Michael is joined by Adam Marshall, Minister for Agriculture & Western New South Wales / Nationals member for Northern Tablelands, who yesterday announced the launch of the ‘Help Harvest NSW’, which will connect unemployed Australians with farm work opportunities across the State as part of the NSW Government’s COVID Recovery Plan. Farmers will be able to capitalise on what is predicted to be the best harvest in many years, with the new one-stop resource which will help the agriculture industry overcome a COVID-induced labour shortage and get unemployed Australians into critical work. Mr Marshall says, “the Help Harvest NSW website will help to overcome this challenge by connecting job-seeking Australians with agricultural work opportunities in NSW.” “I want to see more Aussies climb off the couch and get out into the regions where there’s plenty of good paying work on until the end of the year.” “At a time when we are just beginning to emerge from drought, our State’s farmers cannot afford to miss out on the financial uplift that comes from a strong harvest.” You can visit the website by clicking here. In this episode Christian talks to Adam Marshall, director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, about the state of the economy and the prospects for a recovery. Adam believes that when government support schemes are withdrawn they must be replaced by more targeted schemes and that businesses must be supported by tax reform and incentives to hire. With the latest survey from the business group pointing to deep-rooted nervousness among firms, Adam says there is a real risk that simply switching off support, such as the job retention scheme, could lead to widespread hardship in the business community. Also in this episode, Christian looks at the latest bank lending figures; the success of the chancellor's Eat Out to Help Out scheme; and Amazon's plans to hire thousands of people - and take on more office space. Michael is joined by Adam Marshall, Minister for Agriculture & Western New South Wales, regarding his announcement to help farmers & agricultural workers cross the NSW / Victorian border. Farmers and critical agricultural workers who reside outside the Border Region Zone in Victoria will now have a new pathway to enter NSW and move outside the ‘border bubble’ for work. Under the changes, individuals will be able to access a new Highly Specialised Critical Services (Agriculture) Permit if they: · Provide a highly specialised critical agricultural service; · Are moving and working anywhere within 100km of the New South Wales/Victorian border, on the NSW side; · Comply with strict conditions if staying overnight; and · Adhere to other safety requirements, including self-isolating when not delivering the critical service. Exemptions for individuals needing to move beyond the 100km limit for work will be considered on a case-by-case basis with the changes coming into effect at noon today and the new permits will be available via the Service NSW website. Lord Norman Tebbit, former chairman of the Conservative party and prominent cabinet minister during the Thatcher era joins Christopher Hope to discuss if we're in a Cummings government or a Johnson one, what we think we can learn from the 1980s about the unemployment crisis to come, and the department our Prime Minister would have run in Thatcher's government (spoiler: it's none of them). Plus Mark Francois, the chairman of the European Research Group of Tory MPs, on why he's become pen pals with the EU's chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, and Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, Adam Marshall, tells us it's our civic duty to support local businesses as the lockdown eases. Adam Marshall, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce discusses the importance of data at a local business level and the potential for SMEs.
