Play Episode Listen Later Jun 18, 2024 43:27

    1. Show Affection and Love Towards Your Partner Kids learn a lot by observing their parents. When you show affection and express love towards your spouse, you're setting a powerful example. This teaches them about healthy, loving relationships and the importance of emotional expression. Action Tip: Make a habit of daily gestures of love—whether it's a kiss, a hug, or a simple “I love you.” Let your children see and feel the warmth in your marriage. 2. Communicate Openly and Respectfully Open, respectful communication between partners is crucial. It teaches children how to express their thoughts and feelings constructively. Action Tip: Practice active listening and speak to your partner with respect, especially during disagreements. This shows your kids how to handle conflicts healthily. 3. Share Household Responsibilities When men actively participate in household chores, it demonstrates equality and teamwork. This not only lightens the load but also models the importance of sharing responsibilities. Action Tip: Divide household tasks and be consistent in your contributions. This balanced approach fosters a cooperative and supportive environment. 4. Be Present and Engaged Quality time with your spouse sets a foundation for a strong relationship. Being present and engaged also shows your children the value of giving undivided attention to loved ones. Action Tip: Schedule regular date nights or spend time together after the kids go to bed. This strengthens your bond and creates a stable family dynamic. 5. Support Each Other's Parenting Decisions Consistency in parenting is crucial for a child's sense of security. When parents support each other's decisions, it provides a united front. Action Tip: Discuss parenting strategies and agree on rules and consequences. Back each other up in front of the kids, discussing any disagreements privately. 6. Show Gratitude and Appreciation Expressing gratitude strengthens your relationship and sets a positive example for your children. It teaches them to appreciate and acknowledge the efforts of others. Action Tip: Regularly thank your spouse for the little things they do. A simple “thank you” can go a long way in maintaining a happy marriage. 7. Encourage Each Other's Personal Growth Supporting your spouse's personal development and interests is vital. It shows your children the importance of growth and self-improvement. Action Tip: Encourage your partner to pursue hobbies, education, or career goals. Celebrate their achievements and be their biggest cheerleader. 8. Maintain a Sense of Humor Laughter is a key ingredient in a healthy marriage. It helps diffuse tension and fosters a joyful atmosphere at home. Action Tip: Find reasons to laugh together—whether it's through sharing funny stories, watching a comedy, or simply being playful. This positive energy rubs off on your children. 9. Demonstrate Conflict Resolution Skills Conflict is inevitable, but handling it well is what counts. Show your children that disagreements can be resolved calmly and respectfully. Action Tip: Practice problem-solving together. Use “I” statements to express feelings and work towards mutually beneficial solutions. This teaches your kids invaluable conflict resolution skills. 10. Prioritize Family Time Balancing work and family can be challenging, but prioritizing family time is essential. It strengthens your bond and creates lasting memories. Action Tip: Dedicate specific times for family activities, like game nights or weekend outings. Being together as a family unit reinforces the importance of family connections. Amazon Storefront for Marriage Books and Other Resources Good Kind Graticube Use code DIVORCEPROOF for 15% Off For FirmTech cock ring: Smart Cock Rings for Smart Men: Firmtech Penoscrotal Rings (myfirmtech.com) Use code DIVORCEPROOF for 10% off

