Episode 619. Pyro John Watkins first appeared on Three Sides in 2019 to just share his many stories or the many bands he toured with doing pyro, including KISS on the Dynasty, Hot In The Shade and Revenge tours. Today John is back to promote his brand new book, Don't You Know Who I Think […]
We celebrate the 40th anniversary of KISS's Asylum album by taking a look at the Bruce Kulick era of KISS.In 1984, after a series of revolving door guitarists came and went, Bruce Kulick became the permanent lead guitarist for the band during their non-makeup era and brought some stability to the veteran band. He also helped bridge the gap between the group's classic sound and the 80s "hair metal" sound that was hip and "rad" at the time.Jeff Hogland (Classic Rock Bottom) and me take a deep dive into the 5 studio albums that Mr. Kulick recorded with KISS: Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot In The Shade, Revenge and Carnival Of Souls. And of course, we get into all the backstage drama and shenanigans that goes along with KISS in the 80s and 90s.Just don't look too closely at the band's Asylum-era stage outfits, because, well...they don't say that Gene Simmons looked like Golden Girl Bea Arthur for nothing!
y 1989, Ace Frehley had been out of KISS for 7 years and during that time he'd maintained a debaucherous lifestyle including car accidents and very little in the way of new music. Finally Eddie Trunk helped get him signed to Megaforce and got him working. Frehley's Comet released 2 albums in 1987 & !988 (Frehley's Comet, Second Sighting) trying to reestablish himself on the rock circuit. And while 1989's Trouble Walkin' was a solid offering for the time it was released, looking back it's easy to see why it didn't crack the top 100 in the US. Though Ace and Richie Scarlet put together some catchy, heavy riffs with some signature Ace guitar licks, Ace's vocal need help. Left alone they're too bare unless they have the sing-a-long chorus behind him. Shot Full of Rock Five Card Stud and the title track are great straight ahead rockers...until the vocals kick in. As usual, Ace's lyrics are somewhere between silly and bad. But we're Ace fans darnit! So we like hearing what he does. Fractured III connects the record to his 1978 solo and first Frehley's Comet album with a solid instrumental. But lyrics on songs like Back To School, 2 Young 2 Die and Five Card Stud illustrate why KISS had to reign him in on those records. And the mystery is why did Ace cover Hide Your Heart, a song written by Paul Stanley, Desmond Child & Holly Knight, which was originally sung by Bonnie Tyler and that KISS would feature on their album Hot In The Shade? It's a head scratcher but maybe Ace was ready to show his old bandmates that he can still rock, even with their tracks. But as college students, we loved this one and wanted to celebrate Ace as Trouble Walkin' turns 35!
LC and Bakko are back again to break the 1989 KISS record Hot In The Shade. Often maligned for its lack of production, use of drum machines and bloat of material, LC and Bakko try to fix the record by removing some of the filler and re-sequencing the remaining killer to make this a perfect KISS album. They also get into all that led up to and immediately followed this record's release. Last ep was side one. This week they go track by track for side two. Enjoy. Nestor Aparicio wanted the best and he got the best! As a kid who worshiped all things KISS in the 1970s musical coming of age, he interviewed Paul Stanley twice as a music critic – once at The News American as a 16-year old in 1985 and again in a late-night, by-invite personal sit down with the legendary leader of the hottest band in the world at a makeup free 1990 chat on the "Hot In The Shade" tour. It was a great chat when the groupies weren't beating on Stanley's hotel room at the Dulles Hyatt. The post Nestor Aparicio interviews Paul Stanley of KISS on Hot In The Shade tour in 1990 first appeared on Baltimore Positive WNST.

