All Hail Odin!! Just last year we had the good fortune of having Leaves Eyes vocalists Alex Krull and Elina Sirralla on the show as they passed thru town. Now this year LE are helping us cope with this craziness with a cool new album. "The Last Viking" is an absolute battleshipburner of a record! So we jumped at the chance of having Mr.Krull on the show again. We discussed the new record, his legit Viking ways, and, being Atrocity fans, we had to get an update on that camp as well. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we present our "interview" with Angus Young, share our Record Store Day booty, and we our picks as to who in Metaldom we'd like to see as the new president. Musically, we crank the new Leaves as well as the aforementioned Atrocity, Hellripper, Convulse, Violent Life Violent Death, ACXDC, Angel Nation, and Dead Kennedys. Hails and Horns!! Stay Healthy!! Leaves Eyes have released the final saga in their album series with the recent release of The Last Viking. The album is a sweeping, historically accurate tale centring around the last Viking and is told in a majestically metal way by a band that perfectly captures the imagery by music of an era long gone.“It is a pretty epic journey through the life of the last Viking,” explained vocalist Elina Siirala, “it’s a concept album and I think Alex can talk more about that (laughs).”“Musically I think the album is a very spicy, colourful album,” second vocalist Alexander Krull took over. “The saga was perfect to write epic and powerful metal songs with such a background story. The special thing is this saga isn’t just happening in one place; it’s over several countries. The thing is also for us as musicians and artists we had a bright field of inspiration to write our music.”In the full interview Elina and Alex talk more about The Last Viking, discuss the historical accuracy and how much research went into it, how this album ties in with the previous two albums, how much creative license they took with the storyline, writing to a pre-existing storyline and more.

These are four guys weaned on Howard Stern, Andrew Dice Clay, and S.O.D., armed with big riffs, bigger pitchers of beer, and the biggest of belly laughs. Paul Terror (lead vocals), Gee (drums) and Johnny Wildchild (guitar/vocals) have been members since its inception in 2010. Tony Cianciotto (bass/vocals) joined in April 2014, while Mike de Gruchy (guitar/vocals) was added to the lineup in February 2017. The band's 9-song debut album, 'Specimen Cup', was independently released on October 12th, 2015. In September 2016, Terror Garden was featured on Verizon Fios1's 'Rising Stars' special promo. 'Karma & Chaos', the band's 2nd independent effort, was released on May 25th, 2018. Three of the 8 songs are re-recordings from the 'Specimen Cup' album: 'Deep', 'Out Of My Head' and 'Shut Up & Buy Me A Drink'. Produced by Terror Garden and Peter R. Pizzo Jr. (Crescent Sound Studios, Farmingdale, NY), it has received critical acclaim amongst their peers and across the Long Island music scene. Current members are Dave Hawkins (Guitars), Kane Sampson (Guitars), Jason Caspers (Bass), Sam Verco (Drums) and Andy Kite (Vocals). The band originally formed back in late 2008 where a number of months were spent writing new music and in mid 2009 the band entered Against The Grain Studio to record their first album “Buried In Hell” which was recorded, mixed and mastered by Andy Kite. This album was released in early 2010 which was met with great reviews both locally and worldwide. After the release of “Buried In Hell”, the band spent the rest of 2010 promoting the album, playing at numerous venues around South Australia with their music also appearing on compilation CD’s such as “Of Great Magnitude” and “Streetcult Loud Music Compilation #14”, alongside bands like “Fear Factory”, “Kingdom Of Sorrow”, “Tristania”, “Leaves Eyes” and many more. The band has since headed back to Against The Grain Studio and recorded their second album entitled “Life Is A Dark Chain Of Events” which is set to be released on December the 12th, 2018, through Shadow Beast Records. The new album was again recorded and mixed by Andy Kite with the mastering duties being handled by the legendary Jens Bogren of Sweden who has mastered bands such as Soilwork, Amon Amarth and Opeth just to name a few. 2019 is set to be an even bigger and better year for the band with more live shows already in the pipeline and the release of their new album which will see the band promote the new CD with live shows across South Australia, Nationally and Internationally. The Wigglian Way Pagan Podcast

