Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with Dr. Fergus Connolly, an elite performance coach. We return to our series today with the intent of helping you to realize your leadership potential. We highlight the very real correlation between self-reflection and success, and the impact that addressing your limiting beliefs has on reaching your full potential. In today's episode, we discuss: There is great power in creating space for self-reflection. Self-reflection is crucial to understanding and improving one's behavior. Intentionally setting roadblocks is imperative in leadership. Rather than relying on external factors for success, it forces one to be more mindful and self accountable. The transformation that takes place when you practice self-awareness. Creating space for self-awareness and reflection will help one to better understand how we react and respond in every interaction. Any and all success begins within. Fergus tells us that this is one of the most critical pieces in reaching your full potential. What's the role you played as a child? If you don't make peace with your natural inclinations when tensions arise, you miss the opportunity to learn, adjust, and grow. Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, Dr. Fergus Connolly, (one of the world's leading experts in optimizing team and human performance) and I launch a new series titled “Next Level Leader,” where we focus on, elevating your leadership in a meaningful, impactful, and sustainable way. All to assist you in advancing to the next level on your leadership journey. Highlighting the very real correlation between self awareness and success, and the impact that your personal leadership style offers. In today's episode, we discuss: The level of success you achieve is directly connected to your level of self-awareness. (mic drop) Making increased self-awareness the foundation that all future success stands on. The transformation takes place when you dropkick judgment to the curb and replace it with curiosity. Judgment holds you back, curiosity opens doors to your brilliance and expands opportunities! There's not just one way to lead. Fergus tells us, “So many different leaders lead wonderfully in so many different ways.” What you do naturally is of great value. Rather than discounting what comes easiest to you, understand the importance and impact it offers. There is more value in what you do naturally than you think! Ongoing development is imperative in leadership. When you further develop areas and improve, you become a more resilient leader over time. Mihail Vladimirov, Bob Pearce and Dan Rhodes discuss the new book: 'Talking Tactics - You'll Never Look at Football the Same Way Again' by Mihail Vladimirov and Bob Pearce. Do you get your 4-2-3-1s confused with your Christmas trees? How are you with inverted wingers, False 9s, holding midfielders and sweeper-keepers? Does tactical jargon leave you confused, but at the same time, examples of the media's obvious tactical ignorance (“4-4-2 is more attacking than 4-5-1”) leave you annoyed? Do you want a bit more than “they just wanted it more”? In this book, erstwhile London radio host Bob Pearce quizzes Bulgarian tactician Mihail Vladimirov from the point of view of the dummy (not to be confused with the footballing act where a player goes to do something and then, cunningly, doesn't. Bob and Mihail definitely did this book). Written over a number of years for The Tomkins Times website, with edits and additions made for book format in 2016, this is a look at tactical theory that uses Liverpool Football... On 15 April 1989 Liverpool Football club were to play Nottingham Forest in the semi-final at Hillsborough in Sheffield. 96 Liverpool fans died after a crush developed in over-crowded stands. Subsequent investigations and media reports suggested that drunken fans had burst into the ground causing chaos and fatal overcrowding. Police witness statements supported this account and formed the basis for two decades of subsequent inquiries. But last month a new report revealed that witness evidence was widely tampered with and that some fans could have been saved by a better emergency response. Jenny Chryss examines the history of inquiry and misinformation into the disaster and asks why it has taken so long for truth to finally emerge. Producer: Gail Champion.