Millions of people in Britain will be able to go to the pub, visit a movie theater, get a haircut or attend a religious service starting July 4, in a major loosening of coronavirus lockdown restrictions. But they will have to wait a bit longer to see a concert, get a tattoo or go to the gym.Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Tuesday that “our long national hibernation is beginning to come to an end,” announcing that restaurants, bars, hotels, hairdressers, cinemas and museums will be able to reopen next month. Other businesses where people are in close contact, including gyms, pools, spas and tattoo parlors have to stay shut for now.“We cannot lift all the restrictions at once, so we have to make difficult judgments,” Johnson said. The government's decision will help thaw a British economy that has been in deep freeze since March, when a nationwide lockdown was imposed to slow the spread of the virus.Since then, Britain has suffered Europe’s worst coronavirus outbreak, with 42,927 confirmed dead, the third-highest total in the world behind the United States and Brazil.Johnson said that the more the country opened up, "the more vigilant we will have to be.”The government said the looser restrictions were a big step on the road back to normality. In a related move, it said it was scrapping the daily news conferences held since March where government ministers, scientists and health officials give updates on the outbreak. From now on, there only will be be press conferences “to coincide with significant announcements,” the government said.Starting July 4, places of worship will be allowed to hold services, though singing by choirs and congregations remains banned since it could transmit the virus. For the same reason, live music and theater performances are still off-limits.Most international travel remains out of reach, but the government gave the green light to staycations with the reopening of hotels and campsites. For the first time since March, people will also be able to stay overnight with friends or relatives. The government also announced that social-distancing rules will be relaxed. From July 4, individuals will be advised to stay at least 1 meter (3 feet) apart from others, rather than requiring 2 meters -- as long as they take other measures to reduce transmission of the virus, such as wearing a mask in enclosed spaces.Pubs and restaurants have been lobbying the government to reduce the distance rule, saying many will go under if customers have to stay 2 meters apart. One meter is the minimum distance recommended by the World Health Organization. The social distancing requirement is also a concern for educators hoping to safely open British schools in the fall. The government said businesses will be getting detailed advice on how to become “COVID-secure," with measures including visors for hairdressers and only table service provided in bars. And it said people should only meet indoors with members of one other household at a time.Even with those precautions, Johnson said that “as we have seen in other countries, there will be flareups" of the disease that could lead to restrictions being reimposed. The measures announced by Johnson apply only in England. Other parts of the U.K. — Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — are all following slightly different lockdown plans.Adam Marshall, director-general of the British Chambers of Commerce, welcomed the announcement but said “we are still a long way from business as usual.”Michael Kill, chief executive of the Night Time Industries Association, said the announcement was good news for some businesses.“But for many of our members, including night clubs, casinos and some pubs, restaurants and bars that can’t meet the one-meter social distancing obligations, the nightmare of enforced closure goes on,” Kill said. Some scientists are worried that the government is reopening the economy too fast and that a track-and-trace system meant to quickly stamp out any...

The podcast of five gaming friends playing the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020. Lucky episode 13. We closed last time with a high level of confidence that the “Dark” Black Ops warehouse that Genter planned to take Antigone to is not really as dark as we had heard. A pressing concern for us is the PPC sample that we stole back from Petrochem. We don’t know how they got their hands on it, and we don’t know if we took their only specimen. Maybe they have reverse-engineered it, or maybe they’ve replicated it on their own. Either way, that’s a major concern for our home corporation, so Surány gets to work on trying to find more info. And maybe we haven’t learned how to be as discrete as we thought we were. CLOSING NOTES: Well that was a close call. While trying to set up our trap to figure out whether Petrochem really had more samples available, we ended up bringing their security team down onto our PPC site. Thankfully we got the warning out in time and, though we had to burn the assets there, at least I didn’t cause anyone’s death. Now we have their security team flying back, and Han is there alone. Hopefully they don’t spot him, too. But as we all know, Han is a loose canon, and who knows what he might try to do next. We hope you can come back, and we’d certainly love to hear from you. Night City Secrets@gmail.com! Thanks for listening, choomba.

