The most consistent feeling people have in this country right now is that the system is broken and that makes us feel powerless when we're not. The Trump administration might be impossible for us to reach right now, but voters are right there, and according to Swing Left's Yasmin Radjy we should be talking directly to them. Hope is a muscle that we've allowed to atrophy, but there's no progress without it. The Democrats have to do a better job at listening and building trust if we're not only going to beat back this terrible government, but rebuild something far better in it's place. Legal recruiters and podcast hosts Genevieve Riccardelli and Jennifer Soltau join Mary to unpack how law-firm hiring is being turned on its head. They run entry-level recruiting at Goodwin and see the shift happening in real time. Their perspective on what students want, what firms are doing, and where this all goes next is honest, practical and very needed. In this episode: OCI is losing its structure. What used to be a predictable, school-run process has fractured. Firms are now interviewing students before grades, before exams and sometimes before classes even begin. Recruiting years into the future. Firms are locking in talent 2 or 3 years ahead without knowing what their practices or clients will actually need. That mismatch shows up later in churn, confusion and a lot of second guessing. The in-house pull. More students want in-house careers and some companies are now hiring straight out of law school. The long-standing assumption that firms are the only training ground is shifting. A new type of candidate. Students with previous careers in biotech, business or tech are clearer about their goals and often move through the process faster. Their presence is reshaping expectations on both sides. What firms need to rethink. Copying whatever another firm does will not cut it anymore. The future belongs to firms that listen, experiment and build programs that match what talent actually wants. If you want to understand how law-firm recruiting broke and what the next generation of lawyers is really looking for, this conversation is worth your time. Tonight on Hidden Killers, psychotherapist Shavaun Scott helps us unravel two cases that shouldn't be connected — but absolutely are. On one side: Ashlee Buzzard, a mother spiraling into paranoia, delusion, secrecy, and destabilization as her nine-year-old daughter, Melodee, remains missing. On the other: Morgan Geyser, the Slender Man attacker who escaped a state placement, cut her ankle monitor, crossed state lines with a 42-year-old man, and was found behind a truck stop. Two wildly different cases. One identical problem: a system incapable of responding to psychological danger until AFTER the damage is done. Shavaun takes us deep into the psychology behind both crises. In the Buzzard case, we look at fractured reality, shifting stories, conspiracy fears, digital erasure, symbolic “shrines,” and the psychological danger created when a child's safety depends entirely on a parent who may no longer be tethered to shared reality — yet shows just enough calm to avoid involuntary intervention. In the Geyser case, we dig into the illusion of “recovery,” the fragility of delusion-based offenders, hidden addresses, overlooked red flags, troubling adult relationships, and the near-disastrous consequences of placing someone with her history in an unsecured neighborhood with nothing but a GPS bracelet — a bracelet that failed the moment it mattered. Both cases ask the same chilling questions: • Why can't the system intervene before irreversible harm? • Why is “imminent danger” defined so narrowly it becomes meaningless? • How can someone be deeply unstable yet still appear compliant enough to avoid detection? • How many red flags does it take before a child or community is protected? This is a conversation about psychology, danger, and systemic blind spots — and why families, victims, and entire neighborhoods keep getting blindsided by crises everyone saw coming but nobody was legally allowed to stop. #HiddenKillers #MelodeeBuzzard #AshleeBuzzard #MorganGeyser #SlenderMan #TrueCrime #MentalHealthCrisis #SystemFailure #TonyBrueski #ShavaunScott Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Nima Hakimi, CEO and Co-Founder of Convoso, joined Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News, to discuss one of the most pressing issues facing legitimate outbound sales teams today: how to reach customers when carriers are aggressively filtering calls. Convoso serves revenue teams in insurance, financial services, and home services—organizations that depend on connecting with leads who have actively expressed intent. But even calls to fully permissioned customers are increasingly mislabeled as spam, scam, or telemarketer, damaging contact rates and revenue. A