If you haven't invested in your marketing yet, then you're missing a lot on your business' success! Marketing is the magnet that makes your phone ring and fills up your calendar with work, but if you don't know what to do, or even what to get started with, you'll find it hard to grow your business to the next level. So I hope you join me today as I share six free and easy landscaping marketing strategies I've already proven effective in my business. Remember, there are lots of free platforms out there. You just got to allot time, energy, and effort to make it work for you and what you do.     “Dive deep into understanding as much as you can about marketing as possible because it's literally the magnet that makes the phone ring and fills up your calendar with work.”  – Keith Kalfas       Why do you have to listen to today's episode. 00:27 – “The reason you'd want to do email marketing is because it's free or very low cost.” Strategy #1: Email marketing. Hit up your customers and make sure they can get in contact with you.   02:35 – “I scrub down a list of the 5000 customers we've had and we have, and I scrub it down to 750 people… a list of 100 each, and I create a voicemail.” Strategy #2: Voicemail broadcast. Scrub your customer list to the people you still want to connect with and reach out to them about your business.   03:33 – “Go through your call logs, anything you can do to get their phone to your address book.” Strategy #3: Go to sly broadcast and call previous clients.   04:29 – “There is text message software where you can send a text to thousands of people at once.” Strategy #4: Reconnect with old clients, or text them, your customers.   04:55 – “Go and create noise inside of there so you show up at the top of the Google algorithm when people are searching in your local city.” Strategy #5: Maximize your Google My Business or Google My Maps. Be very active. Post pictures, ask for reviews, and create offers with a deadline.   05:41 – “Post on social media regularly. Invest in that.” Strategy #6: Have a business page on Facebook and start posting regularly. Link it back to your own business, and invite people to follow.   06:06 – “Be a walking, talking advertising marketing campaign that never ever stops.” Get yourself your own business cards, and everywhere you go, leave one somewhere. Also, do the five around, knocking on doors and introducing yourself.   09:03 – “You can get in trouble for posting in some places, but if you go stick them in all the turnarounds and subdivisions and all over the place, your phone will start ringing.” Bandit signs work phenomenally. Visit UZ Marketing for this. Powerful bandit signs are worth the investment.   10:25 – Check out these books: a) Duct Tape Marketing, b) Guerilla Marketing, c) Purple Cow   10:50 – “Dive deep into understanding as much as you can about marketing as possible because it's literally the magnet that makes the phone ring and fills up your calendar with work.” You can grow your business and have the option to get rid of clients you don't like and who don't pay when you have your phone ringing off the hook and lots of leads are coming in.   11:56 – “Sometimes, it gets really easy, and then it gets hard, and then it gets easy. That's just the nature and cycles of business.” Good clients that pay on time and are easy to work with are going to save your business, they're going to keep the cash flow coming in, even if they're not the best-paying clients.   Key Takeaways  “You want to prioritize the highest ROI, what is the biggest bang you can get for free, and then you prioritize down from there.”   “The lowest customer acquisition cost, because it costs you money, time, and energy to acquire customers, is to go back to people you've already done business with.”   “Be a walking, talking advertising marketing campaign that never ever stops.”   “If you ever get in a position where you have more time than you have work, go invest all that time into marketing and advertising and drumming up more work and then returning your customers into recurring clients. asking them for referrals by developing an automatic referral generation system, you can do this stuff automatically.”   “Sometimes, it gets really easy, and then it gets hard and then it gets easy. That's just the nature and cycles of business.”   Connect with Keith   Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn Website Resources/People Mentioned:   My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast Audible: website Constant Contact: website Mailchimp: website Joshua Latimer: Send Jim, Radius Bomb, Sly Broadcast Google My Business: Business profile Google My Maps: maps UZ Marketing: website John Jantsch's book: Duct Tape Marketing Jay Conrad Levinson's book: Guerilla Marketing Seth Godin's book: Purple Cow My video: Trickle, Flow, Flood One-on-one coaching: Keith's link Want to go to the GIE+EXPO 2022? 7 Proven Steps to Training Landscaping Employees & Delegating Work

The Untrapped Podcast With Keith Kalfas