The podcast of five gaming friends playing the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020. All the way up to episode 12. Still in Season 1, as we’re still following up this Eric Genter rival Petrochem story arc. Send us a note at nightcitysecrets at GMAIL dot COM, leave us a review, we’d love to hear from you. We spent our first night in our new home, and no one died yesterday. So, the bar is pretty low. But the team isn’t exactly feeling warm and fuzzy and tight with each other. There’s still some latent mistrust out there, not to mention some loose ends each of us wants to tie off. Antigone is trying to hatch a plan, while Hako and Surany are trying to close off some business of their own. Without further ado, let’s see how we try to come back out of our shell. CLOSING NOTES: So, not much action this time, but a lot more prep work. But Surány seems to have some decent evidence pointing us to the Petrochem warehouse as the source of our Netrunner nemesis. Han got some more intel on the site and set us up to gather even more. And Hako was able to procure some transportation, some mannequins, an inflatable sheep, and is in the process of getting us more boltholes to run away to. I wonder how we got so paranoid…

The podcast of five gaming friends playing the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020. Tonight we close out session 7. When we left, Eric Genter’s Petrochem Black Ops team had a near miss at our PPC warehouse, thanks to some quick Netrunning by Surány and because we had Han in place to watch them. Antigone’s brother got everyone out and torched the place. Han is now at the Petrochem warehouse alone, doing what he can to collect more intel. Is Genter really there? How many guards does he really have? How penetrable is the location? All that good spy stuff. Meantime, Hako is working his contacts trying to secure some practical and some unorthodox supplies that Antigone is asking for, with a few bonuses thrown in for himself. And Antigone starts the wheels in motion to introduce a major new player -- SovOil, the Russian megacorp who were involved in the Second Corporate War with Petrochem. That war poisoned a large part of the South China Sea and helped serve as the impetus for the creation of our PPC enterprise, in fact, gathering a lot of the refugees from the Pacific Islands. Let’s see if Han can lay low, or if he is gonna start something. CLOSING NOTES: I stopped the recording here, but our conversation went on for another 20 minutes. We got into a long discussion about: is the pacing good? The REF told us he feels like he’s struggling getting everyone equal and ample play time. We all said that we’re quite happy with the pacing - we just enjoy being together. But we did decide that a lot of our game time the past few sessions has been taken up by activities that we think can be better handled out of game -- using our website forums and with private threads and out-of-game conversations that don’t need to happen here to gum up the action. So, after this session, we’re going to be utilizing our forum threads more judiciously. Hopefully, that cuts down on some of the administrative stuff that slows down us getting to the more action-oriented sequences the REF has in mind. If we get an audience, and if any of you want to look at our game threads, just let us know and I can invite you in as a read-only participant. Reach out to us at nightcitysecrets.com and I can get in touch. We’re ending tonight with the team about to head into the city. Antigone is planning on revealing the details of her plan as well as meeting up with Sergei Bratislov of SovOil - if you want to divert attention from yourself, maybe call in the big dog enemy of my enemy and see if that moves the needle, right? And Hako is headed in to a private meeting with his cop friend Marcella at NCPD Vice. Hope to see you again!

The podcast of five gaming friends playing the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020. This is part three, the final part, of gaming session 6, which means we are on Episode 11. So we’ve started to turn the tables. Got some gear, some new equipment, walking into an interview to play our story through the media, maybe we’re getting some mojo back. If things appear to be going well, then you’re probably not watching your six. Let’s see if we’re on the right track, or if we’re just continuing to dig our own graves. Also -- send us a note at nightcitysecrets at GMAIL dot COM, leave us a review, we’d love to hear from you. We’d love to hear your criticisms, advice, and your insults. We can handle it! CLOSING NOTES: We made it! Everyone is alive. The REF certainly has us all walking on eggshells at this point. I have never felt so strung along… Just when we were expecting a storm, we got the eye. I’m not sure if we’re growing as role-players, or if we’re just growing more paranoid. Pretty sure we’re just playthings at this point. Tune in next time to see how he gets us out of this shell and we start trying to go on the offensive against Petrochem and Eric Genter. Fricking Genter…
The Brexit process resumes post Christmas, but the prime minister hasn't yet spoken to Adam Marshall, director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, one of the country's biggest business lobbies. He tells Bloomberg Westminster's Sebastian Salek and Roger Hearing that businesses can't handle another cliff edge. Plus, our Brexit bulletin editor Adam Blenford explains how Rebecca Long Bailey's candidacy changes the dynamic of the Labour leadership race, and what to expect from Sajid Javid's budget.
