The IMF label closes out a superb 2024 with another vital collection of essential techno sounds curated by founder Marcel Fengler. HARDPROOF VA 07 once again follows its vision, bringing together the techno stars of tomorrow with some of the genre's most consistently innovative pioneers. Felicie is shaping modern techno on many different fronts: the Amsterdam-based Frenchwoman has hosted her own Fastgroove Klub project at Rex Club and dropped her hugely intense signature sounds on the likes of Exhale and Mord. Her fantastic 'Komodo' rides on dubbed-out drum loops with scruffy kicks and mind-melting percussive patterns adding to the intensity. It's fast but nuanced and packed with deft designs. Marcel Fengler's agenda-setting HARDPROOF series returns to his IMF label with another well-curated mix of forward-thinking techno. The superb sixth edition features the sounds of Steve Redhead, Audioklinik, The Sixth Sense, vrov and a collaboration between OGUZ and STEYA. The five previous editions of this series have established it as a vital resource for those who like their techno skilled and uncompromising. It's offered a wealth of timeless tracks from carefully sought-out artists, all of whom fit with the label's mission to platform next generation stars and enduring innovators while also chiming perfectly with the signature sound of Fengler's own groove-driven sets. Steve Redhead brings a veteran's touch after more than 20 years at the forefront of the scene. He has worked under various aliases and put 40+ EPs that never do the same thing twice. Here he offers 'Even Ears' which is a serious wedge of tightly-programmed concrete funk run through with evolving synth lines. They make for a dynamic, ever-shifting atmosphere of suspense peppered with moments of subtle release. Emerging Belgian DJ/producer STEYA shares her debut EP on IMF, becoming just the ninth artist to release a full body of work on Marcel Fengler's influential label. Her debut EP crystalises 20 years of devotion to techno, presenting a broad palette of sonic influences formed since her early days as a raver in Antwerp. At the same time, it continues the label's philosophy of pairing a next generation artist with respected heads of the genre, with long-time Swedish producer Hertz and STEYA's hero Rolando featuring on her ‘Dopamine EP'. Growing up in Belgium where the ‘Knights of the Jaguar' was a staple childhood anthem, it was “one of her biggest wishes to have him (Rolando) as a remixer”. An EP borne through two years of dedicated studio time, ‘Dopamine EP' kicks off with the electric title track, a gritty tribal outing marked by dynamic shifts in tempo throughout. ‘Fast Life' is a slick bass-led cut with plenty of bottom-end kick before a punchy synth melody gets added to the brew. Swedish producer Hertz – a favourite of STEYA's (“I've played one of his tracks in every set since the beginning of my career”) joins the project to re-work the title track, upping the energy of the original. ‘Things You Never Said' begins life centred around energetic rolling grooves, before warm synth rushes give it a distinct Motor City vibe. Rolando fittingly steps up for remix duties to close out the EP, delivering a masterclass in deep simmering techno, extending the original by two minutes. Today's premiere is a free download from Dublin-native Aero as he shares a bumping production titled ‘I Know You Got Hardcore'. This funk-driven techno track combines meddling low-end and catchy vocals, resulting in a ferociously energising listen. To put things lightly, Aero has grown into one of Ireland's most prolific Irish artists in recent times, the youngster has carved out a career that is wrapped around the foundations of purist techno. His punishing style of techno has been haunting Irish dancefloors for over half a decade, as Aero's deep knowledge of techno sees him weave through hard-edged and groove-laden techno cuts from various time periods. Aero has played alongside some of techno's most formidable artists such as Stef Mendesidis & Dax J through to SHDW & Obscure Shape & Sunil Sharpe, to name a few. He has built a strong repertoire as one of the most trusted warm-up DJs in Ireland but is also equally versed in pulverising a dancefloor at peak time. Outside of the club, Aero's productions have been seeing heavy support from arguably some of the most influential DJs of our time from Freddy K, Amelie Lens, Slam, Richie Hawtin, Marcel Fengler & many more. With some more 12 inches forthcoming and a mountain of unreleased music 2024 is expected to be a colossal year for Aero. Aero now presents his first release of 2024 with ‘I Know You Got Hardcore', a snappy DJ tool that has been doing the rounds for the past 6-months. The highly anticipated track sees Aero gravitate towards the simple yet nuanced approach to making stripped-back, yet funk-fuelled techno. Sampling Eric B & Rakim, Aero flips the original hip-hop track into a catchy 140bpm groove