TRIGGER WARNING- Divorce, DV, Abuse, Trauma Abuse isn't talked about enough. In this solo episode, I talk about statistics surrounding abuse, types of abuse and my own story as a survivor of several kinds of abuse. I talk about divorce and how it traumatizes someone. I talk about betrayal trauma, reactive abuse and something almost no one talks about- post-separation abuse, which is how the abuse doesn't stop after you get a divorce and in fact, it may even get worse. Does that mean you should stay to avoid it? No way. But it is something that needs to be brought to people's attention. I talk about how easy it is for those who have never experienced abuse to stand on the other side of the street and judge someone for staying in an abusive relationship, how hard it is to leave and stay gone, and the mental overload of trying to heal after you've left. If you've never been in an abusive relationship, listen to this episode because I guarantee you know someone going through it right now and this may help you be a better supporter for them. If you're going through this or have gone through it, I'm so sorry you're experiencing this and this episode may help. I don't talk about narcissistic abuse in this episode because that is going to be an episode all on it's own and because narcissistic abuse typically encompasses several of the types of abuse I discuss in this episode. If you've ever thought about quitting your W2 job and pursuing something greater, working with your spouse, or wondered if you have the mindset needed for an exceptional marriage, this episode is for you! If you've got small kids and you're working from home, trying to juggle all the roles of life, parenthood, entrepreneurship, and taking care of yourself, this episode is for you! This episode is packed with nuggets to help your marriage, both a husband and a wife's perspective on many issues we all face, and my personal favorite part of this episode- an inside look and listen on how a truly healthy, happy marriage mindset is. I was absolutely blown away with the way Brady and Leslie talk to and about each other! The mindset they have toward working together, their WHY for working together, their mindset for their marriage, it's all so inspiring and beautiful. If we normalize anything, let it be this! Leslie and Brady Huffer started a digital marketing side hustle soon after they got married as a creative outlet and additional income stream while she was a special education teacher and he was in corporate sales. Their marketing agency, Hey Huffers, grew faster than they had anticipated and they decided to take the leap to quit their 9 to 5 jobs to run it full-time together. A week later they found out they were pregnant and expecting a baby girl! Now they get to run their business from home and be present with their daughter each day. In the transition of leaving their full-time jobs to be home managing a business together, they have learned the importance of communication and teamwork as they tackle running a business and raising a baby hand-in-hand and side by side. In addition to Hey Huffers, Leslie has started a community to help other moms launch their own profitable at-home business as well as sharing simple everyday activities to keep kids engaged, learning, and growing each day called The Joyful Work at Home Mama. They love empowering other families to live life on their own terms! Today I sat down with Zach Watson who calls himself the Recovering Man Child to talk about how he coaches men to lessen the mental load for their partners, lessen the resentment for themselves and their partners, create healthier communication habits, and increase emotional intelligence. In this candid conversation, Zach and I talk about the 81% divorce rate if a male has low emotional intelligence in a marriage, how men respond to coaching better than counseling or therapy and how men feel resentment for not feeling like they have permission to say no in their marriages when asked to do something. I give Zach some hard questions about his own marriage, examples of my own and we talk about ways we would coach clients with the same issues. How do you get your partner to recognize the mental load you have? How do you get them to step up when it feels like they're dragging you and the marriage down? How do you get your man child to recover? Zach addresses all of this and more in this episode! Men, are you ready to start recovering from being a man child yourself? Ep 56: Decluttering Your Life w/Kate Evans

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 13, 2023 63:45

Kate Evans has spent twenty years empowering women to see their true self that is hiding under their fears, shame, perfectionism, and unrealistic expectations.  Her aim is to help you see yourself clearly for the first time. All of the answers you're looking for are inside of you already. But she knows how hard it is to find them on your own with all of that other noise getting in the way.  Her job is to help you quiet down all of those crappy thoughts so you can see what she already knows about you.  She's here for you as a guide, confidant, and accountability partner. She wants to honor the unique woman you are, instead of asking you to mold yourself into someone else's idea of what you or your home should look like.  In 2018, she had a life-changing experience when she dove in and decluttered her own home. The experience showed Kate the connection between self-care and a healthy home.  That was when she knew she had to help other women feel the pride and relief she felt.  She found power and strength in herself when she took control of her home. She got over her "own shit" and stopped believing she was "just a slob", which was the thought that had held her back her entire life.  Kate's goal is for you to find your version of that story. To stop hiding behind limiting beliefs and grab onto the life and home you deserve! As a trained psychologist and life coach, Kate has a unique perspective on decluttering your home that is about you and your journey, not just the stuff in your home. With her empathic and solution-focused approach to decluttering, and your commitment to yourself, you're finally going create sustainable change. In this episode, we break down the limiting beliefs that may be lies that are holding you back from becoming your best self with an organized mind, home and life. Kate and I talk about how decluttering your home can and will lead to a more fulfilling marriage and parent/child relationship if you have kids. We talk about the grief that comes with cleaning out a deceased loved one's home and many more topics around decluttering. Kate tells you how to get started, how to go about decluttering, secrets to being successful once you start decluttering your home and if you get stuck, she's right there to coach you by contacting her to get started! www.soulfulspacecoaching.com/newsletter www.soulfulspacecoaching.com IG: @soulfulspace.coaching For marriage coaching with Kam: www.recognizingpotential.com coaching@recognizingpotential.com IG: @divorce.proof.marriage If you are a supporter of this show, Kameran and her production team appreciate you immensely!
