Currently out on a headline tour across the United States supporting their latest album Digital Noise Alliance, I caught up with Queensryche guitarist Michael Wilton. Michael is a founding member of this legendary metal band and over the course of their 40-year career, they've stuck to their ways and have carved out their own path. Not a lot of bands who have faced the kind of adversary that they have can say the same. Their latest offering is another example of their greatness but also includes an interesting cover choice. It's an absolute honor to have a conversation with one of rock's greatest players.

On the 39th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & Sonny review the 1988 concept album by Queensryche, "Operation: Mindcrime." This was Queensryche's 3rd studio album. Lead singer, Geoff Tate cam up with the idea of the concept album after living in Canada and then convinced guitarist, Chris DeGarmo who then got the rest of the band interested. The story is about a man named, Nikki who gets involved in political assassinations, drugs and revolutions. The band was led by vocalist Geoff Tate and his unique look and incredible vocal range. The dual guitar attack of Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton and rhythm section of bassist, Eddie Jackson and drummer, Scott Rockenfield provide the unique Queensryche sound. The album was produced by Peter Collins and showed that Queensryche although wrongly lumped in with hair metal bands of that era, was something original and had something to say. . As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous 35 albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This week is our 8th installment of, “Degrees Of Separation…” where we discuss the more obscure side projects and solo releases from some not-so-obscure artists. This week we pay homage to the rock n' roll rags to riches story that is the metal god-like voice that is Tim “Ripper” Owens. He inspired a major motion picture, not to mention gave opportunities to countless other singers from tribute bands to perhaps be considered as the replacement for the real deals. This guy has some of the most sought-after pipes of the last 25 years. All hear our warning; never turn your back on The Ripper!New to InObscuria? It's all about excavating obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. Michael Wilton of Queensryche talks to Rock Scene about his very young years in San Francisco, moving to Seattle Washington and playing bass in garage bands while growing up. Eventually switching instruments with a guitar player, Michael began learning all that he could about the guitar. After high school, he attended the Cornish Institute of Allied Arts for a year and a half until running out of money, forcing him to take a job. In doing so, he met Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield and Chris DeGarmo. They started jamming and eventually put together a 4 song E.P. The only thing missing was a singer. Chris DeGarmo recruited Geoff Tate to lay his vocals down, and Queensryche was born.
O disco conta uma única história, dividida entre as seguintes faixas: "I Remember Now", "Anarchy—X", "Revolution Calling", "Operation: Mindcrime", "Speak", "Spreading the Disease", "The Mission", "Suite Sister Mary", "The Needle Lies", "Electric Requiem", "Breaking the Silence", "I Don't Believe in Love", "Waiting for 22", "My Empty Room" e "Eyes of a Stranger". Grabaron cuatro canciones - "Queen of the Reich", "Nightrider", "Blinded" y "The Lady Wore Black". A pesar de esta reacción, los singles Sign of the Times y You recibieron mucha difusión. Tracklist: 01 - Queen Of The Reich 02 - Warning 03 - Walk In The Shadows 04 - Take Hold Of The Flame 05 - I Dont Belive In Love 06 - Eyes Of A Stranger 07 - I Dream In Infrared 08 - The Whisper 09 - En Force 10 - Neue Regel 11 - Chemical Youth ( We Are Rebellion ) 12 - Prohecy 13 - The Needle Lies 14 - Silent Lucidity 15 - Another Rainy Night ( Without You ) 16 - Empire 17 - Best I Can

The band has released 14 studio albums, 1 EP, several DVDs and continues to tour and record. They have sold over 20 million albums worldwide, including over 6 million albums in the United States. The band received worldwide acclaim after the release of their 1988 album Operation: Mindcrime which is often considered one of the greatest heavy metal concept albums of all time. Their follow-up release Empire, released in 1990, was also very successful and included the hit single Silent Lucidity. The band has received three Grammy nominations for songs from both albums. His nickname is The Whip for how fast his fingers "whip" around the guitar fretboard and he also has his own beer called Whip Ale.

Since then, Lisa has photographed the guitars of Les Paul, Jimmy Page, Roger Waters, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Eric Clapton, Lou Reed, Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee, John Lee Hooker, Peter Frampton, Chrissie Hynde, Joe Satriani, Wayne Kramer, Michael Wilton, Phil Collen, Ace Frehley, Ted Nugent, Carlos Santana, Scotti Hill, Ben Harper, Bucky Pizzarelli, John Scofield, John Hiatt, Luther Dickinson, Dickey Betts, Warren Haynes, Lucky Peterson, Al Kooper, T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour, Steve Earle, Keb Mo, Nancy Wilson, Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, Robbie Robertson, George Benson, Steve Vai, Jack White, SLASH, John Entwistle, Michael Monarch, Brian May, Derek Trucks, Johnny Winter, Brad Paisley, Willie Nelson, Richard Thompson, Gary Rossington, Joe Walsh, Robby Krieger, Mick Ronson, Bob Margolin, Hutch Hutchinson, Bonnie Raitt, Brian Setzer, Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Zakk Wylde, Warren DiMartini, Dave Mustaine, Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell, K.K. Downing, Steve Howe, Dave Mason, Tommy Shaw, Mark Farner, Brian Robertson, Steve Morse, Porl Thompson, Michael Schenker, and many more. Far from still life, Lisa’s work conjures the abstract, yet also possesses a very sensual and ethereal feel that intentionally illustrates the intimate wear and tear details of the instrument. Her unique presentation undoubtedly personifies the musician and captures their true spirit in these wooden extensions of their own iconic flesh. http://108rockstarguitars.com

The Seattle band Queensryche defined smart, progressive metal for a generation of fans during the 1980s and 90s. But after the band's main creative force left the band and music altogether, Queensryche foundered through a series of tepid albums, culminating in a long, contentious split with vocalist Geoff Tate. Behind new singer Todd LaTorre, Queensryche has found a creative and energetic rebirth. In this interview, recorded backstage during the band's Sept. 23 appearance in Cleveland, founding guitarist Michael Wilton reflects on the band's past, discusses the transition to making music and performing with LaTorre and the creative process behind Queensryche's inspired new album, "Condition Human."