Britain’s main opposition Labour Party promised Thursday to radically expand public spending and state ownership if it wins the Dec. 12 election, trying to close a persistent opinion-poll gap with the governing Conservatives. The party said a Labour government would nationalize Britain’s railways, energy utilities and postal system, cap rents, hike the minimum wage and abolish university tuition fees.Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called the platform a “manifesto of hope.” Critics called it a pipe dream.Prime Minister Boris Johnson pushed for Britain to hold the December election, which is taking place more than two years early, in hopes of winning a majority and breaking Britain's political impasse over Brexit. All 650 seats in the House of Commons are up for grabs.Labour’s ambitious manifesto is an attempt to shift the focus of the campaign from Britain’s stalled departure from the European Union and onto the country’s fraying social fabric, stressed after a decade of austerity measures under Conservative-led governments. The platform unveiled Thursday at a rally in Birmingham, central England, revives policies of nationalization and central government control that have been jettisoned by both Conservative and Labour governments since the 1980s.“Yes, it is a radical manifesto,” Corbyn said. “But when you travel around this country and you talk to people, radical answers are what’s necessary.”Labour promised to build 150,000 new public housing units a year and to create hundreds of thousands of “green jobs” to combat climate change by expanding renewable energy and cutting carbon emissions. The party also says it will part-privatize telecoms provider BT and bring free broadband internet access to every home and business in Britain. The costly new policies would funded by raising taxes on the wealthy, including a higher corporation tax, a windfall tax on oil and gas companies and an income tax increase for those earning more than 80,000 pounds ($104,000) a year.Johnson’s Conservatives accused Labour of reckless spending and outmoded socialist ideas.“None of this has any economic credibility whatever,” said Johnson, who labeled Labour’s policies “ruinous.”The Conservatives, however, also are promising more money for infrastructure, health care and public services if they win, a major change of policy after years of backing public spending cuts.Paul Johnson, who heads the Institute for Fiscal Studies, an economic think tank, called the scale of Labour’s financial promises “colossal” and said the idea it could be paid for without raising taxes on most workers was “simply not credible.”Business groups reacted more cautiously to Labour’s plans.British Chambers of Commerce chief Adam Marshall said businesses would “welcome proposals to reform skills funding, upgrade our failing infrastructure and review business rates.”“But command and control isn’t the way,” he said. “Excessive intervention in business governance and sweeping tax rises would suppress innovation and smother growth.”Edwin Morgan, director of policy at the Institute of Directors, warned that “Labour's measures on business risk being too much stick and not enough carrot.”Corbyn, who spent decades on Labour’s left-wing fringe before winning the party leadership in 2015 thanks to a surge in grassroots support, said his policies would be popular with the public. He compared himself to U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, whose “New Deal” helped tackle the Great Depression, saying that Roosevelt “had to take on the rich and powerful in America to do it.”“So I accept that the opposition and hostility of the rich and powerful is inevitable,” he said.“The billionaires and the super-rich, the tax dodgers, the bad bosses and the big polluters — they own the Conservative Party,” Corbyn added. “But they don’t own us.”While Johnson's Conservatives have a lead in most opinion polls, analysts say the Dec. 12 election is unpredictable because the question of Br...

His sets span the breadth of house, techno, ambient and electro and he tends to bring the heat more often than not. His production qualities speak volumes and this has been displayed on the likes of Maeve, Thema, Kuji and of course on his own label. The Canadian techno scene would sound very different without the work of Adam Marshall and Christian Anderson. The former runs the essential New Kanada imprint and the latter is one of the most regular artists on it. As well as that, the Berlin based pair work together as Graze, and on November 8th will put out their first EP on our own UFO label. It is a varied four tracker that showcases their futuristic, drum driven style, and is another fine entry into their discography which already takes in six EPs and two LPs in the last three years. Ahead of that EP comes the latest entry in our mix series. It is a to-the-point, forty minute selection that is always driven by tightly programmed drums. Forceful percussion, spaced out electronics and big warehouse techno all get called upon along the way, and the result is a sweat inducing, beautifully dark and machine made set that ends on some dystopian ambient and white noise that all fits in perfectly with the vibe of the UFO label and associated stage at Dekmantel Festival.

