Our Outro Music is Results Parade from the Check Mii Out Channel on the Wii, composed by Kazumi Totaka.    Produced using Ardour 6 / Audacity 3 in Ubuntu Studio [Linux] 22.04    A few important milestones in 2020 / 2021 that I had failed to mention in the intro, but which deserve mentioning:    A) we had our first Ch 1 episode by Hugues (which was also the first Ch 1 in the entire show's history that St. John had absolutely no hand whatsoever in producing. It was a focus on music fromFalcomgames, and was quite succinctly named "The Falcom Episode"    B) We made the migration from producing Nerd Noise Radio in GarageBand via MacOS on a mac mini (and using primarily MP3s in production – mostly through YouTube-to-MP3 websites) to producing NNR in a mix of Audacity andArdourvia Ubuntu Studio (Linux) on a mix of a Dell Latitude Laptop and my custom-built gaming PC (and using primarily WAVs in production – mostly through the youtube-dl command in the Linux terminal). The last episode to be produced in Mac was C1E52: Backtracks (April 1st 2020) and the first episode to be produced in Linux was Channel F: Backtracks – the OTHER 50 (April or May 2020). I feel like the production value on balance is noticeably and appreciably better after the change. And since Hugues is also a Linux user, that means that both sides of our Channel 2 episodes are Linux productions.    You can find the Google Sheets spreadsheet showing St. John's work in arriving at his tracklist for this episode here (WARNING: MILD SPOILERS! Today's “F-isode” is the complete collection of all music from season 1 of Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 2 (Sept 2020 - Sept 2021) ***PLUS***, the music from Hugues and I's December 2019 Channel F “one-off” that would go on to retroactively become the template, and “unofficial ‘beta'” for Channel 2. Though much longer, and a bit more clunky and unpolished, it is otherwise identical in format and fundamentally similar in delivery to what would go on to become the later Channel 2 “official episodes”.    Now, this collection is JUST the music from these episodes, with all the conversation between Hugues and I scrubbed. However, I will provide iTunes links to each of the full episodes (plus the full beta) so that you can listen to these tracks IN CONTEXT if you wish, and can hear everything we had to say about them.   Part of the reason I had included the tracks from the 2019 beta is to show where we've come from. Part of it is to show where we're going. Part of it is simply because it's full of really, really great music that you may have otherwise missed. And lastly, since starting with the “Best of 2020 / 2021” episodes in 2022, music from Channel F “F-isodes” will be eligible, unlike they were in 2020 for “Best of 2019”, I wanted to include them here now so that they'd finally be available to you or I for inclusion in our respective “best ofs”.   But the single biggest reason for my sharing these with you now, in November of 2021 is simply to hopefully build some excitement for and engagement with December's “Best of Channel 2 - Season 1” episode, which Hugues and I will meet to produce, and will feature a grand total of 26 tracks, ***ALL OF WHICH*** pulled from today's collection of 92 - two tracks per host per episode, plus one “wild card”  track pick per host. So, which 26 will we pull, and which 66 will we leave behind? And how well or poorly will our 26 align with the 26 that you, the listener, may have theoretically picked for yourself and/or predicted that we might pull?   In December, we'll all find out together. And afterwards, you'll have to be sure to reach out to us to let us know! In the meanwhile, here's the source material we'll be pulling from: first, the 70 tracks from “Season 1 proper”, plus the 22 from 2019 in our beta afterwards. I hope you'll enjoy! Please get a hold of us on FB, or Twitter, or through e-mail at nerdnoiseradio@gmail.com with what your picks, and/or your guess of what our picks will be, and if we get them in time, we may even mention them, and engage with them during the episode! If you DO decide to play along, pick one “Hugues track”, one “St. John track”, and one wildcard, so we're dealing with the same number of tracks (as well as what your guesses are for our picks).   