When you approach your employees about the job they're paid to do, do you feel like you're confronting them?   Lack of communication and lack of delegation will cost you your business and your personal life in the long run. Therefore, this episode examines ways to delegate and communicate with your employees in a way that won't feel confrontational. By following these seven proven steps, you can train your employees and give them responsibilities. It changed everything for me and my business when I discovered these.   “Sometimes, you have to stop or intervene. The moment will inform you what's required. Moment by moment; it's a moment-by-moment dance. And if you're in fear and anxiety and trauma and stuck in your head, then you can't calibrate properly.”   – Keith Kalfas   Why do you have to listen to today's episode. 01:53 – “Whenever the pressure is on, if you put all that pressure on yourself and you keep pulling the work harder level, and you're picking up the slack for everybody else… you're gonna dig yourself into a nervous breakdown or an early grave, and people will take advantage of that.” It is important to remember that if you don't lead properly, people will take advantage of that, which will result in them doing so little of the work they were hired to do.   02:22 – “People want to do a good job. They want to work hard, they want to take pride in their work, and they want to be delegated to and told what to do and handed the right proper tools and be taught how to do it properly…” People want to be in charge of their jobs. When you're a control freak and nobody can do anything right, you might have to go through them to fix things.   02:56 – “First of all, you do the detailed property walk. This is how you delegate.” The detailed property walk will simplify the job and explain each section in detail. It is easy to train the right people, but it is impossible to modify the behavior of the wrong ones.   07:59 – “You do it in front of him, and then now, you have him do it.” Make sure you give the experienced person something to work on right away, take the new person along, give him a task, and make him feel like you care by coaching him.   12:47 – “Now that you've got it, I want you to teach me everything. Pretend like I'm a new guy and teach me how to do the thing.”  Now, have him teach you how to do the thing. Believe me when I say that this changed everything for me.   16:05 – “The best way to learn something is to actually teach it. There's an accountability switch that flips on the head when you're teaching something.”  In the second stage, ask him to teach the other guy - who already knows the drill - to do the same thing. If you want to help him learn more, you should stand and observe him teaching. The experienced guys can be left alone.   20:59 – Check these books on audible.com: (1) Crucial Conversations, and (2) Difficult Conversations     Key Takeaways  “Why should you listen to me? I'm Keith Kalfas. I've been in business for 10 years, and I've had all types of failures. I was a landscaper my whole life… and I've had to learn a lot of painful lessons.”   “Whenever the pressure is on if you put all that pressure on yourself and you keep pulling the work harder level and you're picking up the slack for everybody else… you're gonna dig yourself into a nervous breakdown or an early grave, and people will take advantage of that.”   “You can teach the right person any skill or any trick of the trade or anything. But if it's the wrong guy, it's hard to teach him anything. He's just the wrong guy.”   “The best way to learn something is to actually teach it. There's an accountability switch that flips on the head when you're teaching something.”   “The more experienced the guy is, the more that you can leave him alone.”     Connect with Keith   Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn Website       Resources/People Mentioned: My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast Get a Free Trial of JOBBER Software & save 20% off your first 6 months. Have you ever heard that in order to achieve success, you need to do everything by yourself?   I cannot stress how much I disagree with this because whether we admit it or not, we're in a completely different reality now. There's a more effective way to reach your dream life without having to send yourself towards burnout.   Now that I hired the right people for my business, I am no longer stuck up until the weekends, handcuffed to my computer, and doing all the work alone. As someone who has been there, I understand. Trust me, I've been there. You are going to have the opportunity to see things that will help you live a better and more prosperous life.   “The next time there's something repeatedly frustrating you and your business that you can't do and you feel handcuffed, ask yourself 'who,' not ‘how.'”  – Keith Kalfas     Why do you have to listen to today's episode.     00:20 – “There's a new reality, and there's a new way… and the people that don't adopt these new ways will literally find themselves extremely frustrated in the next five years.” This episode will be about hiring remote employees, based on my experience and the others', having observed how the seemingly impossible becomes possible these days.   05:23 – “You have to get to the point where you finally realize and accept as a concrete reality that if you're trying to learn how, and trying to do it all yourself, then it's literally never ever going to get done.” We all dream of having the freedom to live our life while our business runs. In doing business, you need to create a structure that's independent of you and separate from your identity.   10:01 – “I'm gonna tell you stories to help your mind get through each one so then you can go out and do some of this stuff.” Here, I give you a list of the tasks you can delegate, along with stories from my own experience, to help you navigate through each one.     13:36 – “And it was like this frustrating thing, because every time we built this out, we tried to have people help us do all the tasks that needed to be done in the business, we're looking for the wrong people.”  The first mistake you shouldn't do: Hire your nephew or any family member and/or neighbor's kid.   15:40 – “Your internal customers, your employees, and your assistants, they have to be the right people.”  The second mistake: Pontificating that there's got to be someone somewhere who wants to make a few extra bucks.   