Stu opens with Jesus' words: "Do not store up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy, but store up for yourselves treasure in heaven." Where are you building your treasure? Do you find yourself caught by this world's sparkly things—career, success, money? The reality is one day someone else will be living in your house, driving your car, spending your savings.He shares a story about David Stonestreet who jokingly said, "You just stole my treasure!" when Stu encouraged him. David referenced Matthew 6—if you get the encouragement of men on earth, you've had your payment in full. That conversation has oriented Stu's life for years.Stu describes two kinds of heavenly treasure: wealth you enjoy now (people surrounding you at church, recent acquisitions) and "Kingdom superannuation" (people you won't see again until heaven—like his friend Fiona who'll come running saying "We did it!"). When you invest in another person's life, you are building treasure in heaven.Nahum 1:15 says, "Look there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace." Beautiful feet run because they're excited the enemy has been defeated. The big enemy, death, has been defeated. God has defeated our enemy. So get busy building treasure in heaven.Nahum 2 describes Nineveh's siege. God mocks them: "Guard the fortress, brace yourselves. Have a go, get all your troops out because I'm coming." The invaders are invaded. Ancient records say the rivers they built as protective barriers flooded and undermined their own gates. Their silver, gold, endless supplies—plundered. Like the man in Jesus' parable who built bigger barns: "You fool, tonight your life will end."We are our treasure. Don't go to heaven by yourself. See if some other people will come with you. Some of our dearest treasure started as strangers. The gospel is the greatest announcement of peace. Sin judged at the cross. He seems to just sit and lie on apile of things. He maybe disabled so he cannot stand and walk. Every time he begs, he always saysthis following words: "For the sake of my soul and body." Thisexpression may give us a profound meaning. It has a religious insight that leadsus to marvel about the purpose of life and from where it comes from. Maybe hehas been involved to talk with some of the passersby, but his statement iscertainly an invitation for everyone to reflect on the meaning of life on thisworld. Many people flood the mall with alltheir money for shopping. They go out of the mall with the appearance as peopletypcally of this time of history. They want to enjoy the preciousness of thisworld today in the building full with air conditioned. That disabled and poorman who represents the unfortunate people of our society, is actually showinghis poor condition by begging, but he at the same time presents an importantteaching to all people about his identity as a dignified human person and asGod's creation. This is related to the purpose of Godsending us to the world, looking after us, and bringing us back to His placeafter our lives in this world ends. The welfare of the soul and body is thepurpose of our lives in this world, or as expressed spiritually namely oursalvation as children of God. The Lord Jesus calls our attention through thepreaching of the Gospel today about having possessions here in the world andalso the treasure that we will have after this world. That poor man answers theteaching of God by proclaiming to the world that the real treasure for ushumans is the salvation of our souls and bodies. If you had unlimited resources, what would you build? A dream home? A business empire? Restore a car? Solomon had it all—yet when he finished, he looked around and asked, Was this worth it? His story forces us to ask: Are we building something temporary or something eternal? Welcome to The Daily. We go through the bible verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter, every single day. Our text today is Ecclesiastes 2:4-6. I made great works. I built houses and planted vineyards for myself. I made myself gardens and parks, and planted in them all kinds of fruit trees. I made myself pools from which to water the forest of growing trees.— Ecclesiastes 2:4-6 Solomon had the resources, the power, and the vision to create whatever he desired. He built houses, cultivated vineyards, designed lush gardens, and even engineered irrigation systems to sustain his creation. On the surface, it might have looked like a kingdom of great prosperity. But beneath it all, he was left questioning its real worth and value. Solomon's statement reveals that no matter how grand our projects or ambitions are if they are built only for ourselves, they will not satisfy us. Notice his phrase, "I made myself." You see, we can do this too. We can pour time, money, and effort into building a dream—whether it's a career, a home, or a legacy—but if God is not at the center, the forefront, and first in everything, then all we build is meaningless. Solomon's wealth couldn't buy meaning, and his accomplishments couldn't provide lasting joy. So, what are you building? Are you investing in the temporary or the eternal? Jesus said, “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:20). The only things that endure are those built for God's glory. Remember: What you build won't matter—who you build for does. #EternalPerspective, #BiblicalWisdom, #FaithOverSuccess ASK THIS: What personal ambitions or goals are you pursuing most? How do you ensure that God remains at the center of your efforts? Have you ever achieved something significant only to feel unfulfilled? What does storing up treasures in heaven look like in your daily life? DO THIS: Evaluate what you are building in life—career, family, wealth—and ask: Is God truly at the center of it? PRAY THIS: Lord, help me build my life on what truly matters—Your kingdom and Your purpose. Keep me from chasing empty pursuits and guide me to invest in the eternal. Amen. PLAY THIS: Build My Life.