Cheers!   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   C2E1: “Songs of the Pandemic” (Orig. Today's rerun was a VERY special occasion that I'm very excited to get to share anew. It was a Channel F "F-isode", originally broadcast December 19th, 2019 that at the time was intended to be nothing more than just a fun "one off" between two friends and fellow podcasters. And yet, it ended up becoming something so much more than that. Though not intended to be at the time, and though it will probably never "officially" be classified as such, it has retroactively become something of a "beta", or a "pilot", or maybe an "Episode Zero" for what would go onto become "Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 2". Though this trial run is much longer than a standard Channel 2 episode - because it contains nearly twice as many tracks, and though the conversation and production are clunkier, the basic formatting is fundamentally the same, and thus, this really can be retroactively considered to "the birth of Channel 2". NNR Reruns: "Backtracks - The OTHER 50!" (orig rel 04/28/2020)

Editor's Note: There's a very special reason why chose today's episode for this month's rerun. And it's not just because it originally released one year ago today....   ....it's that because of a technical glitch on the podcast feed....you never got to hear it in its entirety.   Here's the story: originally a Channel F "F-isode", and originally released 04/28/2020, it was meant to supplement C1E52: "Backtracks", a focus on VGM that we played in reverse, ostensibly as last year's April Fool's gag. Only, as the intro to today's rerun reveals, it wasn't a gag after all, but instead, we were simply using the occasion of the gag as a cover for a subject too weird for many - if presented as the serious study that it was.   It also had the distinction of being the very first episode I had ever produced in Linux. Other than for the recordings of my voice in the end of 2019 "looking back" pair that we collectively referred to as "The Golden Episode", and most of the voices of my family in C1E51, "the birthday episode", which were all done in the Audio Evolution studio [Android] app in ChromeOS on a cheap old Chromebook, everything I had done up to this point had been done in GarageBand on macOS. I had been wanting to make the jump for some time, and with "The Other 50", I finally took the plunge, using a mix of Audacity, and at that time, Ardour 5 in Ubuntu Studio 19.10 (I've since upgraded to Ardour 6 and Ubuntu Studio 20.04).   I am convinced that Ardour and Audacity allow for better production, by way of cleaner, louder, fuller productions. And I'm much happier working under them than I was using the old methods. But if there's one thing they lack, it's the user-friendliness of GarageBand. And so, little things like start and end timers don't automatically move as you add files sometimes, and I have to remember to manually move them, lest some of the beginning or the end get cut off of the final production.   And that's exactly what happened here. The original draft of the file was missing the final, well, approx 30 minutes of the show. The trouble is, I didn't realize it until AFTER I had already uploaded it to podbean. SO, I went back in, deleted the bad file, and replaced it with the good one. But since the file names were the same, it doesn't appear to have made the swap up on the server, and if you go back to the original episode today, it still cuts off early. At least it does on the iTunes website.    