READ: John 4:27-39 MEDITATE: God wants to nourish us today. Not on physical food, but on His spiritual food through prayer, fasting, and his word. Be aware of what he has for you today. Take and eat it for it will strengthen your soul. PRAY: Heavenly Father, as Jesus met with the woman at the well, I believe you are going to meet me where I am today. And as I meet with you, may I feast on the spiritual food you have for me. Feed me and nourish my soul with your word so that I may be full. Out of my fullness, may I share with others. Need prayer? We are looking forward to sharing Don + Kris Tramp's testimony today! The Tramps' oldest son Seth serves at Desert Springs as our Middle School Pastor (check out Seth's story below!). Don + Kris together and as individuals have amazing testimonies. They both share their backgrounds growing up as children of divorce and how they had to find their way into adulthood. They first met at U of A and for Kris it was love at first sight. As a young couple they began to learn more about who Jesus was and committed to each other in marriage and to Christ. The early years of marriage were wonderful but difficult financially and career-wise. Looking back. Don + Kris see how the Lord took care of them and helped them to value hard work. Don settled into his career as a teacher in the Litchfield School District and Kris loved being at home raising their two boys, Seth + Garhett. They reflect on how they grew in their love and appreciation for the church as they put roots in at a local church. In a beautiful way, Don + Kris were breaking the cycles that they grew up in, creating their own marriage and family life that was honoring to God. As a couple they were especially passionate about pouring into their boys and they share some practical things they did in raising them. This eventually spilled into their community as a series of events led them to taking in a boy with special needs that Don met at the school he worked at. That is an incredible story that you have to hear!Seth Tramp's testimony (Don + Kris's son!), Episode 142Want to share your story on The Stories Collective podcast in 2025? If you regularly attend Desert Springs, you are probably familiar with today's guest! Seth Tramp joined us in the studio to share about what God has done in his life up until this point. Seth serves as our Middle School Pastor and has been married to his wife Ella for 3 years. We are blessed to have the Tramps as a part of our church family and staff! Seth came on staff at Desert Springs in January of this year and you'll hear as Seth shares that working in full time ministry wasn't always on his radar, but he feels he is now right where God wants him. He was raised in Buckeye and always loved working with his hands and figuring out how things worked. Seth describes that his parents set an incredible example of what a life of service looks like and shared a story about a special needs boy his parents ended up taking in while he was in high school. He also talks about a trip to Africa that gave him a deeper perspective for ministry and serving. While attending NAU Seth made the decision to join the National Guard which Seth still actively serves in. All of these events in Seth's life were leading him to a place of wanting to live a life of purpose. Life took him on some more paths including starting a career in construction, but God had other plans. We appreciate how Seth describes his walk with Christ as being intentional with plans but keeping his hands open to what God might have. We look forward to seeing how God will continue to use Seth in ministry! Want to share your story on The Stories Collective podcast? Kyle invites his co-worker, Middle School Pastor, and CPYU Research Fellow Josiah Rios to co-host this episode. Together they interview pastor and author Paul Tautges about his book Remade: Embracing Your Complete Identity in Christ. Identity formation is a huge issue among our teens, so we need to help them understand that they are both created by God and redeemed by God in Christ. When teens live into this reality, it helps lift the impossible burden of creating their own identities. They take time to dive into what Paul calls a triple lens perspective, understanding that we are sinners, sufferers, and saints and how we can teach that paradigm to students.
In this episode of Beyond Sunday, the pastors discuss the "Arrows" series, focusing on how to build solid and faith-centered lives for children. Evan, the Middle School Pastor, breaks down Sunday's sermon on the four components of an arrow: relationships (nock), character (fletching), faith (shaft), and purpose (arrowhead). The discussion explores how parents and non-parents can foster children's growth in these areas. They emphasize the role of mentors, teachers, and church members in helping children develop their personal faith, serve the kingdom, and discover their true purpose. Key points: Building relationships and character in children Encouraging personal faith and purpose Influence of non-parents and mentors

MEDITATE: Fasting is hard. It's a discipline to sacrifice the physical for the spiritual. Daniel was obedient regardless of the earthly opposition he faced and God was faithfully doing battle on Daniel's behalf in the spiritual realm. PRAY: Lord, I know you are working on my behalf. I trust that you are unlocking things because of my prayer and fasting. Remind me that I am not fighting against “flesh and blood,” but partnering with you to battle against evil authorities in the “heavenly places.” Need prayer? Embark on a reflective journey this Sunday, December 31st, with Cody Mixon, our Middle School Pastor, as he delves into the captivating theme of stories. We all love stories—whether it be in books, movies, songs, or family gatherings. In this sermon we'll discover the profound truth that the story of Jesus neither commenced in a manger nor concluded with an empty tomb. Instead, it began with the words, "Let there be light," and it continues to unfold, with all of creation eventually bowing in reverence.

Ministry is hard. Trying to do ministry from an empty cup is impossible. Don't burn out. You're not alone. Get help! This week, Ronald and Michelle talk about what they do when they're feeling spent in ministry. No matter what fills your cup back up, it's important to know when you're bone dry and how you can stop from getting all burnt out. But, when you see the signs that it's coming, there are definitely things you can do to help fill your cup back up and get to ministering to middle school students again! What is the main cause of burn out in YOUR life? Why do you normally burn out? Which activities do you seek out to refresh yourself? How can you avoid burnout? Matt Crow, Middle School Pastor
EE Leaders | Leadership Lessons Season 2 Episode 11 — The Priority of the Gospel Kevin Saxton, Middle School Pastor, Family Church Downtown, West Palm Beach, FL talks about how we can know what is the most important thing in life. A bivocational pastor, Kevin is also a firefighter. And he and his wife Tracy have seven children. There are many important things needing his attention. What does the Bible have to say about what is the most important thing? Where should we put our energy and focus? In 1 Corinthians 15:1-5, Paul describes what is of “first importance”—the gospel. “Our lives have to be rooted and founded on the gospel as a matter of first importance.” It is why we do everything we do. QUOTES: “I went back to the scripture to try and figure it out—what are the most important things I am supposed to be doing?” -Kevin Saxton “The most important thing is the gospel.” -Kevin Saxton “The gospel is something very particular, the fact that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and God raised Him from the dead.” -Kevin Saxton “The gospel changes everything. Nothing stays the same.” -Kevin Saxton One Piece of Advice | Salvation Herb Hartso, Student Pastor at Greystone Church in Durham, NC, shares his one piece of advice: Salvation. We have to understand that hell is the only alternative to heaven. Jesus came and saved us from hell. “When we minister, we must remember that eternity is at stake for people.” Give people an opportunity to be saved. QUOTES: “We have been saved from hell through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.” -Herb Hartso “When you understand the simple concept that there’s only two places we can go—heaven or hell—you will share the gospel more often.” -Herb Hartso “Let’s live for eternity. Let’s remember our salvation.” My hope is in eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began. This middle school pastor struggles with pride. I want to be upfront, be seen, and be an important part of the church body. But pride can really do damage to a ministry, a church, and the people who go there. In this episode, I talk about how I fight my pride and offer some suggestions on how you can too. God doesn't need us. He uses us anyways. Someday somebody will take over for you and the church will be just fine. Remembering the unnamed faithful in the Bible. We can do great harm from a point of pride than from a point of humility. Thanks guys and gals, you're fantastic listeners! Mentioned on the podcast: Write a Review Please!