Okkar menn hafa gefið út fjölmargar safnplötur í gegnum árin og þá oft til að halda lífi í glóðinni þegar engin er breiðskífan sem fylgja skal eftir. Þá hafa nokkrum sinnum verið sett ný lög inn á þessar plötur eða jafnvel nýjar upptökur af eldri lögum. Væntanlega hefur það verið gert til að auka söluna eða þá til að freista þess að koma nýjum afurðum á vinsældalistana víðsvegar um heiminn. Hér má nefna plöturnar „Double Platinum“ sem kom út árið 1978 á milli „Love Gun“ og „Dynasty“, „KILLERS“ frá árinu 1982 sem kom út á milli „Music From The Elder“ og „Creatures Of The Night“ og loks „Smashes, Trashes & Hits“ sem kom út þarna á milli „Crazy Nights“ og „Hot In The Shade“ árið 1988, bara rétt rúmlega tveimur mánuðum á eftir tónleikum okkar manna í Reiðhöllinni í Víðidal, og sléttum 10 árum eftir fyrrnefnda plötu „Double Platinum“. Í þessum þætti kíkjum við á þau lög sem ekki komu út á eiginlegum breiðskífum og gefum þeim einkunn að vanda. Við getum ímyndað okkur plötu þáttarins að þessu sinni, hún gæti allt eins borið heitið „Killers, Platinum & Hits“. Góða skemmtun! Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. "Hot In The Shade" was a return to 'classic KISS'. By and large its a collection of fun rockers that takes itself a little less seriously, and lies in stark contrast, to their prior release, the 80's-glossed "Crazy Nights". Soon it would all be a mute point as the onset of grunge would send KISS on a fools errand resulting in gloriously heavy but ill-conceived "Carnival of Souls". Indeed, HITS finds KISS on a low budget, trimming sails, vamping up demos and polishing the ballad "Forever" enough to ensure an MTV hit video and a summer tour of the sheds as the band re-positioned themselves as 70's rockers still cool enough to matter at the end of the 80's, no small feat! - KISStorian.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/kisstorian/support

Pierde la vergüenza y vuélvete loco, loca en nuestra compañía, la gasolina corre de nuestra parte: We keep on partying as long as we can! Carlos deserves this and more! More friends join us to our celebration and this can only end in two ways, with a monumental hangover or with a third part that leaves us exhausted. Let's try to make it the first one with the best music and a great feeling of pride to have such good people by our side. Lose your shame and go crazy, crazy in our company, the gasoline is on our side: 1.- MEGADETH – I Thought I Knew It All – Youthanasia (1994 Capitol Records) 2.- TESTAMENT – Man Kills Mankind – Dark Roots Of The Earth (2012 Nuclear Blast) 3.- DORMANTH – Brainstorm – Complete Downfall (2020 Xtreem Music) 4.- BAÏKAL – Liberate Tutemet Et Inferix Unreleased New Track) (2021) ( 5.- SEXMA – Horizonte – Ulterior (2015 Gato Encerrado Records) 6.- BON VIVANT – Felicidad – Un Juego De Ti (2015 Auto Editado) 7.- FRIO – Vuelo Con El Viento – Todo Se Vuelve Azul (2019 Auto Editado) 8.- JACARÉ JACK – The Cornerstone – Revolution (2020 Producciones Sin-Con Pasiones) 9.- LEATHER BOYS – Don´t Cheat On Me – Born In The Seventies (2020 The Fish Factory Music) 10.- STAR MAFIA BOY – Nunca Dejes De Luchar – Adicto A La Pelea (2016 Vaso Music) 11.- ZHENX – Jumping Off The Skyline (feat David A Saylor) – St (2017 AOR Blvd Records) 12.- ASHA – Till I Die – Emotional Intelligence (2014 Eagle Pass & Co. This week Tom & Zeus review the 1990 KISS "Hot In The Shade Tour." The guys breakdown the costumes, the stage, the set list and more. This is SIOL's 2nd tour review and Tom & Zeus get to rank it against their previous review of the Spirit Of '76 Tour in costumes, stage, set list and overall tour. For all things Shout It Out Loudcast check out our amazing website by clicking below:www.ShoutItOutLoudcast.comProud Member of the Pantheon Podcast click below to see the website:Pantheon Podcast NetworkPlease Email us comments or suggestions by clicking below:ShoutItOutLoudcast@Gmail.comPlease subscribe to us and give us a 5 Star (Child) review on the following places below:iTunesPodchaserStitcheriHeart RadioSpotify Please follow us and like our social media pages clicking below:TwitterFacebook PageFacebook Group Page Shout It Out LoudcastersInstagramYouTubePlease go to Klick Tee Shop for all your Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise by clicking below:SIOL Merchandise at Klick Tee Shop