16:25 – “You can literally pile so much on people's plates that you'll run them off, and they'll burn out, and they'll quit, so you got to be very careful about that.” The third mistake: Trying to put the turd on someone else's plate   19:20 – “When you finally discover the solution of hiring these virtual assistants to help you in your business, that's where the real work starts.”  The fourth mistake: Trying to abdicate the work to someone who obviously sucks at it   29:13 – “The next time there's something repeatedly frustrating you and your business that you can't do and you feel handcuffed, ask yourself who, not how.”  Stop asking yourself how you can do things. Ask yourself who are the qualified people that can help you do those things.   33:29 – Q&A portion     Key Takeaways  “There's a new reality, and there's a new way, and it's been here for five to seven years now. And the people that don't adopt these new ways, and tap into these new tactics and principles, they will literally find themselves extremely frustrated in the next five years.”   “You have to get to the point where you finally realize and accept as a concrete reality that if you're trying to learn how, and trying to do it all yourself, then it's literally never ever going to get done.”   “Of all the things that need to get done to build all these structures so you can flow more cash and have more freedom, you need people and software and systems.”   “Your internal customers, your employees, and your assistants, they have to be the right people.”   “When you finally discover the solution of hiring these virtual assistants to help you in your business, that's where the real work starts.”   “It will never, ever, ever get done if you don't realize you can't do it and you have to hire someone else to do it.”     Connect with Keith   Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn Website     Resources/People Mentioned: My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast Joshua Latimer: LinkedIn Brandon Vaughn: LinkedIn Tim Feriss' book: The 4-Hour Workweek Spencer Johnson's book: Who Moved My Cheese Dan Platta: Blue Skies Services Dan Sullivan's book: Who Not How Find freelancers here: Upwork Jill's Office: Website Monday.com: Website Brad Smart's book: Topgrading Want to go to the GIE+EXPO 2022? Dealing with Anxiety in Your Landscaping Business

The Untrapped Podcast With Keith Kalfas

Do you feel trapped in a hamster wheel, fighting for nothing but your survival every day? Many people who find it hard to become successful even when they want to be so severely are usually dealing with issues trying to stop them from reaching their goals. And as unfortunate as it is, living in this world where judgment and prejudice exist doesn't do them any good. That's why we must learn how to be in that space of peace and calm as much as possible because otherwise, we'll succumb to these conflicts and always be lost. So join me as I talk about this on today's episode.     “Real wealth is in the present moment; it's in being.”   – Keith Kalfas     Why do you have to listen to today's episode.   00:33 – “As a society, we've been conditioned and trained to do that stuff, but that's not where the real wealth is. Real wealth is in the present moment. It's in being.”  I used to film and post deep, inspirational videos from time to time, especially at specific points when I felt like I was in total bliss and peace. But as most know, anxiety attacks are getting harder to deal with nowadays.   03:00 – “Just because you feel like something is safe doesn't mean you're safe at all. And just because you feel like there's danger or you're scared doesn't mean there's any imminent danger.” Certainty is something we all look for in life. You can develop a toolbox to help you become cool and calm, winning against that anxiety of a future that isn't even real at that time.   06:16 – “A lot of people that struggle with not becoming successful even though they want to be successful badly is because they deal with physical and mental health issues that are stopping them.” You can be a master of your emotions and still feel triggered at certain random things. But, unfortunately, the world we live in is too good at criticizing.     Key Takeaways  “As a society, we've been conditioned and trained to do that stuff, but that's not where the real wealth is. The real wealth is in the present moment; it's in being.”   “If you study the six human needs, the first human need is that of needing certainty. We crave certainty.”   “Just because you feel like something is safe doesn't mean you're safe at all. And just because you feel like there's danger or you're scared doesn't mean there's any imminent danger.”   “A lot of people that struggle with not becoming successful even though they want to be successful badly is because they deal with physical and mental health issues that are stopping them.”   “We're so underdeveloped as a human species and civilization. We're very technologically developed to a certain point, but as far as being a community and loving spiritual consciousness, stuff like that, we're like just out of the Stone Age, how critical and mean we are to other people, and how people ganging up on each other online, and everybody's fighting, people in the world. Do you feel like you're unworthy and things won't work the way you want them to be just because you're now in your 40s with clear physical signs of aging? I recently turned 39, just a year away from turning 40, and it's no doubt noticed that my gray hairs keep on popping out these days. And as we age, we tend to think that we're not really successful just because we're getting old. Well, let me tell you this – yes, we're getting old, but that in and of itself is a gift!   Join me today as I tell you why and encourage you to live your golden years in peace, overcoming your past, and helping people do good things!     “You are so much more; you are so infinite. Therefore, a couple of gray hairs on your head shouldn't have you stumped for too long, because if you're too stumped and upset about it, then that just means that you're just resisting evolution. Evolution is evolution. Embrace it. It's awesome. Everything's gonna be okay.”   – Keith Kalfas     Why do you have to listen to today's episode. 02:54 – “You can go into depression, but sometimes, unless you have a real serious problem, you don't have to stay there.”  When bad things happen, we unconsciously stay there, clinging to these old identities, allowing us to not face the next chapter of our life.   05:12 – “Maybe I'm a late bloomer, but it's not easy for a guy in his 20s to perceive himself as a mature, masculine man.”  Gray hairs can also be a wonderful thing, letting people recognize you as an adult and not just some kid. I once had a client who referred to me as a kid, and I almost got mad at him, but then I realized maybe he did because I perceived and carried myself like a kid.   10:08 – “When you become an old man, those are supposed to be your golden years, where you have projects that are passion projects, or maybe you're retired, but you are doing and living life on your terms, and you're healthy, and you're vibrant.”  Your old man years should be your golden years. Live your life in bliss. You wouldn't want to grow up as a bitter old man. Consciousness is not bound by space and time.   15:57 – “You're so trapped in the past and why things might not work that you can't even let go of that bullshit for a second to just wake the fuck up and realize that you are crushing it right now.”  Feeling unworthy is like bad programming; you start thinking, and it flows, and you feel it. Don't sell out on your life, on your dreams. Come from a space of conscious choice and know that you're worthy.   19:40 – “When you're at peace, and you transmit peace, others around you will feel calmer, and their day will be calmer.”  People can't move towards real wealth because they don't have themselves figured out. Success in the industry starts from your success from within. Be at peace.   26:53 – “Somebody else's negative behavior doesn't have to affect you.”  Just because it feels comfortable doesn't mean it's good for you. Sometimes, a season of discomfort might be what's necessary for you to evolve and move on. You can and you will.     Key Takeaways  “Anything that has to be forced, if you're trying to force yourself to be perfect, it's a really, really long, hard, painful road, that it comes with a lot of self-inflicted punishment and unnecessary suffering that you don't deserve.”   “If you let go and let God, and realize you're in your late 30s, everything's gonna be okay, because this is going to be the best chapter of your life now, and it's gonna get even better. Why would you want to not go into that?”   “The highest level of worthiness you can be is what you give and what you contribute.”   “You have to accept that if you have fingers and toes and breath in your lungs, and you have health, and you can get up, and you can shower and bathe yourself, and have friendships and a marriage and a relationship with yourself, and you can just do all the things without being totally inhibited, you have a form of amazing wealth.”   Connect with Keith   Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn Resources/People Mentioned:   My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast  Jocko Willink: YouTube podcast Tony Robbins: Website James Clear's book: Atomic Habits Eckhart Tolle: Website Dr. David R. A Story About Landscaping Prices and Belief Systems | Push Through To The Next Level

Do you charge your clients too little and believe that's all you can get because your current reality made you think that that is only what your customers can afford? I've gone through the same experience, wherein I got trapped in such a kind of thinking. But then, later, I realized I'm worth more than what I'm getting. Therefore, I decided to combine two topics for you today. First, I want to help you believe in yourself. Put your faith in yourself and get where you want to go. Please join me on this episode as we make the seemingly impossible a reality.     “Feeling worthy is the number one common denominator that will make the difference of where your life will be.”  – Keith Kalfas     Why do you have to listen to today's episode.   00:34 – “When I did all the math, it came up to like $6,000. I sent them a very detailed, organized quote, and they didn't respond… When they revealed their numbers to me, my mind was absolutely blown.” In the early days of my business, I was approached by a Homeowners Association to provide a quote for landscaping their subdivision entrance. Unfortunately, they chose not to hire me at my price after I did the math. Seeing how much other companies tried to charge them really blew my mind.   05:34 – “When you're there every day, and you're looking at it and breathing it, and you're in it, you actually start to solidify this biology of belief that that's all that exists because that's what you see.” Think about a completely different peak and set of beliefs outside the space that you are in right now. Yes, you will have to change some things, but the opportunity is still there. Believing in it is all it takes.   08:25 – “Feeling worthy is the number one common denominator that will make the difference of where your life will be.”  It's all about knowing your worth. Believe that you're worthy of the life you want, and the things that seemed out of reach for you will just become normal.   12:51 – “The moment you decide that you're worthy, it just starts to show up for you.” Whenever you feel an anxiety gap, don't let the blueprint inside you stop you from living the life of your dreams. There are plenty of examples all around you; just look around where people are living their dreams.   