Welcome back, to The Wigglian Way. Happy Springtime, or Autumn if you are in the Southern Hemisphere. I (Sparrow) love the smell of the ocean in the rain. It is fresh and a new beginning. Mojo had the opportunity to have a chat with Ashley Mortimer who is a director of The Centre For Pagan Studies and a trustee of the Doreen Valiente Foundation and a prominent member of the international pagan community. Tonight’s feature album is by Malkin Tower, a London based folk rock band. Malkin Tower is reminiscent Gypsy (Enchantress), who I danced to with my sons when they were children. From their album The Mistletoe Bride we hear The Mistletoe Bride, I am The Witch, Call the Morrigu. Our second set is two songs by Leaves’ Eyes. The first is Scarborough Fair from Njord. The second song is Elegy from Vinland Saga. You know, this thing that we are all doing? This trying to figure out who we are and why we are here at this point of time at this particular place, what is it for? It is hard. Really really hard. We know this. We experience this. So do others. Take a deep breathe. Exhale all that breathe. Do that two more times. Now, reach out to someone. Make a connection. That’s what it’s all about. Love.

Leaves' Eyes is a German-Norwegian symphonic metal band from Stavanger, Norway and Ludwigsburg, Germany. They were formed in 2003 by Liv Kristine, the former lead singer of Theatre of Tragedy and the entire line-up of Atrocity. To date, the band has released six studio albums, a single, six EPs, one live album and a DVD. Most of Leaves' Eyes' lyrics, written by Liv Kristine, concern Norse mythology and the Viking Age. The melodic singing vocals of Liv Kristine are occasionally backed up by death growled vocals from Krull, identified under the vocal style Kristine refers to as "beauty and the beast". On April 15, 2016, the band announced they had parted ways with lead-vocalist and co-founder Liv Kristine. They also revealed that she would be replaced by the Finnish singer Elina Siirala of EnkElination. Since then both parties have given different accounts about how the split happened with the band stating a decision on Kristine's departure was taken in January. While it was stated this had been a mutual decision, Kristine disputed this and indicated she was dismissed and it was not her decision. Legal proceedings have started. On April 18, 2017 Siirala made her debut with the band at the Hammersonic festival in Jakarta. It was also announced that a tour edition of the album King of Kings is set to appear in June.

The Wigglian Way Pagan Podcast

Hello Wigglians! We just had the opportunity to interview two fantastic Red Wheel/Weiser authors and they are ready to go for Episode 143 of The Wigglian Way. First, I spoke with Courtney Weber who wrote the most useful (to me) tarot book yet. It's called Tarot for One. There are exercises for you to do to better know yourself and tarot. The second interview is with the writer of Love Magic, Lilith Dorsey. Considering how Wigglians feel about love magic in general, this book is a keeper. Not only does Lilith have great spells for all kinds of love, she discusses the ethics of love magic, which to us, is quite important. Our Feature Album for this episode Meredead, by Leaves Eyes. We hear: 1. Meredead 2. Velvet Heart 3. Spirit's Masquerade We also hear 2 Know, 2 Will, 2 Dare, 2 Rock from the album Tip My Cup to the Gods, by Witch's Mark. To complete the musical part of the show we have Pandemonaeon (so sexy) with Lover's Pardon from Dangerous Beauty. You are all Wigglian Dangerous beauties and we love you! Thanks for listening.

Alex was incredibly willing to talk for quite awhile. Including about 10 more minutes off the record. I was able to get the latest info about both Leaves Eyes and Atrocity, since they're the same bands (members, not style). LE is really dedicated to touring a lot in support of the Vinland Saga album. Hansi was very gracious, and thankfully willing to talk for a long time, even as Leaves Eyes were soundchecking rather loudly. Blind Guardian is one of my favorites, and I'm glad we talked about the Nightfall album being the greatest, and ANATO being a disappointment. It's rather shocking to learn when we'll get the next album. BLACK NIGHT MEDITATIONS - A heathenish foray along the shining path.
