Today's episode is an open chat about 'the state of things' with Every Saturday founder, Mark BoydWe're chatting about how having conversations can change industries, and can change the health of our employees.TW: mental health and suicide.Ahead of R U Ok day next week, we're also reflecting on some important experiences that Mark Boyd has seen in his industry, but in corporate as a whole and how we can move away from the cupcake day and make dynamic change for mental health. We're talking women's rights in the workplace, and whether we need to burn it all down and start again.Longer one today - but as the name suggests... A conversation that needs to happen!Mark's career started at the age of 15. The first computer he fixed was the family PC. He broke it. His dad was at work. He had to figure out how to fix it before his dad got home. Ever since then, he was hooked. From the moment Mark set foot in his first role, he saw a challenge with workers and managers often having a disconnect between their shared (or sometimes separate) wants and needs when coming to work every day. With a passion for problem-solving and have risen through the ranks to build high-performing teams worldwide. Mark was always aware of his mental health challenges and never shied away from tackling them head-on. With the belief that humanity is more than the tagline on our LinkedIn profiles, he set out to bring people into a platform where they could tell their career stories and lend a voice to those still developing theirs.Mark's story is a relentless (and sometimes misguided) pursuit of technical and business perfection, a high bar he now realises is impossible to meet, and a story of openly and purposefully making mistakes and owning them. EverySaturday is here to show that even the most senior people in the technology industry can be vulnerable and make mistakes. This site is built on the belief that a senior manager, COO, Director, or CEO of any business can share their mistakes with the world, those coming into the workforce will not shy away from making them, and we'll leave the world a happier, healthier place.https://www.linkedin.com/company/everysaturday/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/markdavidboyd/ DOWNLOAD MY CONTENT PLANNER - https://becchappell.com.au/content-planner/Instagram @bec_chappellLinkedIn – Bec Chappell If you're ready to work together, I'm ready to work with you and your team. How to work with me:1. We have devoted several episodes in our podcast the Fort at Prospect Bluff, known best as the “Negro Fort” on the Apalachicola River in Florida's panhandle. During the War of 1812, the British also built a smaller fort, which historians dub Nicolls' Outpost. They and their Seminole allies used this as a base to conduct offensive operations into Georgia and Alabama during that conflict. Seminole Indians later used it to stage attacks on the US Army in the First Seminole War. And Historian Dale Cox is here to tell us all about it. His new, hardback edition of Nicoll's Outpost, is expanded from the softcover, with additional chapters and revised content. It is now available from booksellers. Map sketches of vicinity in 1815 and 1817 Painting of British Royal Marine Edward Nicolls, whose name became permanently associated with the outpost when historian Mark Boyd tagged it as Nicolls' Outpost in the 1950s. Mark is a fan of good conversation from creating stories and hearing some from his time as a bartender, remembering recipes of different combinations of drinks he decided to spice it up and add hot sauce creating infusion recipes to help heat up a fun night. All these play a factor in what could be a great conversation that you probably won't remember but sometimes those are the best types.

Oceanic Resort Condos of America's (ORCA) Marine Superintendent and Senior Captain, Tim Levensaler and Director of Condo Sales, Mark Boyd are in the studio for today's episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Joined by co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick, the group discusses the organization's new mega yacht condo project, Larga Vida. The idea for Larga Vida came about when a group of likeminded maritime people got to discussing the idea of gutting small, luxury cruise ships and converting them into private condo properties. A similar concept where people owned apartments on a large ship came about a few years ago but was rather limited due to its constant travel schedule. The Larga Vida dissolves this problem by allowing residents to own a condo docked at the Port of Miami. The yacht will cruise the Caribbean and neighboring islands three-to-four days a month, as well as an extended two-week trip to South and Central America once a year. The location for the longer destinations will be chosen by the condo owners through their HOA. If cruising around on a mega-yacht wasn't enough to draw you in, the amenities are sure to seal the deal. The Larga Vida offers a wide range of activities found on traditional cruise ships including lounges, nightclubs, a hot tub, a beauty salon, a gym, a massage studio, a medical center and inflatable boats perfect for scuba diving and beachcombing. Meals are provided for purchase daily with special Friday night dinners featuring gourmet chefs from upscale Miami restaurants. While these amenities are luxurious and superb, it's Larga Vida's submarine that puts it over the top. On the weekend, an experienced pilot will take passengers below seas to explore the underwater world. Spanning nearly 300 feet, the Larga Vida will feature 50 refurbished condo suites. Several steps have been taken to ensure safety amid the coronavirus pandemic including a crowd infrared geothermal system for temperature readings while onboarding, as well as saliva testing for diagnosing COVID-19 cases. Free masks will be provided to residents and every staff member will be certified to clean the ship to CDC guidelines. One of the biggest advantages of the yacht's business model is that it allows residents to enjoy an exciting cruise-like living experience while the actual cruise lines are down due to the pandemic. While initially seen as an incredible retirement solution, Larga Vida is also expected to be popular among the many young millennials working in Downtown Miami and those fleeing the COVID-19 unrest of big cities like New York. Those looking for an alternative to purchasing a traditional beach or lake house are also sure to love the unique mega-yacht experience for family trips or year-round living. Larga Vida's mega-yacht condos are officially open for sales with an expected move-in date of December 2020! Never miss an episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio! Subscribe to the podcast here. On today's episode I'm joined by some of our Committee Members. Welcome back to the show Mark Boyd : https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-l-boyd/ from Next Athleisure, Nick Smith : https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicksmith11/ from Chemist Warehouse, Veronica Denner : https://www.linkedin.com/in/veronica-denner-b366385/ from APG & Co, Neil Redfern :https://www.linkedin.com/in/neil-redfern-845aa014/ from Redfern Retail Risk and Mark Gentle : https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-gentle-74817b186/ from Checkpoint Systems. Happy 6th Birthday to the PPFF : https://www.profitprotection.co/. From the outset, the PPFF has had a goal to position itself differently. As Retail Loss Prevention leaders, the Committee have donated their time towards the goal of encouraging industry networking and collaboration because they all recognise that shoplifters will steal from EVERY store, regardless of whether it's a supermarket, pharmacy or apparel store. While retailers may compete with each other for shopper dollars, the PPFF is united in wanting to fight the dishonest customer. To this day the PPFF is the only not-for-profit organisation in Australia focused purely on helping Loss Prevention teams. On today's episode we are joined by Tim Edwards :https://www.linkedin.com/in/tim-edwards-dipcsmp-msyl-39b07b2/, Group Profit Protection Director at JD Sports Fashion; Mark Boyd :https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-l-boyd/, Head of Profit Protection APAC at JD Sports Fashion and a member of our PPFF Steering Committee and Sean Welch :https://www.linkedin.com/in/sean-welch-422ba134/, CEO at Agon Systems. We discuss magnetic tags vs mechanical tags for merchandise protection. We see thieves becoming smarter but not necessarily having to work harder to get merchandise out the door. Given that this is a global problem, we thought it would be good to talk about the Concept Tag and how it's worked for JD Sports.
