L3Xidivine is L3XDIVINE was recognized for a video series titled #EMCEEMONDAY where she would spit a "Hot 16" each week, with the iPhone she was instructed (by Holy Spirit) to buy with her last paycheck. She landed gigs in Vegas through church events, Guerilla Cross, and other various sources. She became even more familiar to the CHH community through the project EL V. Envy by JGivens and through competing at “The Rap Showcase” held at Legacy Conference in Chicago, IL. Her music began to receive attention from platforms such as Trackstarz, Rapzilla, Forth District, and more. In 2017 she created a stage for women through Legacy Fest titled She's Next, as a way to shed light on the under-representation of women in the Christian Hip Hop Community, and more recently won the Jackson Pollock challenge held by Andy Mineo! The beginning has arrived for L3XDIVINE and we are excited as she impacts the world, reconciling generations back to Christ. And, we are very excited to be sharing her music as well as her ministry with you! PLUS, we will be sharing a powerful Thought of the Week entitled, "A Beautiful Conspiracy" inspired by our recent interview with CHH Artist L3XIDVINE. Baraka says, “The command to love—in all the fullness and justice of that word—is laid on all, from politician to painter. With every policy pushed, every stroke of the brush, we put forth what we believe about God and about good. With what we make, we affect the world. For better or for worse.” In this conversation we explore how our creative gifts and good works can contribute to the care and repair of our hurting world. I sat down with Roman back in 2015 and I knew he was a star years before that. Since then, he's appeared alongside labelmate Jidenna in the smash "Classic Man" and he's toured around the world extensively. I think this was a good episode to bring out the vault in case you missed it the first go 'round. I hope you enjoy the convo as much as I had having it. Roman continues to inspire me til this day and I look forward to the world discovering all of the genius (and I don't say that lightly) that's housed within him. "Roman is someone you’d want to lock into a studio for a week and wait for him to reemerge with our generation’s Songs in the Key of Life. He’s that skilled. He’s that gifted. And perhaps most importantly, he’s that free." The SetList is a music podcast hosted by Forth District’s A&R, Adan Bean, and features artist from every part of the musical landscape. The SetList seeks to reveal an artist’s interests, influences, and background in music like no other interview has done before. On this episode Adan sits down with Atlanta’s own Roman GianArthur! Roman is a producer/writer/singer/composer who has been cutting his teeth in the afro-futuristic space camp collective that is the Wondaland Arts Society (helmed by Rebelutionary soul singer superstar Janelle Monae).
The SetList is a music podcast hosted by Forth District’s A&R, Adan Bean, and features artist from every part of the musical landscape. The SetList seeks to reveal an artist’s interests, influences, and background in music like no other interview has done before. On this episode, Adan sits down with his Forth brother-in arms, Sho Baraka! Sho doesn't have any new music to discuss, so I figured I'd switch it up and and just have a talk with this incredible "Thought Leader". So, this is a freeflowing conversation with the homie. We focus our time together around Grown Hip Hop. Hip Hop is often typified as a 'young man's game' but this genre has aged as have many of its music-makers and consumers. We go back and forth identifying our list of music from the genre that speaks to hip hop's maturity and growth. We highlight and celebrate it here. In addition to that, we talk about how Lebron on the Lakers is reconciling our sports friendship, the changing politics of progressivism (and by converse, conservatism as well), and what work Sho is up to right now. We discuss it all! Mixed and Edited by DJ Opdiggy. Recorded at the Forth District Podcast Studio. Powered by Forth District.
The SetList is a music podcast hosted by Forth District’s A&R, Adán, and features artist from every part of the musical landscape. The SetList seeks to reveal an artist’s interests, influences, and background in music like no other interview has done before. On this episode, Adan sits down with the music journalist and indie soul singer Rob Milton! Rob Milton is so many things. On one hand, he's 1/3 of the incredibly talented vocal group Cousin (think "Glee meets The Clark Sisters"). Fresh off the heels of the release of Best Life 2.0, Rob Milton is poised to take over the world and we're just happy he took time out from globe domination. We discuss what it's like to be young and creative, working multiple jobs to make it as a creative professional and why do so many singers sound the same these days ("Where'd these accent come from?"). From his bio, "a young creative with one foot in both sides of the industry, Rob Milton is a music journalist and indie soul singer who has managed to make a name for himself through releasing an abundance of quality music and serving as a contributing blogger for SoulBounce and Virgin.com. His passion and presentation have allowed him opportunities such as performing on stage at Washington, DC's Howard Theatre, New York City's famed SOB's venue, recording at Converse's Rubber Tracks Studio in Brooklyn, New York, and receiving press nods from MTV UK, OkayPlayer, AfroPunk, Solange's Saint Heron, SoulBounce, and Ebony Magazine. His music can also be heard in Black And Sexy TV's Rider web series and Centric's Being." Mixed and Edited by DJ Opdiggy. Recorded at the Orange Fuzz studio. Powered by Forth District.
The SetList is a music podcast hosted by Forth District’s A&R, Adan Bean, and features artist from every part of the musical landscape. The SetList seeks to reveal an artist’s interests, influences, and background in music like no other interview has done before. On this episode, Adan sits down with the Kentucky-bred offshoot group The Off Daze! Deacon Tha Villain and Natti (Cunninglynguist) and Sheisty Khrist (NWL) talk through the origin of their incredible project and what it's like growing up in the KY music scene. We also delve into unforgettable stories about Kanye West being unrecognized in the middle of the streets of Norway, Cee-Lo down on his luck, and Macklemore when he retired...before the superstardom of "Thrift Shop" fame. We discuss it all! Psychedelic and boogie-influenced love raps are the order of the day on this good time collaboration between Natti and Deacon The Villain from Kentucky’s CunninLynguists crew and Sheisty Khrist. Over the bouncing bass and ‘80s synths of “Couple’s Skate,” the duo name-check fellow funked-up hip-hop crew Digital Underground before announcing, “It’s like you and me flowing through the ether / The sounds of the quiet storm going through the speaker.” Closing cut “Who Are You?” moves in a poppier direction with a rousing chorus sung over upbeat, guitar-and-scratch production. ~ Bandcamp Daily (Best Hip Hop on Bandcamp Aug'18) Mixed and Edited by DJ Opdiggy Recorded at the Orange Fuzz studio.