that is made for DJs. Today's premiere showcases one of Ireland's most promising techno DJs and producers Aero as he releases on the acclaimed Dublin-based imprint Research Label, titled ‘Through The Cracks'. This sonically varied composition highlights Aero's capability for creating consistently top-drawer dance music ideal for dance floors far and wide. Aero, who has become one of the most prolific Irish techno artists in recent times by means of grit and determination, is carving out a career wrapped around the foundations of purist techno in standout fashion. He boasts an array of quality releases on Blackaxon, Fever Records, Concrete Berlin and more, now adding a full EP with Research to his already impressive discography. Gaining overwhelming support from artists right across the industry such as Freddy K, Amelie Lens, Slam, Richie Hawtin, Marcel Fengler, Blasha & Allatt and so on. Aero's knack for shelling out consistent releases is infectious and clearly shines through here once again. The Dubliner's punishing style of techno has been haunting Irish dancefloors for over half a decade, as Aero's deep knowledge of the genre sees him weave through hard-edged and funk-laced cuts from various time periods with ease. Much of this has a direct influence on his own productions that can be heard in his latest ‘Through The Crack' release and today's premiere ‘Quiet Mind' in particular. Sublime driving techno accompanied by a high degree of production quality ticks all the boxes necessary for this track. A truly sensual tune that leaves no choice but to move your body. We premiere fresh music from Berlin techno pioneer, Marcel Fengler, as the former Berghain resident returns to his IMF imprint. We premiere the industrial-tinged ‘Cautio' as Marcel keeps things locked, rolling & gritty, supplying a hard-edged dancefloor destroyer. There's no denying Marcel Fengler's profound impact on the ever-changing techno landscape. A pioneer in his own right, Fengler's works have flooded dancefloors and set lists worldwide for decades, and that shows no sign of changing anytime soon. His latest work, released on his Index Marcel Fengler imprint, is an all-encompassing four-track EP titled “Unleashed”, including a remix from sought-after Stuttgart duo SHDW & Obscure Shape. The EP is available digitally from 13th October, with a vinyl release expected to follow. “It has been quite a journey with this EP, as I've been exceptionally discerning about the sound and the entire production process. My goal was to create a release tailored for the dance floor, with the right amount of energy for peak-time moments, while also ensuring a profound and well-structured sonic experience. After testing potential tracks in my DJ sets, I distilled what I believe captures the essence I want to share with the audience. Furthermore, I'm thrilled to have SHDW & Obscure Shape on board for a formidable remix. Their work carries echoes of the raw and forceful sonic textures from earlier times, which I hold in high regard. I'm genuinely delighted with how everything has come together, and I hope you enjoy it!” – Marcel Fengler. We premiere ‘Caution' a brutally tough locked groove that shows Marcel at his most raw & honest. The industrial leaning track leaves little to the imagination as leads with harsh percussive drive and endless layers of cadence throughout the mix. Add a robotic vocal and relentless low-end groove and you've got a sure-fire dancefloor destroyer. We start the week off with a bang as Madrid based techno assassin Rodiaz debuts on Marcel Fengler's Index imrint for their 10th anniversary. The young and promising Spaniard has supplied an elegantly powerful techno anthem, which blurs the line between chaos & euphoria. Marcel Fengler presents “10 Years IMF,” an energising collection that celebrates a decade of his prominent label Index Marcel Fengler, the longtime Berghain regular begins a new professional chapter as 2022 comes to a close. A “heart project,” which took two years to complete, features 12 tracks that are exclusive to the collection and, in keeping with the imprint's concept, brings together established and up-and-coming artists. '10 Years IMF' serves as Fengler's own manifesto of techno and the aesthetic potential of the genre while also presenting tracks that span the complete gamut of the techno genre, from groovy to elegant, industrial to ambient or broken beat, straight up to the tougher techno variation. Functional and thrilling in equal doses, the compilation explores Fengler's multi-faceted vision of techno, curating a line-up of tracks from artists across the generation. The compilation includes tracks from; Etapp Kyle, Dasha Rush, SHDW & Obscure Shape, ONYVAA & Mattia Trani, Marcel Fengler & The Advent, VRIL, STEYA, Scalameriya, Gerald VDH, Cratan, Chontane & Rodiaz. Rodiaz's ‘The Ancient Sage' has been a beloved go-to track to close out sets for Fengler and appropriately winds out the project. It's a timely reminder that techno can be simultaneously elegant and powerful and the dancefloor need not suffer any loss of energy because of it. “He sent me a playlist of uncompromising stunners and each track was better than the last. Expect more bangers on IMF soon.” Rodiaz ------------------------- SC: https://soundcloud.com/rodiazxmusic IG: https://www.instagram.com/rodiazxmusic/ Four Four Magazine --------------------------- FB: www.facebook.com/FOURFOURDANCE/ IG: www.instagram.com/fourfourmagazine/ Web: www.fourfourmag.com/