Broken System for Legitimate Businesses Hakimi notes that carriers and analytics providers like Hiya, TNS, and First Orion are trying to stop fraud, but the system is far from perfect. “You can have consent, follow the rules, and still get mislabeled,” he explained. For outbound teams spending heavily on leads and labor, this results in wasted efforts, lost deals, and lower productivity. Convoso's response is Ignite, an AI-powered engine that monitors caller ID reputation, analyzes contact-rate drops, and automatically selects the best-performing number in real time. It deprioritizes numbers falsely flagged by carriers and optimizes outreach across voice and text to preserve compliance and improve connection rates. Solving the “Black Box” Problem Because no carrier provides a clear standard for avoiding flags, Convoso built Ignite to manage the number lifecycle automatically preventing declines that teams only notice after revenue is lost. What's Next Hakimi says 2026 will be defined by deeper AI integration, improved lead-quality prediction, and greater automation of dialer operations. “We're helping teams make better real-time decisions using the data they already have,” he said. Our Broken System - Matthew 27.11-31 by Redeemer Church Podcast
In this powerful episode of American Potential, host David From speaks with Amy Siple, a Kansas nurse practitioner whose career was nearly destroyed—not for harming a patient, not for malpractice, but for a clerical error while her husband battled cancer. When Amy missed a routine license renewal fee, the Kansas Board of Nursing launched a punitive process that labeled her “unprofessional,” threatened her ability to work, jeopardized her malpractice insurance, and put her on permanent national databases. As Amy began speaking out, she discovered countless other Kansas nurses suffering the same fate for minor errors—while the state faces a severe nursing shortage and spends $44 million on contract labor. Amy sheds light on a system with little oversight, inconsistent discipline, and a board that has quietly accumulated $4 million in fines from nurses. She also shares how legislators are now fighting to reform the system, protect nurses, and ultimately protect patients who rely on skilled professionals like her. This is a must-listen episode for anyone concerned about government overreach, healthcare access, professional licensing reform, and supporting the nurses who serve our communities.
In this episode we welcome back Andy Schoonover, CEO of CrowdHealth, to discuss the challenges and alternatives to traditional health insurance and how there are incredible options that allow us to lower our healthcare costs, take back the power of choosing our provider and working with them to create a care plan, and free ourselves from the broken insurance companies within our broken healthcare system . Andy shares his personal journey that led to the creation of CrowdHealth, a community-based healthcare solution that empowers individuals to pay directly for medical services, bypassing traditional insurance. Our conversation delves into the inefficiencies of the current healthcare system, the benefits of direct payment, and how CrowdHealth is fostering a supportive community. You will gain insights into how you can take control of your healthcare choices and explore innovative solutions that prioritize both financial savings and community support.
Making a Scene Presents - Music Metadata on the Blockchain: Fixing a Broken SystemThe music industry has a weird problem that nobody outside the business talks about. It's not streaming payouts. It's not labels taking too much money. It's something way more basic, almost embarrassing when you think about it. The whole industry still runs on broken metadata. Metadata is the simple information about a song like who wrote it, who produced it, who played on it, who owns the master, who owns the publishing, and what identifiers track those rights. Without it, the entire royalty system collapses. And right now, that system is held together with duct tape, Excel sheets, and outdated databases that can't keep up with the global music economy. http://www.makingascene.org
It's a given for many college students that they'll begin their adult lives with student loan debt. For the author of a new memoir, the experience was extreme. At 22 years old, Kristin Collier walked into a bank to apply for a credit card. She walked out with the knowledge that somehow, she already owed more than $200,000. Her mother had taken out the loans in her name, without her consent. Collier confronts that debt — and the way debt shapes life in the United States — in the book, “What Debt Demands: Family, Betrayal and Precarity in a Broken System.” She lives in Minneapolis and joined Minnesota Now guest host Chris Farrell to talk about the book.