So, the most significant reason for today's rerun is to finally allow you to hear the entire production. If the backwards music drove you nuts, fear not: after today, I don't plan to rerun them again until we get close to April Fool's 2026, which will be a Backtracks sequel. However, if this is the first you're hearing of the Backtracks series, and you like it, definitely scroll back on the feed through the back catalog of episodes, find C1E52 "Backtracks", and give it a listen. On balance, after a year to reflect on it, I really do think the original was better than this supplement. And besides, that outro! Oh my goodness, that Outro!!! Tracklist with timestamps below. Also, here's a link to the an Blogspot post which links to several of the Backtracks series Archive.org-exclusive SUPER BONUSES with additional content:   http://nerdnoiseradio.blogspot.com/2020/04/track-lists-for-backtracks-and-other-50.html?m=1   I hope you will enjoy today's rerun, at long last, presented in its entirety!   Cheers! -----------------------------------------------------------------   Track# – Track Name – Game – System – Composer – From Collection – Original Episode – Timestamp    01) Intro – 00:00:00  02) Options – Daffy Duck in Hollywood – Genesis – Matt Furniss – Best of 2017 – Ep 12 – 00:12:13  03) September 2015 – N/A (eShop) - 3DS / WiiU – Kazumi Totaka – Golden Personal – Ep 6 – 00:16:33  04) The Mall – Skate or Die 2 – NES – Rob Hubbard – Best of 2018 – Ep 22 – 00:19:44  05) Evil Dante – Cratermaze – TG16 - Jun Chikuma, Keita Hoshi, Toshiaki Takimoto, Masaru Takahashi, and/or Takayuki Iwabuchi – Miscellaneous – Ep 47b – 00:21:21  06) Character Select – Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Best of 2017 – Ep 13 – 00:23:01  07) Ethnic Cave and Flame – X-Men – Arcade – Konami Kukeiha Club – Best of 2017 – Ep 10 – 00:25:06  08) Jazz 3 – Sim Copter – PC – Jerry Martin – Best of 2018 – Ep 35 – 00:27:36  09) Reckless Running – Sega Rally Championship – Saturn – Naofumi Hataya – Best of 2018 – Ep 24 – 00:32:38  10) Collision Chaos Zone (Present) – Sonic CD (US) – Sega CD – Spencer Nilsen w/ David Young and Mark Crew – Best of 2017 – Ep 15 – 00:36:45  11) Main Menu – Sonic Mania – Multiplatform – Tee Lopes – Best of 2018 – Ep 36 – 00:40:02  12) Opening 1 – Hisou Kihei X-Serd – PC Engine – Koji Hayama – Golden Popular – Ep 11 – 00:41:10  13) Brinstar (Red Soil) – Super Metroid – SNES – Kenji Yamamoto and/or Minako Hamano – Miscellaneous – Ep 18 – 00:42:56  14) Stage 3-3 – Ai Chou Aniki – PC Engine – Iwasaki Taku – Miscellaneous – Ep 47b – 00:46:40  15) Options – Bram Stoker’s Dracula – Genesis – Matt Furniss – Best of 2017 – Ep 2 – 00:50:00  16) The Vile Peaks – Final Fantasy XIII – PS3 – Masashi Hamauzu – Best of 2017 – Ep 10 – 00:51:26  17) Twilight Palace (Outside) – L.o.Z.: Twilight Princess – GameCube / Wii – Toru Minegishi and/or Asuka Ota – Best of 2017 – Ep 4 – 00:54:49  18) Outside Ref, The Pyramid of Ice – Dungeon Explorer 2 – PC Engine – Masaaki Inoue and/or Akihiro Honma – Golden Personal – Ep 47b – 00:58:00  19) After the Battle – L.o.Z.: Twilight Princess – GameCube / Wii – Golden Personal – Ep 4 –01:00:05  20) The Vertical – Ghost in the Shell – PS1 – Joey Beltram – Best of 2017 – Ep 16 – 01:02:23  21) Spin on the Bridge – Streets of Rage 2 – Genesis – Yuzo Koshiro and/or Motohiro Kawashima – Best of 2018 – Ep 31 – 01:08:44  22) Cycle 1 – Streets of Rage 3 – Genesis – Motohiro Kawashima and/or Yuzo Koshiro – Best of 2017 – Ep 2 – 01:13:03  23) Track 11 – Illusion Blaze – PC (AdLib) - D.A.C. – Golden Personal – Ep 2 – 01:16:12  24) Naruto (Light Armor) - Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Golden Popular – Ep 13 –  01:18:45  25) Bases 1 & 2 – Contra NES – c: Kazuki Muaoka / a: Hidenori Maezawa and/or Kiyohiro Sada – Best of 2018 – Ep 34 – 01:20:31  26) Imperial Death March – Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back – NES – c: John Williams / a: Paul Webb – Golden Popular – Ep 9 – 01:22:05  27) Fly Like a Butterfly – Jet Set Radio Future – XBox – Hideki Naganuma – Golden Personal – Ep 20 – 01:22:43  28) At Doom’s Gate – DOOM – PC (Midi) - Bobby Prince – Golden Popular – Ep 35 – 01:25:59  29) Alone in Love – Jewelmaster – Genesis – Motoaki Takenouchi – Golden Popular – Ep 24 – 01:29:13  30) Naja – Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Best of 2017 – Ep 13 – 01:31:26 31) Swamp – Samurai Ghost – TG16 – Gappy, Miyoshi Okuyama, and/or Hiroyon – Best of 2017 – Ep 20 – 01:33:36  32) Segadore Genesid 64 – N/A (Non-VGM) – N/A (Genesis) – MrSonic699 – Best of 2018 – Ep 28 – 01:34:43  33) Stage Theme 4 – Shinobi – Arcade – Yasuhiro Kawakami – Golden Popular – Ep 2 – 01:36:48  34) Title Theme – Double Dragon – NES – Kazunaka Yamane – Golden Popular – Ep 1 – 01:38:24  35) Field 3 – J.J. and Jeff – TG16 – Takeaki Kunimoto – Miscellaneous – Ep 47b – 01:40:05  36) Zena Lan (Light Armor) – Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Golden Personal – Ep 13 – 01:42:07  37) Bearhattan Transfur – Fist of Awesome – Multiplatform – Brendan Ratliff – Best of 2018 – Ep 30 – 01:44:22  38) Map – Wolfchild – Genesis – Matt Furniss – Best of 2017 – Ep 12 – 01:47:47  39) Tyr (Heavily Armored) – Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Golden Personal – Ep 13 – 01:49:03  40) Level 1 – Chip Chan Kick – PCFX – Yoshio Furakawa, Masahara Iwata, and Hitoshi Sakamoto Best of 2017 – Ep 4 – 01:50:46  41) Stage Theme 1 – Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six – NES – David Whittaker – Golden Popular – Ep 18 – 01:55:13  42) S.O.R. Another extended play, very non-standard format, very talk-heavy retrospective of the first 49 episodes and three years of the show - in the style of an old W.A.R.T. Radio episode meets The Diad Presents meets Sound Test Roulette meets VGM Jukebox – multiple short micro-music-blocks with talking between.   Part 2 is "personal picks" - picks that I really like myself, most of which were near picks from my previous two "Best of 20XX – John's Picks" episodes - 1 track from each previous episode (minus best-of episodes), tracks chosen by either John or the listeners in any "Best of 20XX" installment are ineligible for The Golden Episode (and if a track that appeared in say, Episode 2, was chosen, but it also appears in Episode 17, 36, and 48, it is stricken from the eligible pool all the same. Each track must be totally unique to a "Wayback Wednesday" episode of NNR, which narrows the playing field, both in terms of tracks I can pick for myself as well as tracks I can pick for the listeners (part 1).   Each micro-music-block will be five tracks long, and each will represent the episode which it comes from. Rather than the usual NNR practice of focusing on the music block creating a logical, pleasing "flow", the Golden Episode (both parts one and two) will focus  instead on playing the tracks in episode order. So they won't flow nearly as well (unless by happy accident). But they will run in the order in which they appeared in the history of the show. Differing priorities this time. A typical NNR episode is all about a "journey through sound", and of course, this episode is that as well to some extent, but the real priority here is not about being a "journey through sound", but instead, is about being a "journey through time".   Here are the tracklists for the micro-music blocks for part 2, the "personal picks" installment:   Show Intro Music: somer assault (episode 1) - 00:00:00   Block 1 – Episodes 1-5 (2017 – part 1)   BGM Block 1 Music: yuukai douchuuki arcade (Episode 2)   Spoken Introduction - 00:05:04   01) Title – Spider-Man / X-Men – SNES – Tim and/or Geoff Follin - 00:13:06 02) Track 11 – Illusion Blaze – DOS – D.AC. - 00:14:07 03) Aitos – Actraiser – SNES – Yuzo Koshiro - 00:16:41 04) After the Battle – Loz: TP – Gamecube / Wii – Toru Minegishi and/or Asuka Ohta - 00:19:24 05) The Mechanic – Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake – MSX (SCC) - The Konami Kukeiha Club - 00:21:40   Block 2 – Episodes 6-10 (2017 – part 2)   BGM Block 2 Music: Fushigi no Umi no Nadia (episode 10)   Spoken Introduction - 00:23:42   06) September 2015 - N/A (System Music) - 3DS / WiiU – Kazumi Totaka - 00:30:22 07) Jiji Theme – Sword of Vermilion – Genesis – Hiroshi Kawaguchi and/or Yasuhiro Takagi - 00:33:33 08) Citizens of Luala - N/A (Battle of the Bits) - N/A (TG16) - Strobe - 00:34:18 09) Juno Unleashed – The Force Unleashed – Multi – Mark Griskey - 00:37:19 10) Space Opera – Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose – SNES – Kazuhiko Uehara and/or Yukie Morimoto - 00:38:23   Block 3 – Episodes 11-15 (2017 – part 3)   BGM Block 3 Music: Tyr (Heavy