Born and raised in Thessaloniki she started her music career in 2012. Annē is a promising upcoming talent fully dedicated to techno music and focused on developing her career as a DJ & producer. Starting as a raver she began to think of music like something extremely experiential. Now she worthily represents the techno scene in her country. Her sets are powerful & pumping with never ending dynamics, focused on the perfect interaction with the crowd. As for her music productions she is sharpening her sound having strong references from Detroit, 90's & 00's sounds, while she is trying to print her inner feelings into her tracks. Being a local artist and resident DJ of executive underground projects in her city, she has shared the booth with some of the most notable international & local artists. Now she is a resident artist on the project Schisma in her city. A very new project which brings artists together & makes special events. She has shared the boot with artists like: Alien Rain, Insolate, Newa, 999999999, Marcel Dune, Axel Karakasis, Salome, VTSS, Keith Karnal, Somewhen etc. Her gigs are include ://about blank in Berlin, C12 in Brussels, Depo Club & Epic Club in Croatia, Reworks festival in Thessaloniki & many more. With strong and very successful releases, on Ben Sim's Label Symbolism, on Out of Place and Soma records she made a bigger step to the music scene while her music has gained massive and diverse support, from artists like Amelie Lens, Answer Code Request, Luke Slater, Marcel Fengler, Pan-Pot, Insolate, Volster, Ben Sims, Anfisa Letyago, Joris Voorn, Slam, Blue Hour, Richie Hawtin, Patrick Mason, just to name a few, charting and playing her tracks very often. Her track “Fairy Dust” on Out of place records gained massive support from the scene counting more than 700.000 streams on Spotify & many more on all other platforms. She has already two shows in HÖR berlin, while she booked a third one this September! Her future though seems brighter, with her new collaborations with Ben Sim's label Hardgroove, Soma records, as long as many vinyl releases & V/ A vinyl compilations later this year. Her point of view is that a Dj is never greater than his audience. This is a unique situation where the dancer becomes part of the whole setting of the music being played. In this, her role is as much part of the audience as the dancers. Basically, she always has one foot on the dance floor and one in the booth. If we were to pick one word to describe Ziggy Devriendt, AKA Nosedrip, it would probably humble. He runs a one-man empire out of the modest Belgian coastal town of Ostend, and his STROOM label is one of the most quietly brilliant outfits in Western Europe. A mixture of obscurer-than-obscure reissues and quirky new material makes for a label as unpredictable as it is essential, and Devriendt's unusual touch is all over it—he prefers to make up his own compilations and sequences instead of just repackaging old records, for example, which explains how important curation and putting songs together is to him. So it's not a surprise that , in addition to being a music nerd supreme, Devriendt is also a remarkably good DJ, whose ear for oddball cuts translates well into intuitively danceable music. Judging from his RA Podcast, he's had trance on the mind—the mix features flighty beats that range from CJ Bolland and Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia to new-school practitioners like J-Zbel, plus a major highlight from Peter Van Hoesen that you might remember from Marcel Fengler's Berghain 05 mix and plenty of new material from Stroom. (He's also putting out a compilation of Belgian trance, which might explain the direction of this mix.) It's a three hour-ride that varies from jaw-dropping mixing to abrupt, almost shocking transitions that might startle you out of your chair. @ziggy-devriendt Read more at https://ra.co/podcast/843