One mother's plea and a judge's blueprint collide with a terrifying truth: the systems meant to protect people with serious mental illness—and the communities around them—often wait until harm is done. We bring Beverly Gille and Judge Milton L. Mack Jr. together to map how a 28-year struggle, from teen psychosis to homelessness and a mass stabbing in a Traverse City Walmart, reveals the exact points where policy, privacy, and practice failed. We walk through the pivotal transitions that matter most: when minors become adults and families lose access, when court orders lapse because of rigid renewal windows, and when police lack clear authority to transport someone to a crisis center before danger peaks. Judge Mack explains the shift toward assisted outpatient treatment, why recognizing lack of insight saves lives, and how proposed Michigan bills would empower families to file petitions, broaden who can testify, and end the “seven-day trap” that breaks continuity of care.Beverly's story grounds the policy in lived experience—adult foster care that worked until it didn't, ACT teams with uneven follow-through, and a release to the streets where legal access to potent cannabis accelerated psychosis. We connect outcomes to dollars and dignity: assisted outpatient treatment reduces hospitalizations, arrests, homelessness, and drug use, delivering better recovery and safer communities without demanding new budget lines. Most of all, we challenge a false choice: untreated illness is not liberty; treatment restores agency, safety, and community trust. If this conversation resonates, share it with someone who needs to hear it. There are stories that break your heart — and then there are stories that break your trust in the entire system. The case of Aaron Spencer out of Lonoke County, Arkansas, does both. Spencer is the father who woke up one October night to find his 14-year-old daughter gone, a decoy hoodie left behind, and the man she was missing with — a convicted child predator named Michael Fosler — nowhere to be found. Fosler wasn't some random stranger. He was out on bond for a string of charges including internet stalking of a child and sexual indecency with a minor. The district attorney's office knew his record. The judge knew it. And they still let him walk free. That decision nearly cost a little girl her life. So when Aaron Spencer spotted that car with his daughter inside, he didn't see an opportunity for patience — he saw an active kidnapping in progress. He acted, confronting the predator who had taken his child. Fosler died at the scene. The daughter lived. Now, instead of being celebrated for saving her, Spencer is facing a second-degree-murder charge — prosecuted by the same system that failed to keep the predator locked up. And if that sounds backward to you, you're not alone. This episode dives deep into the legal, psychological, and moral collapse that allowed this to happen — how prosecutors, judges, and pre-trial services made decision after decision that put a child in harm's way. And how one father's act of courage exposed just how broken “justice” has become. Spencer's response? He's running for sheriff — against the department that arrested him — to make sure no other parent ever has to choose between obeying the law and saving their child. This isn't vigilante justice. It's survival. It's accountability. It's what happens when good people have had enough. #AaronSpencer #ArkansasJustice #TrueCrime #HiddenKillers #ChildProtection #JusticeSystemFailure #ParentalInstinct #DAFail #HeroDad #LawAndOrderCollapse Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Send us a textYou're Not Broken. You're Just in a Broken System. After four years of coaching women physicians, I've noticed patterns; patterns that show up again and again in brilliant, capable doctors who feel like they're barely holding it together. If you've ever felt like a hot mess inside while everyone thinks you have it all figured out, this episode is for you. What You'll Discover in This Episode:1. We all feel like hot messes inside You think it's just you who's struggling to thrive in healthcare. It's not. Every woman physician I've coached feels this way. The problem isn't you; it's the system. But this belief keeps us isolated, thinking we're the only ones falling apart.2. We're all carrying trauma (even if we don't see it) Migraines. Panic attacks. That third glass of wine. Emotional numbness. These aren't character flaws; they're trauma responses. Our bodies weren't designed to hold this much stress for this long.3. We think we "should" know how to take care of ourselves. Here's the truth bomb: You were never taught self-care. You were taught self-sacrifice. Stop that sentence in your head that says "I'm a doctor, I should know better." Knowing medical facts doesn't mean you know how to care for yourself.4. The system doesn't value your unique gifts You have patients who say "I never want to see anyone else." You