The Kousins talk about KISS' fifteenth album, "Hot In The Shade." The Kousins had been out a week for vacation but are back and talking about what some may call a great album, some may call a throwaway, some may just say 'meh.' "HITS" has the first original lead vocal from Eric Carr, but it's also his last real album appearance before his death in 1991. So, for you, did the album "Rise To It?" Don't "Hide Your Heart." Tell us. Call the TLDNetwork hotline and leave a message for the Kousins at 336-422-NUMB (6862). This podcast was recorded in The Less Desirables Studio South and recorded via Zoom, sponsored by Bull's Tavern in WSNC.

LC and Bakko are back again to break the 1989 KISS record Hot In The Shade. Often maligned for its lack of production, use of drum machines and bloat of material, LC and Bakko try to fix the record by removing some of the filler and re-sequencing the remaining killer in an effort to make this a perfect KISS album. They also get into all that led up to and immediately followed this record’s release. Last week was side one. This week they go track by track for side two. Enjoy.

Idag pratar jag om och kring tiden från Crazy Nights till Hot In The Shade.
This week, we tried something a little different for our show. We played a game we borrowed from the KISSFAQ discussion board called skip or play where we take an album in the KISS catalog, go down the track list, and each co-host gives his answer on if he skips or plays that track when listening to the album. This was a fun change from our normal format! We did make it our own by also discussing collectibles from the HITS era as well. OH! And Nicholas Buckland is back!! Let us know in the comments what songs on HITS you skip or play. Lots of debate on this show so sit back, enjoy, subscribe, share, and thanks for watching! https://youtu.be/AjRzFpcZy3s www.patreon.com/kissmykollectibles www.klickteeshop.com/kiss-my-merch www.kissmykollectibles.com www.facebook.com/groups/kissmykollectibles www.facebook.com/groups/kissmywax www.instagram.com/kissmykollectibles www.twitter.com/KMKollectibles

Episode 230 KISS Hot In The Shade (Warning Ultra Un-PC)
This week we're joined by Chris Czynszak and Steven Michael to discuss the upcoming RockNPod expo, and a great summer album, Hot in the Shade! Check it out!
We're back with another “In The 90s” episode, this time tracking the chronology of rock legends KISS through the decade. After rising to fame in the 70s, the 80s were less kind to the band, who shed the makeup, band members and eventually albums sales through a turbulent time They entered the 90s on a positive note, with 1989′s Hot In The Shade scoring a hit with the power ballad “Forever,” but faced tragedy with the death of fan favorite drummer Eric Carr. While 1992′s Revenge initially sold well, it struggled to reach Gold and hte ensuing tour sputtered as the shifting musical landscape at the beginning of the decade pointed the band in a heavier direction foretold by the Revenge single “Unholy.” The eventual result would be 1997′s Carnival of Souls, with heavy nods to Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, but by the time of release it was an afterthought thanks to the 1995 MTV Unplugged performance that reunited the original line-up and stoked a short lived KISS revival in popular culture. The end result would be the 1998 album Psycho Circus, a reunion album in name only. It was a tumultuous ten years in which KISS would recapture their past at the cost of their future. To help us break it all down, joining our roundtable is Julian Gill, the man behind KissFAQ.com, author of a number of books on the band and host of the KissFAQ podcast, Joe Royland of Sit and Spin with Joe, and the Patreon patron who made this episode happen, Chris Martz. 1979年专辑《DYNASTY》中的歌曲“I WAS MADE FOR LOVIN'YOU”在全世界流行开来。