Terminal V Podcast - Marcel Fengler Berlin has long been regarded as one of the capital cities of techno and Berghain could be seen as the home stadium of the genre in Europe. If this analogy is accurate then Marcel Fengler would be one of the midfield playmakers. One of the first Berghain residents to ply his trade there since 2005 Marcel has crafted a career above reproach by being a truly versatile artist. Marcel is the real deal. His uncompromising DJ sets have long been stamped into the history books of Berlin techno and the fact that his first ever release was on Berghain's in-house label Ostgut Ton really should tell you all you need to know. The unassuming German is most definitely not known for resting on his laurels and made the decision to focus on his already established imprint Index Marcel Fengler. It is this constant reinvention and re-imagination that keeps him at the top of his game and we are blessed to present an exclusive mix from the man himself. Since the mid 90's Marcel Fengler has been blazing a trail and you can trace his dedication his craft in this very mix... ----------------------------- Upcoming Terminal V events: www.terminalv.co.uk/events Tracklist: 01. The label aswell as the Stuttgart based club represents a wide range of techno music. The philosophy of Lehmann Musik is to show a cross section of the Lehmann agency artists plus of course guests and friends of the club. Dark days actually for our scene and culture. We are guessing everybody is going through a lot of struggles and mixed emotions at the moment. As for the most in our industry and scene - we as Lehmann Club - looking into an uncertain future. Depending on how long this crisis will last, we not really know how it will go on afterwards. So we called some of our dearest „old“ and „new“ friends, past guests and our residents to create these „Save our HOME“ compilation. Were very thankful for the support and appreciate this a lot. The 005 reflects again several vibes and moods of the current techno zeitgeist – plus some excursions through the fields of non typical 4-to-the-floor club sound.

In 2018, Chlär officially entered the techno scene by releasing his first EP on Bipolar Disorder Rec at the age of 20. His first involvement in the world of electronic music consisted of organizing illegal rave parties in his home country; Switzerland. Having played in several major club capitals in Europe, he has caught the attention of more and more people by providing "outstanding" DJ sets and live performances. Producer and craftsman of sound, Chlär shines through his unconventional approach to techno. It is through a scientific and meticulous approach to sound that he creates simple and subtle elements that embody an effective piece of music. He believes in the impact that alternative sounds can have, which leads him on a journey with a focus on surprising and satisfying a crowd. His research now leads him to melancholic and powerful creations that are made to guide the crowd through an oppressive and exhilarating journey. Hertz Collision is a duo formed by Francesco Profeti and Pietro Franchini. They began to collaborate in 2009 due to their musical taste. They started to release music from 2014 on labels like Tono Limited, Serial Number 849, Concrete Music, Dynamic Refection. The duo was invited to Strasbourg by Crew to play next to Johanna Knutsson in 2015 and played also in Valencia and Naples. During last months they released on Persistence, Uncage records, in a digital V/A for Pole group. In October the duo played at Radion for the Dynamic Refection showcase during the ADE. Marco Faraone is a prolific and versatile producer whose incendiary live sets have earned him the attention of all the right people. As his style developed, Marco became fascinated with the 90s house championed by Masters At Work and Todd Terry, whilst admiring Laurent Garnier for his ability to effortlessly play diverse sets. Having earned his stripes as both trusted resident and a travelling headliner and with many high-profile dates behind him and the support of some of the most respected names in electronic music, Faraone has started running his own imprint. UNCAGE Music has already been creating plenty of noise and attracting attention from many of the most important artists in the scene continuously releasing HQ music since the day one with artists like Radio Slave, Skudge, Markus Suckut, Nick Hoppner, Marcel Fengler, Donato Dozzy, Eduardo de la Calle and of course Marco himself, giving also the opportunity to some new upcoming talents like Hertz Collision and Pablo Mateo to build up their own profile. Ahead of his Australian return for Piknic Electronik, Marco has compiled a special Balance Selections mix which eschews his techno output of late in favour of a more groove-based house flavour. Next to appear in our showcase series is a producer and disc jockey from Berlin. An artist who has made his mark as of late having just released on Marcel Fengler's Index record label. The release has come after many years of hard work for AVION who has appeared at the likes of Gerberei Schwerin Waagenbau and Tresor. Originally inspired by the likes of Jeff Mills, Depeche Mode and Bjork his sound has since evolved with age. In the present he crafts an elegant blend of dubbed out techno, punchy, purposeful yet with a somewhat melodic edge. It's as much in the atmosphere as it is the drive for a producer whom we expect to see more of soon.

