Since it's Halloween month, the A24 Rocks crew has decided to review an all time classic for their A24 Vibe Discussion: The Thing. Released in 1982 and directed by John Carpenter: The Thing is about a group of scientists at a remote research facility in Antarctica who encounter a Norwegian scientist from a neighboring research facility trying to kill a husky. When the Norwegian scientist attempts to shoot at the Americans, he is shot dead, but leaves the group with many questions. They discover that every human at the Norwegian's base is dead, and slowly begin to realize that a "Thing" may have been responsible for the corpses, and is now hunting them. Starring Kurt Russell and Wilford Brimley, The Thing was initially a commercial and critical failure, but has gained a tremendous cult following since its release. How will the A24 Rocks crew review it? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/a24otr/support

(Brian's Pick) Marked from IMAGE COMICS written by David Hine with art by Brian Haberlin The Marked may look like cool young influencers, but beneath the designer clothes, their bodies are tattooed with the magical glyphs of an ancient order that secretly protects the world against evil forces. With no new occult threats, The Marked use their tattooed powers solely for the pursuit of pleasure until a young woman called Liza creates a dangerous new form of Hybrid Sorcery. The party is over for The Marked. You'll believe in magic -- terrifying, soul-destroying magic. (Rebekah's Pick) Catalyst Prime: Seven Days from LION FORGE COMICS written by Gail Simone with art by José Luís and Jonas Trindade DAY ONE: Lorena Payan was the first to realize a meteor was hurtling towards Earth two years ago.

In this very special episode of Radio Nasties we take a look at at 1978's horror classic 'Halloween' directed by the legendary John Carpenter (The Thing, Big Trouble In Little China) staring Jamie Lee Curtis (The Fog, Prom Night) & Donald Pleasence (Escape From New York, Phenomena). Keep your eyes peeled throughout October while we review EVERY film in the Halloween franchise.
Remember the longstanding Showtime horror anthology TV series, Body Bags? No? Oh right, because the project got cancelled and they turned it into a movie. The show was intended to be their response to Tales from the Crypt, in an ill-fated pursuit. The three shorts were directed by horror legends John Carpenter (The Thing, Halloween, Christine)and Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Lifeforce, Poltergeist). Carpenter and Hooper both play bit parts in the movie, with Carpenter serving as the host, a sarcastic, rotting corpse, and Hooper as a coroner. Horror legends, Wes Craven and Sam Raimi, also have cameos that are pretty great. Mark Hammill (Star Wards, The Guyver, Batman the Animated Series) shows his taint, butt, and balls, in a very ambitious move that cannot be unseen. David Naughton (An American Werewolf in London, Ice Cream Man) plays a charming gas station patron who fights worse than Gandhi. The "Hidden Track" is from Golgothan Remains, titled From Chaos It has Come. Be sure to check out their shows at Heathen Fest III 6/1/19, Moruya Waterfront Hotel, The Brightside Brisbane 6/21/19, Crowbar on 6/23/19, and back to Crowbar on 7/6/19.If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes, please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com. Jack and Andrew of the Wages of Cinema welcome you all back to the third annual installment of HORROR in APRIL. Why April? Because we love horror movies and it's another half a year until October, so we're going to soak up the genre, dangnabbit! We have a different approach this year, however, as we will present the first segment as a NEW horror movie that is out now in select theaters and VoD (YouTube, iTunes, etc), and then we'll come back later this month with more reviews. First up... what do you get when two filmmakers worship at the altars of John Carpenter (The Thing), George Romero (the "Dead" series), Lucio Fulci (The Beyond), Clive Barker (Hellraiser), and HP Lovecraft (uh... pick any given story that's about the f***ed up and bizarre and occult), and you may get something like THE VOID, a sort of horror smoothie if you will of disgusting special effects and bizarre imagery. Does it work? You'll have to listen to us to find out... wagesofcinema@gmail.com https://facebook.com/wagesofcinema https://twitter.com/wagesofcinema Trailer#2 of The Void featured (fair use)
