VYS0023 | Mercurial, Mutable, Mysterious Something - Vayse to Face with Paul Weston - Show Notes It's episode 23 and joining Hine and Buckley to pull that cosmic trigger is none other than author, researcher, lecturer and master of synchro-mysticism, Paul Weston. In the way that only Paul knows how, he spins a wonderful, breath-taking web of strange events, synchronicities and bizarre connections which all emerged in a single extremely powerful month in his home town of Glastonbury - How did he end up scattering Courtney Love's father's ashes in the centre of the Glastonbury Zodiac? How does that relate to a series of macabre and grisly murders? And how did the discovery of a swastika on the threshold of Dion Fortune's former residence trigger a waking-dream-proximity-alert? Paul also talks about how Cosmic Trigger is a psycho-active book (a trip he's taken 29 times!), how you can encourage synchronicities in your own life and how to deal with Chapel Perilous when your time comes... recorded 26 March 2023 Thanks to Keith for compiling the show notes!!! Special thanks to Mega Millions Draw Host, John Crow for hanging out with us and talking about all things Family Vacationer. John is a super interesting person and is, himself, well traveled. He still hasn't made either of us rich by calling our Mega Millions numbers. Oh well We had a lot of ideas about what to do with our 100th episode, but this was the perfect chance to talk about why we started this in the first place, some of our favorite episodes and where we'd like to take the show moving forward. Thank you to all of our amazing guests! You've made this show a blast to create every week. Most especially thank you to our listeners!

John is also known by his shamanic name John Crow and is known to me from attending one of his repatterning workshops and watching him perform some of his poetry at The Find The Others Festival in 2014. He's always been someone I've wanted to invite on the podcast and reading his latest book became the opportunity I'd been waiting for. His story of becoming the custodian of Crossbones Graveyard and his relationship with the Goose and the 23 year magical working and now his move to Glastonbury is amazing. After you've heard the show trust me you'll want to buy the book and I've got to say it's one of the best books on magic I've ever read.Find John You can email via the contact section https://crossbones.org.uk/On Watling Street Podcast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu60vQwD0lA&t=1483s&ab_channel=JohnHiggsFind meTwitter and Insta: @JimthediamondBut me a coffee: https://ko-fi.com/jimthediamond66640Music: Thomas CrosslandTheme tune: tom baker & Daisy Eris Campbell

“Wussy” European vampires. African folklore and mythology, and how they help establish that “homophobia is not African.” How reading Jackie Collins and Leon Uris during childhood fosters a lifelong passion for books. The structuring of an immersive, propulsive fantasy trilogy. This week on Book Dreams, Eve and Julie discuss all of this and so much more with Marlon James, the powerhouse author of A Brief History of Seven Killings, which won the 2015 Man Booker Prize and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Marlon talks about his new novel, Moon Witch, Spider King, the follow-up to the New York Times bestselling Black Leopard, Red Wolf, which was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction in 2019. Marlon shares with Julie and Eve how certain experiences in his own life have shown up in his work, and he previews “Get Millie Black,” the crime drama he is writing and producing for HBO, which his mother “will say is inspired by her, because she is a detective. It's not. Please stop that, mother.” Marlon James was born in Jamaica in 1970. In addition to A Brief History of Seven Killings and the first two books of the “Dark Star” trilogy–Black Leopard, Red Wolf and Moon Witch, Spider King–he is also the author of The Book of Night Women, which won the 2010 Dayton Literary Peace Prize and the Minnesota Book Award and was a finalist for the 2010 National Book Critics Circle Award in Fiction and an NAACP Image Award. His first novel John Crow's Devil was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for First Fiction and the Commonwealth Writers Prize and was a New York Times Editors' Choice. Marlon is the co-host of the podcast “Marlon and Jake Read Dead People,” where he and his editor, Jake Morrissey, discuss the classics. The English of which was translated by Ben Sabin, John Crow, Noriko Iwahara, Philip D. Gibbon, and Ryan Patterson, and edited by Morgan Rushton and Tim Law. "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE is a reimagining of the iconic original game that re-defined the RPG genre, diving deeper into the world and its characters than ever before. The first game in the project will be set in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience that provides a great starting point to the series." Additional Information One reason I invited Liz to the podcast was because of her translation comparisons of games, including the original Final Fantasy VII and the Remake. The book's author Sondra Hausner (Professor of Anthropology, University of Oxford) will explore the issues raised in her book. Every month, a ragtag group of Londoners gather in the site known as Crossbones Graveyard to commemorate the souls of medieval prostitutes believed to be buried there—the “Winchester Geese,” women who were under the protection of the Church but denied Christian burial. In the Borough of Southwark, not far from Shakespeare's Globe, is a pilgrimage site for self-identified misfits, nonconformists, and contemporary sex workers who leave memorials to the outcast dead. Ceremonies combining raucous humor and eclectic spirituality are led by a local playwright, John Constable, also known as John Crow. His interpretation of the history of the site has struck a chord with many who feel alienated in present-day London. Sondra L. Hausner offers a nuanced ethnography of Crossbones that tacks between past and present to look at the historical practices of sex work, the relation of the Church to these professions, and their representation in the present. She draws on anthropological approaches to ritual and time to understand the forms of spiritual healing conveyed by the Crossbones rites. She shows that ritual is a way of creating the present by mobilizing the stories of the past for contemporary purposes. The book's author Sondra Hausner (Professor of Anthropology, University of Oxford) will explore the issues raised with: Bridget Anderson (Professor of Migration and Citizenship, University of Oxford) Diane Watt (Professor of Medieval Literature, University of Surrey) Chair: Antonia Fitzpatrick (Departmental Lecturer in History, University of Oxford)