16:34 – “There's this practical, tangible side of the reality that is different than the aesthetic side.” You need a vehicle to get you to where you want to be. The right vehicle drives you to success.     Key Takeaways  “When you're there every day, and you're looking at it and breathing it, and you're in it, you actually start to solidify this biology of belief that that's all that exists because that's what you see.”   “I want to implore you to imagine that there is an entire fleet different peak, there's an entirely different stratosphere, there's an entirely different whole new set of beliefs that are one breath away for you, and it's just outside of the vibration of your current reality or what you believe. You're going to have to step out of faith, try something different, talk to different people, go to a different marketplace, change the way you offer your services, your website, your communication.”   “I want to see you succeed, and I want to see your business grow and prosper so you can have the business that you love. So if you're charging way too little, and you believe that's all that you can get, just check your beliefs and don't listen to yourself. Get around really, really hyper-successful people who have abundance in their consciousness and have positive expectancy, and they live, and they breathe abundance. That's how you get that excessive cash flow, and you get that money in the bank you've always dreamt of.”   “The moment you decide that you're worthy, it just starts to show up for you. And if you need proof, look around at all the successful people all over the place and the people that maybe have the lifestyle or the family or the things that you want. These people didn't cross through a membrane from a different reality. They're not aliens. They're not better than you. They're not royalty. They're just people, and you're a person, too. You can have it.”   Connect with Keith   Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn     Resources/People Mentioned: My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast Grant Cardone: https://grantcardone.com/ Eminem: https://www.eminem.com/ Try Jill's office today and get a $25 discount when you say or type untrapped. After finishing a landscape project, what do you do next? Do you quickly get checks and receive payments? Do you save that invoice for tomorrow because you're too tired to send it right now? During this episode, I share with you why it's so critical for you to get paid quickly. Ensure the work is done, receive the check, and deposit it. Please do not let your business fail due to getting too comfortable allowing money to flow out!    “Understand that every single day that you wait, become lazy, or you don't have the energy to send that customer the invoice, or pick up the phone, or make sure that you're getting paid quickly, it's another day that there's a small percentage that keeps decreasing the likelihood that you will actually even get paid.” - Keith Kalfas     Why do you have to listen to today's episode.   01:51– “Understand that every single day that you wait… or you don't have the energy to send that customer the invoice… it's another day that there's a small percentage that keeps decreasing the likelihood that you will actually even get paid.” Today, I'm here to discuss why you must get paid in your landscaping business on time, as I remind you to send your customers an invoice.   03:55 – “Every time I get a check, no matter what I'm doing, the second that check goes into my hand, I get in my truck, it gets cashed and mobile deposit immediately.”  My business has a rule where I put receipts, cashed checks, and deposited checks in zippered pockets, and whenever a deposit happens, I add a small "D" to the bottom left corner. Invoices and records are easier to track this way.     06:04 – “Make sure you invoice your clients immediately. If you can't get paid immediately, send them an invoice immediately, and you'd want to get paid online.” The online payment convenience saves you a lot of time, energy, and money in running around. The faster you can get paid and get that money into your bank, the better. But make sure you send clients a receipt as well.   07:40 – “There's some things in life that are non-negotiables. They're things that you do no matter what; they're prioritized. And one of that, I think, in running your own small business is cashing those checks the second you get it and making sure you follow up with customers who owe you money.” We once had a customer who owed us money for a small residential job, and it took them six weeks to pay us. The majority of the time, people freak out but don't   11:04 – “Don't annoy them because you're scared. Just relax and know that they're probably going to pay you.” Please don't tell people that you were ripped off and that your business was damaged. Sometimes your customers are also busy, which is why your payment was delayed, or perhaps they are also getting paid late. Eventually, they'll pay you. As an alternative, you can ask for deposits and installments as options.   Key Takeaways  “Every time I get a check, no matter what I'm doing, the second that check goes into my hand, I get in my truck, it gets cashed and mobile deposit immediately.”   “Make sure you invoice your clients immediately. If you can't get paid immediately, send them an invoice immediately, and you'd want to get paid online.”   “The convenience of payment online saves you a lot of time and energy and money in running around. Marriage is one of the most important decisions in a person's life. The decision you make will change your life, as it will be with them that you will spend the rest of your days. The gift of finding someone of such rarity, beauty, and love is truly something to be thankful for. It is also possible to break all these beautiful things in a flash if you cannot let go of all your fears, your wounds from your past hurts. It is my desire for you to live in an environment where there is unwavering peace and love. I hope you join me as I talk about how to be a better man and water all the good plants in life.       “When you upgrade that identity, and you let go of that tiny little space that you can no longer fit into anymore, everything is going to be okay with you and your marriage.”    Keith Kalfas     Why do you have to listen to today's episode.   00:51 – “It doesn't matter how much wealth you have materialistically if you're not happy.”  We always look for epiphanies because it is through these that we live a blissful life. Join me today as I share one of the most beautiful epiphanies I've experienced.   01:50 – “Don't talk about that because you recede back to the older part of yourself that still might have residual pain, and then you just water that seed of feeling unworthy, feeling not good enough.”  When you have unhealed wounds, and you go back to scratch them from time to time, you will carry them with you for a very long time, which will then bring scarcity to your life.   05:29 – “If you focus on the wobble and try to say ‘What's wrong with me?' or even worse, ‘What's wrong with them? It's all them', the wobble gets more and more unsteady… And then ultimately, it could break up all types of things.”  Marrying someone is a serious decision to make. Grow up and be responsible for your own emotions. Otherwise, you might end up and even pull someone down from that place of pain. 07:31 – “Your marriage has really, really good and amazing stuff that you would never find anywhere else out there in the world.”  Focus on the good things, on the beauty of your marriage. Watch how much they shine when you water all the good plants.   11:10 – “When you upgrade that identity, and you let go of that tiny little space that you can no longer fit into anymore, everything is going to be okay with you and your marriage.”  Allow love in your life and in your marriage. Loosen your grip on fear. Let all the pain go and live in unconditional love and peace.     Key Takeaways  “We're always looking for epiphanies. And it's great when you have an epiphany because you get this profound understanding or insight on something that maybe is causing you grief or struggle, and now, the roadblocks are open, the resistance is gone, and you can just be like water and flow upward and onward to buoyancy and wellbeing in your life, to live a happy, holistic, healthy life and be happy, which is the highest form of wealth.”   “Don't talk about that because you recede back to the older part of yourself that still might have residual pain, and then you just water that seed of feeling unworthy, feeling not good enough.”   “If you focus on the wobble and try to say ‘What's wrong with me?' or even worse, ‘What's wrong with them? It's all them', the wobble gets more and more unsteady… And then ultimately, it could break up all types of things.”   “Your marriage has really, really good amazing stuff that you would never find anywhere else out there in the world. That's why you married your spouse -- because you saw these amazing things that you love so much about them that you knew didn't exist out there in the world. You found a diamond. You found something so rare and precious and so amazing that you felt so grateful and worthy enough to actually get married because you knew you could contribute those same qualities as well.”   “All the good things that you were hoping for and wishing for are all real. They're still real, even in pain. They're always real. They can not be because it's truth, and the truth is real.”   Connect with Keith   Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn   Resources/People Mentioned:   My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast Maximize your production in the field with Ballard Products. Do you feel like you are suffering while doing landscaping? Do you see that this business has so much delay on it, and whenever it happens, it makes you freak out which eventually scares your clients? Just like you, there was also a time when my emotions hijacked me. But you probably know this already – customers don't and won't care about what's happening behind the curtains! They only care about the results; they have no time for your excuses.   Join me today as I tell you why you shouldn't cry your problems out. Instead, be the calm, controlled, and trustable person your clients would always want to call for work.     “You are important, you are special, but everything that you got going on and that you think is so tumultuous, all that head trash and drama – it's all just a big deal because you're making it a big deal. Don't see it as a problem and just vibrate and gravitate to where and who you want to be and how you want to be. Because if you're making excuses all the time for anything, people just have no respect for you.”   – Keith Kalfas     Why do you have to listen to today's episode.   00:11 – “In your landscaping business, nobody cares what's going on inside, because all the customers care about is the results. They don't want to know anything about you.” In the jurisdiction of business, people won't care about the stress, the sacrifices, and the turmoil behind your product and/or service. So today, I'm here to remind you to control your emotions as you do business.   03:28 – “They might let you finish the job, but they might not ever hire you over again if you're gonna act like that.”  There was this time when I had to go through playing worst-case scenarios in my head as well. I freaked out; my emotions hijacked me. With this, I remind you to never act the same to a customer.   