Mary & Blake recap and give reaction to Outlander episode 7.13 - Hello Goodbye. In this episode, we discuss Rick Rankin's performance in the scenes between Roger and his long-lost father, noting the nuanced character work. We also marvel at Rachel's unexpected boldness on her wedding night to Ian, a heartwarming moment in the episode. Further, we applaud the well-paced, balanced approach that allows viewers to fully immerse themselves in character moments, such as the awkward yet tender Quaker wedding ceremony. However, we still express frustration over the lack of urgency surrounding the search for Lord John Grey, a character who has done so much for the Fraser family. Also in this episode: Newcomer Writers and Experienced Director: The episode was written by first-time Outlander writers Madeline Brestal and Evan McGahey, while the director, Jan Matthys, has an extensive background in shows like The Last Kingdom and Vikings: Valhalla. Roger's Reunion with His Father: we praise Rick Rankin's performance in the scenes between Roger and his long-lost father, noting the nuanced character work and Roger's struggle to balance his desire to reveal their connection with the need to get his father to safety. Ian and Rachel's Quaker Wedding: we find the Quaker wedding ceremony, with its awkwardness and time lapse, to be a delightful and well-executed character moment, providing insight into the Quaker tradition. Rachel's Unexpected Boldness: We marvel at Rachel's unexpected boldness and forwardness on her wedding night with Ian, noting that it provides an interesting contrast to her Quaker upbringing. Lack of Urgency Surrounding Lord John Grey: we express frustration over the lack of urgency from the characters, particularly Jamie, to find and help the injured Lord John Grey, a character who has done so much for the Fraser family. Bree's Confrontation with Rob Cameron: we praise Bree's character for standing up to Rob Cameron and the misogynistic undertones in the cops' handling of the situation, while also noting the potential consequences for her family. Production Details and Comparisons: Blake notes the outdoor shots in the episode, comparing them to the visual style of The Last Kingdom, and appreciate the use of the time travel sound effect as a consistent storytelling device. Jemmy's Memory Abilities: Mary highlights Jemmy's impressive memory skills, which are reminiscent of his grandmother Claire's, and how this contributes to the overall narrative. Missed Opportunities: Blake identifies a few missed opportunities, such as the lack of more scenes between Roger and his father and the absence of the song "Hello, Goodbye" during a relevant moment in the episode.   SUBSCRIBE TO OUTLANDER CAST: AN OUTLANDER PODCAST Apple Podcasts YouTube Spotify CONNECT WITH MARY & BLAKE  Like Our Facebook Page Join Our Facebook Group Join The #NerdClan Follow On Twitter  Follow On Instagram  UNLOCK BONUS EPISODES, PREMIUM PODCASTS & MORE -- www.JoinTheNerdClan.com Sign up  HERE for Blake's Book Club: DRUMS OF AUTUMN CHECK OUT THE BEST MERCH ON THE PLANET: THE MARY & BLAKE STORE Shop for all of our podcasts, sayings, and listener inspired designs in one easy place. "Piranhas in Rome"!