Armor) - Cosmic Carnage (Episode 13)   Spoken Introduction - 00:41:06   11) Enemy Turn (Stages 6-10) - Hisou Kihei X-Serd – PC Engine – Masaya Sound Team - 00:53:06 12) Stage 1 – Alien 3 – Genesis – Matt Furniss - 00:54:28 13) Zena Lan (Light Armor) - Cosmic Carnage  - 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto - 00:56:59 14) Lazarus (feat. St. John of "Nerd Noise Radio" and Hugues Johnson of "Retro Game Club" (and "The Retro League" alum) join forces to cover and discuss some of their favorite pieces of VGM from the 2010's.It's about what you'd expect if you put Retro Game Club / The Retro League, Nerd Noise Radio, Legacy Music Hour, and an entire decade of VGM in a blender....ooh, or maybe the hadron collider! For the time-being, this is just a one-time "one-off" special, but if there is enough demand from either, or especially both of our respective listener pools, then we're open to making this an ongoing (albeit occasional, and likely irregular) thing. "Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 2", maybe? ;-)Anyway, the power is yours, listeners! Make your voices heard! In the meanwhile? An extended play, very non-standard format, very talk-heavy retrospective of the first 49 episodes and three years of the show - in the style of an old W.A.R.T. Radio episode meets The Diad Presents meets Sound Test Roulette meets VGM Jukebox – multiple short micro-music-blocks with talking between.   Part 1 is "popular picks" - picks that I thought would be picks likely to be chosen by the listeners (a "John's Best Guess on Listener Picks" episode) - 1 track from each previous episode (minus best-of episodes), tracks chosen by either John or the listeners in any "Best of 20XX" installment are ineligible for The Golden Episode (and if a track that appeared in say, Episode 2, was chosen, but it also appears in Episode 17, 36, and 48, it is stricken from the eligible pool all the same. Each track must be totally unique to a "Wayback Wednesday" episode of NNR, which narrows the playing field, both in terms of tracks I can pick for the listeners, as well as tracks I can pick for myself (part 2)). 03:45:46   Music Block Runtime: 03:45:00, Total Episode Runtime: 03:46:28   SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT THIS "THE BEST OF 2018" PROJECT (this is a near exact repeat of the notes from part 1 if you read those): This is a once-a-year project that appears in two parts: a listener-picked part 1, which is more or less a standard episode, other than that the tracks are all pulled from episodes we released in the previous calendar year, and that those tracks were selected by the listeners, rather than myself. You heard that episode last week. This one, part 2, is all my picks, and is a MONSTER! 75 tracks, 3hr 45min! There are several reasons that we only resort to that kind of length just once a year. In part, to make it special and an event when it does happen, in part to not overwhelm the listeners and chase them off with it, and lastly…because it's a TON of work! :-D   One thing I like about the format of this once-a-year project is that it favors both the listeners and your host in differing ways. The listeners get the first word, with their episode releasing first. The listeners also get first dibs on any tracks, so if we both want the same track(s), they get them, and I don't. In this case, that happened with 16 tracks. In all those ways, this project favors the listeners. But then, where I come out on top is that I get the last word. Whereas the listeners only get 30-50 tracks to split amongst however many contributors we have (in this case, five), I come along afterwards, with an unreasonably gigantic allowance of 75 tracks….that I get all to myself.   