In his first major role, he appeared as Charlie Richmond, Jr. on the CBS sitcom Charlie & Co., along with Flip Wilson, Gladys Knight, and Jaleel White. St. John's first major soap role was Adam Marshall on the NBC soap opera Generations, the first daytime drama to feature a core African American family from its inception. After Generations was cancelled in 1991, he originated the role of Neil Winters on The Young and the Restless, where he continues to appear to this day. A cast member for 20 years, no African American actor has appeared on Y&R more frequently than St. John. In 1992, he won the
20 years ago the European Union embarked on an ambitious project which clearly ranks among its greatest achievements – the creation of the Single Market. The Single Market has brought down barriers to trade and created a level playing field for European businesses and consumers. To mark the 20th anniversary, a series of events took place across the EU. Born and raised on the Southwest side of Detroit he was exposed to electronic music at a young age. Listening to The Wizzard as he fell asleep at night not knowing who, what, when, where and why this music was so motivational. The music being played in this area at that time was a mix of Latin Freestyle and Bass(Detroit Techno). As a product of his environment he began Djing Latin Freestyle and Bass starting at the age of 16, right around the time (93 or 94) where he was exposed to his first rave. At that point he decided to cash in his Latin Freestyle records for House and Techno. Early in his career of Djing he held residencies at local after hours around Detroit. Such as 420, Club 911, Rehab and Body's just to name a few. Also A.O.D. held weekly residencies at local clubs around Detroit such as OSLO and The Works. Around 2000 he began A.O.D.( Arsenal of Democracy) after reading a Detroit history book. At that time he wanted start doing events. His first party was NYE 2001 at an empty loft on Grand River and Woodward. A.O.D. from that point forward became to be know for one off parties around the city of Detroit show casein talent from the likes of Ryan Elliott, The Surgeon, The Advent, Tony Rohr, Scan 7, Adam Marshall, Barem, Camea, Lee Foss, and most recently The Wolf + Lamb Crew, NRP SoulClap just to name a few. Around 2005 Vinnie along with A.O.D. Moved to Chicago and started to do networking there to set up shows for friends and artists alike. Moving back to Detroit in 2008 You can find Vinnie playing a wide variety of music, from Classic Detroit Techno and House to Hard Techno to Minimal but lately he has developed a feel for Tech House mixed with Deep(discofunkyslowbanginwhateva) House. Moving into 2010 Vinnie along with A.O.D. has taken over the reigns at The Works in Detroit where he is the booking manager. Vinnie as of late has multiple residencies in and around Mi. You can catch Vinnie every Monday at The Flight Club most Fridays at The Works or catch his monthly in Grand Rapids and a monthly at The TV Bar also watch out as he dips in and out of Chicago frequently and playing random events in Detroit. Currently dipping his feet into the Miami Beach night life. Already having a residency at The Pelican Cafe on Ocean Drive. dattrax: The title basically says that there is nothing organic about this mix. Techy, electronic, funky w/ a slight tribal feel. Charging beats and harder edged layering. It has a relentless and aggressive pace. This mix begins w/ Ladytron's "Playgirl", a gem that I found in a Queen St. W. record store called "Rotate This" in a back bin of techno records. Just pulled up any record that had cool artwork and that I didn't recognise in their electronic section. Must have blazed through 150 records that day. Such a waste of time taking records in and out of their sleeves without damaging them. People hate us at record stores. Just dropping the needle on each cut of a record for seconds looking for the goosebumps and hair to rise. "Playgirl" was a b-side that was made super fast. I had to slow it down 4 notches on technics 1200s and it's still fast. This mix is highlighted by wicked tracks by the Dynamic Duo of Justin Harris and Luke Solomon of MusicForFreaks (MFF) fame, Steve Bug's double album, "The Other Day", DJ Heather, Richie Hawtin, Cevin Fisher, Rob Mello, Adam Marshall (a fellow Torontonian), Dub Taylor, Derrick Carter, etc., etc. LOVE THESE GUYS!!! BTW... if you enjoy this mix, then why don't you buy us a beer? There's a PayPal DONATE button on the top right side of this website. For Toronto or Global bookings: dattrax@gmail.com This was an all vinyl house mix.