On a bend in a big city street that leads to a large and modern shopping center, just around the corner, there is a homeless man, who is fed every day by passers-by. He seems to be sitting and lying on top of his pile of things. It is possible that he is disabled so he cannot stand and walk. Every time begging to passers-by, the words that always come out of his mouth are: "For the salvation of my soul and body." Of course, if this expression is absorbed for a moment, we agree that this expression has a deep spiritual meaning. Maybe he was sometimes invited by people to talk, but what he says is an invitation for everyone to talk to others and to themselves. Many people flood the mall with all their money for shopping. They enter and leave the mall with the appearance of civilized and educated people to show their identity as the people of this century. They want to enjoy the joys of this world in the big air-conditioned building. The poor man clearly shows his poor condition by begging, but at the same time he offers a very important teaching to everyone about identity as a dignified human person created by the Almighty God. This relates to God's purpose in sending us into the world, in taking care of us and in bringing us to His place after this life on earth ends. The salvation of soul and body is a principle of life in this world which is expressed spiritually in the form of our salvation as children of God the most high. The Lord Jesus calls our attention through the proclamation of the Gospel today about the possession of treasures in this world and also treasures for us after this world. The poor man who lives on that city corner indeed answers the teaching of the Lord by proclaiming to the world that the real treasure for human beings is their body and soul, which is justified by God. The people of this world who struggle to make a living anywhere and under any conditions, those who work with muscle and with mind, those who have and those who are poor, those who are sick and healthy; all are reminded with the same invitation, namely: the priority of the goodness and salvation of body and soul. To ensure that we always keep this eternal treasure in our attention, Saint Paul makes one suggestion, namely that we should take care of one another in Christ, so that all may be saved. In this world there are so many powers that do not bring salvation to us. They are all not from God. We must not follow them. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... Jesus is confident that God is our eternal treasure. But He sees that we grasp for the enticing things of the world first. It can be a challenge to see past all that is ultimately empty and take to heart that God's goodness and love is our eternal treasure. We celebrate the reality of Jesus who is the saving Christ, the living God, who is our eternal treasure.

1 Peter 1:10-12 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

Jesus says that "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:21). As we pursue Jesus, we have an opportunity to invest in Eternal things.  October 27th, 2019

How did Moses show that he wasn't ashamed of belonging to the Lord? What did Moses give up? Why did Israel need a Passover lamb when they left Egypt? Deeper Discussion Why can the reproach of Christ be considered a treasure? What was it that quenched the fear of Pharaoh for Moses and his parents? How would this passage correct those who were thinking that this "saved by faith" thing was new to the Lord? What is similar to the Passover in regards to how the blood of the Lamb is applied? How might remembering that the present world will face God's judgement help us to cling to faith in Christ?

This Sunday we focus our attention on prayer from Colossians 4 and discuss how important it is for us to get Christ's power (the Key) in order to live a life worthy of what Christ deserves (the eternal Treasure). Prayer wins the battle, and we must persist in seeking the Lord. Hope it's a blessing!

A rich young ruler walks away from eternal treasure for the sake of temporary pleasure.

Jesus challenges his followers to focus on eternal treasure rather than earthly treasure. How we view and use our money and possessions offers an accurate reflection of our spiritual condition.

The last words of this great letter focus our attention on eternity.  Are we investing in earthly things or eternal things?  This is a question we should continually be asking ourselves to keep ourselves focused throughout our lives.