VYS0023 | Mercurial, Mutable, Mysterious Something - Vayse to Face with Paul Weston - Show Notes It's episode 23 and joining Hine and Buckley to pull that cosmic trigger is none other than author, researcher, lecturer and master of synchro-mysticism, Paul Weston. In the way that only Paul knows how, he spins a wonderful, breath-taking web of strange events, synchronicities and bizarre connections which all emerged in a single extremely powerful month in his home town of Glastonbury - How did he end up scattering Courtney Love's father's ashes in the centre of the Glastonbury Zodiac? How does that relate to a series of macabre and grisly murders? And how did the discovery of a swastika on the threshold of Dion Fortune's former residence trigger a waking-dream-proximity-alert? Paul also talks about how Cosmic Trigger is a psycho-active book (a trip he's taken 29 times!), how you can encourage synchronicities in your own life and how to deal with Chapel Perilous when your time comes... recorded 26 March 2023 Thanks to Keith for compiling the show notes!!! In Episode 31 our conversation about VIKINGS VALHALLA continues with NAHIR OTAÑO GRACIA, a medieval scholar whose “Global North Atlantic” extends the Viking story from the North Sea to the Iberian Peninsula, Mediterranean, and the tip of North Africa. We talk about how the Vikings's travels and encounters changed their culture and destinies as seen in VIKINGS: VALHALLA. Nahir Otaño Gracia, is Assistant Professor of English at the University of New Mexico and a Member of the Institute for Advanced Studies located in Princeton, NJ (IAS). Her theoretical frameworks include Critical Race Studies, Translation Theory and Practice, and the Global North Atlantic—extending the North Atlantic to include the Iberian Peninsula and Africa. She has published several articles on literatures written in Middle English, Old Castilian, Old Catalan, Old Irish, and Old Norse-Icelandic, and they have appeared in journals such as "Arthuriana," "Comitatus," "Enarratio," "English Language Notes," and "Viator." Ep. 30 gives you a “watchers guide” to Viking dramas available for streaming starting with VIKINGS: VALHALLA now in its second season on Netflix. Alex Chisnall, host of the popular business podcast Screw It Just Do It, is our guest and guide. We met Alex via the Clubhouse social media app where he gave podcasters like us the incentive, courage, and a road map to just do it and launch Historical Drama with The Boston Sisters. Alex, who is close to Viking history in the UK and shares our enthusiasm for history, got us curious about VIKINGS: VALHALLA, and other Viking-themed dramas (see below) currently available on streaming services. Alex Chisnall started his audio career with BBC Radio in the 1990s before deciding to travel the world working for Virgin Atlantic Airlines. He founded his podcast agency, Podpreneur, after the success of his own podcast literally changed his life. Alex Chisnall's podcast Screw It Just Do It is a #1 rated business show downloaded in over 180+ countries from the UK to Uganda. (Recorded 2/20/23) EP. 30 TRANSCRIPT Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, VIKINGS: VALHALLA chronicles the exploits of some of the most famous Vikings from history — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his courageous warrior sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). Season Two begins after the tragic fall of Kattegat; an event that has shattered the main characters' dreams and altered their destinies. Finding themselves suddenly fugitives in Scandinavia Leif , Harald, and Freydis are forced to test their ambitions and courage in worlds beyond the fjords of Kattegat. VIKINGS: VALHALLA is a sequel to the HIstory Channel's VIKINGS series helmed by Michael Hirst. Created by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive), VIKINGS: VALHALLA is set 100 years later towards the end of the Viking era 1066. Ep. 30 Time stamps 1:22 Vikings: Valhalla synopsis; 2:27: Alex Chisnall, podpreneur and Vikings enthusiast; 3:51 Vikings in UK History; 6:34 King Canute in VIKINGS: VALHALLA and the Real King Cnut the Great; 11:13 Leadership styles of Viking and Saxon Monarchs; 15:19 Leif Erikson; 18:55 Watchers Guide to Vikings Series: Where to Begin ; 23:17 Lightning Round Questions; 28:15 Where to Watch Vikings Dramas; 29:15 Episode 31 Preview (VIKINGS: VALHALLA continues) with Nahir Ortaño Gracia; 29:47 Closing and Credits STAY ENGAGED with HISTORICAL DRAMA WITH THE BOSTON SISTERS LISTEN to past past podcasts starting with the guests featured in this bonus episode SIGN UP for our mailing list SUBSCRIBE to the podcast on your favorite podcast platform You can SUPPORT this podcast on Anchor or SHOP THE PODCAST on our affiliate bookstore Thank you for listening! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/historicaldramasisters/support

We are looking at you P&G and Mielle. The Walking Dead ended if you didn't know. But now we have The Last of Us. Ferg brings up George Santos and his latest controversy. We also discuss Ed Reed and Bethune-Cookman. Razi gets first question and ask what's the worst financial decision the brothers have ever made. Ferg wants to know do we check on the strong and as we are considered strong do people check in on us. Buff takes last question and asks when is it okay to criticize dead heroes. We close asking for anyone that has any information about Kailyn McAlpine's death please contact us. We talk through Florida denying an AP African American History curriculum. And we are looking for members of the New Glow Baptist Church in Atlanta. This was a really really good episode.