Also, while the regular episodes are me trying to balance tracks I love with tracks that I think the listeners will like (which admittedly has something of a me-centric slant already), this 75 track outing is my one and only time a year where I don't have to worry about that balance at all, but is my lone shot of the year for complete, wanton, reckless hedonism. This one is all about me, baby! It's Papa's birthday! :-D But, if you ever wanted to get the clearest possible glance at where your intrepid host's own personal musical heartbeat lies…the 7X track John's Picks Best of 20XX episodes will be the best place to look, as all the filters are off…   ...well, save one: I make it a personal rule to include at least one track from every episode in my collection, even if that episode didn't have anything that would've otherwise made the list. Taris Apartments from C1E9 likely wouldn't have made my Best of 2017 outing last year, and neither Copacabana '93 from the April Fool's Episode (C1E26a), or maybe even Chill Penguin from C1E26, or Base 1 & 2 from C1E34 would've been likely to make my list this year either had it not been for my hard and fast rule to include at least one track from every episode. On the other hand, Taris Apartments, Copacabana '93, Chill Penguin, and Base 1 & 2 are all at least my actual favorite tracks from their given episodes.   Before I ever even approach any of the listeners for tracks, I already have a list of my own made up with a shorter auxiliary list of backups, and even a third list of backups to the backups, so that even if every single track the listeners pick is on my list, I still have enough in reserve to make my full 75. I get my 75 no matter what, but I can also stay completely out of the listener's way in picking tracks, and let them have everything they want. A win win for the both of us!   One last note about the Best of 20XX series (and this is true of both installments):   While it’s totally a labor of love, not only for myself, but also for the contributing listeners, it is also quite an undertaking for me - and in ways deeper than simply putting 105-125 tracks together! What it amounts to, metaphorically speaking, is my lining up all the statues I’ve sculpted over the previous year, and slicing little chunks out of them to use as building blocks to create an all new statue with the goal of making the new statues resemble the previous statues as little as possible.   A good song flow is more important than any of the following rules (and so any of the following are breakable – and were all broken at points – to make the flow work), but what else is going on besides simple song flow management is that I’m also trying to avoid placing tracks from the same episode too close together, or placing too many of the tracks in the same relative vicinity within the new music block as they were in their old music blocks, and even things like trying (in part 1) to limit the number of times where I feature tracks from the same listener back to back (though this rule was my lowest priority, and was the first to go out the window when there was a conflict).   I’m trying to use pieces of music that already have relational connotations in my mind to other pieces of music by way of the earlier episodes to create all new connotations with them. I will tell you that that’s much harder than it sounds. It adds a lot of cognitive "weight" to the processing load, because it creates reflexes with each piece that you now have to work against, more or less. In fact, each of our music blocks saw one or two scrapped iterations before I finally arrived at a track order that worked. And as is the case with part 2, when you’re staring at a list of 75 tracks, and asking yourself “what the hell am I supposed to do with these?”, it really makes you want to just curl into the fetal position on the floor!   But it’s also a lot of fun, and most of all, it gives me a chance to create all new art from existing art, and all new journeys and experiences from existing journeys and experiences. And so, at the end of the day, it’s all joy for me. I hope it will be for you as well, as the listener, and most of all, I hope that the contributing listeners will feel like I did their picks justice. Each of their contributions, from Jeshua’s three tracks all the way to Purnell’s twenty all mean the world to me. These episodes – both theirs and mine, are my love letter back.   