make a real difference. But the system treats you like a widget. When you don't fit in their box, you internalize the message that you're not valuable. That thought is killing us.5. We get in our own way "Who I am isn't enough. What I want doesn't matter. I need to be better before I deserve what I want." Sound familiar? This belief is the biggest stumbling block keeping you stuck.6. We won't set boundaries until we believe in our own value You think you have to prove your worth first, then you'll deserve boundaries. But that day never comes. The system profits from your lack of boundaries. You have to believe in your value NOW to set them.7. We think there's ONE right way to do everything Medical training taught us to look for the algorithm, the evidence, the one best answer. So we keep searching for the perfect planner, the ideal system, the magic app. Meanwhile, we take no action at all. The best system is the one that works for YOU.8. Change is uncomfortable—and we hate that You can rewire yourself. You can set boundaries. You can take better care of yourself. But it requires time you don't think you have and attention you don't think you have. Growth feels awkward. That's how you know it's working.9. The answer isn't out there. It's in here. I know you want a hack, an app, a planner that will fix everything. But no external system will replace doing your own internal work. You need tools and support, yes—but you have to do the work yourself.10. The doctors crushing it aren't doing it alone They hire help. They delegate. They're in communities. They have support systems you can't see. You only see what they're doing—not all the things they're NOT doing and not the he Support the showTo learn more about my coaching practice and group offerings, head over to www.healthierforgood.com. The tragic death of Logan Federico exposes deep flaws in South Carolina's justice system — flaws that allowed her killer, Alexander Dickey, to walk free despite multiple felony convictions. In this episode, we break down how suspended sentences, political influence over judicial appointments, and legislative inaction combined to create a system where accountability often fails victims. Former Senator Lee Bright joins the conversation to discuss the bill he filed that could have prevented Logan's death, why the state's judges operate with near-total autonomy, and how voters can demand real change. We also dive into the influence of partisan groups in primary elections and the fight for representation in the state senate.

In this powerful episode of Pushing the Limits, Lisa Tamati sits down with visionary entrepreneur, Bitcoin OG, and author of The Price of Tomorrow — Jeff Booth. Jeff shares his profound insights on why our current financial system is breaking under the weight of exponential technological deflation and debt-driven inflation, and why Bitcoin offers not just an alternative — but a path toward hope, truth, and sovereignty. Together, they explore how exponential technology is rewriting the rules of economics, why central banks can't stop printing without collapse, and what a deflationary future built on sound money could mean for humanity's evolution. Booth's clarity on macroeconomics, human nature, and the moral imperative of Bitcoin offers a deeply philosophical — yet practical — roadmap for navigating the coming decade. If you've ever wondered how innovation, integrity, and decentralised systems intersect to redefine the future of money and freedom, this episode is essential listening. This episode digs deep into the case that shocked a state: how Alexander Dickey — with 70+ charges and 25 felony convictions dating back to 2013 — repeatedly walked free on suspended sentences and ultimately murdered Logan Federico. We trace the failures from judges who routinely suspended heavy sentences, to a legislature-appointed judiciary and the big law-firm money that helps keep the system intact. Along the way we examine Attorney General Alan Wilson's late-demand for the death penalty, who really held power in these plea deals, and why blaming a single prosecutor ignores a decade of systemic breakdown. If you care about accountability, sentencing reform, and ending the “wink-wink” culture that lets violent repeat offenders roam the streets, this episode lays out the facts, the history, and the reforms the public should demand.
In this episode, we expose how South Carolina's “good ol' boys club” of prosecutors, judges, and lawmakers allowed convicted felon Alexander Dickey to repeatedly walk free despite more than 70 charges and 25 felony convictions—until he brutally murdered Logan Federico. We trace the failures back to 2013, revealing how suspended sentences, political favoritism, and a legislature-controlled judiciary enabled this tragedy. With Attorney General Alan Wilson now demanding the death penalty only after national embarrassment, we ask: is real justice possible in a system built to protect itself?