What stands Marcel Fengler apart, as well as his knack for refined atmosphere, is his widescreen vision: he reaches for records from all across the electronic spectrum and from throughout the ages. His official mix for Berghain proved that, snaking as it did through a number of different moods and grooves, but all with a sense of cohesion that betrays his many years behind the decks. As a producer, too, he has amassed an assured body of work on Ostgut Ton in both LP and EP format that is fantastically functional. The mix Fengler has put together for us is a high impact hour of firmly rooted rollers embellished with spooky synths and knotted acid, kinked drum lines and insistent claps. Always on a smooth upward trajectory, it is a mix that you can feel transporting you to another realm and one that manages to balance punishing passages with airier moments of trance inducing atmosphere. As such it packs a lot in, but never feels rushed, and leaves you desperate for more.
Hello and welcome to episode #081 of Lehmann Podcast - Alex Dolby! When you have grown and lived in the early ’90s, the golden period of Rome raves and of the musical transformation that occurred in those authentically underground places, you have many things to say. In this background, Alex Dolby, DJ and producer, has formed in his youth, taking inspiration from pillars of the scene such as Jeff Mills, Joy Beltram, Robert Armani and from the music released by record label like R&S and Metroplex, just to name a few. In order to develop, even more, his potential, Alex Dolby has travelled a lot during the years, both as good listener and DJ. He has performed in top club around the world: Ministry of Sound in London, DC10 at Ibiza, Pacha in Buenos Aires, Magazzini Generali in Milan, Sazae in Osaka, Brancaleone in Rome, Cafè D'Anvers in Belgium and many others. The musical desolation and the dark industrial landscape of Frosinone and its province, where Alex Dolby grew, brought him to start a “revolution from below”: to open his own club which respond to the musical culture he would like to spread. So, in 2013, Affekt Club born. The raw and underground culture is the demanding but noble mission that Alex Dolby has set, on the example of the city where the musical movements, that are still a model for everybody, born. Simultaneously with his achievements as producer (Alex released Nefesis, the second album of his career with Affekt Recordings, the label of the same name of the club. The LP contains ten tracks: Paranco e Morphosis which have become real hits, played by DJs such as Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Chris Liebing, Truncate e Alan Fitzpatrick) Alex Dolby, through his club, grown on both a part of people that never had lived that reality and on field’s experts, DJs that have appreciated the quality of sound which come from that dark room. This success was possible mainly through a different approach to the “party system” which is largely used in Italy. The Affekt club offers both promising young DJs and successful DJs who are not (inclined to) part of the mainstream commercialization. The artistical programmation of the club has been of a very high level since its beginning and the club has been able to host, for the first time in the history of territory, artists such as Len Faki, Speedy J, Oscar Mulero, Monoloc, Rebekah, Truncate, Francois x, Marcel Fengler, Tommy Four Seven, Norman Nodge, Giorgio Gigli, Shifted, Sigha, Joel Mull, Markantonio, Brian Sanhaji, Par Grindvik, Jonas Kopp, Reeko, Gaetano Parisio and many others. Experimentation and underground are Alex Dolby’s key words. Hello and welcome to episode #049 of Lehmann Podcast - Wirrwarr! Andrea Casiraghi and Gabriele Frigerio, p.k.a. Wirrwarr, artistically born in Milan by the most techno and essential clubs. Both immediately prefer gloomy and german-style sounds and, during their performance, realize they can offer a 2-mind-view of techno concept to their crowd. So that after only 1 year from the birth of their project, they are chosen as resident djs at Magazzini Generali, one of the biggest techno club in Italy. Thus began an escalation of gigs on which Wirrwarr are found to perform next to international guests such as Gary Beck, Marcel Fengler, Alan Fitzpatrick, Terence Fixmer and many more... 2013 has been a special year for the duo as they played their very first foreign gig at the infamous Tanzhaus West in Frankfurt and as they released their first ep “Knopf Und Hebel” which, among others, got a massive support from CLR head and techno pioneer Chris Liebing.