08:07 – “I can't guarantee him anything, so I just tell him a timeframe.” Delays come in the most unexpected moments, so now we only give clients a timeframe as we communicate for their deadlines. It saves us and the clients from blaming each other for delays.   09:58 – “You can't share any of that with the world; all of whatever stuff you got going on. And the more you have going on the more complexity that amplifies it.”  Living a simple life and having some free time is important. Even when work is work and clients only care about the results, make sure you still have time for your peace of mind.   15:59 – “If you see all of that as a problem, then it will be a problem because you view it as a problem and you feel like you're struggling and you got to fix it.” Treat the problems and the struggles as normal stuff. We all go through one, so don't see it as the reason for you to suffer. Make no excuses and be excellent at work. Be a calm, controlled, and trustable person to work with.   20:18 – “Why should I be happy right now? What do I have to be grateful for right now?” When you're suffering, you're actually choosing to suffer. Why not choose to handle it instead and do what you got to do? After all, where you are right now is the place you were only dreaming of five years ago.     Key Takeaways   “In your landscaping business, nobody cares what's going on inside, because all the customers care about is the results. They don't want to know anything about you.”   “You can't share any of that with the world; all of whatever stuff you got going on. And the more you have going on is the more complexity that amplifies it.”   “If you see all of that as a problem, then it will be a problem because you view it as a problem and you feel like you're struggling and you got to fix it.”   Connect with Keith   Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn     Resources/People Mentioned:  My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast Want to go to the GIE+EXPO 2022? Have you ever felt guilty for eating that cookie, taking it all for yourself, and feeling like you're such a bad guy for not sharing? There was this time in my life wherein I've gone through the same thing. I've felt bad about success, thinking that it wasn't meant for me. I used to think that everything I learn, I should always share with everybody. But then, I was enlightened that it was becoming detrimental to my own dreams. So today, I encourage you to go after those goals and receive those blessings. Believe me when I say that they are meant to be yours.   “Take a breath, receive the blessing, receive the compliment, receive the good news, and receive that piece of wisdom. That one was meant for you.”   – Keith Kalfas   Why do you have to listen to today's episode. 00:48 – “Whenever you hear a beautiful piece of information or something really wise, you have these deep levels of inspiration, and piece of advice comes to you at just the right time, and then you make progress…”  I was once a social media addict; I used to share literally everything that happens. But nowadays, I find myself spending less time on it.   02:44 – “I was actually afraid of success so I was sabotaging my own success and doing everything to help everybody else because I was too afraid and too guilty.”  Back then, whenever I learned something new, I would always share it with people, thinking that I should. Holding so much pride in myself for being a giver and creating value. But then I realized that it was holding me back from my own success, so I took a step back and embraced the fact that what comes my way is meant for me.   07:09 – “Take a breath, receive the blessing, receive the compliment, receive the good news, and receive that piece of wisdom. That one was meant for you.”  I worked hard on learning how to be not only a cheerful giver but also a cheerful receiver. You've got to learn how to receive good things in life because otherwise, you'll end up trapped in the dark.   09:54 – “I've never been this successful in my life and I'm getting more successful every single day. I literally cannot stop this upward momentum. I feel happier and healthier and more physically in shape, and my mind is cleaner.”  It's been a tough journey, learning what's real and what's not. There are some people who even tried to take me down, but that's okay; it happens. When you start to grow and shine, you'll really cast a shadow.   13:29 – “It's painful to grow, like a cocoon into a butterfly. It's a painful process. But I learned that to keep a caterpillar in the cocoon and keep wrapping that cocoon tighter and tighter so the caterpillar cannot transform and become a butterfly is way more painful.” Allow yourself to grow. Allow yourself to become successful. Allow yourself to experience your greatness. Allow yourself to become happy.     Key Takeaways “I started to stop and take a moment and say, wait a second. What if this amazing thing I just learned on this video or from this person or from this relationship, what if this was meant for me? What if this was meant just for Keith right now? And I stopped and I said, just breathe and practice receiving. And this is what doubled my income. It doubled my income, my revenue, in 24 months.”   “Other people's victim stories and unwillingness to grow and evolve in their own life will really be exposed, and there will be a spotlight put on them when you start to grow and you start to shine and you have such a big form that you start to cast a shadow.”   “It's painful to grow, like a cocoon into a butterfly. It's a painful process. But I learned that to keep a caterpillar in the cocoon and keep wrapping that cocoon tighter and tighter so the caterpillar cannot transform and become a butterfly is way more painful.” Connect with Keith   Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn     Resources/People Mentioned:   My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast Come see me at The Huge Convention in Nashville Tennesee this August 17th-19th, 2022. In today's episode, I encourage you to start your landscaping business. I know you're worried that the industry is saturated, but I tell you, it's not. The grass, shrubs, and trees on people's lawns will never stop growing; maintenance is necessary. That being said, let me ask you, "When will you do it?" Because if you ask me, I'll only say one thing – right now. Now is the right time to start your business and start crushing it.     “If you're trying to go full time in your business, if you're trying to get off the ground, right now is the time.”  – Keith Kalfas     Why do you have to listen to today's episode. 00:57 – “It's never too late to start a business.” It will never be too late to start a business. But, if you wait till next year, you are just prolonging and wasting your time. There are too many jobs around you. All you need to do is act now!   02:07 – “If you're trying to go full time in your business, if you're trying to get off the ground, right now is the time.” There's no better time to start than today, but your first step will still depend on your decision. When are you going to do it? Remember, you're the one in control.   03:24 – “The biggest thing that I learned is work creates work. It all starts with one side job.” When you work in neighborhoods, people around the area see you. You are being visible. You are being known. Later on, one work will lead to another.   03:58 – “The grass is always gonna grow. Trees are gonna grow. The plants and the shrubs will never stop growing. So it's a maintenance thing that's not going away. It's just a necessity.”  The landscaping industry isn't saturated. Landscaping plays an important role in people's life. The grass, shrubs, and trees never stop growing. It's never too late to start to do landscaping.   05:21 – Want to attend the GIE+EXPO 2022? If you had a real challenge, that would be finding all of the people and organizing them and getting all the systems together actually to get it all done. But the work's not a problem. If you're trying to go full-time in your business or get off the ground, right now is the time.” “The biggest thing that I learned is work creates work. It all starts with one side job.” “The grass is always gonna grow. Trees are gonna grow. The plants and the shrubs will never stop growing. So it's a maintenance thing that's not going away. 5 Days I NEVER book In My Landscaping Business

The Untrapped Podcast With Keith Kalfas

How many business days do you have in a week?  As I run my landscaping business, I've learned the importance of taking some time off to rest and recharge. So I book days on my calendar and spend more time with my family.  It has tremendously helped me, for I could work without burnout. That's why I share my five emergency days in this episode and why they're important. Because same as how important your business is, your health and well-being should also matter.  Tune in and learn from this episode.       “Find out what your days are that you're going to be taking off or you can't do stuff, and book out days before that. Do not book customers on those days. It's tempting when you're with a customer, and they want us to do a $3,500 or $10,000 job right now, and you're making that promise to a customer. That's risky business because you're banking on the hope that everything's gonna go perfect; that it's not going to rain, there won't be equipment failures and breakdowns and everything, and that doesn't happen; a perfect world.”   – Keith Kalfas     Why do you have to listen to today's episode.     01:02 – Have emergency days on your calendar. Not having these can eventually lead to a hurt business. 01:52 – I take the whole week off on the fourth of July – the end of the business' 100 days of hell. 04:27 – The Parkinson's Law says that whatever space you give something, it will fill. The same thing happens in business. 06:59 – It's tempting when a customer asks for an urgent $10,000 job, but make sure not to book customers on your emergency days. 08:00 – Nashville, Tennessee, August 17th to 19th Window cleaners, pressure/soft washers, and landscapers Go to https://www.keithkalfas.com/events and save 25 bucks off your ticket. GIE+Expo on October 20th Go to https://www.keithkalfas.com/events for discounts as well. 09:34 – Also, I've teamed up with Kory Ballard, the founder of Ballard Products. Check the info below on how you can get discounts.   Key Takeaways “What we do is we take the entire week off. The fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh – whatever the fourth lands on, we take that whole. Let's say the fourth ends up Tuesday. We take the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth – all the way through Sunday off, then we come back to work the following Monday. I take a week off, and whoever's working for me gets a week off as well. That way, we don't burn out.”  “I've learned that I need to take some time off and spend it with my family because if you don't take some time off and go on a little whatever canoe trip, it's not good.” “I've learned now that no matter what, there's always going to be more customers that want stuff done.”    Connect with Keith   Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn     Resources/People Mentioned:   My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast My Events Page: https://www.keithkalfas.com/events   Nashville, Tennessee August 17th to 19th Window cleaners, pressure/soft washers, and landscapers Go to https://www.keithkalfas.com/events and save 25 bucks off your ticket.   GIE+Expo October 20 Go to https://www.keithkalfas.com/events for discounts as well.