As a bonus, for the curious, here is the list of backup tracks from my list that were not picked, and appear in neither episode (some of them I REALLY wanted, though):   Track, Game, System, Composer, Episode (spaces placed between episodes to better highlight)   1) Whisper and Mantra – Secret of Mana – SNES – Hiroki Kikuta - Next week, you will hear part 2, which is all my picks, and is a MONSTER! Before I ever even approach any of the listeners for tracks, I already have a list of my own made up with a shorter auxiliary list of backups, and even a third list of "backups to the backups", so that even if every single track the listeners pick is on my list, I still have enough in reserve to make my full 75. …..alright, and now, for all the regular "housekeeping" stuff. :-)   The "Nerd Noise Radio - RERUNS!" channel can be found here:   https://www.buzzsprout.com/77944/   or here   https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/nerd-noise-radios-podcast/id1191400767   You can also find all of our audio episodes on Archive.org   Our YouTube Channel can be found here:   https://www.youtube.com/user/NerdNoiseRadio   Our episodes (and occasionally, other content) can be found on our blog here:   nerdnoiseradio.blogspot.com.   Nerd Noise Radio is also available on The Retro Junkies Network at www.theretrojunkies.com, and is a member of the VGM Podcast Fans community at   https://www.facebook.com/groups/VGMPodcastFans/   Or, if you wish to connect with us directly, we have two groups of our own:   Nerd Noise Radio - Easy Mode: https://www.facebook.com/groups/276843385859797/ for sharing tracks, video game news, or just general videogame fandom.   Nerd Noise Radio - Expert Mode: https://www.facebook.com/groups/381475162016534/ for going deep into video game sound hardware, composer info, and/or music theory.   Lastly, you can also follow us on Twitter at @NerdNoiseRadio.   Thanks for listening! Jonny welcomes Michael "TYP" Cole of Radio Trivia: Podcast Edition to showcase video game music in quite a different way. For this episode of DMP, we focus on the quirky output of electronic composer Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka, the man behind many familiar Nintendo songs from the 80s and early 90s. Anyone could recognize at least a few of these songs, but we tried to set the context of Tanaka's work for gamers and non-gamers alike. You couldn't ask for a much better expert than Mike, and Jonny knows a little about this stuff as well. Listing every single song would be overkill, but here are the classic games we cover on the show, plus a couple of odd non-game singles at the end. 1. Wild Gunman (NES) 2. Urban Champion (NES) 3. Gyromite (NES) 4. Stack-Up (NES) 5. Balloon Fight (Arcade/NES) 6. Gumshoe (NES) 7. Kid Icarus (NES) 8. Metroid (NES) 9. Mother (NES) 10. Earthbound a.k.a. Mother 2 (SNES) 11. Super Mario Land (GB) 12. Tetris (GB) 13. Game Boy Camera (GB) 14. The Hirokazu Tanaka Song 15. HVC-1384 (Play for Japan) Encore: Tim and Geoff Follin -- Silver Surfer (NES) If you enjoyed this show, be sure to look for Radio Trivia: Podcast Edition on iTunes and at NintendoWorldReport.com to hear much more excellent video game music. This week, we see a special downside to posting a couple days after recording - much of this episode was spent on predictions for E3, and Microsoft had a pre-E3 press event where many predictions CAME TRUE! Thanks for waiting up. Boter touched on a couple points very fast after the episode proper - don't want any of you wiseasses thinking we're unprofessional. After last week's recording ran into technical difficulties, Boter and FearTheClaw decide to do those topics over again this week - namely, that they've been playing Snoopy Flying Ace and Red Dead Redemption, respectively. They then talk about Mocrosoft's and Sony's motion controllers and predictions about E3 press for them - Natal's official name, price points, and release dates. They discuss Rock Band 3 and give a few more rapid-fire predictions for E3.Check out last week's recording here: Episode 43.Stay tuned next week for an hour-long E3 roundup episode.Subscribe and listen (or just listen) to the podcast over at our FeedBurner page.
