's unpleasant and devastating & it's also all completely unnecessary as we are always completely unconditionally loved and safe just as we are.  On this Identify & Heal solo episode I offer some insight into how shame can first be created within us and then take over our ability to feel free & safe in who we are. I distinguish between embarrassment & shame, offer resources on identifying and releasing shame, & provide encouragement that just because the pain and belief is deep it doesn't mean we can't reclaim our unconditional, perfect selves and thrive.  Rethink Love: 3 Steps to Being the One, Attracting the One, and Becoming One by Monica Berg, http://tinyurl.com/2p8yb2hyACA Laundry List: https://adultchildren.org/literature/laundry-list/Conscious Recovery: https://consciousrecovery.com/Join the Women Waken Community on Instagram Here: https://tinyurl.com/522duz2c Feel free to reach out to me to see how we can work together and send your questions, feedback, and requests for future solo episodes here: Whitney Walker, LMFTLicense # 107082www.WomenWaken.comhttps://www.psychologytoday.com/profi...Whitney@WomenWaken.comIG: @WomenwakenYoutube: @womenwaken

Everyone experiences mental health challenges. Yet, wading through these difficult times can feel isolating or as if there is something wrong with you. The truth is, you're not alone; many people struggle in the exact same way. In this mini episode of Spiritually Hungry, Monica and Michael lift the shame of mental health issues and discuss how to reframe your assumptions in order to overcome shame and hopelessness.“I think we need to embrace a messy life. And a messy life means there's no room for perfection. That word is not even in your lexicon. That means each day you can have a plan—if it happens, great. If it doesn't, then just embrace it. It's probably going to be better than the one you had anticipated. There's true freedom and joy in being the creator of your life.” – Monica Berg

It's not uncommon to say yes to things without really considering whether it is aligned with your priorities. Saying no can leave us feeling guilty, like we've let others down. But if we don't learn how to say no to others, we won't have the time, energy, or space to say yes to ourselves. In this mini episode of Spiritually Hungry, Monica and Michael discuss how to get clear on your boundaries, so you can spend more time on the people and things that really matter.“We only have so much time on this earth; it's impossible to do all the things that interest you. Pick the ones that interest you the most in order to spend time with the people you love the most, including yourself. That's the hard part: that balance.” – Monica Berg
